[Q] Failure to detect Note 3 after rooting - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Android 4.4.2
Model No. SM-N9005
Kernel 3.4.0-3215177
Baseband Version N9005DXUGNK1
Build KOT49H.N9005DXUGNK1
Carrier: M1 Singapore
I root my Note 3 because I need to use DiskDigger to recover the photo album which I accidentally deleted while dozing off.
I manage to recover some photos but my laptop (Wins 8.1 Pro) can no longer detect my rooted Note 3 for me to copy the photos out.
May I ask?
1) How can I detect my rooted Note 3 with my laptop?
2) Can I upgrade my rooted Note 3 to 5.1? If not, is there any way to unroot?
3) Is there other software to recover deleted photos?
Thanks.

1. get an OTG cable, connect a USB drive, copy the pics.
2. You can upgrade. but i am not much into it. browse the development threads.
3. DiskDigger is the best till I know.

[Q] Galaxy Note 3 sm-n900x (demo edition)

I am total newbie to android. I was an apple user for many years.
I bought a demo edition of galaxy note 3. A friend of mine who is an expert app developer replaced the demo firmware to a working firmware.
This phone will boot loop if a normal firmware is installed because of missing modem.
Now I want to do three things.
1) Backup my whole current firmware and all the drivers without rooting. This is very important to me. ( I do NOT need to back up apps, photos, etc etc)
2) Root the phone (for using adhoc wifi and few other stuffs). I cannot find any files and instructions for rooting this partcular model ( sm-n900x).
3) Install a custom firmware
I want to backup the firmware before rooting in case anything goes wrong.
Please tell me if it will be possible to do these three things and how.
Another question..... does rooting replace the full firmware/ part of the firmware/or any drivers??

Few questions from a Fellow Note 3 User!!!

Hi,
I had a few questions about flashing my phone and potentially updating to kitkat.
I would appreciate having my answers in same form as questions thanks!! (sorry for being so picky)
1. I heard Kitkat does not allow you to backup apps or modify folders in the sdcard is there a work around to this? (the reason is because I use a program called Es Explorer to move files from folder to folder.)
2. I have a Canadian note 3 (SM-N900W8) I want to get the S5 layout and features such as Ultra Saving Mode onto the Note 3 without losing any of the key features from Note 3 like s pen functionality. Is this possible if so please leave a guide to performing this
3. To get the S5 features onto my Note 3 will I have to first update to Kitkat or can I stay at 4.3,?
4. Will I be able to get OTA software updates on my Note 3 even after I port the S5 features?
5. Before I do any flashing or modifying How can I BACK EVERYTHING ON MY PHONE to ensure NOTHING IS LOST.
6. Finally, will I have to first unlock my phone to flash or mod it?
THANK You!
I appreciate your time.
You can get all of that by flashing ported s5 rom like the RC elite rom , and no your device will be modified so no OTA but you don't need it anyway
Before flashing backup your stock rom in the custom recovery so nothing get lost
Make sure to backup your IMEI before flashing anything.
Go to Play Store and enter 'IMEI Backup' to search for IMEI backup app.
1. It works perfectly fine for me on KitKat
2. Yep the rom link and guides is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-canadian-v17-rcelite-t2840523 (imo the rom is very snappy and good! All the full S5 features and look without compromising on SPen functionality )
3. You have to flash kitkat first
4. Well you can't get OTA updates for the Note 3 firmware, but you will get OTA updates for the rom!
5. You can do a nandroid backup, copy all files to computer or backup with KIES 3
6. Nope

[Q] Failed to update via Kies 3

Hello,
I have a Galaxy Note 4 SM-910C Lollipop 5.1.1 rooted and TWRP 2.8.6.1 2.65 as well as SuperSU installed.
I've always managed all the updates via Kies 3 (since kitkat XEH N910CXXU1ANK5-to-lollipop XEH N910CXXU2COJ5). Indeed, through Kies 3, I kept my mobile update and intact (data, programs, home screen ...)
Today Kies 3 detects a new firmware update XEH-N910CXXS2CPB3, recognizes my Note 4, download the firmware and do restart the mobile. Here everything is spoiled. The mobile is no longer recognized.
Although SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones v1.5.59.0 is installed, Windows searches for the driver Gadget Serial without success. No connection with the Note 4, the update fail.
1) Why this update requires the driver Serial Gadget
2) How and where to download the appropriate driver Gadget Serial?
3) If I do the update via Odin3. Does my Note 4 will remain intact (data, programs, home screen ... will not be deleted)?
I'll appreciate any help

File recovery

Hello guys.
I am a happy owner of a Note 4 N910F. Bought it recently and i love it.
Today, i accidentaly deleted some audio files, some rec's i had and they were stored in internal memory. I googled alot and tried some Unroot solutions (since my Note4 is unrooted) and i'm having no luck and what i find is old so i hope i can get help from you guys.
It has Marshmallow and, since it is only 4 months old, i dont want to root it (someone told me i lose warranty if i do it). Is there any way i can search for those deleted audio files without root?
Thanks
Enable USB debugging on your Note 4, connect it to your computer and try running data recovery software on it. If you haven't written any new data onto the internal memory of your Note 4. There is a chance that you can still recover the files this way.

Note 3 N9005 ROOT WITHOUT PC

Hello, I bought a Note 3 N9005 a week ago & been trying to root it since then , I've downloaded cf-auto root , twrp & Odin , but then I found out that the windows can't recognize my device & this is what I tried to do to fix the problem :
1. replaced the micro USB 3.0 port on my note 3
2. Replaced the USB cable
3. Reinstalled Samsung drivers on win
4. Installed kies
5. Tried *#0808# => MTP
6. hard reset
So I've almost tried everything and to be honest I can't deal with the stock touchwiz lollipop,
And the only way to root it must be without a PC
Can anyone help ?
* Rooting apps only works on 4.1 & 4.4
Mine is 5.0
I've tried kingroot and Kingo app
Nothing worked
The summary is :
How to root my lollipop note 3 without a PC?
Why do you want to root ??

Because no I'm sick of Android lollipop, I want to flash a custom rom, my previous phone was running Android 8 which is far way better than lollipop
Follow the roms instructions .
