Hello,
i recently updated to android 5. Before it i did a nandroid backup. but i forgot to back up my private mode.
I checked nandroid backup on my computer, i founded the private mode folder, but i guess its encrypted. Is it possible to recover files from it ?
or what happens if i copy back the private mode folder from nandroid backup to the new firmware, it will work ?
thanks
i ended up downgrading to kitkat. restored nandroid backup. backed up private mode data. then install lollipop again, so i guess thread closed. but if anybody has a better solution for this. please say so

Hello guys!
I was updating from 4.4.4 to lollypop via OTA, then I realized that even if I run the stock ROM, I am still unlocked + root, meaning that the OTA won't run.
I did a complete nandroid backup via Wugs Nexus Toolkit, including data.
Then I wiped and flashed the new 5.0 via Nexus Toolkit, but when I tried to restore only the data it didn't work.
I decided to go back to 4.4.4. and do things properly, but now I'm not able to restore anything.
I am not bothered with the apps and stuff, but I had plenty of pictures which I forgot to backup, and I want to restore them. I even tried to access the nandroid backup files, but no success!
I was accustomed with the old CMW, where you had the .img files, but I got no clue on what to do here!
I add the picture of the nandroid backup folder on my PC ( I think the data files are splitted, but I cannot open them in any case, not even with 7zip).
The nandroid was executed via Nexus Toolkit, but I guess it has been done through TRWP.
Long story short:
1) how can I access the pictures inside the nandroid backup?
2) how can I restore a nandroid backup that keeps failing?

Maybe CWM does things differently, I don't know, but with TWRP, a Nandoid backup doesn't back up your SD card partition, so if you wiped everything, all your pics are gone. Sorry.
Yeah, I guess so.. Managed to recover something with DISK DIGGER (its an app, free on the store). Just wanted to write it here, so if anyone has the same issue can recover this way!
Hi, can anyone help me on how to turn off/on the factory mode? I don't have the factorymode file tho
I fixed mine. I had an old backup from the current rom I'm running so just booted into TWRP and did a restore and selected the older backup and checked EFS ONLY and then rebooted and now it remembers wifi and no Factory Mode popping up so if you guys/gals have an older or current nandrpoid just restore the efs only from TWRP and you'll be good to go.! WOOT!!

Hello,
I just switched roms, did wipe data factory reset, now when activated private mode with the new rom, non of my files are showing up! Are they hidden somewhere? Are they gone? Is there a way to make them show again while keeping the new rom?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can enlighten me!
Anyone?

The same happened to me.
I think when you switch ROM you lose any data in Private Mode. The only option you have to is to restore a nandroid backup of your previous ROM, remove the files from Private Mode to a folder on your SD card, flash the new ROM, then enable and copy the files back into Private Mode. If you don't have a nandroid backup, then the files are gone. I think it's like this to make Private Mode completely secure, otherwise anyone could flash a ROM on your device, set-up Private Mode with their fingerprint and then access your files.
When I install a new ROM now, before flashing I always copy the files out of Private Mode, flashed the new ROM, then copy the files back into Private Mode.
Hi,
I know that there are some threads talking about private mode problems after root but I have tried the TEKHD zip file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/general/private-mode-try-test-t2922671 and invano method from http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-xshealth-bypass-secure-storage-t2878708/page12 and it doesn't work. I don't want to deodex my rom so I can't install xposed framework.
So I rooted my phone and private mode still works. But after restoring my last titanium backup, private mode stopped to work. I don't use the private mode but want to know how to solve this problem .
I have a sm-n910f running lollipop 5.0.1. I know that it is not my backup causing the problem because it is the second time I restore a titanium backup and it made the same problem. So I think the problem is from the app titanium backup, and not the backup.
I've used Titanium Backup numerous times, (same phone and firmware) without any private mode problems.
If it is a TB issue, it's probably a corrupt system file you are trying to restore. Rule of thumb; do not restore system files.

So do I need to factory reset or I can just simply delete all the data with TWRP? Or I must flash the stock rom and then factory reset?
Problem solved!
What I did is doing backup with titanium backup. Then I factory reset USING TWRP (not using advanced wipe). After that, private mode was working again. I restore the user apps using titanium backup and I also restore some system apps data : I only restore the apps that I know (not the "com.athing.anotherthing...).
Hi, i have a problem and would like to know what i can do.
Before I did a data format in order to flash the XXX rom, ive moved some of my folders to my computer, unfortunately i didnt backed up my music folder.
I did a few days ago a full twrp backup.
Do folders are backed up when you do a twrp backup? Is there a few to to retrieve onlt this folder from the twrp back up or do i need to restore my back and is it safe to do currently with this rom?
