how i fixed private mode. - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 General

So i kept trying to fix private mode to use. I tried Xsecurestorage module in xposed but wouldn't work with me. I also tried TEKHD's method of the zip but didn't work either. Followers the support link for Xsecurestorage mod and found a method being used on a 910f.
Went to data/system/secure_storage and deleted the folder with personalpage in the name.
Next went to data/system/users and deleted privatemode_edk_1000.
Rebooted my phone and viola it was working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-xshealth-bypass-secure-storage-t2878708/page12 link for reference.
Running stock rom with AEL kernel.
nymikey also suggests that you should clear cache and data the force stop private mode as well.

Haha!!! It worked!!!! Thank you so much for this.

Yea, the /secure_storage is not on the 910t, looked everywhere

Are you on a custom rom? This might only apply to stock roms. I have a 910T and found secure_storage in system.

Oh yes, def not on stock. On Dynamic Kat 4. So unless I'm stock, no private mode. Crap

I think its more the privatemode_edk_1000 file from what i read deleting that can reset the private mode if it was working before. Again, this might be a stock thing only.

I deleted it, but didn't work. Also creating the directory wouldn't do anything. I cannot recreate the missing files.

I'm not sure about custom roms, but it didn't work on my stock rooted rom either until i went into application manager and cleared cache, data and forced stopped private mode. Not sure if it'll work for you guys but it did for me.

Does this method delete the private contents?

Yes, i just noticed that, but i only had a couple of photos and were deleted. So you might want to remove what you have first. I'm not guaranting it's going to work for you but it did for me.

I would bet on it deleting everything since you have to recreate the instance for it to work right.

It Works!

I'm running 910C rooted stock rom and at first I tried erasing the files and I actually found them and delete them then I rebooted my phone and it was not working... but then I saw the last part where it says you should clear the cache and data so I did the last try and y deleted the data and then force the private mode to stop and then rebooted my phone and now I have my private mode working 100% so if you try this metod plz remember to clear the data and force 2 stop the process and maybe it will work for you!!! Good luck
And thanks guys I really appreciate that you found a way to make this work!!!!!
?????

Worked just fine for me on stock rooted. Thanks for this!

Hi! I'm using a Note 910F (not rooted). After downgrading from Lolliflop to KitKat again, I'm not able to activate the private mode anymore. Could this thread be the solution for my problem? If so, could anybody tell me step by step what to do? Thanks for your help!

[Q] reflash encrypted 4.4

Hi guys,
This is my issue: I rooted my S4 with CF-Root with Odin, installed PhilZ Touch 5 recovery, installed and installed Janjan's 4.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=490110. So far so good, everything worked. Then I made a mistake and enabled encryption. Phone still worked but after some modifications I wanted to rewipe and reload the OS image and this is where everything broke.
It seems I can wipe all partitions (no errormessages) but after loading the zip from the external SD card (no error messages) it still seems to have encryption enabled. The phone boots and asks for entering the PIN after a while like its still encrypted. Then after a while it reboots.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Had the same prob a few months back, check my post on this:
I believe using encryption on cyanogenmod is a bad idea, better to just have it removed for i9505 I think.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451822
I assume you haven't installed samsung 4.3? Have never tested this out on that version. Can't be much worse than a phone that wont boot. Good luck,

Your welcome, just remember if all else fails, flash back to stock, :good:

[Q]WhatsApp not sending/receiving media

Hello everyone. I've tried really hard to DO NOT create this thread. As it happens I have used all I know (which isnt much) to try to fix this problem but got no success.
So I've got a S4 GT-I9505. I've recently decided to root it mainly because I wanted full External SD-card access to some apps. Here are some facts about my rooting:
- I used TWRP;
- I used SuperSU;
- I kept the stock ROM. I personally dont have anything to complain about it so I didnt install any custom ROMs.
- I had a problem with Knox afterwards, the phone was rebooting and freezing. I made a backup on Titanium and then uninstalled every Knox-related app.
- The system worked nicely for days.
Then I decided to clean some garbage that I knew was present in my device, like ghost folders and foster files and such.
- I installed SD-Maid and Clean Master.
- On the same day, I switched my SIM card because of some personal issues. I'm brazilian but now living in Deutschland. The change of SIM cards (if it matters) was as follows: bought the phone > inserted brazilian SIM > inserted deutsch SIM > inserted brazilian SIM (due to a personal problem) > back to deutsch SIM. I'm telling you this because I'm not sure of how relevant it is. Just trying to give as much info as possible.
- I cleaned some **** with SD-Maid AND Clean Master.
What happened next:
- WhatsApp was broken. I couldnt receive any media (voice recordings, videos, images, nothing at all).
- I tried re-installing the App
- I tried to restore my WhatsApp backup from Titanium. No success*.
- I tried to restore my backup from TWRD. No success.
- I tried to change WhatsApp folder (on data/media) permissions to r-r-r---- and then back to 00775. No success.
- I tried re-registering my phone to whatsapp network. No success.
- I tried deleting whatsapp folder on data/media (WhatsApp FAQ recomendation). Thats when WhatsApp stopped also SENDING media. I couldnt simply send or receive through the app.
- I tried re-creating the WhatsApp media folder on data. No success.
- I tried a factory reset followed by a TWRD backup restoration. WhatsApp was once again SENDING, but NOT RECEIVING media. When my phone finished booting and the launcher loaded, I was immediately prompted by a WhatsApp message saying something like "Conection failed! Please verify your phone number. WhatsApp can only be installed in one device per phone-number" even though everything else internet-related was working just fine.
(* when I say NO SUCCESS, I refer to the fact that WhatsApp still not receiving/sending media, not that I failed to implement that given fix)
Now, when I wiped my phone to factory defaults, I noticed that in TWRD prompt it said something like "Wiping Data, EXCEPT data/media". My knowledge of the subject isnt great but I think it might be something with this folder.
Any thoughts?
Thank you very much in advance!
Do nothing. Delete your account from whatsapp and recreate it with the number you wish to use
My whatsapp works fine with a different no. And has a diff sim for calling.
Maybe to much of backup.. restore...bla bla..made it crash.

It was not very clear in my post, indeed, but yes I have tried that as well. Thanks for trying!
I would just take the shortcut.
- Backup the apps you want to backup with Titanium.
- Make a backup of Whatsapp from within the app.
- Wipe from TWRP recovery (I assume that's what you mean by TWRD). Use the option prepare for rom flash (don't know the excact words, but you understand when you see the option).
- Reflash the rom you are currently on with Odin (or flash a custom rom).
You can also just skip the wiping part and just flash the rom with Odin again. I always like to start from scratch if something goes wrong, but it should probably work without the wipe.
Then restore the apps you want to restore. Whatsapp should probably be working now.
You can spend many more hours finding a solution, but my guess is that SD-maid or Clean Master deleted something it should not have. Always be carefull with those kind of apps. I don't really like those apps because the benefit you get from them is limited.
GOT A FIX!
After 2 days of hitting my head on the wall with this, I came up with a solution.
My girlfriend has the exact same phone as me (though I think any rooted android with WhatsApp installed would do).
I entered her data/media/whatsapp folder and created all the folders that were missing on my own folder (deleted by CleanMaster just for being empty). Then I gave all the folders the exact same permissions (rwxrwx--x or 0775) as my girlfriend's device and voila! It's working perfectly!
Now just for future reference and to feed my curiosity: why does factory reset through TWRP do not also wipe data/media? If this folder were wiped, I would get a fresh WhatsApp install and the problem would have been gone sooner. I kinda dont understand the folders' structure in my phone. Sometimes it looks like I can get to the same very place using diferent paths (like /data/ OR /emulated/ OR /0/ OR /sdcard/).
Anyway, thanks people! Though I figured it all by myself, this forum still rocks!

Good that you found a solution.
It would be bad thing if the custom recovery would standard wipe data/media because that would wipe your entire internal sd. People that flash roms don't want that to happen. You can still wipe it from the recovery, it's just in a different place then the standard wiping.

So basically its just a matter of keeping your apps and app data? Not something system-damaging or system-related at all?
And thanks for your answer!

No your apps and data will be wiped. Basically every part that could interfere with a new rom is wiped. It's only the data on your internal storage that is kept. So apps (like Whatsapp) also write data to your internal storage and that won't get wiped.
/system
/data (excluded /data/media)
/cache
and a few more will be wiped.
(There are more parts that don't get wiped, but that are parts that neither an app or you will ever touch.)
Now the problem is back. I can't really understand what happened.
I rebooted my phone just to check if everything was OK and then to do a new backup in TWRP.
Checked WhatsApp and the problem was back. Then I went to see the files and some folders that I've just copied were gone! The WhatsApp main folder on data/media was still there, but some subfolders were simply missing. I also noticed that my copy of that folder on my External SD-card was also gone! Like WTH?!
Any help will be much appreciated.
P.S.: and to my happiness, copying the files once again (as I've done before) simply doesnt work. This is driving me crazy, seriously.
this happened to me once, and wasn't whatsapp only, the reason whatsapp wasn't being able to receive/send media files was because it somehow could not access the internal storage.. same with all my other apps, it happened when restoring a full rom backup with CWM.. and the only way i managed to fix it was to re-flash the stock rom with odin

Not even a factory reset will do?
How do I find a stock ROM from Samsung (with 4.4.2) compatible with my S4 GT-I9505? Also: should I also wipe everything or simply flash the rom without doing anything else?
Now that you said, I also noticed that one of my favorite games (Mushroom Wars) has also stopped working. Might be that you're right!

Do as I suggested. Start from a blank sheet and stay away from those rom cleaners for now.
You could just take a clean custom rom, then you don't have to worry about deleting those knox stuff and rerooting again.

you don't need to re-configure or recover a backup, if you flash the same stock on odin as you already had running, without wiping, it should work right away, without any issues and without any need for a wipe or a restore, you will have to re-root though, yes.

I just realized both solutions are the same, LOL.
ODIN just finished flashing the stock rom. Will update soon with the preliminary results.
Apparently it did NOT work. Not completely at least.
WhatsApp is now once again making voice recordings and receiving them as well, but is not handling any other kind of media. Mushroom Wars (the game I talked about earlier) is also not loading.
The system looks just it was before, only without root (I know that was expected).
Don't know what to do now.
Just one more question: how much of a problem is it restoring a backup using TWRP? I mean, in a scenario in which I get this problem fixed, I couldnt simply restore any backup due to the possibility of screwing my internal storage thing all over again?

No Samsung Account option available at setup

I do have safestrap but last time I used it screwed up my last S5 thats why I had to buy a new one. It's a long story but it got stuck in download mode when i went into recovery. There has to be a way I can get S-Health to work correctly without Odin!? And I have multiple G900 tar files from users saved on my computer. This one you sent is new to me.
It's one of the original ones. I use it all the time on my spare phone (I've been experimenting a lot mainly with flashfire). It does a full wipe. Like a brand new phone afterwards. A moot point since you don't have Odin. Safestrap has saved me a lot of heartache, never caused me any. I would be happy to pull whatever files you need but what those would be, I don't know. I have RicksRom on my sdcard so I have access to all its system files.

I'm still trouble shooting the issue with s health. Currently in process of uninstall health service then s-health, reboot then install service first. See if it helps. I do appreciate all your help in this matter and hope you can get me the orignal files needed for this. Is the samsung account still an issue? I installed that apk you sent and login to my account with no problems. All that can be sync is calendar it says. I'm a bit worried using safestrap to be honest after my ordeal with my last phone. I cant take chances ruining this phone by mistakes, especially since i'm going out of state for nearly just over a week starting this weekend.

Ok so after a struggle and a couple reboots I got it work 100%! DONE!

Help Please i think i broke something.

Hi
I recently tried to install a theme from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/theme-systemui-themes-n910u-5-0-1-t3097608
for my note 4 910F.
I did all the steps (Copyd the apk, changed permissions to 644 than overwrote the original system ui apk, i made a backup of it, also have titanium backup)
after the install my phone now comes up with the msg Unfortunately systemui has stopped, every like 5 seconds.
i tried titaniums restore, wiping the cache from twrp and than a factory reset from twrp, but to no avail i fear i have broken my device any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Bear in mind that i rooted the phone yesterday so im new to this.
Thank you
Download the stock ROM from sammobile website and flash it using ODIN tool.
For flashing instruction, check YouTube or google.

Thank you very much it worked perfectly.. even upgraded to 5.1.1
I have a few questions tho as im new to this: I messed around with it more before flashing the stock ROM and heres what i did. Managed to push the original systemUI.apk on the modified one, that resulted in my top statusbar dissapearing, but there were no more popups of systemui crashing. However i notice that the systemUI.apk is now not installed at all... atleast the phone does not recognizes it as already on the device So next i manually installed the systemUI apk, the original one. It went trough with the install but then the phone completely broke and any animation froze it. After that i did what u suggested.
So my questions are: What did i wrong when installing the custom theme ?
Why didn't pushing the original back/installing the original work ?
Why didn't i loose any of my apps photos contact details after installing the new Firmware ? (still have everything... not complaining its just weird how a new op system install didn't wipe my data)
Thank you so much again for Your great suggestion.

I have uploaded stock Samsung keyboard (Marshmallow) here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634741640 . Let me know if you can install it as normal.
If you cant and you are not rooted, let me know.

Go to system/app/app/SamsungIMEv3_SYSTEMUID_XT9/ and remove the .apk. Then put the apk you have downloaded in that folder and set correct permissions ( take a look at other apk permission for example). Then go to recovery, wipe cache & dalvik cache and then reboot.
Let me know if you still have problems.

Yeah it could be.
I have made a flashable zip containing the whole folder.
Here it is: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120703393 .
Go to TWRP, mount /system and then flash this zip. Then wipe cache & dalvik-cache and reboot.
I made the flashable zip quick, hopefully you wont have issues lol.

Please, can U answer me: I do not have phone with me right now, cuz it is friends phone, i did installed above Stock Nougat 7.1.1 Rom which name is Odyssey Nougat Rom on J5 2016 FN. Now, my friend like that Rom but he doesn't like Samsung Keyboard port from N8... He need keyboard like it was on Stock Rom or one which looks like Xperia Phonepad keyboard. I tried everything, installed Xperia apk keyboard, but nothing works. Keyboard shows on System/Language and Keyboard settings but can not be activated.... That is shorter story Any help would be really appreciated. Thank U very much. Just in case, ill post this post on some other treads or/and on separate thread as well.
I finally downloaded the .apk for my Samsung J5 2016 (later a whole folder, because I realised that it was removed; TWPR closes ) but I can't install it Paidverts.apk that I've installed the same way (not from Play store) works...
What (else) can I do? Thanks for your help.
