I bought my device on the 6th July 2012, so very soon after release and it is starting to get the screen lifting issue. I bought it from Google Play, who I contacted over the phone, and they told me to go to Asus. I don't want to call their hotline, as it costs and they'll probably just put me on hold for 30 mins to strain my already empty bank account, so I sent them a Technical Inquiry email. They replied, asking for a picture of the problem but it won't let me reply back to them. It was 2 days ago I started trying to reply but it still won't work. I have just had to start another inquiry and have attached the picture to it, but I'm not entirely sure if it's working or not, and it's going to take another few days for them to get back to me..
The problem is causing the device to 'creak' when held/picked up, and is gradually getting worse. I read that I should be able to get a new one as it is still under warranty but how am I supposed to achieve this if I can't even contact the company!?
What would you suggest I do? Phone up and pay the charge or wait even longer for the crappy Asus website to respond.
Thanks

I'm just dumbfounded that you finally decide to return it now.... Lol

...really are a Company I have concerns about. Last night at 11pm they had '100+' in stock of the HTC One. By 6am this morning they were 'stock due in 4 days'. Really? Or is this just a great way to get people to order an item they then find is out of stock.
I speak from experience of having waited 2 months for this Company to refund me for an HTC ONE X+ that I returned within 3 days of receipt. The reason for this delay? There wasn't one. I called them approx 3 times per week to be continually told the refund was being processed, however after 7 weeks I finally got the honest truth.... They hadn't taken any action at all and had simply not actioned the refund because they had mislaid my card details.

So with all the issues you had before you go ahead and order from them again?? ::confused
Expansys are the official HTC accessories company for UK.
I have no experience of ordering phone from them, but have bought numerous genuine HTC accessories from them.
My experience has been positive, one recent purchase was HTC flip case, after receiving my order , without contacting them I received an email advisory that a improved version was available, and without any extra charge was sent to me.
So whilst not discounting your experience, I have really good service and consequently wouldn't hesitate to buy from them in future

I tend to agree, I have previously enjoyed ordering items from them but since last summer they seem to have made a turn for the worst. I never received a 32 GB sdcard and despite emailing them several times I never did get a refund. Also I ordered a galaxy note 10.1 for Christmas and they didn't dispatch in time for Christmas.......because they were waiting for the sdcard to come back in stock..... .hello!

Sorry mis-read your original post so my apologies.... note to self grab a coffee and wake up before replying!
its really bizarre, as some retailers don't have any issues with stock whilst some are playing this trick the OP mentioned.. Wifey ordered from Very and she is still waiting.. I thought the stock issues should have been sorted out by now.. I can feel your pain..
Unfortunately, they have a bad system. The only way I was able to understand it was like this: Say they have 120 backorders, and you were customer number 101 from those 120. They then receive 100 units, instead of shipping them directly, they update their inventory/system that they received 100 units, hence their website show 100 in stack, but then they ship them to the 100 customers and stock is finished. The balance 20 backorders will have to wait for a new batch!
Just venting.
When I ordered the VZW developer edition I also ordered a case.
When the order arrived I did not receive the case I received a headphone headband. Even the packing slip said this.
I called in and after 30 minutes on hold and 3 different reroutes I was told the case was out of stock so I asked for my money back. "That can't be done until Monday" they said:
Monday last week "45 minutes on hold, 4 reroutes and finally I get someone. Repeatedly I tell them I cannot return the case because I do not have it. 60 minutes later I get an email for return instructions for my case.
I call again 25 minutes on hold, 3 reroutes. I try to explain over and over again that I want my money back. Finally they agree.
7 days later I do not have my money back. I call again, 3 disconnects after holding 75 minutes on hold and 4 reroutes. Again the same story. They person seemed to get quite annoyed because I was expressing annoyance at the process. He promised I would receive an email confirming in 1 hours.
4 hours later and I have nothing.

After my experiences with this last 6 weeks.. YIKES! All I can say is GOOD LUCK!!!
Well I just had a tough time with their services as well. I just bought the Dev edition and it randomly reboots through out the day. I talked to them last week and they had me do a factory reset. Well it still reboots at random. Yesterday it locked up where I couldn't do anything with it for a few hours. I figured something must have drained the battery. After a few hours it finally powered back on and showed that battery at 83%. I have spent 1 and half on the phone today with them and a 1 and half last week troubleshooting this phone. I asked if I could return this unit and they send me another unit but would not. They will not give me the cyber monday sale price on it, but did offer to give me the standard Moto x for 150 off after they receive this one back. I tried explaining that I can't go a without a phone as my job requires after hours support. She suggested I find an old phone. I have to send this phone in and have it repaired by them. So I'll be out a phone for a week. They don't care.
Have you tried chatting live with a representative?
If you go to the link below, and click on 'Chat Live' - I was able to connect with someone in under a minute and they were pretty helpful with their information:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/mcp/service/p/30,6720,8696//#/service
Just another avenue to try. Let me know how it goes
I did live chat with them last Friday and waited in queue for that for nearly an hour (with only 13 people ahead of me..) only to be told they couldn't help me on chat, I had to call their hotline.
I called that on my drive home work and was on hold for about 35 minutes before I talked to someone who told me I called the wrong number. He asked what number I called, and I gave it to him, and he said that was the right number, and he didn't know why I got routed to him. He transferred me and after about 20 more minutes, I got disconnected. I called back and was on hold until their support center closed at 7pm.
Calling back tonight on my drive home to see if I have any better luck.
Thankfully, I haven't had any problems with my actual device, but yes, their CS centers are a nightmare. I called in to find out why my device hadn't shipped yet (I knew it was probably because of the storm, but I wanted to hear if it was even actually ready to be shipped, or was still being assembled) because chat said they could not check that kind of thing. The guy on the phone was obviously just reading canned responses off of a script, and wouldn't just directly answer a question. I had to ask at least three times for him to just say, "Yes, that is correct," and confirm an assumption about my order.
My only "problem" was a case that was damaged when it arrived. Their chat acted like they were doing me a huge, big favor by sending me a replacement free of charge. Hey, it's not my fault that it was either a) sent out damaged or b) damaged in transit. Shipping claims are the responsibility of the shipper. Don't tell your customer that they're a "valued customer" but that you're going to make a big concession and offer to replace defective merchandise on a "one time only basis".
I bought a Moto G on 11/26, but changed my my mind later in the day. Unfortunately i wasn't able to cancel the order. I then ordered a Moto X which BTW I love. I then got a call from a supervisor who said she cancelled the G. So I received my X about 12/12. The next day I see my Fed Ex guy walking up to my door with the G that was supposedly cancelled. I refused delivery and sent it back to Motorola who received it 2 days ago, (Federal Express conformation). I just spent 45 minutes on the phone trying to find out about my refund. I was told even though they confirm receiving the phone back from me they have to open up an investigation on the issues which could take 10 days and then they would send it to a supervisor to authorize a refund! All I can say is WOW! Love the phone ...hate the service!
My biggest complaint with their "customer care" is that you can get 5 unique answers from 5 individuals, and then talk to them three days later and get 5 more unique answers from the same people. It would seem like there's no consistency or shared information between their departments, which is hugely frustrating, as you typically have to chat, then call, then be transferred, transferred again, and then promised a call back, etc. to get your answer. A chat rep should be able to tell me the status of my order the same as a call center rep. It should all be in a synchronized ERP system, not 8 different individual systems - this is Motorla (+ Google), they really should have the resources to do this.
Yep.
My last call ended with them saying they had finally got to the bottom of this and a refund would be issued. The next day I got the case in the mail Now the really weird part is that it turns out I really like the case so I'm just going to keep it.
They are truly hopeless. I hate that they make you take ages explaining a problem only to tell you someone else needs to deal with it. Then the same thing happens with the next person.

This is 100% true and it annoys me to no end. The funny thing is, I now have 3 pairs of free earphones from them that they don't want back.
nforeses These
Their customer service is awful. I tried for weeks to cancel a phone order and they simply kept saying "it's shipping tomorrow." Now I have an extra dev edition phone. Argh. Thinking of putting it on swappa instead of the hassle of mailing it back (or worse speaking with their CSRs).
BTW...when does the verification nonsense go away for users? I can never read those captcha things... it's like looking at those boats in dots posters.
To update on my post from earlier in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48552145&postcount=9
I did get through to them (after another HOUR on hold) and was routed to the wrong department (again, twice), before finally being directed to someone who could "help". She explained that she would email me a ticket number and requested copies of the charge discrepancies. I was billed more than they stated I would be for my Moto X, so I was asking for clarification on the difference in the confirmation email and what was charged to my account.
I sent the requested screen shots showing the differences and never heard back. It will have been a week tomorrow, and I'll be following up then.
Well, I got an email back from them just now and they offered me either a $25 Play Store credit or a pair of SOL Republic Jax headphones in a color of my choice (the ones they have on their website under Accessories). I've never used that brand, but a coworker said they make good headphones. They're MSRP is $39.99 (which is more than $25), and I rarely buy things on the Play Store (maybe 3-4 purchases in the 5+ years I've been using Android), so I went for the headphones.
Glad they made it right. And the discrepancy on my charge was only like $8.
There seems to be two customer supports...Motorola support and Moto X support link on the email of the order. Motorola seems to be out sourced to India and Moto X in the states.
The best for us was the app in the phone Moto Care...its busy now with the holiday but normally about 1 or 2 in queue.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. My experience has been great so far!
Hello,
I've owned a pixel device for about 2 months now and had started to experience issues with the battery life, standby battery drain and phone shutting off at about 20 percent each time. So I call up google support and explain these issues to them. They agree to replace the device for me. Having purchased the device from a retailer other than google I did not have the option to advance RMA and had to go with the standard one.
On 15th of Feb, I received a mail with shipping labels and other RMA details. On 22nd Feb I send in the phone which they received on 27th. Google is yet to acknowledge this through any mail but their support team over the phone assured me that the phone was received.
Initially, I was promised that a new or refurb phone will be dispatched immediately after the tracking details were updated. Google never met this expectation and so I call them up regarding the same and I was told that it could take 5-10 days for them to process the RMA. At this moment I requested them if they could do anything to expedite the process but they responded negatively every time and told I have no option but to wait which by the way is still the same answer I get every time I call them.
After 10 days passed I hadn't yet received any mail or updates regarding the new device, so I call them up and question the same to them, to which they replied that they need to escalate the case and that it would take them another 48 hrs to resolve the issue. It has now been 4 days since and google still has no idea where my old or the new phone is and they tell me to have patience and wait for the back end team to reply. I must have now spoken to at least 10 representatives and they all give me the answer that nothing can be done about it and that make me feel as if I shouldn't have gone in for the RMA in the first place. I've even requested them to send me back my old faulty unit but refuse to do even that as they don't have the authority to do that.
After reading online, I wasn't shocked to find that am not the only one who has faced such an issue. But what shocked me was that the person hadn't received a device for 50 days and was going to court to file a complaint. Am scared that I don't become a victim of poor google after sales service and have to go to the extent of going to the court.
Edit : - Ok. So I've just gotten off the phone with another representative and he has informed me that I should wait for at least another 48 hrs. So that makes the total turn-around time of about 20 days. That is if they happen to resolve the issue this time.
About two weeks ago I RMA'd my wife's Google Store Pixel (it had the dead-mic-and-speakers disease), and it was smooth as silk.
Refurb was immediately shipped to me via Fedex 2-day, and as expected they placed an auth against my credit card for the cost of the replacement. I shipped back the defective unit three days after I received the refurb.
I like the part where they say in order to get a replacement phone you need to enter your card info, but you wont be charged....just a hold of some sort. So, you enter your card info, submit the order and then they charge you the entire $700+. So you're out of a ton of money until they decide to give it back. You'd think as soon as they receive the old phone they will release the funds back to your account, but before I even received the new phone,4 days later, they gave me my money back. I didn't even send them the old phone, so WTF was the big idea in holding my money if they were just going to give it back before even receiving the old phone? I read about another guy who experienced the same thing and he had to call his creditors and whoever else automatically deducts from his account, because he didn't have the funds to cover his bills. I'm sure theres a lot of people out there who can't cover that even for a few days, or at all. What if you only have $400 to your name?
I dont see why they they dont do like everyone else by sending you the new phone and waiting until they get the old one before they decide to charge you for it.

Mine had that problem. Dead mic, speakers, couldn't make calls, but mine was also really laggy. It was strange because I called my boss in the morning (the day my phone took a dump) and a couple hours later it just stopped working for no reason. Is this a known issue? Has anyone pinpointed a cause?
EDIT: Ok so I just read up and apparently a solder joint/circuit can split disabling all sound and audio processing. Which makes sense, because I couldn't even makes calls using a bluetooth heaset
That stinks. I had a replacement phone in less than 48 hours from the time I sent my old one via FedEx.

I just thought I'd fill in some info about credit cards - nothing actually useful for the main problem this thread is about.
More than likely it was actually a "pre-authorization". A pre-authorized charge effectively puts whatever amount on hold and appears as if it's just a normal transaction. In actuality, unless the company who made the charge (Google) takes action, a pre-authorized amount automatically falls off your credit card after up to 5 days or so. I'm not an expert on this, and I don't work in the credit industry - just from working lots of retail, which I don't do anymore, either. So basically, Google didn't control when the charge no longer appeared on your card, and it only would have remained on your card if Google took further action "solidifying" the pre-authorized amount. There's probably a better explanation but as I said, I'm no expert.
Hello
i am a pixel owner,i live in Greece but the device is bought from USA.So i don't know what to do if something goes wrong with the device.
I make a research but i can't find an email or something else to ask google what to do.Does anyone knows how i can find from where my device is bought?
Thanks in advance
For warranty reasons is it best to always buy directly from Google ? I just got mine from Google Store.

Yes.
I hear all these stories about RMAs, shipping in your phone, and the entire hassle of packing it up, taking it to a shipping center and hoping it makes it there, etc, i honestly hope I do not have to go through any of that. It sound like a pain!
For a short time last year i tried out an iPhone, and there is nothing like being able to walk into the store, buying it, and having someone there to answer your questions. When I decided not to keep it , i simply took it back, told the dude 'its not for me right now' , got an instant refund on my card and literally did not get drilled on exactly why I was returning it. From the time I walked out my door to the time I got home about an hour ish of my time and hassle.
I like Google stuff, and i really like my Pixel, no issues at all with it, but that Iphone buying experience is what Google needs to meet or exceed. I know we are living more and more in an online world, but Google needs to figure this out FAST, or they will not be able to compete with that kind of customer service and support considering the cost of this thing and all the drama I have heard about people returning it. I highly doubt you would get a run around and be made to wait if there was a Google store like an Apple Store.
Its about the customer service/support for buying a very high value item and not being treated like a turd from what it seemed like the OP is being treated.
Actually no alot of us enjoy never having to walk in to an Apple store, most of the time you have to have an appointment or wait an hour in my area. Google support has always been above and beyond here but I deal through project fi, they have excellent customer service. Far beyond Apple Care and cheaper imo.
Ok so lets go back to the beginning. I ordered my one plus 8 pro on the prelaunch on the 22nd and i had issues with battery drain i thought was just me well i decided to root it once i received it and this was before really messing with it. After i rooted i realized my fingerprint scanner wasnt working and went through trouble shooting and One plus set up a remote flashing. Anyways they used MSM and tried to flash my device 4x and canceled it mid flash twice and it ended up in qualcom crash mode. I Was forced to set up an RMA over a week n half ago and they just received the phone on the 1st due to ups issues. It was inspected and my replacement was supposed to go out today and it didnt so i contacted oneplus and they had no idea what was going until i received an email a lil bit ago that they are out of stock and it can take up to 30 days for a replacement. They want me to take a refund or wait for a replacement but the problem is on the prelaunch i got the free wireless charger and bullets and they wont allow me to return them and want to deduct the price of both items. The have given me no other options. I am only making this post so that anyone who needs to RMA will now you may not get a replacement device because they are out of stock and dont keep replacements on hand.

Theres clearly stock issues all over. Atleast they have agreed to give you a refund or a replacement dont see they issue of why they are the worst customer support. They could turn around and not replace your phone as you caused the issue....
Honestly. Just wait.
Don't return anything, just let it come.
Call them daily and become a pain in their backsides.
Bummer, but might show up sooner...

Well guys today i was told that if i wait and something is wrong with the device i will be out of warranty to replace it again or refund so i can either get refund now or im screwed.
its ridiculous how they are trying to screw the customer over. I have bought every oneplus device since the 3 and i have called everyday and they told me today that if i dont return the headphones they will charge me for the free gifts so i have to return them if i wanted a refund and i asked if i received this new device and something was wrong would i be able to get a new device or have it replaced and they said no cause after May 31st i would receive a refurbished device and will not be able to get a refund for any purpose. I am honestly over it and thinking about switching to the pixel just because i have never had this issue when returning an item to them.

You might wanna call back I talk to the main support team and they said that all purchases have been extended to the 31st of this month and will not refund or replace any phones unless refurbished after that. The first time I called they said the same untill I talk to a guy who got ahold of the main support team and they verified that it doesn't reset just they will extend till the 31st.

That can't be true can it?
In fact I'm pretty sure with a phone that's less then a month old you still have two years warranty.. RMA or not.
The guy who told you otherwise is talking bubbles.
You have two years end of. It's your absolute right.
Don't return anything, let the phone come back to you and you'll retain your warranty. This is their fault and that is that.

You'd prolly need to find the relevant laws to begin with, or scour their ToS and warranty info. That's a bit of time itself.
Then, you'd need to present a case with them, and who says they're remotely competent. OP customer support has legitimately been worse than google as customer support. I honestly feel it's there to put a check mark on paper.
So lets say that with said proof, they still deny it. Ok, cool. Now what? I mean, if you're fortunate, you can take them to court over it. But this isn't a small business. Some companies will legitimately draw out court cases and more, simply for the fact you'll have to give up at some point, because we all don't have hundreds of thousands waiting in the bank, and the years to process the info. By the time you even did succeed anywhere, this phone would be 5 years old at least.
In all honesty, short of gross misconduct, oneplus can pretty much do whatever they want at this moment, and there's very little recourse if any for them to deal with it.
Corporate tyranny is real. This is my first OP device, and as much I like it (minus dislikes on some) the customer service is one of the worst I have ever experienced. So much so, this will be my last OP device as well.
Sorry if none of this reads coherently, half asleep.

Nah I get you. Tbh any company can act in this way. I've only had to contact OnePlus 2 times and they were good.
It's the situation I think that's causing problems. Personally I'd hold fire and let it come back. Just get one of them to say that it'll happen and you'll be fine.
Or not. Just get a refund and bite the bullet on the bullets, could probably get a Xiaomi or similar device for the remainder of the money
Ok just to update this a bit. I have no idea what's going on now now I agreed to a refund and now waiting for such. They have giving me different stories bout the returns and such but i was referring to the fact if you buy a one plus device you have 15 days to get a brand new replacement or refund and after the 15days it's refurbished and no chance of refund. At first I was told that the 15days restarts once u receive the replacement but now I'm being told that all devices are covered till may 31st.

Thanks bud I have most the chat logs in my email so that's one thing but OnePlus has a special response team that only the call reps can contact and without them contacting them they just repeat same thing.
So let me get this straight. You were having battery issues so instead of doing a factory reset or contacting customer support you took it upon yourself to root the device causing more issues? Now you're mad at OnePlus because you're getting some sort of a run around because OnePlus devices are sold out?
To be honest if it were me I wouldn't be so reluctant to hand out a free phone or a refund after you caused more issues than just battery drain. The initial problem could have been possibly fixed fairly easily had you have not tinkered with the phone. After you rooted the device they tried to flash it and it wouldn't work and you're saying it's somehow oneplus' fault? Yikes
Guess this should be a lesson learned. Don't Tinker with a device that has issues and expect 100% full compliance from the manufacturer. Just for an example I have a warranty on my vehicle and I was told if I do any self repairs my warranty is voided. You should just be happy they're offering you what they have since you have already said it was you that caused the problems outside of the battery drain.
Oh and let's not forget the fact that you want OnePlus to give you money for free items that you received when purchasing the phone. I mean for real they were free..
Update still no refund.

That sounds like they went above and beyond to keep you happy, once you rooted it, they could have told you no replacement or refund.
Also, you will not receive your replacement for at least a couple more months, the phone is out of stock and given the current global issues I don't see them shipping out replacements any time soon.
As a previous post said, let's hope you learned a lesson and contact support BEFORE rooting.

Actually You're wrong! It wasn't cause I rooted maybe if you read the whole thing you'd understand! They set me up with an appointment to flash the device with a flashing appointment and the guy started and stopped mid flash 3x then it got stuck in Qualcomm crash mode and he said to replace it! I have waited over a month for a refund also and the replacement as far as that I don't even want to deal with them anymore! They have no idea what goes on in this company and for over a thousand dollars you damn right I'm gonna be pissed.

So you're waiting for a refund or a replacement? Did you send everything back? If you send everything back and haven't gotten the refund, dispute it with your credit card company.

Request replacement they told me to change it to refund cause it would be two months for a replacement and still nothing. If you want proof message me I'll send you proof. I sent everything back I have screenshotted the chats and all.
