After installing Gingerbread 2.3.5 | CyanogenMod 7 | SwiftDroid (v2.0 RC4)| Mur4ik rom, the GPS doesn't work... only some times works perfectly, and some times I need to restart the mobile several times.
Anyone has the same problem?
I tried with this solution:

but it doesn't work properly.
Any idea?

The GPS for the LG GT540 is only supported for UK and US. As I live in New Zealand, it doesn't work for me unless I use the mod.
If you do live in those regions, see if it is receiving enough signal for it to make an assumption of the location. Wi-fi or cellular data makes the location more accurate.

It works for me, I live in Indonesia. I have compare the coordinate result between GT540 gps and field gps which was Garmin GPSMap and the result is quite good. In the format of Degree-Minute-Seconds, they're only slight different in 'seconds unit'.

I'm not talking about Google Maps, after install RC4 version the GPS doesn't work well. Only some times, in other forums I read that is for the CM7 version, I tried a lot of fixes, but some programs like runtastic or Google Maps don't work properly.
I'm searching for a fast solution to fix the problem.

So does the installation of RC4 reduce the accuracy or does it fully disable your access to GPS?

After a long time (1 day) with the mobile switched on the GPS doesn't work, with any app, google maps, gps status or runtastic, I wait for the GPS fix status but the GPS system doesn't detect any satellite. Only few times works properly.
When it doesn't work I need to make a long batch to make it work, switch GPS off, run "fasterboot", run "GPS fix", switch GPS on, reboot and try it again... after this process some times works, and some times not... so I need to repeat the process until it works and it's a desperate situation.

Do you have data assisted location on? Go to --> Settings --> Location and security and then check if 'Use wireless networks' is only on. GPS will work with that on but will be less accurate that the use of an actual GPS connection. Also try it with both 'Use wireless networks' and 'Use GPS satellites' (if not already) and then try it with only 'Use GPS satellites' (to see if it actually determines location from satellites.
My GPS module seems to be also [email protected]#d up :/

I know what are you talking about... but the problem is when i'm running with runtastic software or walking with navigation the accuracy is horrible! I need that the GPS works properly, is one thing really necessary for my hobbies and job.
It doesn't work from the SwiftDroid with CM7. I read in other forums that the problem comes with CM7, but the fixes only works well with another brands of mobile phones. I'm thinking about to change to the [AOSP][v4.1] Android 2.3.5 or downgrade the Mur4ik version...

I'm using the latest build of Swiftdroid and the accuracy is very good. The cause of this could be the location of the GPS and/or the current configuration.

I use it sometimes of the road or while walking. I use it about once a week, but the frequency can fluctuate. I use MapDroyd. It's free on the Android Market and you can use it offline with a downloadable map.
I haven't had any real problems with the GPS and 2.3.5 although it seems to get a bit jittery occasionally (sometimes jumping up to 3 miles away from the current location) and every now and the GPS seems to shut down and restart.
I use Sygic GPS Navigation but it also happens with Google Maps as well.
Do you have or had 'Use wireless network' on. It happens to mine too. It seems like the location of which it used a data connection on is first used and then the actual location by a GPS.

Has anyone else noticed the maps app and the nav app not registering the gps signal? I checked the GPS with gps essentials and it works fine but the maps app and navigation don't get the signal. The gps icon shows locked on in the toolbar but says "waiting for location" in the nav app? This was working fine right before I did the 4.2 update..
Just updated along with 30 other app updates and don't have a problem with this.

Yes is all over the place...
Navigator starts and has a GPS fix on my location in less than 10 seconds. Under 4.1.2, it just kept searching. Maps worked, Navigator didn't. Seems our problem was ass-backwards.

Not looking forward to it , she had it sents Nov 4th and I have to set it up the same way it is now

That could be why mine now works. I when to 4.2 (from Trinity kernel), I went to stock 4.11.... Then to 4.2. Never thought that doing a clean install may have been what "cured" my problem. BTW...the only app that didn't work was Google Nav. Go figure.

My maps works if I have the Wi-Fi location source enabled but I want the GPS as the source, so only that is enabled and maps just searches as does navigation but if I open gps essentials with only gps enabled it works fine and gets at last five satellite real quick. Then I switch right to maps with a gps lock already established and it acts like gps is non-existent.. boo 4.2! I used this navigation app a lot damn it

Exactly what I saw after the 4.1.2 updare. A hard reset was needed to fix it.
I wiped and installed the factory 4.2 image to fix it. Drastic, but effective.

I am currently having this issue on the 4.2.1 update. Sygic seems to navigate fine, and my GPS toolbox says the same.. but navigation and maps totally fails (for a few seconds, maps placed me hundreds of feet off, but now it shows nothing..
I have the same issue on my GSM Galaxy Nexus with 4.2. Locus and others apps work just fine, but Google Maps and Navigation don't use gps. But at top bar, there is an icon show me that gps was fixed...

This did the same thing to me also after the 4.1.2 update and 4.2.1. Tried to find a fix for it both times and never could. Had to do a hard reset both times.
4.2.1 broke GPS in offline GMaps
I updated my N7 OTA to 4.2.1 from unrooted 4.2 yesterday and just noticed that GPS no longer works in Google Maps offline. The GPS icon obtains a fix as well as GPS Test app confirms satellite fix. But in Maps, it goes from "waiting for location" to "...unavailable".
My N7 was previously rooted under 4.1.2 before I went to 4.2. I performed a factory reset under 4.2 and kept it unrooted. I can't confirm whether I tried to use GPS Maps offline after going to 4.2.
Between the shortened battery life under 4.2 and now the inability to use GPS offline, I'm seriously debating about reverting back to a clean 4.1.2 and start over.
Did the update yesterday and after reading this thread I downloaded a couple of GPS apps and tried Google Maps with wifi sources turned off. No problems finding signal and getting a lock quickly. Mind you, I have a stock OS, no root as I just bought my N7 on Saturday.

Sadly, I am not rooted either, but right now, maps is hosed. Mind you, given that this is a WiFi tablet, it isn't huge ( I prefer 3rd party solutions more), but this is still something that shouldn't happen..
There's something in common you guys have, something to figure out... because GPS/Maps/Navigation etc is fine on my N7 on 4.2.. I haven't seen 4.2.1 yet.
edit: Just got 4.2.1, GPS is still fine. Holds sats, Google nav is happy, etc.
Re-enable Google apps access to location:
Settings -> Accounts -> Google -> Location Settings -> Let Google apps access your location
Hi all, so I've been trying to use my gps lately and when it's off wifi getting a signal fix has been really bad sometimes not happening at all. When I do get it it's 1300-1400 meters off... Can anyone please share help to get better satellite fix? I tried searching specifically for the GS4 and didn't find anything... Any help would be much appreciated!

Try an app called GPS Status and Toolbox. It lets you use AGPS for more accuracy, along with correcting your phones compass. Works wonderfully. It sort of auto loads when you use a GPS application such as Google Maps or Navigation.
Yeah I'm not sure why it's occurring and no one else reporting on it but Navigation is pretty much unusable.

I experienced this on AOKP last weekend and what I noticed in Google maps it would lock on for a second then drop for about 10 seconds then try again.
In GPS toolbox it would do the same thing and still think the amount of satellites it was connected to were still there. It's like the software isn't correctly talking to the hardware. Driver issue?
Sent from my SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
Yeah I'm not sure. I don't even lock to any satellites at all sometimes.

I'm thinking now this may be based on kernel issue perhaps unless someone can refute that claim. I'm pretty sure when I was running stock AT&T I was able to get extremely quick lock and accuracy. Maybe Ktoonz and faux kernel is causing the issues?

that also fixes the compass/magnetometer, and allows a quicker/tighter GPS fix as it downloads data as to where GPS sattelites OUGHT to be at the current time. there used to be a similar program for WinMo devices with GPS; it would auto update GPS location data so GPS locked on faster.

I hardly ever use Maps but today I tried and it would never get a GPS lock. Mapquest worked great so I know the GPS on the phone is working. I do not have Network Locations turned on but it should still work. I have not frozen any Google Apps but plenty of others. I have xposed and wanam, xprivacy installed but have not restricted Maps. Any ideas?
Thanks
Update: I guess there is no choice but allow Maps to use WIFI and Network Locations. It will not use GPS locations without using the other as well. I had always turned it off before to save battery and it worked fine as I recall so it's either a version change or I am mistaken. So accept battery drain or don't use Maps.

It sucks that they still haven't fixed the GPS issue on T-Mobile and 5G. Waze takes about 10+ minutes to acquire a GPS signal. You would think that after spending $1300+ on a new phone it would be fixed.
My GPS is spot on when I just downloaded waze. Did you allow the app to use your location?

Yes, of course, but keep using it and see if it continues to work. Like I said, it will work the first time you use it but then if you try it again without rebooting it will stop working. It keeps saying waiting for connection.

I don't use Waze, but Google Maps finds my location almost instantaneously.
No such issues on my phone when using maps or waze
No problem on my tmobile s20 plus with Waze. It takes little time to get fix in waze compared to maps or here but it gets it finally.
