Is there a way to turn off that annoying sound when you rotate the phone? I don't remember if I have always had it or if it was something I might have messed with by accident. Also is there a reason why notifications don't ring on the headphones when they are plugged in? I though that was just weird. Thanks and I apologize if this question is a bit random haha.

Set the notification sound to silent. To keep getting notification sounds for texts/emails/etc., go into the program and set individual notification options for each one.
I am told when charging of the phone is complete it vibrates for a few seconds. Anyone know how to turn this off as no-doubt it will waken me?
Thanks.
Not only that, but it makes a stupidly loud pinging noise, too. It woke me up at 3am this morning. I can't find anything in the settings to turn it off.
Anyone?
I don't know why Samsung and LG thinks this is useful.
i dont wake up for anything!! i havent noticed this once yet. does it only ping/vibrate when you are charging when the phone is on? or when it off also?
Only when it's on. I think that the pinging noise is controlled by the System volume slider in the settings menu, I had it up to full which is probably what caused it to wake me. I've put it down to about 2 now but am yet to test to see if it's quieter.
I can't find anything to turn off the vibration though.
I'm yet to get my phone, so can't check, but have you checked in the sound settings? There's apparently an option for Vibration if I'm understanding page 129 of the manual.
" Vibration: Set when the device will vibrate for various events"
I'm hoping the fully charged event is one of these.
OK, so the ping isn't controlled by System, it's controlled by Notifications. Which is really stupid because if you turn the volume down on that how are you supposed to hear when you've got a text message?
Disabling 'Haptic Feedback' in the Sounds menu seems to disable the vibration part of the notification. It also disables vibration on all other UI interactions, though.
Anyone got a solution to this really annoying problem?
do you really have to have your phone so close to you when you sleep???

If you can try and get me something to go on, I can perhaps try to find out what is causing this vibration...
I am guessing it comes from the framework...

Yes, I use it as my alarm clock when I am home and travelling.

I don't have anything to go on other than that the phone makes a loud beep two times and vibrates when charged.
I mentioned it in one of previous topics covering this problem and I will mention it once again.
SGS i9000 had the same problem in one of the first firmwares. Vibrations and sounds when battery charged have disappeared starting from (I think) one of the first Froyo updates from Samsung.
Samsung will hopefully address this problem sooner or later.
I had autostarts purchased, from back when I had to worry about what was running. Looking it seems on plugging the phone to usb or charger it launches "Mtp application" guess that would be a good place to start.
On a slightly different note. Once the phone is fully charged, it stars to drain again. Is there an alarm clock app that keeps the phone around 98% then starts charging again 30 mins before the alarm is due?

But doesn't you change the sms sound from the sms app? Thats how it works usually in Androids. The notification sound is for any other notifications, but you can change different for the sms sound. Thats how it works in Nexus S at least. Same for the gmail app also.
I guess this is in services.jar
I will take a look shortly.
...uurm...dunno if this is what you guys want but
Have your mobile on silent. (Alarms will ring in silent mode)
Go to settings - sound - vibration - Only when not in silent mode
It won't vibrate nor make a sound whilst your asleep

Please. I would be more than happy to send a donation!
There might be a solution if you are rooted...
In the folder /system/media/audio/ui there's a file called Charger_Connection.ogg and you can rename that to Charger_Connection.ogg.bak (personally I use adb and the 'mv' command, Root Explorer should work fine too).
Plugging in the USB cable now doesn't make a noise, just waiting to see what happens when it's fully charged...!
UPDATE: Nope, it uses a different noise... still looking...
Not sure what's going on but I always put my phone on silent when I sleep but for some reason I'm still hearing notifications.

Having the same issue with the phone ringer not the notifications.
It seems that the phone keeps the ringer option active for all the profiles, if I set the ringer to silent in the settings than the phone does not ring with the "sound" profile.
Same issue here no matter what sound profile I choose. Using a T-Mobile S7 edge
Same issue here as well. Set to silent at the email notification went off. One time I set to silent, and the alarm would not function. Rebooting seems to fix all
at some point of the day i noticed my notification sound no longer working.
I got all the msgs on my notification but with out sound.
turning off and on didnt fix. only the battery pull worked.
it happened like every once a day. some times I have to do battery pull twice a day.
I had this phone for a wk now.
anyone having notification sound issue?
even the turn off screen and on sound muted.
There's a few bugs, nougat is brand new, they'll fix things. My headphone kept buzzing one time until a restart
Its not just you. And I don't think its exactly something to do with Android 7.0
If you look at how your audio menu is when you change the ringer volume, you'll see that when the phone is set to vibrate, it actually MUTES the other two sliders.. it doesn't set them to vibrate. With that in mind, it seems more likely LG has a bug, than Android 7.0 having a bug.
Having this problem as well with my H910 (AT&T). It's very frustrating indeed. What's even worse is that it seems sporadic in nature, sometimes I will get a notification chime, sometimes I won't. As skyedream said, a battery pull is the only way to get consistent notification sounds, if only temporarily.
I think I get this too. Often I pull my phone out of pocket to find I had a text that I never heard.

I had this problem too yesterday where it was just frozen. Did a restart and all seemed ok after. First time that happened.
This happens to me as well. Also, I will get double notification sounds at times. Like an echo. Or, a different sound mixed with my selected sound. A reboot fixes. Have to do it a couple times a day. Very annoying.
No sound for notifications + no web video playback
I also have same issue with notifications. No pattern on what causes this, but a reboot gets rid of this (just for sometime! and the problem is back). I have also noticed apps not working smoothly and unable to play web videos including from Youtube app and Facebook App. Overall, tad disappointed with the software quality on this set.
Phone notification vibrate shuts off all other notification sounds

Good call, thanks! I also notice that even though I have Sound Settings-Volume-Touch & Feedback sounds Off, I still get haptic feedback vibration on keyboard while typing this reply to you. It goes away when I go into Sound Settings-Vibration Strength, & turn slider off for Vibrate on tap. The Settings software isn't connecting the overall Volume Profile with the Vibrate Strength settings it seems. I don't know enough to know whether this is Android or LG. Under Vibrate Strength you can control notifications too, though haven't yet tested. Hope this helps til it gets fixed.

I just tested texting...even though on quick settings slider notifications for text are grayed out, while call setting show vibrate only, in the full settings menu, under Vibrate Strength, you can slide the vibration strength up...I did this, sent myself a text, and phone vibrated the notification. I think it's messed up that I can't shut my call notification off completely, including nvibrate quickly with volume key or quick settings. Have to go into full settings menu sound & select silent. Please fix this Android/LG.

Ya, I have the exact same problem... (I have a H990DS)
I can't seem to even fix it with a reboot.
I have emailed LG about the problem - we'll see what they say...

I experience the same as you. I usually clear regents and then hit restart and all my notification sounds come back and videos. I'm just wondering, are you using any type of ad blocker? I use the ad block browser and I've noticed that whenever I open my browser, that's when my notifications get muted.
Issue resolved after update
Hi, looks like this issue is resolved with the update I got in January 2017 end. But not sure what caused it to fail in first place. But as of now, all is well after the update. Cheers!
I still have this problem over here on T-Mobile. Very annoying.
Anyone ever find a fix? Having these issues on a new LG V20 US Unlocked connected to Verizon.
Bumping this to see if anyone has found a solution to this. My V10 started muting notifications when the ringer volume was set to vibrate on one of its later updates. I figured it was a glitch in my phone since I didn't see anyone else complaining about it. This was one of the reasons i decided to upgrade to a V20. I was pretty surprised that it did the exact same thing and it's apparently by design. Who in their right mind would think this was a good idea?
I'm not sure of the cause, but I had many calendar reminder alarms fail to sound over several days when I got this V20. I tried different calendar apps and ended up with one called aCalendar. It works OK most of the time, but there is still a serious issue. If ANY other kind of notification happens to sound right when a calendar alarm needs to sound, the calendar will NEVER sound its reminder notification for the alarm. I've had this happen several times with incoming text or social networking message notifications. I hear those, and then the subsequent alarm that should have sounded concurrently is silent. I've had to set 2 reminders for the same important event, spaced 10 minutes apart, to try to reduce the odds of this issue hijacking an important notification. I've not seen this exact problem ever before on any Android device. My US Unlocked V20 is 100% stock. No idea what to do about it. But from what I can glean online, neither LG nor Verizon plan to push any future updates on the V20, so we're stuck.
For contact selecting unique notification tones that actually stopped working
I got this LG v20 and I loved it...still do....but... how do I keep certain text notification tones thst i select to not change back to default?...on its own? Crazy. I use zedge ap to download ringtones n notification tones. Maybe there is an issue there?
@Dkb123,
If you could please add some punctuation to your post, it might be easier to read so someone can understand your problem and help you .
I am using a rooted HTC One m10 with Viper ROM and am having the same problem. Echos notification noises, turns off alarm and notification sounds, and it is beyond annoying. I have already had to reset it twice to try to fix it and nothing has worked. I have no idea what is causing it but when I try to open my alarm app it says it was disabled and could have been caused by a system time change (which didnt happen) or battery saving (where I have it whitelisted). I will try disabling my ad-blocker. I'm not sure how those things could be connected but since it was suggested I will give it a go. I am consulting all of the developers I know about this but so far nobody has an answer. I am kind of starting to freak out because I need my phone to work. I have 3 kids under the age of 6 in school and need to know when someone has to get in touch with me. Before the last reset, I also saw that when my notification was disabled and I went back in to reenable it, it had been switched back to the sound I had selected the time before that. One more note. When I go in to check my notification noises, all of them, my ringer, notifications, and alarm, are all blank for about one half second before they repopulate and then show the correct tones. If it were as simple as it being my ROM someone would have posted it on the thread because it is a pretty big problem to have gone unnoticed. Is it possible we are all running an app or have a shared setting that is causing this to happen to only us. I had to dig pretty hard to find this thread in the first place. It might help if we posted a list of our apps, what do you guys think?

Hi. You posted this in the wrong area. This is for the LG V20. Try searching the HTC One M10 area for a solution. Someone there might be able to help you.
Does anyone know how to disable the Alert Ready system in Canada on a NON-rooted phone, so I don't get these stupid notifications? 99.9% of these are so far away that they're pointless.
I already disabled the Emergency Alerts option in the Messages app but that doesn't appear to have worked.
Has any tried removing com.android.cellbroadcastreceiver through ADB? Not sure the consequences of doing that...Might just screw everything up lol. I haven't had time to test.
Thanks.

If you have TWRP recovery, just make a full backup and try.
Did you get this to work? I want to turn them off as well!
I'm not rooted and didn't have time to backup and try.
It should work but you will lose all system broadcasts (data usage notification, roaming notification, etc.)
So I finally had the time to try this after being woke up several times at 3 and 3:45am for an alert happening 1600km's (1000 miles) away and this didn't work.
There is no package on my phone called com.android.cellbroadcastreceiver.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Quite honestly if you guys don't have anyone to call you for whatever reason in the middle of the night, make a "routine" for silent mode during your hours of sleep. I'm in Canada and I was never woken up by these messages. My phone goes to vibrate from midnight to 6am. Barely an inconvenience...
Yeah, unfortunately I can't put my phone into silent mode or turn off for the night.
I don't mind getting amber alerts, I think they are important, I just need to get rid of the sound lol. I wish there was an option to disable the loud alert and just get them silently - If I'm out during the day, I would see them even if they are a silent notification.
FYI - it looks like putting the phone in silent mode or turning on do not disturb doesn't work for stopping the Canada Alert Ready broadcast.
Still looking a way to mute the alert...
I've been wondering too... Got like 6 in a row today about 5 minutes apart each, same thing for 1000s miles away. I tried within messages app but no dice despite there being settings available.
I did just try blocking that number those all came from to see what happens there if anything.
The odd thing also is, when one comes through it changes my notification vibration intensity to far less in my settings. And for whatever reason, my keyboard vibration seems attached to that setting too. So to type after getting these alerts I was missing most of that haptic feedback that I enjoy - though most don't. Finally figured it out
I don't understand the many in a row with the same info. Thankfully I was awake at the time, this time.
I wouldn't mind at all if they pop up, with no sound and no vibration. But no such luck so far.
I'm not even sure as a rooted user what I could do to stop them. My last device didn't support them. This is new to me! I would keep this device in wcdma mode and avoid completely, but for whatever reason texts take SO long to send on anything except LTE...

i was getting them on my Cricket S9 until i flashed the U1 firmware and removed any sign of cricket from the phone. I havent got one alert since then
I bought my phone outright unlocked though from best buy .ca, not from a carrier so it's not carrier branded at all. Seems the sim card presence is all it takes to perform alerts....
i *may* have come across something! I wont know until theres another alert whether or not these settings are overridden as well when amber alerts come in. But just tonight, kind of my accident, I had plugged in my phone to my PC, and while intending to change usb connection type, i actually found a whole other menu of settings. the notification for "usb for file transfer" given by Android System, I accidently long held on it, and then i got curious so i clicked details. that brings up this menu of android system notifications, one of which is "alerts" which was by default set to urgent under importance. scroll down a bit more theres another option "network alerts" which was also set to urgent.
Ive fixed both of these. And now, we wait... this may have already been tried, im not sure. but i just wanted to share in case it hadnt
Didn't know that menu existed. My 'alerts' was set to sound (beep once) and the 'network alerts' was set to sound and pop-up. Not sure if these are for the network alerts like amber alerts or for other alerts such as roaming, etc. I live close to the border and will go down next week. I usually get a data and roaming alert when I cross into the US. I'll see if I still get it with those two turned off. Have to wait and see with the emergency alerts...

Hmm interesting keep us posted! I wondered if they were all in the same category, maybe severe weather and amber are "alerts" and roaming is "network alerts" ? Not sure but maybe? Either way I put both to no sound. I don't mind the visual popup, it's the overriding sound settings that scared the crap out of me while sleeping. Silent is fine
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
So I went to the USA twice in the past week. I had the 'Alerts' turned off both times and:
First trip, I had the 'Network Alerts' turned ON and I received my alert that I was roaming.
Second trip, I had the 'Network Alerts' turned OFF and I did not received my alert that I was roaming.
So that definitely prevents the alerts from your service provider. We'll have to wait and see with the next amber alert if it prevents that as well.
So we got an alert tonight... I can't say on vibration, but my phone was on silent and it definitely didn't make that horrific screeching sound. I wasn't in the room so I can't speak on if it still vibrated or not. I have mine set for visual only but no sound or vibration... Hopefully if there's an update I'll be next to my device to confirm further on if its totally silent like I set it to or if it over rides and still vibrates... But horrific screech is definitely gone so far [emoji846]
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
So I had my phone on me for the first alert and the volume of my phone was turned down. I received the alert and the horrible screeching sound but it was at the volume I had my ringer set to so the volume was low.
I turned my phone to vibrate after that in case there were updates - I didn't want to be woken up. Not sure if my phone vibrated or not but there was no sound for any of the updates I received (two I think total).
I never received anything from today's amber alert text - no popup, no annoying sound, nothing at all.
I use Google Messages for my text messages and did the following in Samsung Messages:
1. In Samsung Messages>Settings, I disabled all permissions and blocked all notifications under all sub categories.
2. In Phone Settings>Apps I selected Samsung Messages and under App Settings I blocked all notifications, revoked all permissions, set Appear on top, Change system settings and Install unknown apps to Not Allowed. I also Force Stopped Samsung Messages to be sure.
Then I set Google Messages as the default messaging app.
Another user on Reddit wrote:
"This technique works because the Android Messages app expects the com.android.cellbroadcastreceiver package to handle WEA message (so Android Messages doesn't have any code to receive them), and the Samsung Messages app (which you can't remove, which does have WEA support) no longer has any permissions to receive anything, so it can't alert you even if it wanted to. This deadlock basically ensures you won't get alerts, provided you never enable Samsung Messages ever again."
This disables all alerts. It's too bad they didn't develop this system to allow users to silence the alerts. I'd be fine with a popup or message, I just don't want to be woken up at 3am to a blaring siren for something happening 1000km away from me...
I can confirm that even without disabling Samsung messages, all the other settings I had changed made it so that only a silent pop up happened. No screeching, no vibration, just the visual message only. My device was set to silent.
Still can't say what kind of sound it would make if my sound were on or if it would just stay silent. But with the goal being to not jolt me awake and terrify me, I'd say mission accomplished!
I don't mind the visual one at all. In that regard I only mind when it's duplicates of the exact same alert. Just because you'd think they'd want to work all the bugs out before starting to use it.
But if they're testing it today, I guess that means they're at least working on it. Progress!!
Personally I use a different third party texting app cuz I love my theming. But I bet it's similar to android messages where it doesn't have the ability.
I'll sometimes see alerts later in with my regular messages, but it doesn't screech at me. That's what matters lol.
When you've got a disability that limits you, you can't exactly help search to begin with. If anything real alerts just produce a bit of guilt in me that I can't do more to help even if it was for something actually close by.
Side thought though, when it is a true amber alert, instead of just a text description, why don't they also send pictures? It would be so much more helpful. How many guys have dark hair and drive a pickup truck, an accompanying picture would go a long way. Maybe in the future that will be a next step? [emoji848]
