Is it possible to change what camera app opens when you use the twist gesture motion?
Not without root
And with root, how can it be done?

By overidding the method(java method) that controls it with your own. Your own method will be to code in a new gesture.

I'm sure he does. Same answer though. Xposed framework is ideal for something like this.

Is it just me or does this phone fly on ART. My nexus 5 didn't seem so big of a difference. Its like night and day on my phone. Of course it took up 700mb of storage but I'm loving it!

Can we or is there a thread going to know what apps work with ART?

It is great in the beginning but it starts lagging after two to three days of usage
I think you did talk about Running ART in your moto x so far. But i want to know it how it's possible to fly ART on my Moto X..?

Actually, what he said was "My Moto X fly's on ART" which I can only take to mean he has a fly on his Moto X, which either is "on ART" or possesses "on ART."
Myself, Being that I am ART, can confirm that I am not a fly, but am on a Moto X
My name is art and I like to fly.

Lol!
BTW ART includes a dalvik compatibility feature, or so I presume. As mine always boots with, a persistent, "android is upgrading" for a few apps. The count goes down as I uninstall some apps.

So that . It's make "fly's on ART" :fingers-crossed:
Buuuuut....no xposed. The Moto x on stock and xposed go together like peanut butter and jam.
OMG this thread is cracking me up!! I'm tempted to make my moto x even faster but I have to agree that I cant give up Xposed!

Got and benchmark numbers or application launch times to show how much faster it is?

I'm curious. How is the stock camera confusing? I found it to be one of the simplest interfaces ever.

I agree the moto x camera app is the best interface I've used. Google camera is too hard to switch modes and has needless letterboxing.

Guess i should have been specific. It's the "carousel" settings thing i just find off-putting, that's all. I just prefer the Google camera version.

Very good idea....it really should say "CAMERA quality improved". Simply edit your first post, and click "GO ADVANCED". Then you can rename the thread.
Are you able to assign the "shake to start" gesture to opening a new camera app?
You can if your phone is rooted and Xposed is installed. There is a module called twisty switch that allows you to launch other apps with the wrist twist, instead of the stock camera app.

Probably should mention that the app A: Uses only 6MP of the 12 the X is capable of. And B: Duplicates the official Gallery app.

You should be able to get moto display by flashing the zip linked to this post on a stock based custom ROM.
You could try the zip on an AOSP rom, but I'm not sure it would work. If you decide to try it make a backup first just in case it causes problems. You might be stuck with ambient display on AOSP roms.

If the ROM has CM Actions, gestures, you will have all the stock ROM actions. Like wave (turns ambient display into something like moto dispaly), lift to wake, chop chop for torch, and twist for camera.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
Yeah, I've just found that the Moto stuff is more accurate because it actually uses those three extra motion sensors.

What do you mean with this?
For example, i have a Moto G4 Play and i want to install "LineageOS 14.1". Do you think i'll still having the moto display?

You don't actually get Moto display on AOSP ROMs since they are not Moto stock based. However some AOSP ROMs have features baked in like ambient display that perform similar to Moto display. It will all depend on the ROM.

Could it work if I flash this zip file on a Lineageos 18 ROM? And how do you flash additional files on an already existing ROM?
Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions about tweaking the soft buttons, more specifically I want to assign the buttons on the right to avoid the little stretching I have to do and also to not compromise my stable hold of the phone.
Thanks.

I haven't specifically used it but I think that the Xposed module called "Gravity Box" might have that trick up it's sleeve. It comes in both Lollipop & Marshmallow flavors, there should be a dedicated thread under the Xposed modules here on XDA that you could browse through and ask questions about that possibility.

You are absolutely correct! I should've suggested that too as I'm using GravityBox myself (I'm not hiding the nav bar though).
In fact, since I wrote my original reply above I've had to remove LMT due to some incompatibility and am using GravityBox's similar PIE controls instead.
Does it work? Does it work good?

Just look up "ambient" and there should be two.
