SM-N910F and AWS compatibility - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am looking to get a Snapdragon 805 based Note 4. The most common variant seems to be the SM-910F.
Is this variant compatible with WInd Mobile in Canada (AWS /UMTS Band 4 - aka 1700/2100MHz)? At the moment, Wind does not seem to have an LTE service, so that is not a concern right now.
Has anyone else attempted it?
A quick check on the US Amazon website and:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SM-N910F-Factory-Unlocked-International/dp/B00NB1DVII
GSM (2G) GSM 850 MHz, GSM 900 MHz, DCS 1.800 MHz, PCS 1.900 MHz
UMTS (3G) B1 (2100), B2 (1900), B5 (850), B8 (900)
4G FDD LTE B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B17(700), B20(800)
The B4 (AWS) part makes me think that this should work on Wind Mobile.

910F is the international version with the Snapdragon 805. There is no 810 Snapdragon version of the Note 4. Since its the international version it should work fine.

Thanks - fixed typo.
But yeah I am thinking it will be fine as well.

I don't think it will work, the AWS band is being used for LTE. I would say get the sm-N910W

It is not.
Is there a database somewhere of model numbers of the Note 4 filtered by the compatibility with bands?
The 910T, 910F, and 910W8 seem to be compatible. Ideally I would like to have the Snapdragon 805 variants.

newbies
Just got the 910f thought it would works with wind but no such luck.
maybe I need a Modem flash of the ATT variant might be able to get it working but no luck finding that so far.
I will let u know if I can get it to work.

How will International Version work on T-Mobile US?
I referred to - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile_US
LTE:
B2 - 1900 MHz - YES
B4 1700/2100 MHz AWS - YES
B17 No
Wifi calling and VoLTE will not work? HD Voice won't work either?
Model LG H815? Should be ok for ATT LTE, it seems

[Q] SM-N910W8 or SM-N910U ?

Dear Experts :
I'm in the process of buying a new unlocked Galaxy Note 4, after using my legendary Galaxy S II for 4 years so far, and i need your help regarding which version should i get ..
for those who are unaware the SM-N910W8 has the Snapdragon 805 CPU, while the SM-N910U has the Exynos 5433
i live in Canada and right now i am with Wind network, there is a slight chance i might switch to Fido depending on my data usage after i get my Note 4, anyhow my question is :
which of the two should i buy in terms of network speed, ROM development and availability for customization, Phone heating ... i honestly cant think of more differences than that but if there is then please enlighten me
Please help me decide .
up
I choose N910w8, for me is faster than N910U and more friendly with the battery... that's a simple opinion so good luck!
Wind or the Big 3
Wind frequency: UMTS band AWS (1700/2100) No LTE at the moment
Fido frequency: GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz. To access LTE network, the phone must be compatible with: 700 MHz on Band 17; 1700/2100 MHz on Band 4
First, let list some of the features of these devices N910W8 (Snapdragon), N910U and N910C (both Exynos 5433/Octa core)
For N910C Asia, Europe, South America version: Network 4G LTE FDD
2G GSM: GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900
3G UMTS: B1(2100), B2(1900), B5(850), B8(900)
4G FDD LTE: B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B17(700), B20(800)
***It cannot be use with WIND b/c it does not have band AWS for 3G but only for 4G. However, you can use this phone with the BIG 3 and on FIDO as it has 2 LTE bands, which FIDO currently using.
For N910U Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Chile version: 4G LTE FDD
2G GSM: GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900
3G UMTS: B1(2100), B2(1900), B5(850), B8(900)
4G FDD LTE: B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B28(700)
*** it too cannot be use with WIND b/c it does not have band AWS for 3G but only for 4G. However, you can use this phone with the BIG 3 and on FIDO. BUT THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN THIS AND N910C is that this only has 1 LTE bands, which FIDO currently using and DO NOT HAVE band 17. So, you may not get good LTE speed compare to N910C model.
For N910W8 Canadian model: 2G GSM, 3G WCDMA, 4G LTE FDD
2G GSM: GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900
3G UMTS: B1(2100), B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850)
4G FDD LTE: B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700)
*** It can be use with ALL CANADIAN NETWORK including WIND AND MOBILICITY. It can also run all LTE network in Canada at max potential b/c it has all of the bands, which Canadian Networks use.
If you choose to use WIND, your choice for which Note 4 model is clear
I have a friend who has SM-N910S model from Korea ( Exynos 5433/Octa core). He uses it on a Canadian network and he notices that his battery runs dry very quickly compare to my Note 4 (N910W8). I think that b/c for all of the international models like N910C or U, they have different radios and try to look for the signals differently compare to the Canadian version (N910W8). Hence, low life battery. So be careful and choose wisely as well b/c I do not think you want to have only 3-4 hours of screen on-time eh?
ROM development
Back when the phone was initially coming to the market, owning the Snapdragon was a plus b/c if I remember correctly, it was the 1st version to be Rooted successfully, while the Exynos have to wait. Same go with ROM as well. But I think the market has been saturated with both model, you cannot go wrong with either one. But I think that if you want to try out the earliest ROM or changes, the Snapdragon will be more suitable.
However, if Samsung decides to push 64 bit software support, then the Exynos variants are the best choice. But as of now, I think the Exynos still only runs 32 bit as Samsung has locked the 64 bit down. So will see!
Last week Sunday, I purchased my Note 4 from Wind on Wind tab $649.00 CAD. It is a great phone and I have no issue with it so far. The phone runs lighting fast, if you turn off some of Sammy features and animation.
I think present to you all of the information that I know about the Note 4 to the best of my abilities. I think you will be better off to get N910C rather then U if you have to choose between the two of them.
Now, depend on what you want and needs, N910C for raw power but limited as I listed reaons above or N910W8 for Wind and flexibility but lesser power compare to Exynos variants.
***TIPS*** if you look around expansys, ebay, you may get a good deal for N910C. But for N910W8, you have to buy it from Wind then. I would recommend you to buy out right as it a better option in the long run. If you have any question, let me know.
*****Source: from Samsung Website and GSMarena
Well, if you are a power user and need allot of processing power for apps and games. Then I would recommend the N910C rather than the N910U. As the N910C works on the same LTE bands for Canada while the N910U is design to work only on certain Asian specific LTE Bands. However you will still be able to use a N910C in Asia.

Is there a way to add 38 LTE TD 2600 to N910C?

Hello, I want to ask if there is a way to add the band 38 LTE TD 2600 to my N910C who doen not have it?
Thanks!
I have the same problem !!!
No....the bands are a part of the antenna....theirs no way to add more bands

The antenna has to match the exact frequency and modulation or just the frequency?
Because, N910C, N910F both support LTE band 7, on frequency 2600,
FDD (Frequency-Division Duplex).
LTE band 38 is also on frequency 2600 but uses TDD (Time-Division Duplex)
Is the modulation (FDD, TDD) handled by the antenna or by the modem?
The modem is, as far I can tell, the same for N910F and N910G (both same Qualcomm); unlike the Exynos in N910C.
Still no one came with a solution for this? I read that Qualcomm phones can make this change (S5)

T-Mobile compatibility?

So, this device looks pretty sweet. And it might be a good upgrade from my Note 4. The only question I have is, will it get LTE on T-Mobile?
Since this whole sub-forum is dead, I guess I'll have to wait until some people get their hands on it over here.
I am also wondering the same thing but C9000 doesn't support any of the TMO LTE Bands. Need to wait for Samsung to release the C900F in the future
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
In Germany are available these networks:

I use it in UK on EE network and i get 4g with it. no issues so far
I'm in the Netherlands, and I'm waiting for the C900F to come out. Anyone know when is gonna come out?

Thanx. Any good website you can recommend?
I have the Asian version which was bought in Hong Kong.
I can confirm it doesn't work with O2 and partly with 3 (Three)
When i say partly with 3 (Three) is because it will pick up LTE on the 1800 MHz where available and not the 800MHz
Whereas o2 is completely on the 800MHz range and therefore unhelpful.
4g.co.uk/4g-frequencies-uk-need-know
according to the above link, you can get LTE on frequencies 1800MHz and 2600MHz depending what mobile provider you are with and the availability in your area.
Bottomline, 800MHz/Band 20 isnt supported on the C9 PRO.
My question is are the supported Bands software or hardware enabled??
If it possible to unlock the 800MHz via software??

SM-C900F should support 800MHz/B20.
This is what I found to compare.
T-Mobile uses these bands:
GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850 (B5)
UMTS1700/2100 (B4), UMTS1900 (B2), UMTS2100 (B1)
LTE850 (B5), LTE1700/2100 (B4), LTE2600 (B7), LTE1800 (B3), LTE1900 (B2), LTE700 (B12)
The Galaxy C9 is compatible with these bands:
2G bands: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900,
3G bands: HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100,
4G bands: LTE2100 (B1), TD-SCDMA2000, TD-SCDMA1900, LTE1800 (B3), LTE2600 (B7), LTE900 (B8), TD-LTE2500 (B41), TD-LTE2600 (B38), TD-LTE2300 (B40), TD-LTE1900 (B39).
The important numbers to look at are T-Mobile using 850/900/1800/1900 and the C9 getting 850/900/1800/1900/2100. That covers what we need for what T-Mobile calls 3G. Note: What T-Mobile calls G3 is called G4 by other companies. Thus what they call 4G is 4G LTE only. So by these numbers, T-Mobile actually gets 4G. IF I understood correctly what I read
As for 4G LTE T-Mobile uses B1/B2/B3/B4/B5 and B12.
Of the T-Mobile bands, the C9 is compatible with only B1 and B3 as well as a bunch of irrelevant ones. This means that if you are in an area where T-Mobile is using B1 or B3, you are in luck and will get 4G LTE. If not, you will have to be happy with 4G.
However, I came here trying to find out how to set it up and which of three slots to put my T-Moblile SIMM card into, so this didn't help me at all.
I hope it helped you!!

Ugh, I finally received the C9 Pro C900F/DS for my wife (got it from Malaysia), and turns out I was mistaken after all: It does NOT have Band 20 (I used 'LTE Discovery' app to check). I was under the assumption that Samsung's "F" models are the global variants, and always have Band 20. I guess I was wrong.
anyone using the C9 pro in Canada? is it compatible with any service provider's LTE?
Mine was able to use the 3G HSPA + before I update to 7.1.1. After official update, I only can use EDGE. I need help!!!! How do I know is my hardware problem or the software problem??

Bootloader locked?

I have the G950U, im assuming the bootloader is locked, but how would i check?

Do we know for sure this particular model (US Variant) is locked? A lot of hype built around the fact they went that route the first time...

Yes, we do. Lots of people in the TWRP thread wondering why they can't unlock their phones too.
Basically you bought the wrong S8 if you care about easy dev stuff. Unlocking bootloader, rooting, ROMs, kernels, etc.
Now Verizon and Sprint users don't have a choice. Qualcomm has patents on CDMA modem technology and the Exynos variants don't have CDMA. BUT other carriers like AT&T or T-Mobile, Exynos would be better.
Or for Canadian users too. They got Exynos variant with bootloader unlock last year but this year got Snapdragon.
EXYNOS VARIANTS LTE BANDS:
LTE Bands: FDD: B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B13(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B20(800), B25(1900), B26(800), B28(700), B32(1500), B66(AWS- 3) | TDD: B38(2600), B39(1900), B40(2300), B41(2500)
GSM/GPRS
850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
3G/HSPA
850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 MHz
You order off ebay, BUT make sure you choose a dealer who will disable the regional lock like Clove in UK does. Google Clove UK.
This time around SN 835 seems equal if not better than the exynos in terms of battery and speed. To bad we dont get root or.unlock bootloader
