NG2 Internal storage problems after restore - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

After restoring my NG2 odexed stock rom with xposed framework installed, my internal storage quits after a short while. Does anyone know what causes this, and how to fix it? I use the external storage module. Previously, I've unused root explorer, removed the exposed modules then framework, and cleared data on any storage related apps.

[Q] intrnl sdcard problem after trying 4.4 aosp

I wan on X-note 7 rom
I tried 4.4 aosp rom
I restored nandroid backup of xnote 7
everything fine , no fc etc
But some apps cant write to internal sdcard like whatsapp, Astro, downloading files etc.
Samsung apps my files and Gallery can read write internal sdcard without any problem.
Help!:crying:
I am having same problem. After I restored back to stock many apps were having trouble downloading and accessing the internal memory. For example my GTA San Andreas save files were inaccessible and Torrent downloaders stop being able to download any .torrent files from within the app. Please someone help us both. I am using a Note 3 N900T.
EDIT: I solved the issue by formatting my internal storage and reinstalling the rom that i was on. I would advise that you backup your internal storage to your computer then format and place the files back on the Internal Storage. Also make sure you do a fresh install of the rom you were on. I already tried backing up apps using Titanium Backup but that app wouldnt read internal storage either. If you can change where it stores backup data and try amybe it will work. Good Luck!

TiBu problem: Can't write to folder & insufficient storage

Today I started experiencing an issue where TiBu could not perform any backups because of "insufficient storage". Upon further research I found that this issue is related to the "no write permission" for the SD card. I've tried multiple fixes so far:
Adding the media read/write permission by manually editting platform.xml
Downloading SDfix patches from the playstore for 4.4.4
Flashing a zip that contained a modified platform.xml
Note, this issue started today after I restored to a nandroid backup after flashing the Google Play Edition ROM (4.4.4). I was originally on 4.4.2 and the GE rom was 4.4.4
I'm extremely frustrated because I can't seem to get TiBu to accept the fix. When I view my platform.xml through a root explorer it says the permission is there for writing to the external storage.

How much free storage is available on a fresh, brand new machine?

How much free storage is available on a fresh, brand new machine without any apps installed on it yet?
I only have Kodi and a few other apps but only have 6.7GB free.
Also, the "install apps to Micro SD" feature doesn't seem to work?
Most of my apps are still installed on the internal storage?
The 16GB model has about 11.1 GB free for apps and data. Also, installing to micro-SD only moves part of the app itself; it does not move the data, libraries, dex files, cache or any external data. If you're familiar with Xposed you can try using the XInternalSD module to move more of that stuff.

Thanks! Does XInternalSD install everything to the micro SD by default? I would actually want Kodi to be on the internal storage so the thumbnails can load up faster.
Hmm. I should have been more specific. XInternalSD doesn't actually move apps; it lets you move stuff from the internal storage to external storage by redirecting /sdcard to /storage/sdcard1. It's most effective for apps that use a lot of space under /sdcard/Android/data and /sdcard/Android/obb. You can set it to redirect everything or just certain apps. For apps that are already installed, you may have to move the external data yourself. Hope this helps.
11.1 gb
Lord I have the 500GB model and I can't seem to move any movies or music on it.

Removing Bloatware without sacrificing Android Pay

[Title should read SAMSUNG Pay not Android Pay. Not sure how to correct it]
Every other day I get a 'low storage' notification due to the tiny 16GB internal memory in my Galaxy A5 2016.
That alone is frustrating enough, whats more, there is at least 2 GB of preinstalled crap in my Phone that I cannot remove.
Ordinarily I would root my phone and get rid of these apps. But the only reason I bought this phone is for Samsung Pay. And I don't think SPay can work on rooted phones...
I have a 64GB SD card - which sadly isn't of much use because I can't install apps directly to SD Card. That means I always need enough space for whatever apps I'm downloading in my internal memory. Is there a way to directly install all apps to SD Card?
tl;dr: How do I make living with 16gb internal memory bearable? I'm willing to do anything as long as SPay keeps working.
It's useless to remove bloatware from system since your datas and system have different paritions. In fact, you won't get more space if you remove bloatware (but your device may boots up faster).
Here some tips to get more space :
1. Delete useless files in My files
2. Uninstall useless downloaded apps
3. Uninstall or disable (updated) system apps which you never use
4. Clear your apps cache in settings > storage > internal storage > cached data
Don't root your device if you prefer Samsung pay since it requires a non-tripped KNOX 0x0
Good luck !
Sent from my SM-A300FU using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Samsung and android pay rely on safetynet to work, and for safetynet to work, all you need is to be unrooted.
So you can actually root, remove bloatware and unroot.
But like the guy above said, freeing up system space will not give u extra room on your internal storage, it's a fixed size partition, so the only space u get is from the dalvik files that can be removed along with the bloated apps.
What you can also do is rename the rest of the dalvik files to *.odex and move them to the corresponding oat/arm folders inside system/app and priv-app for some more space.
As a last resort, you can find a fix somewhere on these forums that enables adoptable storage on our devices, which is prolly the best way to increase internal storage (but comes at he expense of being able to swap out the sd card)

Internal memory suddenly read-only

Hi,
I suddenly have a very strange problem. My internal memory changed for some reason to read-only. The built-in file browser can't modify files anymore, nor can any app. With Root explorer (root access) I can still modify files. I could just use Root explorer, but some apps actually crash because they can't access the internal memory, so that's no solution.
Here's the situation:
I have the SM-N9005, on Android Kitkat (4.4.2). I was rooted with CF Auto Root. I wanted to try Magisk (not realising that you needed at least Android 5.0 for it). I uninstalled Busybox, Xposed, and then did a full unroot via the SU app. Then I installed TWRP recovery, tried installing Magisk. Of course that didn't work. So then, with Odin, I reinstalled CF Auto Root. After that I reactivated Busybox and Xposed. TWRP seemed to have disappeared, so installed that again as well. Everything was back to the way it was, except for that internal memory issue.
Does anyone has any idea how to fix this?
I made nandroid backup, so I could just revert to that backup but I'd prefer to find a solution and know why it happened.
Thanks!
After installing and running twrp, did it ask to make changes to internal storage?

It did not. And I've just found out that everything on the SD card can't be opened via the built in file explorer. I can create new folders and such, I just cannot open any files.
I says: "Not able access to external SD card. Try again if SD card is successfully mounted"
It's been a while since I used twrp but I recall being asked if I want to allow modifications to the file system.
Maybe it's time to flash back to stock using Odin and then restore your backup?

Weird, I don't think it asked.
Yeah I guess is if no one comes up with a solution I won't have another choice.
