Hello,
i have a problem with the phone. When I power it up, the screen lights up but it doesn't show anything else, and the phone does not boot.
I tried pressing home+power to reset the device to factory settings but the Warning icon does not appear.
Any ideas what to try?

You either have a G2 or a Magic. They're two different phones. Sounds like a hardware failure.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
It's an HTC magic. So it's a hardware failure? What should i do?
Is there any chance that the bootloader is messed up? If this was the case, the phone should be able to boot in recovery or safe mode, right?
Well you're not giving us a whole lot to go by.
So you power on the phone and the screen lights up but nothing else shows. No splash screen? You can't get it into recovery? You can't get it to the white bootloader screen? If all of this is answered with a NO then it sounds like you have a hardware problem. Did you do anything recently that could have caused this? Dropped it? Flash of a rom, radio, kernel, spl, etc?
Well, it's my friend's phone. As you said there is no splash screen, no white screen and I can't get it to safemode.
He told me that he had problems with the battery, and the phone was without battery for about 2-3 weeks.
Then when he bought a new one, the problems started

ahhh... the plot thickens.
is it an oem battery or generic?
why not try and charge the original battery then go from there
I contact him asking for more information. The original battery failed long time ago. He bought a new one from ebay (i don't know if it was original)
He also said that when he received calls the phone stuck and it rebooted itself. Sometimes it booted successfully, others it didn't
Now it does not boot at all

So its a third party generic battery.

Yes, it is
Well I think that we're all here thinking the same thing. Try a different battery. If that doesn't work then maybe the other battery messed it up. Unlikely but possible.
I have already tried 3 different batteries...

My Nexus one won't turn on. I tried flashing RADIO 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2 that I downloaded from Modaco.
After it failed to install showing the error message like
"Multiple Radio images"
and a few others I try to reboot it.
when trying to reboot it there showed a picture of a android and a orangish arrow and a box.
Help...I think I bricked it.
Help?
Please?
Can you get into boot loader? Hold down the track ball, then power on, and keep holding down the track ball...
Also, try holding down the "volume down" toggle button while powering on if the track ball method doesn't work...
If both don't do anything but take you to that same screen, let it sit on that screen for a bit, say 10 minutes just in case...
If still nothing, see what happens when you plug your phone into your computer with the data cable, is it recognized? If so, can you get ADB to recognize it?

can u get to the recovery image? if u can, its not bricked.
well I tried plugging it into the computer, I tried the wall charger, and nothing seems to work. The LED doesn't come on, and the button combination doesn't work. So I think it's dead for good. :C Before everything got screwed All I saw was a box and an arrow pointing at a android. Which I think meant it was unboxing. I then thought it froze so I tried to take the battery out, and after that it didn't turn on anymore. No LED, no recovery, no nothing. :C Quite sad.
Why the f are so many people intent on taking their batteries out while the phone is updating? I'm not saying that led to the bricking...but it probably didn't help.

This part takes a few minutes. I am not totally sure what is happening at this point but I'm assuming it's not good to remove battery during this. Mine sat on that screen for a few min and then finished.
Try to boot up with volume down button held. Then use volume arrows to choose recovery and hit power.

Everyone expects everything to be instant these days... "Uh oh! The screen isn't doing anything, it's been at least 20 seconds! I could just wait and leave it for a few minutes like all the guides say to do. Or I could take my battery out...how could that hurt, right?"
For me it took a good 3-4 minutes on the screen with the arrow and the box.
Anyways, if you can't get to the recovery then you might be buying a new N1.
ahh it took like 5 minutes for me, I have to admit I was a little worried since you dont see status bars or anything, but like said, the guides warn for this.
I cant imagine that removing the battery broke it though, he should be able to load a recovery image
I feel sad for him so bumping
Bleh. I'll just have to wait and see. I'll contact HTC.

If you remove the battery during the period he did, which is when the phone is actually flashing the radio ROM, yes removing the battery can and likely did break it for him. There are 2 ways to brick an Android device, while flashing a radio ROM and while flashing an SPL...
OP, have you tried any of the button combos we have recommended? Have you tried putting your battery in the phone, then without turning it on, putting it on the charger to see if it can charge the battery at least (you said it wasn't even turning on, which is likely because you have a dead battery)... charge the battery first, then try the button combo's we recommended.
And please, when you report back, and not to sound like an ass, do so clearly and systematically (I can't tell from your posts what did or didn't happen, and whether you tried anything we suggested, nor what the current state of the phone is)... so, please use this format to make it clear to us trying to help:
Battery: Charged or Wouldn't Charge (LED will come on if it is charging)
Trackball+Power: Booted into boot loader, yay! or Went to the damn box
Volume down+Power: Booted into fast boot! or Went to the damn box
And remember, you have to hold down the button, either trackball or volume down, then press the power and keep holding down the trackball or volume down until it either goes to boot loader or it goes to the box screen... you might want to even wait for a minute on the box screen(if it goes to that) while holding down the button to make sure it can't get into boot loader...
Okay so I took the battery out, put it back in, and tried charging it. The Battery LED did not come on, so I'm guessing it's not charging.
The Trackball+Power did not work.
The Volume down+Power did not work.
I think I most likely broke it, due to the fact that I took the battery out while it was flashing the radio ROM onto the phone. I kinda did it on a impulse, which is my fault. So do you think it'd be possible if I did contact HTC they'd send me a swap, and not be able to make my phone work or turn on, and everything will go on as if I "broke" it and not unlock it or anything?

It sounds like you have a true brick... disruption of the radio ROM flashing causes lots of bricks, and did so for you.
It is pretty common, at least with T-Mobile with the G1, to call them up and tell them your phone asked you to update, and while updating it froze and won't turn on or charge anymore. Not sure if HTC will handle it the same as T-Mobile did, but if they do they will just send you a new unit, you send the old one back, and you are back up and running... they might ask that you send it to them first, but there is no way for them to test if it was rooted/unlock boot loader if it can't be powered on, so you should be fine.
Sweet. So I called HTC, and they said they'll repair it, but I asked for a swap instead, so I'll be getting one by either Wednesday, or Thursday. Good stuff! I'll tell you all how it goes. :] Now I am stuck with my Nokia N95. Thanks for all your help.

Yeah, he doesn't have to tell them... but they don't have to cover his phone either.
If they find out it's unlocked after the fact, they can charge you to repair the phone.
How exactly will they know he unlocked the bootloader if the device cannot even properly turn on, unless htc has other methods of being able to "restore" the phone, then he should be rather ok. Am I not looking into this deeply enough? Can the phone turn on with a new battery or something? Does HTC have alternatives ways of checking?

It's happen when i try to flash the 13.29.55.13H_3.35.07.20 Baseband via Recovery. My device is Tattoo A3232.
After reboot there's a Recovery picture so i tried to remove a battery and turn on again but this time it won't boot at all. no Tattoo logo or anything. and then I tried to plug a charger and there's no charging light. and i've plug into computer and no devices found.
I don't have any clue to do now. so i just try to post this before i go to HTC Care. I really hope you guys can solve this one.
UPDATE: they've replaced a new board with the old one. Now my Tattoo is 100% health!
I know this sounds stupid, but what helped when I had a similar problem with my PC (not mobile phone) was the following: removing the power cable, waiting about 10-15 mins and then plugging it in again, then at least it booted again.
maybe if you take out the battery and wait quite a while it will at least show the tattoo logo...else there are different causes for your dilemma: a piece of hardware is now bricked, the phone ROM is damaged, memory completely wiped...don't know what is the cause of your problem - but you should pray that HTC Care will repair your device if nothing else will work
what hapens if you hold volume down button and keep it held while you power it on, you should see spl screen ??
if you do get the white screen with the 3 androids then you are good to flas an IMG file

Pulling the battery for 10-30 secs and then boot seems to be the universal problem solver for WP7 phones.

Yes i Will return it on monday unless someone knows a way to restore it.
It's possible to start it in 3 modes.
1. Hold down the volume buttons + camera + power button. It then sais cold boot and then nothing more.
2. Vol down + camera + power. Then it sais emergency download, and my computer finds it
3. Camera + power. Shows a phone, cord and computer.
I tried the lg phone support tool and it sais the phone already are up to date.
Isn't there a way to load the windows phone 7 software onto the phone somehow?
Would really like to do it so I won't have to return it. I bought it of eBay, it is a customer return, so guess the guy before me tried messing with it to update it. And the company that sold it to me did not check if it was functioning before selling it to me..

You could of course flash the phone with new firmware and see if it fixes the problem, sounds like someone managed to mess up with your set.
There are some information around here how to flash the phone if you feel up for it.

Ok but do u think The firmware is The problem? The LG tool showed that it was up to date, isn't it just the windows phone 7 software that is missing? I am not sure, but wouldn't the phone not show the lg logo if the firmware was bad?
A reward of € 10 will be given to the person helping me with this, and makes it work as supposed to.

You could probably try a different version of the OS depending on what you have now (I bet you wrote what version you had, I just missed it).
There are a few threads about that under the WP7 hack and dev. And as far as the firmware goes it's hard to know if it's actually ok just because it loads to the logo, I don't know where in the boot sequence the logo appears etc. there could be problems with the firmware too.
My first step would be to see if it's possible to get a new version of the OS in and if not, I'd try some new firmware.
And if nothing works return it as faulty.

Lg optimus e900 start issue
Hi,
I have the same issue, I can't restart my phone.
I can see only the logo and the LG caption.
Pls help,

I've got almost the same problem
I just bought this phone via local site, several days ago i'm so much happy with its smoothness but 2 days ago this problem appear, i spent several hours just to find it hanging on LG logo, i've waited for hour to hour just to see nothing happened that time. I left it for bed, and the next day the phone back to normal. But then, at least the device hanging 3 times a day, its just restarting itself and it seems the phone is unable to boot itself to the homescreen. Need help! I've done many way, from restoring, cold boot, softreset, upgrade(when it comes normal) etc but all don't work till now.
Unfortunately, this product doesn't release officially in my country, so i guess i won't be able to get replacement unit. I became so desperate cause i often use it, i need to get this phone back to normal, soon! Thankyou and sorry for my bad english
So, I cannot seem to get into bootloader on an HD2. This isn't my phone and I did not perform the original flash, so I'm not quite as familiar with the HD2 toolchain.
The problem is simple, I cannot load into the tri color bootloader. I haven't ever been able to, so I don't have anything to trace to what apparently removed it.
I still can however use MAGLDR to boot android from NAND and flash android roms etc.
The trouble is this phone needs to be shipped to HTC for repair and I need to restore to stock, but I cannot reach boot loader to use any tools or flash any stock roms etc. I saw something on the JTAG restore product but I thought wasn't ideal if still under warranty.
Pretty desperate here since the warranty period ends real soon. thanks for any help!
Just to make sure....In order to reach the boot loader screen, you need to turn off the phone and then hold the volume down button and power button until the boot loader screen pops up. Just making sure you did this!
yeah, been trying that to no avail
Can still get to MAGDLR real easy though.
thanks

Out of curiosity, are any of your buttons not working?
most are working just fine. Only weird this is the red hang up\power button brings up the shut down menu on a single press from time to time once inside android. I believe it to be caused the original issue (random boot lock ups that take anywhere from 2 min to boot android or 25 min, or doesn't at all before battery dies) but this phone has been so flaky its been impossible at times to reproduce results.

HI,
My reply was not relevant.
Sorry I could not help.
If I am reading right this sounds like a similar issue which I had. I went from my car which had really cold A/C and then went to my room which was really hot. There was condensation on the phone and did not think much of it. My buttons started either acting strange or not working. First I tried putting the phone in some rice as rice tends to attract water molecules. This did not work. I then sprayed windex with the phone off and batter, sdcard, simcard out and then wiped down the phone put it in the rice for about an hour or 2. After I did this a few times my buttons started working normal again. No more safe mode and all my buttons work.
Either that or your volume down button is just not working. In which case I don't believe there is any other way to enter the bootloader. If you can connect through microsoft activesync you may be able to restore the original windows 6.5 that way.
Only thing is the vol down button works fine once boot in android. Power button is only weird one and its only acting up depending on the moon phase apparently.

Ok so I was searching for some links on using active sync to flash but any guide I find also is using HSPL to do the flash which is not apparently present on the device. Would you happen to have any links on performing a flash via active sync that doesn't involve any sort of SPL?
Thanks a bunch
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
HSPL is what is used to flash any rom that is not an original from tmobile. SPL is the original that would have come onto the phone and locks the phone from installing any roms except tmobile. With the hspl program you need to be able to boot into boot loader. I have tried windows mobile device center which is what is used in windows 7 instead of active sync but it does not connect. I am afraid that you are stuck unless you can get into boot loader somehow. The only way I know is to hold the volume down button as soon as you power the phone on.

I'm sending mine back to HTC
FINALLY!
All I did was...wait. I took the battery out for a couple hours, and tried again and bam it came up! I tried for like two days before this. I then followed the standard LEOIMG.nbh to the sd card and it restored win mobile and SPL just fine.
I guess it sounds crazy but just take the battery out for a while or overnight perhaps. I really didn't do anything so that's all I have to offer.
I think this HD2 has an overheating issue or something because it starts to act up once on after a while (power button...boot problems as described above).
Hey,
I've searched this forum on others but haven't found anyone who've had my problem.
I have an original GT-i9500 purchased a little over a year ago around the launch. The phone was rooted and had a custom ROM installed. (Crash ROM). I have installed the ROM about 3 months ago, and haven't fiddled with it recently. I've had CWM installed.
Yesterday I've noticed that the device went into boot loop all of the sudden. I haven't done anything unusual when it started boot looping.
I can see the Samsung logo for a couple of seconds, but then the screen turns off and the logo comes again. Loop. Trying to enter recovery mod (CWM) doesn't work. Phone keeps looping. Trying to access download mode does work partially. I can get to the screen where it says "Warning!!" and asks to click "volume up" to continue. But stays on that screen for a few seconds and then boots to the logo again. Happens whether I click "volume up" or don't.
I have no idea what caused this. But shortly before it started I did see that an app that uses wanam was updated (bubble UPNP) and there was some notification about it from wanam.
any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You have eaither a malfuntioning power button, a faulty battery or some other hardware failure.
This is not a software problem.

I have exactly the same issue, tried plug in power supply, shows an empty battery icon with circle in the center, stays for a few seconds and screen goes blank. It repeat this process if i keep it plugged to the power supply.
Just an update in case anyone ever finds this thread and is experiencing the same symptoms. It was indeed a faulty power button. Having it replaced has solved the problem.
It was apparently stuck on "pressed" mode (not physically, i would've noticed that). Another indication for that was that putting in a battery would automatically turn the phone on.
i know it was before a few months back,
but anyway... i got the same issue too, but my phone was on stock rom without root.

I've got my phone back from the repair service and it was indeed a failure of the power button electric circuit,
(i don't know exactly how to translate it correctly to English, but they say something about secondary electric circuit board)
anyway, it been replaced and the phone came back to live again
I got it fixed today..
I think it should be added as a major cause for bootloop, if you cant open recovery or go to download mode
at first i thought my phone was bricked but then after some hard searching i found out this thread and proceeded accordingly..
I opened up at the phone and checked the power button myself with my instruments.. then i took it to repair center and told them to replace the power button... simple as that.. cost me 9$

Thanks for the clarification! My S4 has been doing that for a while now- think I'll take it to the repair center and get it checked out.
I have same problem
