Hi!
I have switched my broken screen with a new one onto my G2, but after that it has started to act strange! I can charge it, but only "slow charge because of low power from power output", and when I connect it to my computer it just shows up as "unrecognized device". I've tried different cables and computers with same result.
And now another problem has occured, when I start the phone it seems to start normal with the LG logo and startup sound. But it is SUPER-LAGGY! Like 2 fps, the screen is responding and everything seems to work but with super-delay. If I lock the screen, and then try to unlock it again, it's just black. Like it doesnt have the power to light up again, I still hear the sound of it unlock after swiping over the screen but it stays dark.
But if I make a soft reset (holding powerbutton + volume down) it boots up with the screen lit, still superlaggy, and after locking it once it stays black.
As I said I've replaced the LCD and digitizer + bought a new usb-connector flex cable but the problem is still there.
Can anybody help me with this?
Regards, Björn.
@benbom you could maybe try to reflash back to stock. I know that it might also need to initialize the screen a bit etc. If it's a legit screen also then flashing back to stock might fix your problem. I never had that problem so I can't speak out of experience.

Well that's not possible. Maybe ifyou have a custom recovery but I doubt that. Try to manage to get a PC where you could flash the LG Stock on :good:

Aight, there's just the problem that it does'nt get recognized by any computer, seems like there could be some kind of fault to the motherboard. But it's superweird that it can boot and all functions do work.

Benbom so this all happend after dropping your phone?
Is the usb connector's flex cable perfectly seated?
As far as I know there is no way, but you did factory reset right? did you factory resetted using the buttons while powering up also?

Can't say if the PC connection-problem happend after the first time the screen broke as I never tried connecting it until now. This is the second time I change LCD as it has breaked twice. There was no lag problem after the first change.
The only button reset i've made is holding down power+volume down button until it restarts (which makes the screen work until I lock it once). I've read about a way to reach a reset menu while booting but not managed to get there.
It is all stock firmware and not rooted.

@benbom did you tryed to also connect it to someone else's computer? also try to google more about it cause I don't have any clue really what could have causes it since there are multiple things what can cause it.
hello, now my lg g2 performs in the same way, lagged and with unlockable screen without a soft reset, did you fix that issue?

Hi, I just installed Screenlock:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14621
1 hour later my Xda Mini S which has worked fine for weeks is completely dead. It won't respond even after removing the battery, pressing the reset button, holding on/off. Even plugging in the charger doesn't make the LED light. This was all after I locked the screen with Screenlock, and tried to unlock it again.
Any ideas at all what on earth is going on or how to get back to a working state?

Enter Bootloader, - hold the "camera" and shortly press the reset button, don't release "camera" until you can see color screen, connect USB cable, and start to flash any ROM you like from ftp...
Okay, I have followed your directions exactly, but the device is dead beyond even that. Nothing happens whatsoever
Any other ideas?
Have you tried Hard reset?
What exatly have you tried when flashing?
Did it enter into bootloader?
Was the plugged charger original one?

Yes, hard reset as directed in the post above.
I cannot flash, because the device won't even switch on, as explained.
Not even bootloader - nothing. The device just doesn't do anything.
I have tried 3 original chargers including a car charger. Additionally the device was fully charged when it failed.
Has screenlock worked uberhaupt ?
What does uberhaupt mean?
Screenlock worked for an hour as I said, but after an hour it wouldn't unlock the device and we have the situation I now see.

Then i think it has nothing to do with the program screenlock.. you have just bad luck with youre MDA... it is just died...
Bit too much of a coincidence that. An hour after installing Screenlock, a program which switches the screen off and prevents you pressing any keys... my screen switches off permanently and I cannot press any keys... at all! :?
Continuing from the other thread... as I said, I have no problems.
As far as I know, it just runs in the background, intercepts button presses (like any other button manager), and detects whether the device's screen is brought back to full power - and switches it back to zero power again.
If it installed itself as a Startup item, you should still have been able to proceed to the Windows Mobile splash (if any)
If it were a device driver that loads firstmost, then you still should have been able to get to the manufacturer splash.
Even if it were to install itself in the extended ROM, you should still have been able to access the BootLoader.
I simply can't think of anything, other than mechanical failure/etc., that would cause what you're seeing.
That said, I'm sure people are sufficiently put off from downloading ScreenLock now
Update to this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=213698#213698
(Replacement Mini S is also dead! Is battery the cause? Please reply at above thread)

I tried pressing home+power to reset the device to factory settings but the Warning icon does not appear.
Any ideas what to try?

You either have a G2 or a Magic. They're two different phones. Sounds like a hardware failure.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
It's an HTC magic. So it's a hardware failure? What should i do?
Is there any chance that the bootloader is messed up? If this was the case, the phone should be able to boot in recovery or safe mode, right?
Well you're not giving us a whole lot to go by.
So you power on the phone and the screen lights up but nothing else shows. No splash screen? You can't get it into recovery? You can't get it to the white bootloader screen? If all of this is answered with a NO then it sounds like you have a hardware problem. Did you do anything recently that could have caused this? Dropped it? Flash of a rom, radio, kernel, spl, etc?
Well, it's my friend's phone. As you said there is no splash screen, no white screen and I can't get it to safemode.
He told me that he had problems with the battery, and the phone was without battery for about 2-3 weeks.
Then when he bought a new one, the problems started

ahhh... the plot thickens.
is it an oem battery or generic?
why not try and charge the original battery then go from there
I contact him asking for more information. The original battery failed long time ago. He bought a new one from ebay (i don't know if it was original)
He also said that when he received calls the phone stuck and it rebooted itself. Sometimes it booted successfully, others it didn't
Now it does not boot at all

So its a third party generic battery.

Yes, it is
Well I think that we're all here thinking the same thing. Try a different battery. If that doesn't work then maybe the other battery messed it up. Unlikely but possible.
I have already tried 3 different batteries...
Guys, thanks to all of you - especially frysee, who was a big help via Gtalk - the biggest part of my problem is solved:
My Transformer is still bricked and display won't turn on, but I was able to go back to stock ROM and wipe all personal data. So I won't get any trouble with warranty
If anyone is interested, me or frysee could write a How To for returning to stock ROM and retrieve warranty when screen is dead.
Thanks again!

Hi Guys!
I have a problem that is pretty common over at MoDaCo, but I haven't read anything about it here.
My Transformer sometimes doesn't turn on or wake up from sleep mode when turned on already. You can push the power button endlessly and nothing happens. Then suddenly it'll turn on as if nothing had happened.
I had this problem the first time right out of the box, so there's no bad software installed by me, don't know what ASUS did though. Perhaps it's one of the pre-installed apps.
As I said, normally it eventually comes to life again, but now I couldn't turn it on for a whole day! After I had no success, I left it on the charger over night, but still nothing this morning.
I feel I tried everything, pushed Vol Down + Power to go into recovery, pushed Vol Up + Vol Down and plugged USB to go into (useless) flash mode just to see the device to something, but no.
The only things that happen, if I push power:
- if I plug USB, the Windows plug and play sound plays and if I force shutdown the Transformer again (long-press power), the unplug sound plays. The device even appears in the Explorer and I can access SD card, but it only shows empty folders, no files in them.
- When I force-shutdown the device, I hear an internal "click" sound, similar to the one when you switch from front to rear camera, and you hear the speakers turn off. So it seems to initialize everything and stuff...
But all the time the Transformer screen stays dead
Any advice? Really need your help here guys! At MoDaCo there's no answer so far...

qwer23
I was initially having this problem with my Transformer (it would usually happen when it had gone on standby and it couldn't get it to turn back on again) until I ran the ASUS updates on it - have you been able to update your Transformer on the occasions it did turn on for you?
If you've rooted it and stopped the OTA updates going onto it, you might just have to undo that and get an official ASUS firmware build on there to help fix the problem.

Hi!
First of all, thx for your answer.
Well as I said, the first time the problem occured, the device was out of the box and untouched before. So I don't think it has to do with something I did.
For me it normally also happened when device was in sleep mode, except the first time out of the box
I installed a custom ROM + Clockworkmod Recovery after that, hoping it'll fix the deep sleep problem. And it really didn't happen again - until now
I didn't turn off OTA updates as I first saw that thread when the device was already dead Perhaps it tried to OTA update itself but I guess I would have to confirm this manually right? And I didn't do that...
Reflashing another ROM or the stock ROM was my first idea, too. But hell, I can't even go to recovery! No matter what I do, press, plug or unplugg, the screen stays black!
Nice, another german Transformer
"playing the plug and play sound" means you propably have adb access? Tried getting a logcat?

Ahh. I didn't realise the screen was completely dead, I thought you had it working some of the time as had happened to me.
If you're seeing it in Explorer, maybe it is just a hardware failure and you'll have to get Asus to look at it...

no i guess that it is indeed the same thing that happened to you, sometimes it worked, sometimes not. only this time it doesn't come back from the not working part I guess you see yours in explorer too if it troubles to get out of deep sleep. i guess it's just the screen that sometimes doesn't turn on for all with that problem. but for me it doesn't even turn on for booting

It's possible. I don't think I tested connecting it to the Explorer while the screen was off, I assumed it just wasn't on.
Can you test it with the HDMI out and see if that shows you what would be on screen?

When it seems dead, try holding the power button for about 5 seconds (or whatever time you hold it for when turning it off)
Leave for about 2 minutes then hold power button again (like you do when turning device on) and it should boot.

I'm getting a mini-hdmi cable today to determine if the screen is broken, because i have the feeling that ***** is booting but not showing anything...But I'll have to send it to ASUS nonetheless. Has anyone ever sent a device in for warranty reasons with custom software (CWM, Custom ROM) on it? What kind of trouble will I have to face?
I'd say try it with the HDMI cable, see if you get anything up on it and if the touchscreen/everything else still works, see if you can get the latest official ROM on there, see if that fixes the problem.
If nothing else, you can then send it back with an official firmware on it.
Try holding the power button for 5-10 sec, then press power + volume down (might be volume up - try both) together for another 5-6 sec. You'll get to a reset screen where it asks you to confirm if you want to wipe everything. press volume down (I think!! - read the screen carefully) instead to boot normally.
hope this helps
Its 10+ seconds for a full power off by the way, nothing shorter than that. If you changed any system files either by flashing or by pushing via ADB then you will have invalidated your warranty. Unless you can restore it to the way it was before you fiddled with it, you'll have an expensive paperweight.

Big bummer And sadly there are no "ASUS Stores" around where I could use a stupid employee who has no clue and is convinced it's hardware related.
Well I don't have my HDMI cable by now and will try this first, but if that doesn't work:
Can someone give me a step-by-step how I can access the restore function of CWM without seeing anything on my device? I did a backup in CWM before installing the custom ROM. Perhaps tell me sth. like this: "press power+vol. down on start, then after approx. x seconds press vol up, wait a bit to make sure CWM started, press vol down twice, to go to recovery, ..."
And can someone do the same for the stock recovery to reset the device? Perhaps there's a chance that a failed OTA update deleted CWM an there's the stock recovery.
I know the chance to save it like this are small, but otherwise a lot of money is lost
Regards,
qwer23
On the flip side however, you could probably make some money by being the first to dismantle your device, and sell the photos of the internals to some website like iFixit. Then you could also sell it off as parts on eBay. Obviously it might take more effort than you are willing to give it, but at least it's another option.
If you do decide to open it up I would love to hear what mA rating the battery has on its label. Not being able to find out the actual proper rating from any site has been driving me nuts. I believe it's 6800mA but im not 100% sure.

So far as i know is that sometimes the phone just doesn't want to accept the new display and then you gotta perform a soft reset so that old data maybe also related to the display are getting removed and that the phone Might accept the part then. In most cases this works like that hope that it works by you too. if you cant see the window to type your pin then try to find a video or a image from the lockscreen and enter your pin. Maybe you can do it if you can blind remember how it looked like:good:

I WILL DONATE minimum 10 dollars, possibly 20-30 to whoever finds a fix.
Symptoms :
- LG logo in 2-10 seconds then showing black color ( not actually off but black )
- when i plug it in my pc 15 ish hard drives pops up that " needs to be formatted before use ".
- shows as QSHUSB_BULK in usb manager
- no download or recovery mode
I seriously am amazed that i managed to fail twice on this. Sorry for bad english, not my first language..

I have heard several cases about people making an actual brick of their device with that fix. Again, its only for the ones who bricked it OTA. If you really want to try it, go on, but dont blame me if it gets TOTALLY ruined.

I have heard several cases about people making an actual brick of their device with that fix. Again, its only for the ones who bricked it OTA. If you really want to try it, go on, but dont blame me if it gets TOTALLY ruined.

My friend that tried to fix it found out that it was rooted in under 2 minutes.. i have no idea how but he did it without knowing that it actually was rooted.
I was in the same situation. Managed to get back to download mode by using factory reset.

Make sure the phone is completely powered off. You will need to long press the power button. Best to do this in a darkened room as initially the screen goes black but there is still some backlight. Keep holding the power button until you are sure it's off.
Then use the 2 button combo to get to the factory reset screen.
In my case resetting would bring me back to download mode.
Then connect to flash tool and flash kdz.

im unable to get onto the reset screen
Keep trying. It can be tricky. When you're holding the two buttons wait until you see the screen flicker. Release the buttons and press again.

Me too. Whatever button combo i use i just get the black screen. Which combo did you use? If i use vol down and power the black screen doesnt come up, it just restarts instead.
Volume plus power down. It's really important that the phone is powered off properly. You can check by plugging to charger, if its powered off you will get the battery icon.

i cant get the battery icon, also my phone wont turn off without it turning back on
You really do have to hold the power button for a long time. It can be quite difficult to see if it truly is off because it's displaying a black screen, that's why I suggested a darkened room.
