So, i have just purchased an unlocked brand new I9005 in my country (Romania), and i was surprised that it came with 4.4.2 out of the box. As i saw from gsmarena, for my country android L is available, i checked the sammobile site, and it's true, for romania there is a version of android L for i9005, but it's Vodafone branded. If i flash that firmware with odin:
1. will i trip Knox?
2. will i lock my phone to vodafone carrier?
Thanks in advance

Hi All,
I bought S5 in UAE, but the firmware shows Hongkong code.
When I checked S5 today at another shop while I did the hands on, I found that after the Android status, I saw United Arab Emirates section under that I saw two status mentioned starts with TR I guess.
So here, my mobile is in use at UAE the firmware of hongkong..my doubt is will I get firmware updates from my service provider regularly?
Is this a really an issue?
What do I need to do?
Thanks
Surendran
ive seen other threads on this topic but none really answered properly.
I live in Ireland and bought my phone unlocked from the UK , i want to get my stock firmware back but i cant find one that suits my model and version. So would i
harm my device if i used a firmware from a different country that has the correct firmware i want????
s4 i9505
If the phone is unlocked you shouldn't have any issues. Except with CSC maybe.
whats CSC exactly?
Consumer Service Code, which is what Samsung uses to customize the firmware for a particular region. With devices that are locked to their carriers this also means the apps that the carrier wishes to add to the firmware. In your case, since your S4 is not locked to a carrier you can install any stock ROM you wish from any region. For example, my unlocked I9505 was originally on O2 in the UK (CSC O2U). When I purchased it from its original owner it came to me with Slovenian firmware (SI Mobil, CSC SIM). I subsequently flashed unbranded firmware onto the device and ended up with a device that thought it was Swiss (CSC AUT). In this last instance, three Swiss-specific apps were added that are not found in the other versions of the firmware. These apps were added because the CSC reported itself to the firmware installer and said, "install these apps as well". Had I changed the CSC to BTU I likely would have gotten some UK-specific firmware.
hi people
long time no speak need some help..
when i brought my note 4 (back on 4.4.4) it was a branded 3 phone and after the second day of owning it i flashed it to a official samsung 4.4.4 to get rid of the "3" branding.. anyway after the lolipop update came out my phone never asked me to update and always stated it was on the newest firmware (even up to today)
so i installed the 5.1.1 lolipop update via odin and the "3" branded stuff came back.. does anyone know where i can download a official UK unbranded 5.1.1 don't like all the branded bits
thanks in advance (im pretty sure i downloaded the unbranded firmware)
anyways any help will be appreciated

Currently there is no official UK unbranded 5.1.1 firmware, there is only Vodafone and Three branded firmware.
You will have to either wait for the firmware to be released or flash repackaged firmware which will install unbranded firmware and keep your current CSC.

Hi. I bought s7 edge in Thailand.
I was trying to find its stock firmware to get my phone a new fresh start. So far, I only found a link to Singapore firmware.
Here is from my phone
free upload
I heard you can flash single Sim firmware into dual one, but I was just afraid and prefer original firmware (before I root it soon hahaha)
Any idea where I can find one for my Thailand model.

OLB covering Malaysia/Philippines/Singapore/Thailand/Vietnam. I believe your latest update is of February 2016
Download Phone INFO Samsung from playstore and look for the active CSC. It has got a country shown as well.
I have a FD version as well with XME (Malaysia) CSC. But from what I have researched, for Galaxy S7 Edge specifically, Samsung has been releasing OTA updates (three times; once a month since Feb) for OJV countries (Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia,South Africa, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey), XSG (united arab emirates) and EU countries (NEE=Netherland, DBT=Germany, LUX=Luxembourg so far)
I have decided to flash the DBT firmware as from the look of firmware updates trend, Galaxies with DBT receive the earliest and most frequent updates from Sammy. Everything is working fine. No Knox triggered. Not too sure about the warranty; i guess it doesn't matter that much since samsung only looks at whether your knox has been triggered.
Good luck
thank you
can I flash German firmware only PDA or i have to flash CSC and MODEM too?
I currently own an Australian Optus carrier variant of Galaxy S7 Edge (OPS) and want to install an Australian unlocked variant of Galaxy S7 Edge (XSA) since unlocked variant has recieved 2 updates since its launch but carrier variant has received none..
1. So my question is will this trip my KNOX Warranty and will it disable my Samsung Pay app use?
2. Also, if I install another country's Galaxy S7 Edge firmware that has the same model number, will this trip my KNOX Warranty and disable Samsung Pay Use?
3. Which country (code) receives the fastest new updates for the device SM-G935F?
4. Lastly, can I install a Galaxy S7 Edge firmware with a different model number? I want to try South Korean variant firmware..
You can flash any official Samsung firmware, and it won't trip Knox.
Someone else asked this earlier today: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/to-flash-generic-australian-rom-to-t3364559
Also, Samsung Pay isn't in Australia yet, and won't be for some time.
The Aussie carrier devices should get the latest update soon hopefully.

Thank you for your reply. Just one more question! I heard that if a phone is rooted, Samsung Pay app is not usable on that device afterwards so will it be the same for installing the other firmware? I know that Samsung Pay is not yet available in Australia but I would like to use it when it's launched.
Correct. Samsung Pay won't work on a rooted device.
Also, if you root, you will trip Knox. You can't use Samsung Pay on a Knox tripped device.
Even if you go back and flash stock firmware, this will not reverse Knox. This is permanent.
But if you just flash Samsung unbranded firmware over your Optus firmware, this is ok. Samsung Pay will still work.
Just to clear up something else, does your handset need to be unlocked before you can flash another official samsung firmware?
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
