So apparently soft-bricking a N7 i s common, I get that, I have read all the posts about how to fix this with fastboot and adb so on so forth... problem is that somehow, she managed to nuke the bootloader and the tablet won't do anything. I can get to the screen where you can choose to reboot into recover or bootloader but into recover there IS NO MORE RECOVERY... using the SkipSoft Toolkit, I can get TWRP on there but as soon as it reboots it does not hold that flash for some reason... so now I am at a screen with a robot on his back, cannot reboot to any recovery, and windows no longer recognizes the device... she claims all she did was order Coffee from Kuerig on the tablet and it restarted and this happened... so any help... Oh, the problem is that she did not have USB Debugging enabled and I cannot even get in to turn it on...
If all else fails, you can swap out the motherboard for about $40. I did it to upgrade from 16 to 32gb. It's relatively easy to do...

I got my phone (The day it was released), rooted it, but didn't install a recovery.. or kernel. really just wanted to restore apps with Titanium backup.
Everything was fine. until today. it had restarted and updated the system on it's own. that was fine. then it had a notification from samsung to update the system, so i clicked on that, it said it was reboot twice and take several minutes, it installed, started up, everything was working great, then a message came up saying system would reboot. i clicked okay. it restarted. and now its stuck on the yellow splash screen
i've taken the battery out. same thing.. i'm not sure what to do.
Why did you accept an update while rooted.? It should have failed to install.

The only think I can think of is to Odin back to stock unrooted. Since you can't flash anything. Or Odin a kernel (cwm/twrp) then wipe the phone.

I did'nt accept it. it just did it. .. but I got it working. i took out the SD Card. and the SimCard, and started up and it worked
then put them back and it worked. i haven't restarted again yet with them in it.. but i'm sure it was just stuck on finalizing the update
i'm likely not rooted anymore either. damnit.

Yup Root is gone. grr.
All that was needed was a kernel change, that error is a kernel issue.
Hi all,
I recently updated my ClockworkMod rooted phone to KitKat 4.? (whatever the latest auto-update release is). It seemed to go well until it asked me if I want to restore root (cannot be undone!!!) and I said YES. Now my phone gets stuck on the boot screen (animated colored circles).
I can still connect with adb and my sdcard looks good (whew) but I cannot use my phone. Can anyone recommend a fix?
Thanks in advance,
Barry

Full wipe and flash TWRP.
Or if you like, flash twrp and see if that alone will help, but most times the two is usually needed. However with the way things are, ymmv!

Darn, forgot to ask you if you are able to get into recovery? If so you might be able to backup everything before you flash the new recovery. My bad! :banghead:

No issues. Use adb reboot bootloader to reboot into fastboot mode. Flash the factory image, except userdata.img, you won't lose any apps or SD card contents, no wipe necessary. If you don't know how, I'll post a link to a guide.
Or just use some toolkit like Wug's and do everything from pc through simple menus.
Unleashed by my Nexus 4
just do a full flash via fastboot...
and flash data ...n roms too

I have had my S5 for two days now. I haven't done any modifications to it and have kept it completing stock. I was browsing the internet in Chrome when I got a notification saying there was a security breach and that the phone needed to restart in order to undue any changes made. So I pressed the restart button and it started to restart normally until I saw in tiny blue text "RECOVERY BOOTING....", I didn't think much of it until nothing started to happen after a minute. I let it go for another 5 minutes and then 15 minutes. I came back and still it was at the same screen. I decided to turn the device off and on to see if that would do anything, nothing happened. I took the battery out and waited a few minutes to put it back in, again nothing new. I was looking into other threads about this happening to other phones because the S5 is so new there is nothing on it doing this. But I found no useful information. So my question is, how can I fix this? I don't mind having to reset it, there's only a few apps installed. I'm tech savvy, so I'll now what you mean if you give me any tips. Thank you!
If doesn't matter if you lost the installed apps, then boot to recovery and choose wipe data reset factory and then wipe data cache.then restart your mobile it should solve your problem.

I should have mentioned this in the post but I have tried that, nothing happens. It's already trying to boot into recovery, I wonder if I can get it out of trying to do that.
Try to boot into download mode then restart normally, maybe it gets you out of the recovery booting loop.

And if this didn't work.
I think you should download the stock rom from sammobile or samsung-updates.com sites and reinstall it again.

So I reinstalled the stock rom and now the recovery boot text is gone, but it still doesn't actually boot up into Android. Looks like I will have to take the phone back to the store and hope I can get a replacement. Thanks for your help!

I gave my X to my son last year and it became extremely slow since then. It was running a version of Liquid Smooth. I was attempting to install CM11 on it following the instructions to the T, and then it became stuck, I'm stuck. I thought it already had CWM installed on it, but when it rebooted to recovery, the factory recovery came up. I formatted the system and the cache and then tried to install TWRP, it failed. I tried 2 different date factory roms and both gave me a sideload error. I even tried to flash 2.3.4.4.5.621.no.radio.sbf.zip but it also gave me a sideload error. I guess my question is where do I go from here? There's nothing on the phone at all, all I can do is boot to recovery. The usb port is dead, we use a wall charger to charge the battery.

It did have cwm installed, you needed to select recovery when in rom, by long pressing power button>reboot>recovery
I formatted the system and the cache and then tried to install TWRP, it failed.

of course, if you haven't install moto drivers correctly, you may have misdiagnosed usb port

so there's no way to install a recovery from inside the factory recovery?

if you see mem blank error try
2.3.4.4.5.621.no.radio.sbf.zip or FF-p3a_shadow_cdma_shadow-user-2.3.4-4.5.1_57_DX8-51-120111-test-keys-signed-Verizon-US.sbf.zip

usually that means rsd lite and/sbf is buried in too many folders, try placing sbf on desktop
if it ends in .sbf.zip or .sbf it's ok if any thing else needs to be uncompressed manually
and verify md5 checksums
I flashed the 605 sbf and it went through all of it and then at the end it said passed. the screen was blank but the led in the top left corner was green. I unplugged the phone and it went back to bootloader with the blank message. I'm flashing the one you mentioned above right now.
sweet, that one worked. Now to see if I can get the OTA update.

You are just adding extra steps
you're right, I just wanted to install a custom rom. I've managed to get it rooted and cwm installed now, it's just that once I'm in cwm, there's no way to select the command I want. the volume buttons move the selection, but none of the buttons make it respond. it just takes away the text and shows the back ground image.

Hey guys
I have a Nexus 6P with 64gb internal storage .. 18gb used
I was on whatsapp when my brother sent me a video of 2mb and realized it said failed no space is available...
I wanted to screenshot the error yet also a notification came out saying can't take screenshot because of low space on internal storage..
So i wanted to go in the default storage via setting and see explorer yet the device won't let me go in.. it just flashes and come back to storage space..
I'm hoping I'm not infected with any malware and if so how to fix this please?
If you have a virus best is to manually flash the ROM but to get the space back possibly connect it to computer drag everything off if you can and then format user space

You could try moving you medias to a PC just for a check... Will take some time but worth a try.

Hey guys thanks for the reply. . My phone is not rooted or have bootloader unlocked.. i am freshly on stock original rom.
See here's the problem i saw now.. i turned off the phone, when i turn it back on with no wifi on.. i can cruise and explore the internal sd.. yet as soon as i turn wifi on .. google services just stops and i can't use camera or go into internal storage. .
Factory reset is the thing worth for here?
