Anyone know when and how much it will cost, Is there any way to get one.
Good question, would love to get the answer on that too.
It will only be available there, because they only want to see if they can sell this phone

Lucky..
I think WSJ mentioned it wouldn't start until sometime in the 2nd half of 2015, and that's as narrow a range as I've seen on a date. Doubtless, there will be some units popping up on ebay and the like, and Eremenko specifically answered a dev's question during devcon 2 that there were no real controls that might prevent Puerto Rico modules from working anywhere else, other than the cell radios, so while they are trying to focus on one area for data gathering purposes, there will be leaks. I think one reason they really don't care is that a big part of the market test is drumming up earned media and awareness while the ramp up, because this model doesn't really lend itself to a multibillion dollar worldwide ad campaign that Samsung or Apple would use. There are too many different parties and too many small parties in the mix to effectively promote that way. But every stage of the tiered rollout, including these dev conventions, generates really valuable coverage. I was really impressed with the breadth of coverage off devcon 2, and it isn't even finished yet.
The ebay units won't help many of us though, because there isn't one Ara device. Unless you actually have friends or family there and you can tell them exactly which modules to buy, whatever bundle someone gets and puts on ebay won't be particularly interesting. If you want the full experience of really building a device just for you, you'll have to wait an unknown but painfully long time with the rest of us. Well except djzbra. Ah, why does Puerto Rico always get all the luck
I will be waiting also for the launch of project Ara here in Puerto Rico.

Don't worry countries like India, Indonesia, Brazil are the Biggest market for that type of phone's.
Around $200. Pretty sure some people will be selling online for 10x the price. But i say google shoule atleast try selling a few online.
This is got to be the most interesting thing to come out of the wireless smartphone world in a long long time.

10x?! Then there is someone that is going to make a lot of money on these. If that is the case. Even at ½ that.
Patiently awaiting north Americas chance to get in on this. We've been following Ara for so long it seems. I know I will be jumping on it as soon as we can.
This will be the future I think and if Google continues to build this up as well as they are it will shred any chance apple has at keeping their closed source limited option smartphone relevant... You can't build an iPhone like Ara. No way no how. Thoughts?

Here's some interesting reading:
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/44943?start=15&tstart=0
I particularly loved this post:
If you've been following any of the numerous blogs and news stories about the XOOM and its pricing around the internet, you'll noticed that there are a lot more 'neutral' buyers out there than there are pure fanboys. In that I'm saying that there are those people who will only buy Apple products and loathe anything Android, and on the other side there are Android fans who want to see Apple eat dust in the wake of Android's tablet dominance (which is looking less likely now.) But, in between these two groups is a much larger group of people who couldn't care less about the OS or the company and will buy according to two things.
1. The value (Price):
Let's face it. We're in an economic slump, and price will win out over features and OS. This means people are going to be more willing to buy a $499-$599 tablet with WiFi only over an $800 tablet that requres a $20 data plan and a $35 activation fee. The iPad proved this by itself before any other tablets were even dreamt of. The WiFi only iPad is by far the most popular version.
2. Reputation:
The neutral buyers in the market for a tablet know what an iPad is, what it does, and how much it costs. It's been out for a year, and it's been a huge success. They also know that the iPad 2 is on its way and that it will probably have the same price points. On the other hand, the XOOM is a new tablet by a manufacturer who has only proven itself in the smartphone market. Tablets are a new venture for them, and they haven't proven themselves like Apple has. The OS might be slick, but it's also unproven. iOS was successful because people had already been using it on their iPhones for a long time. Honeycomb is essentially Android, and it's slick, but it's still unproven.
That being said, everyone was excited about the XOOM at CES and those neutral buyers were drooling over it and ready to give it a chance over the iPad. Now, Motorola has struck out.
Strike 1: Price
$800 is a lot for a tablet, and most people (obviously) aren't willing to pay that much. I won't argue that it's not comparable to the iPad. It is...To the 32GB 3G version, which leads me to...
Strike 2: Veriety (I'm not talking colors like red...)
Releasing the most expensive version of the tablet first is a boneheaded move. Apple got it right with their teired pricing, but Motorola is trying to shove an $800 tablet down consumers throats when the majority of the market was expecting a more affordable option. It's fine to have a 3G version at $800, but it's not fine to piss on those that make up the largest portion of your potential buyers by not offering a WiFi only version for under $600. This gives way to...
Strike 3: Data Carriers
This is a big turn off for even those willing to pay $800. There's not many people who want to pay a data plan every month. It's nice to have that option, and I'm glad Verizon is doing it on a month to month basis instead of a 2 year contract, but to force people to pay $20 for a month of data plus a $35 activation fee on top of $800 plus tax is ridiculous. Going back to Strike 2, many people want a WiF only version because they are casual users who just want something to use around the house or over at Panera Bread on a lunch break, and there are others who just don't want to be tied to another carrier fee or don't want to give Verizon any of their business.

So I've been stalking the SGS S2 forums for the past week (got nothing else to do seeing how I'm recovering from a recent surgery) and was wonder from everyone's experience, who should I order from? (Would be an order to Canada btw)
Clove, Handtec, Expansys UK, US or Canada?
Would ordering from the UK be cheaper or stick with the North American companies since they now confirmed that the phones are Quad Band 3g.
Just need a little push in the right direction before I drop $800.

I was going to order from the Canadian Expansys site but noticed the price hiked up. Consider me subscribed here because I too am wondering who to order from. More specifically, wondering if there are import taxes/duty fees, and how long it took to receive (assuming some sites have sent them out yet).
As of right now Expansys.ca wants 826.70 with Express shipping to Ontario. If there are import fees on top of that I might wait a bit...
I don't know you and you don't know me and I cannot help you decide.... BUT....
Hope you are feeling better after surgery. I remember when I was under the blade. I felt down for ages

Check your country's customs website, probably states import taxes if there are any. Note that most big delivery companies(like UPS/DHL) tolls the goods themselves, so no risk of your package getting stuck in customs for weeks.

Well they want to regulate which country gets it.
The biggest reason with the Nexus 7 probably is the limitation of Play store functionality in most countries. It's limited to only apps in almost every country in the world except USA, Canada and UK.
They announced it pretty heavy about how it is the ULTIMATE Google Play device, so releasing it without full functionality might heart advertising and credibility of future devices. Even though many nerds here (including me) would want it anyway the majority would want all the functions people have in the US.

So please post it if you found a good way to get the tablet to central europe.

So were pre-orders for the Nexus 7 started at midnight?
I would think there to be a tremendous difference in demand between a lame ass 7" tab and a quad core 2gb mobile phone with the latest hardware priced insanely cheaper domestically than elsewhere. Insanely cheaper, period.

Why?
Only people who follow these tech sites know about the Nexus 4 here in the UK, no tv, radio, newspaper articles have been shown.
We also get stock from a totally different country to US orders.
For the mast majority, only people who go into an O2 store will know about it, and their stock differs from the playstore stock.

What does spam f5 mean and what kind of info should you have ready?
I have already bought stuff from the Google Play store so they have all my details. I figured I would just sign in well before midnight and when the Nexus 4 became available I would select it to buy.
Has anyone bought like a device on the first day available and would like to share what happened?

Assuming you're serious, spamming F5 means quickly and repeatedly pressing the F5 key on the keyboard, to constantly refresh the webpage in hopes of it letting you order the phone
I have never heard of that before even though I have been around computers since the 70's. Thanks for the clarification.
I thinking the UK is going to be the easier place to get a midnight order done. There have been no ads or whatever as someone in this thread has already said. Also, here in the UK the majority of people buy off contract phones so this one isn't going to be that different. But on the flipside in the US there is a massive LTE network that you wont be able to access and that will cut the amount down quite a bit. I'm guessing they will sell a lot but I don't see it selling out...... unless they start running ads after they open the site to orders.

I wouldn't bet or hold your breath on a midnight release, but who knows anything can happen.

HTC has seen unprecedented demand for and interest in the new HTC One, and the care taken to design and build it is evidenced in early reviews. The new HTC One will roll out in the UK, Germany and Taiwan next week and across Europe, North America and most of Asia-Pacific before the end of April. We appreciate our customers’ patience, and believe that once they have the phone in their hands they will agree that it has been worth the wait.

That's what happens when too much time goes by between announcement and launch; and not just to HTC. The goal should be to build up buzz and then get it in people's hands so word-of-mouth carries the momentum. At launch (or right prior to) is when the big ad spend should kick in to (re)gain and keep attention. Had the schedule stuck they would have been a month ahead of Samsung and not drowned out buy what I'm sure will be Samsung's expansive media spend.

HTC spent $40MM in advertising last year (a pittance). They're going to get lost against Samsung’s budget. The fact that VZW, the largest U.S. carrier, won't have the One (if they get it) until two months after everyone else won't help. The good news for HTC, at least in the U.S., is most people are using subsidized phones so they’re in the market for a new phone when their contract allows them to be. So it's a steady stream of potential customers and the launch euphoria for both the One and SGS4 won't really affect their purchase decision as much as word-of-mouth and how the two phones actually perform.
And HTC fans and Samsung haters are going to buy the One anyway. Just as Samsung fans and HTC haters are going to buy the SGS4; no matter when both are available. People open to both are most likely to be impacted by Samsung's advertising and larger media coverage and the 30 day head start would have helped HTC.
Pretty disappointing. I may be able to wait, but there is absolutely no chance the general population will choose the one over the sgs4 when they see them side by side. Especially after seeing 10000 commercials on tv for the next galaxy phone.
I feel sorry for htc, that was a horrible decision. They're just digging their own grave on this one.
