I've had my note 4 for around 48 hours now and I'm shocked and appalled with the performance. It lags so much in almost anything you do from Web browsing to scrolling feeds in apps. I've never been this dissatisfied with the performance of an android device since the HTC Hero.
Why are more people not complaining about this? Are any of the custom roms out there fixing this? My device is N901F.
You must have a defective phone. Mine does not lag at all.
Sigh*

All Samsung devices are very laggy when in stock condition. That's Touchwiz for you.
I've owned the s3, s4, s5 and the note 4, and i can say without a doubt that this is the least laggy samsung phone I've ever used. and in all honestly, it tops the charts with the LG g2 as the least laggy phone I've ever had, period. idk what you're doing, but my phone flies 247.

Maybe because you're obviously a die hard Samsung fan is why you think this phone "flies 247". I can assure you compared to other current flagships it's a pig.
My only decision right now is to try some other roms or just sell it. Will never buy another Samsung again though. SwiftKey is even struggling to keep up while I type this.....

Have you tried a factory reset? The retail Note 4 is not rooted yet so you won't be able to flash a different ROM.
I have only one suggestion, Nova Launcher and use all the " Faster than Light" stettings
I've had my N4 for 4 days now, came from a BB device. I am very impressed with the speed and how fluid everything has been working. I've installed new mail, calendar apps, been web surfing and playing with Themer and haven't experienced any lag at all. Start with reset and go from there.
There's a little lag, but not as much as older Samsung phones, much less than the G3. Maybe yours is defective. I agree with other people, being a jackass and calling people fan boys won't help you.
As for Swifykey, it's been nothing but a laggy bundle of hell for a long time for me no matter what phone I use. The Samsung keyboard owns it.
lets face it I have vzw n4 and it sometimes does lag.
Cache clear/wipe helps.

LMFAO. furthest from a die hard samsung fan, buddy. rather than just speak out your ass, do research first. if you go through my post history you'll find I've criticized the s4 on so many occasions of it being a slow, laggy, over heating pos. I had it for like 3 months before I put it aside and used my HTC dna as my main phone again.
I had the s5 for 7 hours, hated it, and returned it.
then I had an LG g2 for over a full year, which is the longest I've had an android phone.
if i were ever a fan boy, it would have been an htc fanboy back when I had the dinc, rezound and dna. I had an s3, which was a great phone at the time, and then once ics hit it, it became unusable and laggy.
look through my post history and find tons of posts complaining about samsung lag and how I hated touchwiz.
the note 4 is finally a good product from Samsung, and that's coming from someone who couldn't stand their lag since like 2012.

Clearly a defective device, unless you're trolling around. My device only lags when using the messaging app to text or the pattern to unlock. Even then, it doesn't lag anywhere close to as much as any other phone (stock) I've ever owned (including HTC devices and iPhone's). Bring it back and tell them that your device is defective, and demand an exchange. That's what I did for my first 2 Black Note 4's that had issues.

I came from the HTC One M8. That phone was lightning fast, and very smooth. When I first got the N4, I felt the same as you and today still wonder wtf Samsung is doing with their code that makes their devices run so poorly compared to other top tier android phones. While I still notice lag and stutter on occasion, the device generally seems to have improved over my 4 weeks of using it. I use Nova launcher, Google keyboard, disabled unlock effect, disabled a bunch of apps and options I don't need or use and it generally feels faster and more smooth. I should mention that I don't think I've simply gotten use to the lag. I played with my M8 a bit before I sold it a week ago and the performance difference didn't seem as drastic. The only place I still notice poor or slow performance is in the messaging app, however since I turned off priority contacts, it seems to be more responsive.

Cool story Bro.
Problem with most people is they buy a device and they blindly defend it. I am completely non bias. I can afford to be. I'll just buy another device. If you're on the fence about buying a note 4 and reading this.... Don't. Not until further updates are released anyway.
I'll make a video to prove you muppets wrong. This **** lags. Fact. And no. This device is not faulty. Always very easy to pull the faulty card when someone challenges your precious device you've waited 2 years to upgrade to. Pathetic paupers.

No doubt the note lags. I've had evey high end phone this year and the note is one of the slowest. Faster than the S5. That's about it. None the less is probably my favorite phone this year. It has everything in one package. Awesome battery life, phenomenal screen and camera, excellent looks and build quality. After using the G3 , M8, and the turbo I do miss the speed, but all the other stuff makes it up for me.
Anyone who thinks the note doesn't lag is either delusional or hasn't used a non-Samsung device.
I have an m8 also. It's lightning compared to this **** and it's almost a year older? And with far less raw power. It's not acceptable. Well done for speaking up against the fan boys.
Please keep the conversation cordial. The name calling as minor as you all think it may be is disrespectful and not tolerated on XDA.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and whether you agree or disagree there's no reason to attack anyone's character.
Please take this as a friendly warning.

There have been several cases where users report lag and returned their phone as a defective device. Those users reported the 2nd phone as being lag free.
After the first update i experience no lag except for an occational messaging lag.
Maybe the reason you dont hear 98% of the people complain is because they dont have a problem. You're not the only one willing to open their mouth about such issue. These people are trying help you but you're insisting that your phone is some how the golden device that speaks for the rest. Things happen during manufacturing process, defective devices happen. We're a community come be respectful, contribute, enjoy your phone. The community doesnt work for anyone, so attacking it isn't going to do you any ounce of good. I hope you find the fix to YOUR problem. If that means switching phones so be it. For the rest of us we are happy with our phones and are experiencing minimal lag.
Why don't you try disabling some apps, Switching launchers and keyboards?

So, I've had my Note for two weeks now, and I have read lots and lots of threads and topics regarding the Note here on xda... Many of them made me think really hard about buying the note at all.
What I cant understand, is that people are complaining about lots of stuff, like stuttering in 3d-games, overheating, s-pen not working, battery drain and so on.
I can honestly say I have absolutely NO problems with my Note. Is it because i came from a htc Hd2 with hyperdroid ROM (with stutter, heat and drain problems) or just because I'm lucky?
I am a heavy user, and like to test all my technical equipment to the fullest. I have done so with the Note for the last two weeks (especially on my 8-hour train trip) and I must say that I am nothing but happy with this AMAZING device.
I am on stock ROM, rooted, and the only "help" for a faster device I have installed is Chainfire 3D. I have never experienced stuttering in gaming, never overheated (max 45 degrees celcius, checked batt temp in androsens after a while of heavy gaming+charging).
So I raise my question: Is it possible that many of the users in here has gotten a note from a bad batch? It sure sounds like it when a person starts a thread about a issue I've never experienced and several users reply with "yeah its a general problem with the note" and "I'm gonna switch my note for an iPhone".
What do you guys think?
I've had my note for a out a month. It's an open UK version, latest gingerbread, unrooted. Have had no problems of any kind.

I guess most people that are complaining in the forums are Crackflashers that always want the most current rom, but they never recognize that the most builds need Drivers.
As seen in ICS Rom Threads. Complains about a non working FM Radio or Videocamera.
If you use your Note With stock rom everything should be fine.
Sorry my english is not the best but i hope you get the point.
IMO Note is many people's first Android smartphone and they think that they have some problems with the device, whereas everything works as it should.
I also had Hd2 and I kinda used to mess with the Android.
So I can say that I dont have any problems with my Note running on stock rom.
The large number of issues reported here does look at odds with reality when you visit other user groups such as AVForums where there is almost no faults or complaints about the Note. The 7.7 forum at AVForums is the same with helpful non-critical posts being the norm. I would recommend anyone thinking of buying a Note or a 7.7 to visit AVForums to see how happy people are there and to take the huge number of issues reported here with a pinch of salt.
No phone is perfect.
When you sell millions of devices, you're going to see hundreds of complaints. It's the Internet.
I generally ignore complaints unless I see multiple people complaining about the same thing.
I've been considering the Note along with the upcoming HTC One X for my contract upgrade but the Note was winning due to the battery size among other things. However, I had noticed a lot of complaints here about 3D game performance but that didn't bother me as I don't really care for games on my phone. Then I saw mention of stuttering in normal use and it made me think the Note was suffering from lack of power graphically despite the positives. I'm glad to see this posted as it more or less tells me those reports aren't the majority.

What you say is true. However, why have all the faulty devices been sold to xda people and almost none to AVForums people? Something doesn't add up.
I'm very heavy active smartphone user too. With Note from november 2011. I flash few times only for deodex and root to 2.3.6 and one time for 4.0.3 (now I'm back to 2.3.6). I don't have stuttering in 3d-games, overheating, s-pen not working. I only one time have battery drain, but i quickly fix that just flashing new kernel.
So I raise my question: Is it possible that many of the users in here has gotten a note from a bad batch?

No. The problem is that for many people it was their first smartphone.
aside from gaming, which I don't do at all, I would call myself a "heavy-poweruser", I got the Note as soon as it came out in Europe (bought it from Germany), I am on stock LC1 + CF-Root (updated today, I was on LB2) and I am EXTREMELY satisfied with the Note.
put simply: I can't see myself using any other phone..

That was what I thought at first, I just didnt want to offend anyone.
But lets be honest. Posts complaining about the device like that is kind of a turn-off when it comes to whether or not to buy the note. I think its important to let people know that the note is a better device than what these complainers make it out to be. Not because I want Samsung to earn more money, but because it really is the best device I've ever laid hands on.
If someone reading this seriously consider buying the note, I say GO FOR IT.

You are absolutely right about the excessive complaining here. If you check the AVForum you will see there are hardly any complaints which proves the problem is with the complainers here and not the device.
I don't know about you guys, as hard to accept there are really some problems with our Note.. one of those prevalent problems are the colour banding and screen blockiness issue.... some even had already gotten a refund over this primary issue....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430847&highlight=galaxy+note+screen
It's either some are just the unlucky few or either we just tend to shrugged off the issue (even its already infront of us)
for me it was the color render problem (I'm in the acceptance phase and try not to care about it anymore)
the point is, when someone gets a high end phone and pays that amount of money (price differs from country to another, here in costs about $860 to get it) people except maybe a flawless device or something that will do anything they throw at it
plus being a developers forum, many users expects to find solution or a fix for their problem whatever that problem was, i guess that's why you'll find so many complaining.

Selling perfect phones is bad business decision for these companies. With 2 years contract and subsidies, the manufacturers only need to create overpriced phone that last for a short time.
With that said, beside for being a little too big and not officially pentaband, the Note is the best phone I've used. I have no idea where the accusation of stuttering 3D graphic from unless someone have too many bloatwares and background processes on their device. The device have a Mali-400MP4 gpu, it can handle modern combat at 720p. People needs to understand its outputting 3D graphic in HD, but thats the limitation of Android, it can't change to lower resolution.
For me it does not render some shade of gray correctly, but it seem to be a software issue, 720p AMOLED screen is still amazing compared to offerings from competitors, nothing come close when sunlight is involved. I think the Galaxy S III will be a good successor, they will use RGB matrix and hopefully have better quality control for the screens. It does seem to be a problem for Samsung lately, specifically International version versus American version that tends to have more issues.

Since when HTC started mimicking Apple and using metal in their phones I crossed them off my list (MOBILE devices are meant to be LIGHT) so I don't know the quality of their current phones but I see Samsungs as of very good quality. My last 3 smartphones have been the Galaxy S, Galaxy SII and now Galaxy Note (plus the Galaxy Tab 10.1) ZERO hardware problem with each and every one of them.
And I have dropped the 3 smartphones several times... (and I never use cases)
Occasionally.
I get the occasional overheating but it only happens once in a while or when I'm playing Fruit Ninja / FN Puss n' Boots or watching movies on MX video player. Stuttering happens sometimes but I don't really mind it, to be honest. The Galaxy Note really is a magnificent phone.
I've been hearing on some reviews that there are some moments that the Touchwiz UI will have an occasional stutter or lag. Do you guys think that downloading a different launcher, like Apix, will help solve that? Or will I have to go to the dark side of the phone and root it?
Also to some of you S3 owners out there, did installing CM10 or any other custom roms help remove any signs of lag or stuttering from the phone?

I'm afraid to get the s4 because of that. Everyone swore to God that the note 2 was the most fluid device they ever touched with no frame rate drops. I recommend it to two friends, come back two weeks later to find both of their phones a lag fest. There might've been some user error there, they both had 2 or 3 weird apps installed, and I attempted to diagnose the problem but alas the lag remained, with and without apex. It was kinda embarrassing
for me when they both went in to trade their note 2's for an iPhone 5, because of the horrendous lag they suffered.
I say all that because I potentially see that happening here again, especially with touchwiz now BEYOND bloated with features. Not to mention the phone probably isn't optimized for snapdragon the way it is for exynos...
Don't get me wrong I love sammy phones, I think they're incredible as I'm still rocking the s2. I just have a hard time recommending them to people because of the horrible experiences a regular user faces without rooting and throwing an aosp rom on. And it's not like I can freely suggest nexus phones as the nexus 4 is exclusive to gsm (most my friends are on Verizon/Sprint) and most don't like the idea of paying off contract.
Anywho I rambled a bit. Long story short, I'm the biggest Samsung advocate in the world but even I'm skeptical of getting the s4 because of performance drops such as the ones mentioned

Did you ever try to install a custom rom for any of those devices? The only smart phone I've owned was a Samsung Infuse (The little brother of the S2) and the lag on that phone was terrible, despite the amount of roms I've put on it.
I have seen lag in the widget drawer, first time when you try to swipe to a different page in the widget drawer. Seems like 4.2 update have broken a few things in terms of smoothness.

I still have the Droid Charge, the Infuse's ugly brother on Verizon. They both use galaxy S hardware in the age of the S II, and Samsung didn't really give a crap about them software wise. I remember when the Charge got the gingerbread update there was a line that read something like this in the source:
/*This is a temporary piece of crappy code that I was forced to write as I did not figure
out how to properly use the driver in the system. Please resist the temptation of ever using
this code in a good Samsung phone. I will remove this code as soon as I figure out the correct
way of using the driver*/
The old hardware and the bad development are likely the problems. We did just get an OTA update a couple of weeks ago that fixed a lot of lag, though. Maybe it was that guy's driver, who knows.

It's an existing feature in Samsung phones called S-lag.
So how's the dialer? Does it still open for 3 secs?

I read somewhere that the lag is not the devices themselves but more on Android's native coding (how it was built ground up). Android works like a computer and differences are the way it utilizes the CPU/GPU. For example, when you are browsing and click on something on iOS, it stops everything and performs new instructions right away. In Android, it still process last set of instructions.
So Android reduces the lag by brute force by (dual, quad core, more memory, GPU etc) whereas iOS, because of different coding they don't need to. Many apps on Android are really customized versions of Java. And didn't Steve Jobs eliminate Java because it is too slow/power consuming for Mobile?
Even Nexus devices lag. When you turn on the phone and start scrolling and browsing right away really fast there is some lag.
There is an interesting just released article on that matter , in french, but numbers speak for themselves :

Limited set of devices for now but more to come and undoubtly GS4.
So far,
no surprise, Iphone 5 beat them all : 75ms
GS3 : quite good : 105ms
HTC one : a bit disappointing : 145

I just have a hard time recommending them to people because of the horrible experiences a regular user faces without rooting and throwing an aosp rom on. And it's not like I can freely suggest nexus phones as the nexus 4 is exclusive to gsm (most my friends are on Verizon/Sprint) and most don't like the idea of paying off contract.
Anywho I rambled a bit. Long story short, I'm the biggest Samsung advocate in the world but even I'm skeptical of getting the s4 because of performance drops such as the ones mentioned

Note II with Nova on here, and zero lags (except if you unlock from deep sleep and immediately without waiting, like within 1 second or something, pull down the notification bar, there's a lag, but that's me being nitpicky here). I guess it's a snapdragon thing rather, I'm on N7100 international Note II. Can vouch for that anyways.
I feel like this will be fixed with updates.
A lot of them said it was in awkward apps.. the kind of apps you wouldn't expect to get lag.
On engadgets review, they say that the air view and air gestures seen to make the phone a lot more sluggish. So hopefully disabling one of those features will help speed it up.
Note 2 user chiming in. Not even mad about lag. There is no such thing as lag free. Show me proof if there is.
Also got an GS4 arriving tomorrow. Removing bloatware as soon as I gain root.

When I was trying out the note 2 at the att store I noticed that some of the transitions would stutter from time to time (getting inand out of the app drawer, notification pulll down stutter) When I was trying out the HTC One, the only lag slight lag I got was on the widget select screen. Everything was literally smooth and fluid, it was awesome! The only reason why I was sold to the S4 instead of the One was because of the power button and volume buttons being so flush in the casing. I would have to slide my finger across the top just to pinpoint the power button which was very annoying and so I was thinking of avoiding the One. And I honestly like the design of the S4 more. But even the slightest lag on the S4 will deter me away from it, if it is constantly happening that is.
i'm not sure why some of u have lag or stutter on N2
i only have stutter on the notification drawer if i have a looot of notifications
Have you noticed some lags on the stock browser app? It seems there are some issues with pinch-in/out.

Can I ask you what is the version of the fw?
i9505 or 9500?
Thanks man
Advice from current S4 Owners Required!
One month before launch of S4 i sold my One X to buy S4 when it comes in market. When it finally came out, it had known issues of
>Screan Smearing/Pink tint
>Over Heating & Battery Drain
>Lags, Lags and Lags as compared to iPhone specially.
So i skipped S4 at launched and for the first i decided to try iPhone in my life, after 10 or so Android Phones!
NOW I WANT TO ASK FROM CURRENT S4 USERS, IF THIS PHONE IS STABLE ENOUGH AND FREE FROM ABOVE ISSUES FOR ME TO BUY IT NOW, OR SHOULD I WAIT S4 WITH GOOGLE AS I HATE TOUCHWIZ AND STOCK MAY BE LITE WEIGHT OR EVEN WAIT FOR NEXUS 5?
I like smoothness of iPhone, almost all softwares like, Viber, Skype, Facebook or more smooth and beautiful on iPhone than any android i ever used, they usually stutter on Android, my problem with iPhone at times is small screen, at times i feel smaller screen is blessing to carry phone around easily in pockets.
Sharing limitations of iPhone was taken care with Dropbox as i can share songs and videos with any phone via dropbox, at times i think of absolute sharing like in any Android Phone?
I have budget now a days to sale my brand new iPhone and add money and try S4 now? but on net too much confusion, thats why i ask users to give me there say.
Thanks in advance in case if you give me piece of your precious time here and give me your thoughts.
Kind Regards!
I have s4 its good in every aspect except the heating problem
If u play any game which requires a good level of ram than it gets heated up like an oven
U cant even put it on your ear after playing games
Rest all is good

Feels like downgrade
I had a Galaxy Note II before S4 I9500, and to be frank, it feels like a downgrade. No amount of tweaking seems to improve the lag, overheats like crazy and battery life, especially when compared to GN II, is much worse. Screen is good, but really, cannot tell the difference with naked eye. The only benefit for me was the size, as GN II's size was starting to get at me.

I don't know if its just me or I'm really a nitpicker. I have an officemate who has a note 2 and I can see the jagged edges of the icons on his screen. I must say the s4 is well worth it for a flagship device. I looked around today with a friend that is looking for his next phone.. we compared my phone to other phones and he's really amazed at my s4. He will get his own s4 next week.
I have the i9505 version.
Personally i didn't notice any overheating. Its same as s3 after 1h playing, just the s3 gets warm on bottom and s4 on top. I have nothing like some said here that phone got so hot that couldn't be touched
I noticed the smearing. Doesn't bother me at all and today was released new update , which is fixing the smearing problem.
LAGS? My s4 stock with all samsung's bloats on, is pretty damn smooth, i just noticed sometimes when closing multiple apps a bit of stutter in animations but nothing major here.
If you are not interested in Note 3 which anyway you will have to wait for, go for the s4. This is my opinion.
I remember when s3 came out with ICS on, was so so laggy and buggy and everything..after updates > jellybean was perfectly smooth.
So i'm sure s4 will get just better and better with every update.
If size isn't an issue, then wait for note 3, it will be a supreme device I feel so.

Well, it means this heating issue is having by majority of people, which means it is genuine issue and its not just playing games, i guess its by doing anything extensive, like chatting hard or surfing etc? So i should try to relax and may be wait how stock S4 pans out? as strangely i am doing with iPhone too, only smaller screen has advantage and disadvantage, at times i feel, both phones do OK, so better stick to iPhone and think about other things in life

My dear, size is not that much of an issue, being a man here, but S4 had to be supreme of them all device as well if you remember, but cartoonish touchwiz is an issue, specially now as touchwiz often connected to lags. Plus with Note my concern is, Gosh we came out of Stylus Era, putting stylus again in phone, causing it to gain weight and size, you can't take notes on screen better then on actual paper i feel.
Yet i hope Sammy may not let you down again here with your expectation with Note 3, as you are saying, next time they will do a better Job!
My own little hope is Stock Android, but again Nexus 4 may be still have over heating less battery issues!

So basically you are saying, Buy it and wait/hopes for updates to fix the problems, like stay on chances, little heating is not that of an issue, but something beyond that is not a pleasant feeling, but as people saying, its uncomfortable at times.
You are breaking news here i guess, that today smearing issue will be rest in peace, though i heard they are solving pink tint issue.
Moral of the story, which is sad, that, some users are having problems more than others, so i am not sure i will fall in which category, as usual!

Its not about hopes, because it will happen and updates will iron out all the issues, they always did it properly for their flagships. It was confirmed that smearing is gone on the newest update, so i guess the rest of the problems will be ironed out soon enough. Its true some has more problems than others, but this happens on all phones, not only samsung ones.
Will see what else is fixed in the new update. Looks like some camera improvements are done also.

I don't paint any rosy picture here, i was very upset last year with the s3 and all the SDS problems and all the rest, but samsung ,,fixed'' it with an update and things got better. It was confirmed by other users that flashed the new ROM that the smearing is gone. I'm not sure about the pink tint as this sound more a hardware problem on AMOLED screens, but if they will fix this somehow...even better. I have very very little pink tint at the bottom on the screen ( barely noticeable ) and this doesn't bother me. About the overheating, i guess i'm one of those which doesn;t have this issue, so for me at the moment everything is ok and i'm happy with my phone, even if this wasn't a planned upgrade, was because one of my s3's was stolen and i got the insurance out of it.

I don't where are you from and what s4 they sell in your country. 9500 or 9505?
I'm talking here about the 9505.
You can keep an eye on this thread >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252855&page=17
Soon users that will flash the new ROM will keep it updated if anything else is fixed, so you can decide.

If you want stock android then you can go for stock google version of S4. It won't be directly available in Pakistan I feel so you will have to got for used one.
Regarding stylus, we it i useful as well as gimmek. Its up to you how you want to use it.
Phone Arena's head to head comparison show that the iPhone and G3 launch apps faster. I can't believe Samsung puts in the best phone processor, but had no care for the end user of a fluid experience, and appears to have put in zero work in making touch wiz faster. Any thoughts?
If that's the case, then I'm sticking to my m8. I couldn't stand that on the note 3.

I was running some tests on a HP Gen8 server sometime back, it was taking time and sort of freezing a few times.
It had 512GB of RAM, quite a few Xeon processors and tons of other stuffs. It was still "lagging" in many tests.
Do you think I should take this server out and put Moto X, as apparently it doesn't lag.
Samsung phones do a lot more than any other phone. There are many options that you can use in Samsung phone that you won't ever find it a simple phone. And hence there is a tradeoff. It's the law of nature. The very idea of getting a Samsung phone is that you are not getting a normal bare-bone stock device. It's has bells and whistles. It your objective is to have a phone with bare minimum features, get some other phone.
If you get a Samsung phone you might see delay of 0.5 sec for some basic thing, not that I ever care about them. Not it's for your to decide whether you are interested in that half-second of time or do you think those added functionality is more important to you. Just a simple trick like slide to call/SMS is such amazing in a Samsung device.
i cant stand my G3. note 3 didnt lag as much as this pos
Meh, it's a demo model, we don't know which processor it had in it, and it's running a pre-production unit of the new touch wiz. That, and half those tests were bunk, email on the G3 had 2 emails, the note 4 had about 100, same with Gallery. I'll wait for a real comparison before I even look at these speed tests.

I agree with that. My G3 definitely has more lag than the Note 3 I had before it.
Some people say the G3 has less lag when you use the ART runtime, but I have a few apps that are not ART compatible so can't test that.
I doubt the Note 4 will be worse than the G3 in terms of lag. I'll test out when the Note is in stores. If it IS slower then I just won't buy it. Simple.

me too cant wait for note 4!!
I wish I could have waited for a note4 but my upgrade was burning a hole in my pocket and I picked up the GS5 in April. I love this phone but I want the big screen. I would gladly trade my Sprint GS5 and a Sprint GS3 for this bad boy.
Samsung finally learned to lighten up TouchWiz a bit.
My S5 is completely lag-less. At least as good as the Nexus 4 or S4 mini with CM11, i had before.
Note 4 has a higher resolution but also more power.
(Only 'lag' may be the Home button, because its waiting for a second press (S Voice) - but you can disable that.)

I have a note 2 on Verizon. I think that as an expensive premium device, even for all these "extra features" like you guys say, there is NO EXCUSE for lag! It has the absolute latest phone processor in it, and they even developed their own. What's the point if everything lags and is slow anyway?
My HTC One Max is just as fast as the M8 and MUCH faster than note 3 with metal all around not just on sides and BoomSound speakers are as good as the ones on M8 not single tiny speaker on the back like Note 4.

I am sure you go to every thread in this community and you will find at least 1thread discussing about slow sluggish and lags.
Our human tendency is we want note never satisfied with what we've already got
Emotion Revolution coming soon on Note 4 (Aosp,Miui,Touchwiz, &Nadia kernel) I am ready to note!! Are you ???
Well I rooted my Note 3 and installed some apps like Seeder, Lag Fix and an app which auto restarts my phone once a day, closing all background apps. It has pretty much eliminated all the lag except the Gallery. For that I installed Nexus Gallery from the store. Still I may think twice before upgrading to another Samsung device.
It is being reported by users, that the TMo OTA update that is being pushed out today solves the recent apps button lag. Nice to see Samsung react to an issue and push out an update.
Now I just get to wait for AT&T to release the update and all will be good.
I've always been a huge fan of Android. I remember getting my first HTC Desire many years ago - the things you could do was unbelievable at that time.
Many years have passed and the technology has advanced greatly since then, however one thing that keeps bugging me is how Android still are performing - especially with third party developers like Samsung.
I've been using a iPhone 6s for some time and decided it was time to return to Android. I spent a lot of time researching which phone to chose, and to my surprise, everyone was prasing the s7 edge like it was the next big thing since the wheel.
So... I get one of them and the first thing I notice is how completely laggy the entire phone is. How can a phone with so crazy hardware have such a laggy interface - and how come no one has spoken about this in any reviews? Is it just normal Android behavior - or do you get blind to this when using it for years? I don't get it - and I really regret buying this phone because of this.
Scrolling stutters, typing to fast in chrome while it is loading makes the keyboard freeze for a moment and I don't enjoy the experience. I turned in my nexus 5 and even though it was way more fluent than the s7 in the interface, it has the same underlying stutter/lagg problems but on a way lesser scale.
Usually I'm really pro android - but anyone saying this **** is fluid and fast are lying to themselves or in denial. Try using an iPhone for once - I know it's like comparing Apple and oranges - but it's without a doubt a way better experience, the touch feels like it's moving at the same speed as the finger and best of all. I think we need some kind of nanotechnology to get even close to that experience on Android
Why are you flashing custom roms on xda if it wasn't for the hope of getting a super-fast rom with great battery and no lagg? And am I overreacting? Why aren't everyday Android users bugged by this?
Hmm actually the S7 edge is the first Android phone where I really won't bother to flash anything just to make it faster. I have absolutely no problems with fluidness...
Are you using the SD or Exynos one?

With 2k resolution and many bloatware of U.S network. You can see slow because android no long animation and no wait loaded and touch like ios, fhd resolution of ios. With android 7 and FHD, s7 edge will very smooth.
You got a duff one by the sounds of it. You answer your own question really, nobody in reviews etc. is talking about your issues because, they are your issues.
Have the Exnyos model here on the EE network and I don't get any of the issues regarding speed and fluidity etc.

Yep. My thinking too. A lemon. iPhones have lemons too.

Meh I feel with the power the S7 Edge has you would expect much higher fluidity in this day and age of phone technology. My old iPhone 4s was smooth as butter. In comparison Samsung has always felt like butter but with crumbs in it. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my S7 Edge but it could be better...

As a s7 edge owner, I have no idea what are you talking about.
my s7 edge is 4 months old and working great
never rooted/ flashed another version
never downloaded cleanmaster apk, taskmanager ect.. never used it
my phone has been working great 4 months so far. Interface is smooth....
everything is smooth
you right- no need to root and mess up with your phone in order to make it work
Take your phone back to the store . try a factory reset under settings maybe it will help.
plus remember android 7 / 7.1.1 will be coming this month. As i checked on youtube and changeloge, there are tons of new features.
the update may solve the problem as well but i would not wait for that
good luck!
Clean master îs a wonderful app.
S7 Edge Smart Manager is powered by clean master so no need to blame this app.
tried many diffrent roms for the samsung s7 (flat) currently on Nougat 7 beta
All Roms i've tried are smooth and i never experienced lag or stutter on any of them.
I think you have bad software or broken phone.
Try a factory reset, or return to the Samsung store and explain the issue.
Post and run, not sure if this is a wind-up
Funny thing is I had the iPhone 7+ before coming back to Sammy, and I find this phone more stable than the iPhone. iOS10 was a big disappointment and I had a lot of hiccups on the iPhone 7+.
Can't wait to see what the S8 looks like too!
I have an ipad air 2 it's slowly to if you install to many apps. My problem with Samsung I can't delete debloat all the crapp what come with the phone without root. And most things are useless in my eyes. I switched from i9300 slimrom and than cm roms . The firmware should be small and fast. My slomrom was 200mbyte now I have to download 1.5gbyte . I don't want know comes in 10years properly 10gigabyte firmwares.
I have had my S7 since release day and i am a heavy user of my phone with way too many apps installed (120+) and yet i have no lag at all. I can type as fast as i want, scrolling your long post had no stutter or lag, and thats with a ton of background apps and a pop up video running! All i will say is my phone is a little warm. I am no fan of Apple so i cant compare but my nephew has switched from being an Apple user his whole life to the S7 and he is happy. There are missing features yes but performance wise he says he cant tell any difference so i take him on his word about that. I would consider if a) you have a dud or b) you have a fake. Either way, get it checked out because like the others say, you cant be right and everyone else be wrong!
sessingo is not wrong.... I've used since two month an Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL and, despite the device is loaded full of bloatware, the user experience is far better than with my S7 Edge. So, for me, the user experience on Android can be very good (my Asus for example) with no stutter, no lags, very snappy, even if the hardware is mid-range. It's like night and day between the two devices !!!
Sure the feeling on an Iphone is great, compared to the S7 and Edge. And I'm a big fan of Android and Samsung since the Galaxy S2...

Loll did the iphone guys send you or are you just dumb? you never thought about maybe you have a defective phone before posting all this? obviously no one is experiencing these "lags" you're talking about. that's why nobody complains about it.

I've very recently changed from my old iPhone 6 Plus to the S7 Edge and I know exactly what you mean. The 6 Plus was my first iPhone having had many Android devices prior to that. Although the S7 Edge is lightning quick, and opening and closing apps etc is super-fast, it has a 'twitch' to it, particularly when scrolling. Also, exactly as you describe, when moving your thumb slowly up and down you feel out-of-sync with the screen. I noticed it immediately, and then even got out my old iPhone to compare just in case I was imagining it. I wasn't. They behave very differently. Its amazing what you get used to. It doesn't feel as polished an experience I'm afraid.
There's lots of comments asking 'how can your phone be laggy? Mine's super-fast' - well I think there's a misunderstanding about what we're describing. For me, it's not that the phone isn't fast, it is. Very. It's about how it feels to interact with. It just feels 'twitchy' and not totally in sync with my gestures. I do get the odd weird freeze on many apps. I wouldn't call it lag but just a short millisecond pause that you're not expecting that throws what you're doing out of kilter. It's nothing to do with power. Just the architecture I think. We probably wouldn't notice these things if we hadn't switched from one platform to the other. I'm don't really want to get into the 'which is best' nonsense. I do slightly regret changing but the Apple handsets were boring, physically - design wise - and the S7 Edge is a beautiful looking phone. I'd underetimated how much I'd miss certain things though.
