[Q] bootloader deleted - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

due to faulty usb connection during one of my flashing process my bootloader got deleted. now it won't even turn on. i took it to the service center and they said that motherboard is to be replaced which is costing more than the tab itself. now i have 2 quesitons:
1-> is there anything i can do?
2-> if i were to give this to someone for its display and battery can he access my data in any way?
thnx.

[Q] usb failure, how to unroot?

My phone has suddenly been experiencing really bad battery drain, it would go flat within 5 hours with no use.
When charging, it is always USB, despite using multiple AC chargers that all worked before.
I have done a hard reset and there is no improvement.
It also wont connect to my pc, which previously worked for rooting. It says unknown device, it appears there is some sort of failure in the connection.
I'm guessing a failure of this nature means I'm **** out of luck getting this back to unrooted.
I only unrooted to get titanium back up to work and adblock.
Never used any custom ROMs.
Is there any chance of google fixing a hardware failure under warranty despite it being rooted?
any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks
is there any way to unroot via bluetooth
Google/LG won't do any type of warranty work to your device if it's rooted. People here have posted email exchange's with Google where they have specifically said that a rooted device or one with an unlocked bootloader is a device without warranty.
they wont even repair it out of warranty. I should have just sent it in without being truthful. Now they I mentioned it, they said I can send it in but its on record so they might not look at it.
WTF, assholes.
Is there no other way to repair this damn phone or unroot it?

They are assholes because I am not asking for a warranty fix, I am asking them to fix the hardware failure out of warranty. And what was annoying is that by being upfront about it being rooted, he noted it down on file and then told me send it in anyway, they might fix it if they dont notice it but if they do, I pay for postage! So I said what was the point if he already noted it
Anyway, the phone has been flaky since I got it, never rated LG and after waiting 6 weeks for the phone it breaks so quickly.
blah...

It might be just your USB cable! Stock charger and cable are garbage! When charging mine with stock cable, it always says charging-usb no mater it`s plugged in a wall charger, and when I plug it in the pc Device is unrecognized! It all works well with my G2X cable....
Does the usb fail in bootloader/recovery mode too ?

Tried different cables, which used to work before.
Multiple pcs that used to detect the phone before now just say unknown device and some malfunction.
Havent tried in recovery mode but I think its the connection on the phone.
Will see if phone insurance will repair it.

A white screen means one of two things
1 - you have flashed a firmware/wrong firmware from another device
2 - there is a hardware fault with the phone
Solutions
1- flash the correct firmware using a jtag (note this is complicated equipment and unless you know what you are doing take to a repair store)
2 - take your phone to a repair store for hardware testing and replacement parts (probably motherboard)
if flashing dont help and you cannot go to repair shop open phone and re attach screen pin it
partial screen pin connection also give white screen if it still same then only thing left id repair shop
i am so perfect at sleeping i can do it with my eyes closed

Okay. ODIN can fix your bricked phone, try googling it. BUT if ODIN failed, try to wreck it with a HAMMER.

thanks for that marcuss, as I said the phone is completely stock, so it looks to be hardware fault not worth repairing at todays phone prices..

Screen wont turn off and charging issues

Hi. Hope someone could kindly help me!
My Note 3 is not turning off the lock screen. Its always on!!. If I press the power button the lock screen comes on, after few seconds it quickly flickers (like its trying to close) but turns on again. Its ongoing loop. I have resetted it dozen of times, factory reset now as well but issue remains. I just cant turn the screen off!
It also doesnt want to charge all the time. Is this a USB port issue? I hate to think I need to send it to EE for repairs as its over 1,5 years old and will take at least 2 weeks I think... (cost?)....

Hai,,
Samsung have 2 year warranty within Europe and I dont know outside of Europe, sorry.
But for the phone, if you know that phone havnt been water damaged there shouldn't be any problem, (ALOT) of the Note 3 is water damaged today so be careful with that...same goes if your phone is rooted, could end up paying for the repairs instead.
Phonewise: Broken PBA/powerbutton and a bad USB port..
Hi Im in UK.
However there is absolutely no water damage at all. Its been very well cared for, it looks like brand new including the screen. Thanks

Best would be then to find an authorized samsung service center and either call them and explain your problem or just send the phone to them.
And make sure to have your warranty paper near hand. They might ask for it ://
tried using without a Lockscreen?

Hi. Yes tried without the lockscreen - same issue. Also with another Lockscreen,,, with no help. The screen just doesnt turn off!
Wonder if its a hardware issue - eg usb port? I tried to clean it the best I can, but doesnt help.
As said Samsung offer a limited 24 months warranty .
But root or custom roms etc will void .
The vendor EE is an alternative but under Sale Of Goods Act you will have to prove that the product should have lasted longer etc via an engineers report .
Hi all
This is what I done. I took the Note 3 to Samsungs repair centre. Shortly: they said they probably need change the usb port and screen and will be done by end of day. No calls nothing. Next day I pop in they say its not been done as there is water damage!!! They show pics of corrosion inside the phone, I believe and leave. They quoted fix it outside warranty to £180.
I go to ebay and bought a new usb port for less than fiver. Changed it today, was 15min job. The phone charges ok I think now, but the screen still not turning off!!! Im gutted.
Interestingly I didnt see any sign of that corrosion when replacing the usb... hmmm... cheeky Samsung repair guys? The phone never seen water, believe me.
Any ideas whats next... I cant afford a new phone or buy new screen.
Thanks
Water damage is part of the repair check list and immediately voids warranty .
Not much you can do if you cannot buy a screen .
Plus water damage may be internal damage and not the screen at all .
I do agree with what you say of course. However I never dropped the phone in water. I did buy the explanation of shower mist or something if the phone was nearby, they showed me pics they took inside of the phone: however when open it up this morning I didnt see any of the corrosion. Have I been tricked or am I blind... :/

Dead i9505

Guys, Need your help. You are my last hope !
Just bought an i9505 to a guy, via internet... I know it's risky... The guy was saying the phone got stuck after he had a power cut (his PC shut down) during a Kies update., but that the phone was able to go to download mode.
So I thought it would be easy to flash.
The bad surprise was when I received the phone : nothing happens, no sign of life. No sign when pluging the charger, no sign when trying to boot whatever mode I select, no vibration, no sound, no nothing... I even tried a Jig USB dongle that I had purchased a few years ago for my i9000 : nothing.
I contacted the seller who pretends I broke it as he checked again the download mode before sending me the phone.
I tend to believe he is saying the truth as he could simply have not responded.
Is there any experiment I should do ? I read that getting the battery off and pressing Power for 30 sec might help... Did not work either...
Any other ideas ???
Thanks
Edit: oops sorry, this thread should have been created in the "Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting" section... Moderator... could you please move it there ? Sorry...

Plug it in to the wall charger for a while and see if any thing happens, I've had a battery dead flat before and it took a couple of minutes before it started charging.

Thanks ph0n3n3rd. Trying right now, but not real hope as I have another S4 with a fully charged battery which I already tried with no success.
I also have tried charging the original battery for hours today both from my laptop and from and external battery (branded Anker) which usually charges even faster than the wall charger...
Also one of the first things I tried when I received the phone without being able to boot it was to try the other way : the new phone's battery in the old S4. And it booted. The new phone's battery was about 40%...

type in google some like "repair boot i9505 via sd card"

Hi GDReaper, thanks for the link. I had actually seen it yesterday. I have installed (this was not easy as I was getting an error when try to install the .inf files) the QHUSB drivers... in the hope that this would help the PC not only recognize, but detect (!) the phone. Indeed the phone is not even detected by windows : no sound, no "drivver installation message", nothing that I can see in the Device Manager. And the phone too does not show any sign of connection to the PC...
THe guy who sold me this phone keeps telling me he could go to download mode just before sending it to me. He is even getting pissed off and pretends i'm a liar...

Unless it somehow got damaged during transport, then he is the one who is most probably lying.
You will have to take it in for service if you can't get a refund. I doubt it can be fixed without any specialized equipment.

Hi bes1de, thanks. I can only find this one : http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f777/hot-hot-easy-repair-boot-samsung-s4-i9500-via-sd-card-1693343/ for now but this is for i9500.
BTW... I realize the phone does not seem to be an i9505 but an i9515 ! I got confused because of this : View attachment 3654348
As you can see, the sticker shows i9515 but the "housing" is i9505...
The SIM card reader also shows i9505 : View attachment 3654337
And... the charge flex cable shows i9500 (yet another S4 model !) : View attachment 3654338
Do you think Samsung uses parts from different phones like that ? Or that the seller kind of rebuilt a "phone" from various parts found here and there ?
I'd like to be able to test the parts of this dead phone to see if I can sell it as parts.
I was thinking to tear down my own personal S4 (i9505 perfectly working) and use its motherboard to test the dead phone's screen.
I read that the LCD is different...
Do you think I might break my i9505 motherboard trying to connect it to the i9515 display ?...
Edit: OK I did it ! Installed my personal S4 motherboard into the dead one in order to check the display, the buttons (incl. touch ones) and the USB/charge port : all is fine. The PC detects ad recognizes it, so the USB connector and its flex cable are fine.
I could now swap the cameras, the proximity sensor, the SIM and SDcard readers and see if they are OK...
Edit 2: Loud speaker works fine too.
Thanks and regards !

Edit: Anyone used the SBoot clip here ?
As far as I understand it only works with Exynos phones, so not for my i9515. Any information about that ?
Thanks

Retrieving photos from Note 3

Hi,
I'm having issues with an old Galaxy Note 3.
The story is a friend of mine tried to replace the glass on his note 3 and botched it completely. He destroyed the display and gave up on it and eventually sent it to me completely disassembled(in individual parts)+ a new frame, sans the lcd, but it wasn't cost effective to replace the display so I let it sit and gather experience. He now asked me to retrieve his photos from the onboard storage and here is where I'm stuck.
I assembled the components on the new frame without the lcd and I put the battery in, let it charge for a bit and tried to connect it to the laptop and installed the usb drivers and kies.
The problem is that all the components listed under devices and printers for SAMSUNG_Android are locked, as in I am unable to update or change the drivers. Also, Kies reports being unable to connect to the phone.
The phone buzzes once upon connecting to the pc and the red led comes on(as it does when charging).
Am I missing something important? Should I use the old frame with the broken up lcd? I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks a bunch.
I was able to connect my phone to pc eventhough the screen is blank until I overblew it with hot air.... Maybe the mb has damaged?. Did yoy tried to install usb driver alone without kies?.

Sure, I had installed the usb files before Kies.
In the end, I let it charge overnight and it booted. Connected fine after that.
Thanks,
