Is anyone else having a problem with remembered wifi networks not automatically connecting when coming range, and showing "turned off" in wifi settings? Selecting them and then selecting connect makes the network connect but the next day, the same thing happens. It doesn't happen to all my saved networks. I've tried removing the saved network and re-creating it. Same issue.
I am having this exact same problem! Anyone know how to fix?
I reinstalled lollipop (trying to fix this problem and my screen rotation problem) and that was no help. I eventually went back to 4.4.4 because I couldn't rely on WiFi (and battery life sucked on lollipop).

I am experiencing a puzzling issue with WiFi on my Galaxy S on stock JW7: after going abroad and connecting to lots of free networks I found I went back home, and my home network will not even display on the available networks. It will only appear for a moment just when I enable WiFi connections on my phone, then it will disappear.
I already tried deleting all the free networks I added, rebooting, and even trying to force a connection in the few seconds that the network is displayed. I even tried removing and re-adding it manually, but the problem persists.
Has anyone got any idea on how to fix this?
Thanks!
Try to upgrade phone firmware.
This started Feb 3rd or 4th. The phone will connect to the wifi network, with a good signal. It will then re-scan every 5 seconds or so. This is causing all sorts of data transfer issues from downloads freezing to apps losing connectivity while running.
I am running on Verizon.

I am now running Android 5.0 but had NOT updated to 5.0 when this problem started.
I scoured google a bit and found an ATT forum that is essentially reporting what I am.

All other devices on the network are operating without issue - phones and computers - as was mine until now.
I have power cycled everything.
I have checked the routers settings.
The phone has been power cycled several times.
The phone has had every wifi setting that would be causing this scanning, that I know, disabled.
The following are off in Wifi > Advanced:
Wifi notifications
Passpoint
Always allow scanning
Smart network switch
I then, after the above, updated to Android 5.0. The issue still persists. Help me please.
My device does this, too. Cant say I have ever really noticed, I dont know if it has always done this or not.
I am not experiencing any issues like you describe.
Now that I think about it, I think it will always scan at a set interval when you enter the Wifi settings. It assumes you are looking for a network to connect to. I doubt its scanning when you are not in that setting.
I had this problem the other day. I went to wifi settings and had it forget the network and then rebooted and reconnected to my wifi network and it seems to have resolved the issue. others have just switched airplane mode on and off and this fixed it. good luck
Hi,
I have a problem that my WiFi network disconnects and disappear from the list. Even if I search for network it will not show up.
It looks like a lot of the other WiFi networks around me is also missing when this is happening.
It will suddenly come back again and work as it should for several hours.
I have i locked to 2,4GHz, WiFi always on, scanning is on.
Had the same problem when I used Auto 2,4GHz/5GHz.
All other devices is working as they should. Have also reset the wireless router. (Netgear X4 R7500)
I have the same problem. When I turn the wifi off, and the back on again it discovers my router and connects.
Does anybody have a fix for this?
Same problem here. My 2,4ghz network sometimes just vanishes and shows up after a couple of minutes. And it just won't connect at all with my 5ghz network. My router is a D-link dir 868l. I'm on the latest firmware. My other devices all connect just fine, except for my 6p.
Updated to 6.0.1 and I have still problems. When I come back home, I need to turn off and on WiFi to reconnect. Wifi have not dropped since i updated to 6.0.1 yesterday.
Just curious
Who is your service provider? My girls 5x is connected to Sprint and she has no problems on my network. I have Tmobile on my 6p and it keeps dropping the wifi. Maybe its a Tmobile thing?
reset network config
I had the same problem and try to go to airplane mode on and off then even forget network and add back on. Work for a second and disconnected. So far this way work. Try this.
Got to Setting > Backup & reset > Network Settings reset
Hopefully this will work for you guys too.
Good luck! :good:
My brother has a Nexus 6p and the WiFi doesn't switch on at all after he updated to 6.0.1. I reflashed factory image of 6.0.1 again and it didn't work. I then flashed 6.0 but it still doesn't switch on. Any help?
bump
Anyone have a solution to this problem? I still have this big active, and have been using mobile data since.
I have seen lots of issues concerning wifi but I haven't seen a thread with the same issues I have been experiencing.
When I turn on the phone I see all the local wifi networks and I can successfully connect to them. After a period of time (appears to be random) I lose connection. When I go to the wifi settings I don't see any of the local networks. In fact I can stand next to the router and it won't show up in the list of networks.
I have tried turning the wifi on/off but that doesn't have any affect. The only solution is to restart my phone i.e. rinse and repeat.
I have factory-reset my phone and didn't install from backup but that hasn't made any difference.
Has anyone seen this behaviour and do they have a solution?
Brother wish I knew why the wifi was such a mess but I can't get any answers either.
Same here, after endless search no wifi is found. Connection comes after restart only for minutes, but not always.

Have you experienced this when connected to other access points/routers?
Try turning off "turn on wifi automatically" (just suggestion)
select another channel on your router
Is the network you are having trouble with "hidden"?

Thanks for the responses. I was having issues accessing public wifis and my own private one (not hidden). I changed channel on the router with no success.
I reached out to Essential and they were very helpful and have subsequently replaced the phone.
Mine is a bit curious, sometimes after reboot it shows no sim-card and switches after seconds wifi off.
Could it be a faulty antenna or something? At the moment it works normal.
Hey,
I recently got a used Lenovo A7600-F tablet from my office because they weren't using it anyways.
Everything seems to work perfectly fine - except the wifi connection.
Code:
Model: Lenovo A7600-F
Android: 4.4.2 (no further update available for that model)
Kernel: 3.4.67
Build: A7600F_A442_000_029_150401_ROW
Here is the thing:
I disable/enable wifi
I click my home network and enter the password
Nothing happens for ~2 seconds
"Failed to connect to network" (no "connecting" or similar)
To make sure my WPA2 security isn't the problem, I made an unprotected hotspot on my phone. Absolutely identical problem.
One thing I noticed: The tablet is able to find all the networks around me and updates their signal strength in the list without any problems. As soon as I try to connect to one, it takes around 2 seconds until it says "Failed to connect to network". If I then try again, the message pops up instantly with no delay for all networks. From that moment on, the list also stops updating and can't be refreshed until I turn my wifi off and on again.
I downloaded "Wifi Analyzer" and I can see all the networks' strength values moving. I can close the app, do something else or go to standby and come back to see the values still updating. But as soon as I try to connect to a network, it will give that error again, stop updating the list in the wifi section and Wifi Analyzer will not be able to find any more signals. If I close that app and bring it back up now, the list of networks will remain empty. Same with the networklist on the wifi settings. Turning wifi off and on again resets the whole thing.
In short: My tablet sees all networks around me and updates them, but gives an error ("Failed to connect to network") as soon as I try to connect. Then no more wifi updates until i disable/enable it again.
Factory reset did not help, I let the battery drain and charged it back up - no success! I also tried an app called "Wifi Ruler", which was mentioned to fix a similar problem in a post I found on another forum. Connecting through that has exactly the same effect.
Does anybody have an idea about what is going wrong and what else I could try to fix this?
