Lollipop notifications - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This might be a stupid question and I'm sure it's been asked before but I can't find a thread about it...
At work I have my phone on silent and my watch still vibrated when I got emails or messages etc. I've recently upgraded to lollipop. Is there a way to allow watch to vibrate when phone is silent?
Sorry if its a silly question, still getting the hang on lollipops odd settings!

Yes you need to have the phone set to "silent" and not on priority, the phone will not make noise but the watch will vibrate. Make sure that the volume settings on the watch (when you pull down from the top) is a set to "interruptions." You can also turn on "mute connected phone" in setting on android wear.

[Q] Keep vibrate

Why my phone keep vibrate while screen off?
Google changed things around with 4.2. Now the phone will always vibrate on silent if it had a sound notification. From what I've heard, its not a bug.

That's a really terrible idea if this isn't a bug. The fact that it vibrates when I get new mail on my g-mail account is really bugging me. My g-mail is highly active and it vibrates every few minutes. I've tried everything and can't disable it. Really annoying.

Back speaker clicks

Hi guys,
Someone else noticed a back speaker click (like when you pull a mic from an amplifier) when it turn on even when the volume is set to zero?
It's pretty annoying since when it's silence you hear that every time you receive a message or some app uses sound even when volume is turned off..
Any thought?

Turn off Gmail vibration when I receive a new email...

I'm trying to turn off the vibration when I get a new email like I have on my Evo LTE. I don't want the phone to vibrate when I have to receive an email even if the phone is on vibrate. I don't need to be notified of the emails however when I happen to look at my phone I still want to see the icon at the top of the screen letting me know i have new emails... Is this possible? I didn't have the GS3 or any Samsung phone prior to this one so it may be a common answer to others just not me...
-I have already unchecked the Vibrate box and Notify for every message box within Gmail itself from my phone.
-It's not in Driving mode like some have stated while trying to look this up online
-I've tried to set the ring tone to silent but that didn't work
Does anyone know to accomplish this? Thanks in advance

On my GS3, in gmail settings (account not general), I have Notifications ticked, then in Inbox Sound and Vibrate I have Vibrate unticked, Sound=silent and Label Notifications ticked.
Phone doesn't ring or vibrate when an email arrives and I get an envelope icon in the notification bar

Yeah I have the same thing and my GS4 still vibrates when I have my phone on vibrate while I'm at work... I have the same set up on my Evo and it doesn't do it there however it does for whatever reason on this phone.

Glad I am not the only one struggling. Gmail needs an update maybe? I just killed sound and vibrate.

Mine finally started working for whatever reason... I had the same information that EJ stated above but it wasn't working however it is now. Don't know what changed but it is working... Make sure in the Gmail app that the sound in there is set to silent... On my Evo LTE, there is a sound there (notice) but it never goes off so who knows

didn't have this problem for about a week, but it started up in the last couple days. nothing in my setup has changed! any thoughts?
bump. this is driving me nuts, like a steering wheel in my pants.
better late than never I guess... I think I found a solution to this!
It's been driving me nuts on my Galaxy s5 and have spent the past few hours trying to get this fixed.
The solution I came up with is the following:
Set Gmail to silent and uncheck vibrate. Leave notifications on still just silent.
Download and use the light flow app to set up notifications for gmail.
Go into light flow and edit the notifications for gmail.
Enable sound and select the sound you would like to play.
Enable vibration as well.
Set the vibration pattern to 1 short vibration. This will change the vibration to a little quick chirp for an email. Much more tolerable.
OR you can do a custom vibration pattern and set the pattern to 0,0 to have no vibration at all.
Make sure to leave both the boxes "Vibrate only when silent" and "Don't vibrate when silent" both checked.
The vibrate only when silent stops any vibration when the volume is on. And I dont know if my logic is right on this but I think the "Don't vibrate when silent" acts to stop the phone from using it's normal vibration method and uses lightflow instead. Because even with this checked you will get whatever vibration you have chosen instead of what the phone typically uses.
Follow those steps and set those options and you should be good.... Try it out!
This worked for me. Hopefully it'll help you guys out too!

[Q] how to silence everything but the alarm?

There must be a way of muting all sound from the phone (calls, notifications, etc) except for the alarm .... Besides manually lowering the volume for each volume

Try Silent Sleep from Google Play, works well for me or Mute Ringer.
Hold down power and press mute (speaker with a line through it icon)

Check out AudioManager. It's a pay app but allows you to control all individual volumes. I use the widget on my home screen when I set my alarm on my phone and turn sound off and I can verify that the alarm volume is still on.

depending on why you need this why don't try airplane mode?
even if you don't need data connection, is clear

I still want to be connected to the internet to allow apps and stuff to update and work in the background I just want to be able to mute all the sound except the alarm in 1 click
My alarm stays on full volume regardless of all the other sounds. I put my phone on vibrate every night and it doesn't ever mess with the alarm volume

Just put you phone in silent mode. Long press power and press silent.
Alarm will never be turned off regardless of the profile. That's a feature!

Not quite what you're after but I use timerific to silence my phone at night

Not sure one ROM you're on... But lowering the volume using the volume rockers doesn't effect my alarm notification volume level.

exactly the vol buttons only effects calls, music etc, the alarm has to be changed manually,
there's also quiet hours so you dont need to change it every night
Such a big discussion about nothing. When you put your phone on silent, meaning all the sounds are off, you will still hear the alarm.
I change it ask the time depending on my usage.

4.4.2 Smart alert missing

Is it just just me or is smart alert not working on 4.4.2. My phone does not vibrate when I pick up the phone after receiving a text or missed call. Another thing is when I receive a text the screen does not turn on. It turned on on 4.3. Anyone know anything?
