I rooted my phone with towelroot. I wanted to install cyanogen so I went to the site. I couldn't find my device driver so I tried the US Cellular. (btw I have cwm recovery 6.0.4.7). I went into recovery mode and press backup and restore. I saw an error message but i ignored it. So then I wiped data and factory reset. I tried to install Cyanogen through install zip. I installed it but when I went to reboot phone it rebooted back to recovery. It does that every time.

Someone? Please?
Your stock ROM is here. If you want to install a custom ROM afterward, you need to make sure the custom ROM will actually work on the Straight Talk Galaxy S4. Keep in mind that there are some thirty different variants of the Galaxy S4. The ROMs in this forum are geared towards the I9500 series international phones as well as the I9505G Google Edition phone. These ROMs may not be built with the Straight Talk S4 in mind, as it's a minor variant compared to the I9505.

Thanks! I started download like 5 minutes ago and it's 0.1/1.3 GB downloaded. Can you send me it through mediafire or something?. Also can you send me a link to a Cyanogen Mod for Straight Talk S4
Unfortunately, you're just going to have to deal with the download speeds. For me to post the MD5 file on MediaFire, I would need to download the ROM I provided you the link to, split that file into multiple downloads of 50MB each, and host it on MediaFire. Since I do not have a Straight Talk S4 but an I9505 with a Straight Talk SIM, I think you'll understand why I'm not going to waste the time and bandwidth.
Regarding the link for a Straight Talk S4-compatible version of CyanogenMod, check the CyanogenMod website and see if someone there has made one. If they haven't, you'll have to build one yourself because no one is going to do it for you. Again, I don't have the phone, but even if I did I have no desire to run CyanogenMod on it.

Alright thank you I downloaded the ROM, installing it right now with Odin. Taking forever with system.img.ext4 but it looks like it's almost done. I'm pretty sure I have no idea how to build my own CyanogenMod for my phone. Any ROMs you consider are good and compatible with my phone?
I don't run a custom ROM, but a stock, debloated one. I would simply root the phone, debloat it using the excellent guides and tools on XDA, then install a launcher from the Play Store*. From there, make sure S-Voice is disabled in the Touchwiz launcher so you can use Google keywords ("OK Google") and enjoy your phone.
*I use the Google Now Launcher because of its "swipe to the right" access to the Google Now cards, but there are other very good alternatives to the GNL. Nova Launcher and Apex come to mind.

None of those ROMs have a Sprint kernel built in them, so even if you were able to get them to boot, which you obviously didn't, you would most likely have non-working data (3G & 4G), WiFi, etc.
Stick with the ROMs that are in the dev sections of the Sprint GS4 variant and you'll be fine. There are others that have claimed to be able to get non-Sprint variant ROMs to work, but YMMV.
Good luck!
It happen to me as well. But i just make sure i force a delete Data and it got off it.
I was in rooted stock.
I flash an incomplete Team Sonic rom.
Dawn download...
I try to restore it wont boot, i flash the Cf root with odin that got me on a loop, i then did a force data delete and done.
Not the same in the way but might help.
So freak out, no rom no back up
Hahaha

If you're trying to flash i9505 onto i9500
That's the first problem, different chip sets wherein probably lies the issue. Flash what is built for Qualcomm on Qualcomm based phones, Same goes for Exynos, don't try to mix and match.
You should run SPRINT ROMs to.start off. Its possible to run Verizon ROMs with working 3G with some small edits.

Go to the sprint galaxy s4 forum, it's definitely your problem. Try any rom, they are all good, and once you are comfortable with the rom, try a custom kernel for your rom. And read the thread about the rom you're flashing, lot of times there's good tips and options you otherwise wouldn't know about...

wow you really are BRAND new to posting see you got one post, well Welcome to the community. Now to your dilemma all those roms you tried to flash are not mad for our phones so you were in the wrong forum when you downloaded those roms. Now you can use those roms as long as you flash a SPRINT kernel after flashing one of those roms. Now your not guaranteed to get data working it's been hit or miss for many. Try flashing one of the roms from our Dev section, you'll be happy

He can only flash I9505 roms I9500 roms could brick his phone because it is ment for the international exynos version. I9505 roms are fine if you flash a sprint kernel after flashing the rom because they have the same hardware other than the cellular radios are different. (Depending on the rom data or voice or both might not work) I would not recommend flashing and roms not intended for the SPH L720 because I havent been able to get data on any of thoose roms. Hope this helps.

I have a samsung galaxy trend s7392. Since it lags when playing high end games or using heavy apps, I'd like to overclock it. I have already rooted it. It has JB 4.1.2 as stock firmware with samsung touchwiz 4.0. Since it's not a popular model, the developers might not have developed anything yet for it. But since this phone's look, feel, features and stock firmware are a lot similar to more popular models like grand quattro i8552, i9082, etc some of you could know what roms and kernels would work good with it. Please help. I've googled my hands off. Thank you so much.

You might have better luck by going into the i8552 forum and ask a developer there if he knows if it is compatible. They would know the best.

Hi, I also own a Galaxy Trend S7392 and looking for a custom rom. But I couldn't find one. To start developing a new rom, I tried building from AOSP sources. The build was successful, but while flashing it on phone, ODIN reports FAIL as soon as it starts writing system.img. I am unable to figure that out why is it so.
I am looking for some concrete steps so as to compile a ROM for our phone and flash it from AOSP sources specifically. If you have any idea about that, please help.

After successfully building a rom you need to flash the rom from inside of recovery. I'm not sure of the specifics of your rom for flashing. You will need to go to your rom thread for that and read the guids on how to flash it correctly. You will also need a gapps package. goo.im has this. If you built for 4.3 aosp they have the gapps there. If you built for 4.4 you can try these gapps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942

My phone is currently using STOCK ROM for my Galaxy Trend. There is no thread dedicated for Galaxy Trend Duos S7392 so there is a little information available at the moment.
I am stuck on flashing the AOSP generated system.img to my phone. GAPPS will come a lot later .

OK, but I don't know how to generate the whole ZIP. Moreover,
ODIN requires .tar.md5 package to flash it. This is what I did :
1. Extract STOCK tar.md5 package
2. Replaced system.img with the one I compiled.
3. Repacked tar.md5 package.
4. Used ODIN to flash the tar.md5 package.
5. ODIN reported failed as soon as it started flashing system.img
Further help will be highly appreciated.

You will need to flash the rom from recovery.
First you will need to be rooted. If you don't have that you can find it here at this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494471
You will need to have a cwm recovery. Here is the link to that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552935
Inside of cwm recovery you will need to factory reset/erase data, erase cache and dalvik.
Then flash the rom and gapps packages.
i don't know if your device is locked or not since I do not own this device. This is the best that I could find. I don't know if it works. This advice is for the i8552. Your best bet is to look through these threads to find what you are looking for. http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-quattro

you can remove those bloatwares by just rooting and using root app delete to locate and delete. it will not only free rom but will also make your phone faster since the bloatwares that used to run in the background consuming cpu, battery and ram will have been removed.
Samsung galaxy trend s7392 folks use kingoapp from kingoapp.com to root your phone. it will surely root it. I've upgraded to galaxy i8552 quattro and the two phones are just a copycat of each other. so there are chances a custom rom intended for quattro(more popular of the two) could work on trend.

Hey first of all, after rooting you will gain super user access and ofcourse after that you will be able to remove any system app(bloatware).
pls help i also have the same device
I have gt7392 pls help me to put any custom rom available if u get any solution pls share with me.
Thanks in advance
I am also an unhappy user of s7392. It is indeed a laggy phone and to be honest, root (vroot)+ removing any unused application, including play store, hangout and google+ didn't help it too much. Phone is still hanging, lagging and sometimes not showing who is calling or, worst, not ringing at all.
An optimised ROM it will be really grate.

I own a originally Sprint S4, after rooting and playing around with it (I recall updating the modem and installing Triforce Custom ROM).. one day i realized it turned into a Canadian S4 when I tried to install another Custom ROM (Beanstalk 4.4.2), CWM said I was trying to install a jfltespr file and I needed a jlftecan one. I looked for the canadian version of the ROM and it installed without a problem and everything works. My phone now shows model as SGH-l337M and I can install anything made for the Canadian variant. Can someone explain to me how is this possible and how can I revert whatever I did? Thanks in advance.
P.S: I'm positive that I played around with more things, I just don't remember.

Glitch in the Matrix... should have taken the blue pill.
You flashed a ROM that was not for this Sprint S4 (SPH-L720) so of course the model will show as different. If you want a U.S. Sprint model ROM then flash one of them to get the right build number.
Not sure what you're asking. Or are you just stating?

Thanks for answering, my question was how do I go back to Sprint model and you just answered. But I can't help to wonder, can I use this method to freely change my S4 Model so I can install say, International S4 ROMS? (I9005)
You do NOT change the model your phone will forever be a SPH-L720. Its only a build prop change that happens that makes it seem like the model number has changed. I can do.the same thing with stock NAE ROM by changing one line in the build prop.

As daniel4653 said you don't change the model - it is what it is. Like slaping a Mercedes hood ornament on a yugo - it's still a yugo.

the answer is pretty much NO. Unless it's ported to the Sprint Galaxy S4 hardware. Unless you want to turn your device into a pretty paperweight that is.
I've got it, thank you for answering. So in order to go back to make my phone accept SPH-L720 ROMS via CWM I need to force-flash(say Odin) a Sprint ROM? Can't I just change that line in the build.prop?
You don't have to change the build prop for anything to flash. Just flash away via Odin or CWM.

The thing is CWM states that I should not be installing jfltespr ROM's whenever i try to because my phone is needs jfltecan ones, even though my phone was originally Sprint but now it displays as Canadian. That's why I wanted to make sure that flashing a Sprint ROM via Odin was safe.
Not really sure what you're doing, with what CWM or how. Sounds to me like you're using some other 'branded' recovery, or some other flashing app.
I suspect a whole lot more reading should be done.
But IF you have a Sprint Galaxy S4 model SPH-L720 (and not the T version) you can install Philz recovery - look in the dev section. Then flash whatever you want.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. I am new to this custom ROM stuff and am trying my best to follow all the guides, but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. Android version 4.4.2 and Build version KOT49H.I337UCUFNC1, so I've been following the NC1 guides. I was able to successfully root using towelroot and verified that it worked using a root checker app. I then installed SafeStrap, backed up my stock image, and put two different custom ROMs on my external microSD card, Graviton (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2372742) and PurifieD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454205). After creating another ROM slot, and performing a factory wipe using SafeStrap, I installed Graviton and it went through and told me to reboot. However, when the phone loaded again, it looked just like the stock ROM again. So I wiped everything again and did the same with PurifieD. It gave me all the installation options of what bloatware I wanna get rid of, etc and also seemed to install successfully. But once again, when I rebooted after installation, it looked just like stock again.
Am i doing something wrong? I really want to use these nice looking ROMs!!
And if I can get that to work, it seems like I have no 4G connection, even though WiFi works. I'm assuming http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50965837 is the guide I will want to be looking at to make it work?
Thanks for the help
I assume they are based on GNG8 AND GNG1 and you are running FNC1.
The rom based on stockrom is important too.
I suppose you downloaded Purified HD's v3.3? Because it is based on FNC1.
Try roms made specifically for your device to avoid problems and bricking. Experimenting without knowledge is also not supported here. Plus people are not responsible here for bricked devices or any weird thing that happens.
Towelroot worked for your phone as it is a universal app, made for S5 by the great @geohot, but works for many devices.
EDIT : Well I totally missed the i337 part. Thank you @Lennyz1988.

You need to read more carefully.
You have a I337 model. NOT an I9505 or an I9500. You can't flash other roms to your device. Stick to your model only the AT&T. Try what DeepankarS tells you. From what I remember your stock rom needs to be the same as the rom you are trying to flash.
Thanks for the assistance fellas. And yeah, knowing that I was looking in the wrong threads would have been a better start and I'm lucky I didn't permanently damage my phone. Thanks again for the heads up.

Anytime. But you can always port roms to your phone. There are a lot many ways to port a rom for your phone
*A bit of perfect copy paste skills required for that

Hello everyone, I tried searching the forum for a solution but have not found any. I'm in a little predicament and I need some help!
Summary: I recently rooted my Verizon S5 using Towelroot and have safestrap installed. I am trying to install CM11 Rom and so far it hasn't been working for me. Everyone I boot up the rom for the first time I get the Samsung S5 boot screen and it is just black. Vibrates twice, and then loops back to the samsung boot screen.
Phone: Verizon Samsung S5 (G900V)
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband: ANI2, Kernel 3.4.0
Rooted with Towelroot, with safestrap 3.75 installed for verizon.
So far this is the procedure I have tried to install CM11:
1. Boot into recovery via safestrap.
2. Activate my ROM SLOT that I have created for custom ROM's.
3. Do a wipe (Cache, Data, Dalvik) and I have also tried wiping System also prior to installing CM11.
4. Flashing CM11 (downloaded from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...t/rom-cyanogenmod-11-0-android-4-4-4-t2864288) via buildbot mirror. I downloaded the latest release named: cm-11-20141104-UNOFFICIAL-kltevzw
5. After, flashing GAPPS also downloaded from the thread above for CM11.
6. They both successfully flash and I reboot the phone. (And yes I have tried wiping after flashing these two and rebooting but it still doesn't work)
7. The phone reboots, I see the Samsung S5 boot screen, then the splash screen for Safestrap, and then the screen goes black. The phone vibrates twice and then loops back to the Samsung S5 boot screen.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you so much!
If your phone isn't a Dev Edition it will not work. CM Roms use AOSP and you can't run those or custom kernels on a retail edition phone.

Since you're using SafeStrap, I'm assuming you have a retail edition Verizon S5 (non-developer edition).
1. Retail cannot use CM ROMs. Ever.
2. Safestrap does not flash any partitions other than cache, data, and system. Meaning even if you had a DevEd with safestrap, it would never flash a kernel.

Thank you for the quick replies, and also for clarifying. So would it be possible to run a custom ROM on a retail edition phone? What possibilities are possible (in terms of customization, root options, etc) for a retail edition phone?
Do XPOSED Framework Modules on retail verizon versions?

Any of the ROMs located in the Verizon Galaxy S 5 Android Development subforum as long as it states compatible with retail edition.

That's up to you depending on what you're looking for. The most customizable, tough, is Alliance. Each ROM offers the devs own take on "custom rom". Just gotta find one you want to use.

Hey, I blame Samsung for Knox amd other bloat/crap, but in honesty they are a company that makes these phones for crowds that buy them for the crap they put on them. BIG RED the world fattest *****iest carrier (excuse the language) makes me extremely... Angry... For lack of other words... They are CDMA, bootlock their phones, slow updates down, and charge a ****ton for it! They are bad. Just bad. Fix that crap Verizon, just fix it. No more begging for you to stop torturing me, I swear another slip up and I quit! TMobile here I come, also Ludeawaking, I hope you get the rights from beans and good luck, and Elliwigily (sorry i forgot how to spell you name :| ) great debloat, still is a great daily driver! Happy Modding!
