So, I've had my Note for two weeks now, and I have read lots and lots of threads and topics regarding the Note here on xda... Many of them made me think really hard about buying the note at all.
What I cant understand, is that people are complaining about lots of stuff, like stuttering in 3d-games, overheating, s-pen not working, battery drain and so on.
I can honestly say I have absolutely NO problems with my Note. Is it because i came from a htc Hd2 with hyperdroid ROM (with stutter, heat and drain problems) or just because I'm lucky?
I am a heavy user, and like to test all my technical equipment to the fullest. I have done so with the Note for the last two weeks (especially on my 8-hour train trip) and I must say that I am nothing but happy with this AMAZING device.
I am on stock ROM, rooted, and the only "help" for a faster device I have installed is Chainfire 3D. I have never experienced stuttering in gaming, never overheated (max 45 degrees celcius, checked batt temp in androsens after a while of heavy gaming+charging).
So I raise my question: Is it possible that many of the users in here has gotten a note from a bad batch? It sure sounds like it when a person starts a thread about a issue I've never experienced and several users reply with "yeah its a general problem with the note" and "I'm gonna switch my note for an iPhone".
What do you guys think?
I've had my note for a out a month. It's an open UK version, latest gingerbread, unrooted. Have had no problems of any kind.

I guess most people that are complaining in the forums are Crackflashers that always want the most current rom, but they never recognize that the most builds need Drivers.
As seen in ICS Rom Threads. Complains about a non working FM Radio or Videocamera.
If you use your Note With stock rom everything should be fine.
Sorry my english is not the best but i hope you get the point.
IMO Note is many people's first Android smartphone and they think that they have some problems with the device, whereas everything works as it should.
I also had Hd2 and I kinda used to mess with the Android.
So I can say that I dont have any problems with my Note running on stock rom.
The large number of issues reported here does look at odds with reality when you visit other user groups such as AVForums where there is almost no faults or complaints about the Note. The 7.7 forum at AVForums is the same with helpful non-critical posts being the norm. I would recommend anyone thinking of buying a Note or a 7.7 to visit AVForums to see how happy people are there and to take the huge number of issues reported here with a pinch of salt.
No phone is perfect.
When you sell millions of devices, you're going to see hundreds of complaints. It's the Internet.
I generally ignore complaints unless I see multiple people complaining about the same thing.
I've been considering the Note along with the upcoming HTC One X for my contract upgrade but the Note was winning due to the battery size among other things. However, I had noticed a lot of complaints here about 3D game performance but that didn't bother me as I don't really care for games on my phone. Then I saw mention of stuttering in normal use and it made me think the Note was suffering from lack of power graphically despite the positives. I'm glad to see this posted as it more or less tells me those reports aren't the majority.

What you say is true. However, why have all the faulty devices been sold to xda people and almost none to AVForums people? Something doesn't add up.
I'm very heavy active smartphone user too. With Note from november 2011. I flash few times only for deodex and root to 2.3.6 and one time for 4.0.3 (now I'm back to 2.3.6). I don't have stuttering in 3d-games, overheating, s-pen not working. I only one time have battery drain, but i quickly fix that just flashing new kernel.
So I raise my question: Is it possible that many of the users in here has gotten a note from a bad batch?

No. The problem is that for many people it was their first smartphone.
aside from gaming, which I don't do at all, I would call myself a "heavy-poweruser", I got the Note as soon as it came out in Europe (bought it from Germany), I am on stock LC1 + CF-Root (updated today, I was on LB2) and I am EXTREMELY satisfied with the Note.
put simply: I can't see myself using any other phone..

That was what I thought at first, I just didnt want to offend anyone.
But lets be honest. Posts complaining about the device like that is kind of a turn-off when it comes to whether or not to buy the note. I think its important to let people know that the note is a better device than what these complainers make it out to be. Not because I want Samsung to earn more money, but because it really is the best device I've ever laid hands on.
If someone reading this seriously consider buying the note, I say GO FOR IT.

You are absolutely right about the excessive complaining here. If you check the AVForum you will see there are hardly any complaints which proves the problem is with the complainers here and not the device.
I don't know about you guys, as hard to accept there are really some problems with our Note.. one of those prevalent problems are the colour banding and screen blockiness issue.... some even had already gotten a refund over this primary issue....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430847&highlight=galaxy+note+screen
It's either some are just the unlucky few or either we just tend to shrugged off the issue (even its already infront of us)
for me it was the color render problem (I'm in the acceptance phase and try not to care about it anymore)
the point is, when someone gets a high end phone and pays that amount of money (price differs from country to another, here in costs about $860 to get it) people except maybe a flawless device or something that will do anything they throw at it
plus being a developers forum, many users expects to find solution or a fix for their problem whatever that problem was, i guess that's why you'll find so many complaining.

Selling perfect phones is bad business decision for these companies. With 2 years contract and subsidies, the manufacturers only need to create overpriced phone that last for a short time.
With that said, beside for being a little too big and not officially pentaband, the Note is the best phone I've used. I have no idea where the accusation of stuttering 3D graphic from unless someone have too many bloatwares and background processes on their device. The device have a Mali-400MP4 gpu, it can handle modern combat at 720p. People needs to understand its outputting 3D graphic in HD, but thats the limitation of Android, it can't change to lower resolution.
For me it does not render some shade of gray correctly, but it seem to be a software issue, 720p AMOLED screen is still amazing compared to offerings from competitors, nothing come close when sunlight is involved. I think the Galaxy S III will be a good successor, they will use RGB matrix and hopefully have better quality control for the screens. It does seem to be a problem for Samsung lately, specifically International version versus American version that tends to have more issues.

Since when HTC started mimicking Apple and using metal in their phones I crossed them off my list (MOBILE devices are meant to be LIGHT) so I don't know the quality of their current phones but I see Samsungs as of very good quality. My last 3 smartphones have been the Galaxy S, Galaxy SII and now Galaxy Note (plus the Galaxy Tab 10.1) ZERO hardware problem with each and every one of them.
And I have dropped the 3 smartphones several times... (and I never use cases)
Occasionally.
I get the occasional overheating but it only happens once in a while or when I'm playing Fruit Ninja / FN Puss n' Boots or watching movies on MX video player. Stuttering happens sometimes but I don't really mind it, to be honest. The Galaxy Note really is a magnificent phone.

enough time passed to see comparisons with some roms, kernels and the stock android itself.
(this is all compared to the nexus one by the way)
i cant help but find myself trying to find reasons to enjoy this phone, more than my previous pure google phone.
between the irony of this having everything first and yet not having the updated market....the whole idea that stuff is not yet 'ready' or 'recoded' for gingerbread and that whole GPU isn't optimized for better browsing....to the complete lack of browser modes (about:debug to get desktop! are u kidding me)
ive thoughouly tested all roms, and its early, obviously but all have glitches. CM can never re-up its 3g or any connection at times after being in a nozone area. modaco has a few random ones and dropped it all together. crackflashers mods are a disaster when you go deeper in the late 30's to 40's. trinity kernels gets crazy too, and dont you dare mix that with all the other aformentioned. oh and the stock has constant random reboots...as does all these roms and kernels.
thank the lord for rommanager and titanium back up. i never appreciated it as much after having such a wierd phone.
hate me all you want, go as far to say that im *****ing. all im saying is that im heavily testing the phone. and comparing it to a year old phone..nexus one is starting to really look better even with a worse screen.
all in due time i guess. heres hoping that patches ALL around come..im talking google patches. samsung patches and then dev patches.
So far the only significant complaint I have after two weeks that is actually about the Nexus S and not some app I have on it is the ringtone problem. Admittedly annoying, but hardly a snafu.
The browser lag/lack of optimization and home screen issues are pretty big problems, if you ask me. It's quite obvious this phone was a little rushed. Hopefully Google fixes this all sooner rather than later.

+1. Love the phone coming from the Nexus One.
I have had my Nexus S since the 19th of Dec. I have never had a random reboot, random ringtone issue or any significant issue. I don't really notice the browser lag.
I have given up on finding the perfect phone for me. They all have their issues. In the past year, I have owned the Iphone 3g, Nexus One(My favorite of all), HTC G2, HTC HD7, and the Samsung Vibrant. They all have quirks. I have given up hope that I will ever have a phone that does everything I would like. For now, the Nexus S is a good phone for me.
I am not that excited about the upcoming dual-core phones, i don't think battery tech is ready yet.
The browser lag is annoying, but I only really get it bad on pages with Flash elements. That indicates to me it has at least something to do with Adobe's plugin.

Even though most of us set the Adobe plugins to on-demand? I've noticed the lag on all pages that have a lot of graphics. Heck, with pages that don't have a lot of graphics, there's a little stutter when double-tapping to zoom in/out.
I'm not in denial at all.
I hate my Nexus One in many ways, much more so than any gripes I have with the Galaxy S or Nexus S (I own and use all three actively, still).
My N1 had plenty of big issues, none of which were ever fixed via software:
1) the capacitive buttons' touch zone are offset by at least 50% to painted location
2) the touchscreen frequently goes wonky and was never particularly accurate in registering touches (very difficult to type)
3) the screen is so oversaturated in red hues that watching video podcasts is like watching people with bad sunburns
4) the camera has a big pink blur in the middle of every picture
5) the thing was unusable in sunlight.
The N1 had some nice features, like the trackball, and a nice look and feel in the hand, but it is far from the Holy Grail of phones people not satisfied with their N1 try to make it out to be.
My SGS and NS have quirks, but they're software. The SGS was not usable after a couple of days due to lag, but some custom roms fixed that. The touchscreen is dead-on accurate and has more multi-touch points than the N1. The SAMOLED doesn't have a red or pinkish cast to it, and it looks great, even outdoors. The hardware feels a bit light and creaky after 6 months, but I have disassembled it several times to try hardware mods, and I may be responsible for the creak around the bezel.
The Nexus S is solidly built, feels better in the hand than either the NS or SGS, looks much sexier than both, has a great screen in both touch accuracy and appearance. It's not perfect, but it's a damn good phone. The software bugs will be worked out in relatively short time, either by google or through a custom rom.
I don't hate you for posting this, but what's the point? You're not happy with the phone and you still love the N1. Take the NS back and end your misery...
If you trying to get rid of it, do it soon, this phone's resale value won't hold up like the N1 did. Just sold 2 NS brand new in box and the price fetched is well a fair price but nowhere close the retail price.

I have had a SNS for 48 hours now, coming from an xperia x10i, so here is my thoughts for what they are worth. The nexus seems to me a solid handset, no frills and business like. The browser is a bit choppy, but aside from that I have found no issues. The xperia showed me the joys of root and roms...I took it as far as it could be thanks to its locked bootloader (MASSIVE respect to the XDA dev teams and people). The xperia went from a rather poor device through to a fast and impressive device (by XDA magic.) and I got the Nexus because from what I have read, it will be brilliantly customisable. I rooted and got recovery right out of the box, and wait in anticipation to lots of great ROM's.
I could of gone for a Desire HD which is a more flash and complete device....but it was Nexus all the way for me. Lets wait a few months and see how SNS is before jumping over to dual core 'next best things'
I wouldn't go so far as to say people are in denial. I believe people when they say they love their Nexus S. I really like it too, but I do think people are fooling themselves regarding the value of the Nexus line in general. We're imagining a large disparity between stock Android and manufactured OEMs that simply isn't true, or more specifically, simply not as true as we want it to be. Stock Android has not liberated us from the issues which we shun OEM skins for, and in fact, have created a slew of new glitches (some of which are arguably worse: rebooting phone calls, for example). The things we complain most about of OEM skins still exist to some degree in stock Android. Likewise, Bloatware is blown way out of proportion. Yes, they are unwanted, but do they really do so much harm? The answer no one wants to admit to is no.
Considering developers will more likely than not port over any and every new Android iteration to future phones, sometimes with improvements, and considering there are only 2 major updates from Google in a year's time anyway, I'm beginning to reevaluate the value of the Nexus line.
Of course, everyone will have different preferences. My past experiences with Android have always had OEM skins, and I was possibly making excuses to keep liking something from Google. Now that I'm using stock and there are no more excuses, I'm not sure if I can safely say Android is for me, even though I really want it to be.
I think the op should move on sell the phone and invest in a handset that really suit his needs. All I seen in his posts on other threads have been negative towards the handset.
You done all the testing that has been done. So why continue to lament..
Do yourself a favour sell it whilst you can recoup the cost. Get something you really want..
I like my NS. I know the phone has problems. My personal experience has been a positive one. Yes the handset has flaws but I can get round them. It suits what I want it to use it for.
That's it.

The value of the Nexus line is easy to root with no effort from the manufacturer to stop you, and supposedly first in line for OS updates.
Nexus One owners might argue that they we'ren't first in line for 2.3 - but they got 2.2 months before anyone else, and they might be next in line for 2.3.
The "pure" Google experience is a myth in my opinion, at least the "I got the phone for the pure Google experience" comments are. An awful lot of people already flashing or chomping at the bit to flash custom roms.
All that other stuff you posted is just your expectations, not everyone else's.

Good points, but to say the rest of what I wrote are expectations exclusive to me is clearly wrong. It's been ceaselessly reverberated at this forum that the Nexus line is all about a clean Google experience, free of OEM skins which hamper the phone, and free of career bloatware. Some have gone as far to call not having a logo on the front of the phone alone worth it.
Again, not trying to take away people's happiness with the NS; everyone will have different preferences, but what I wrote is not exclusive to me.
There are loads of gripes about the Galaxy note and wish lists which are well discussed here. However, there does not seem to be any major issues which could be considered as deal breakers requiring immediate remedial action from Samsung as happened with the IPhone. Considering the complexity and pioneering aspects of the Note both in terms of hardware and software then that achievement is no mean feat. Even when there are gripes, seldom is a better phone suggested as an alternative. When you read the large amount of threads casting doubt on the Note you would be forgiven for believing it must be the worst phone ever made. But nothing could be further from the truth. Of course everyone likes to be re-assured about the quality and performance of a phone before spending a large amount of money and the volume of gripes here may put some people off. But I don't think so, for in spite of the gripes most people think it is the best phone ever made. When you look at Apple Forums you don't see as many gripes, is that because the IPhone is better or are Android users more critical? It seems to me that Apple users are proud of their phone and are therefore less likely to criticize it.
Deal breaker??? the only deal breaker will be the size (its not everyone sweet spot)... for me, its perfect.. the best of all worlds (tablet+phone+note), just like the S2 it is ultra slim, light, Power horse phone and gaming device... Gorilla glass, and that beautiful Super amoled HD screen... and finally later next year we will get ICS for sure
if you ask me what I wish to change.. is the s-pen... i wish they could have placed it somewhere more easier to pick.. and it is so tiny that makes it not that comfortable to write with.. however I already ordered two Wacom pens to use with my note during work and home.
so far (my opinion) the Note & S2 (HD version coming soon) will be the most successful Android devices... they are the only 2 models that I found getting iphone users to jump ship into Android.. already right now two of my colleagues jumped ship from iPhone... and previously few for the S2... however, the reason why most of them moved to Android is only because they love tweaking and the extra hardware features they get with Samsung.. rest of the iPhone users seem will never ever move to Android.. as you mentioned "they are proud of their phones" and loyal to Apple products which I respect
my two cents
For me, none whatsoever. I've been using the Note for almost a week now and I've not felt this good about a phone since my HD2 and since that phone I've had the Sensation and the GS2. I've missed being able to use a proper stylus (general capacitive styli just don't cut it) Sure it has it's bugs and issues but then what new phone doesn't? In the Note, any issues are dwarfed by the advantages of having such a powerful and versatile device. It certainly won't be for everyone but that's why we have such a choice of phones and operating systems out there.

No deal breakers. Have had it for almost two weeks and it just works. It's light given the size of the device, and while one-handed operation is pretty much no-go, that's was a understandable tradeoff.
Having said that, I've read reviews that the camera focus is acting funny on the Note though. Wonder if this is fixable by installing the SGS2's camera app (since both use exactly the same camera module apparently)
The pro's of this phone outweigh the poor sound quality that this device outputs. It really is a beautiful phone. It it a touch laggy sometimes, but I am hopeful that these will be fixes with some software updates (wishful thinking?). I have read similar experiences for the S2 when it came out as far as lag issues.

Glad to hear no dealbreakers for this one. I am in the US and cant wait for this phone to be released so I can get rid of my captivate. Major deal breaker for that phone is the piss poor GPS. Glad to hear that the only issue seems to be a little lag which imo once more devs touch it will be reduced dramatically. Lag is almost always software related while my experience with my poor GPS on my captivate seems to be hardware related.
Just curious how is the GPS on the note, does it lock fast?

Advice from current S4 Owners Required!
One month before launch of S4 i sold my One X to buy S4 when it comes in market. When it finally came out, it had known issues of
>Screan Smearing/Pink tint
>Over Heating & Battery Drain
>Lags, Lags and Lags as compared to iPhone specially.
So i skipped S4 at launched and for the first i decided to try iPhone in my life, after 10 or so Android Phones!
NOW I WANT TO ASK FROM CURRENT S4 USERS, IF THIS PHONE IS STABLE ENOUGH AND FREE FROM ABOVE ISSUES FOR ME TO BUY IT NOW, OR SHOULD I WAIT S4 WITH GOOGLE AS I HATE TOUCHWIZ AND STOCK MAY BE LITE WEIGHT OR EVEN WAIT FOR NEXUS 5?
I like smoothness of iPhone, almost all softwares like, Viber, Skype, Facebook or more smooth and beautiful on iPhone than any android i ever used, they usually stutter on Android, my problem with iPhone at times is small screen, at times i feel smaller screen is blessing to carry phone around easily in pockets.
Sharing limitations of iPhone was taken care with Dropbox as i can share songs and videos with any phone via dropbox, at times i think of absolute sharing like in any Android Phone?
I have budget now a days to sale my brand new iPhone and add money and try S4 now? but on net too much confusion, thats why i ask users to give me there say.
Thanks in advance in case if you give me piece of your precious time here and give me your thoughts.
Kind Regards!
I have s4 its good in every aspect except the heating problem
If u play any game which requires a good level of ram than it gets heated up like an oven
U cant even put it on your ear after playing games
Rest all is good

Feels like downgrade
I had a Galaxy Note II before S4 I9500, and to be frank, it feels like a downgrade. No amount of tweaking seems to improve the lag, overheats like crazy and battery life, especially when compared to GN II, is much worse. Screen is good, but really, cannot tell the difference with naked eye. The only benefit for me was the size, as GN II's size was starting to get at me.

I don't know if its just me or I'm really a nitpicker. I have an officemate who has a note 2 and I can see the jagged edges of the icons on his screen. I must say the s4 is well worth it for a flagship device. I looked around today with a friend that is looking for his next phone.. we compared my phone to other phones and he's really amazed at my s4. He will get his own s4 next week.
I have the i9505 version.
Personally i didn't notice any overheating. Its same as s3 after 1h playing, just the s3 gets warm on bottom and s4 on top. I have nothing like some said here that phone got so hot that couldn't be touched
I noticed the smearing. Doesn't bother me at all and today was released new update , which is fixing the smearing problem.
LAGS? My s4 stock with all samsung's bloats on, is pretty damn smooth, i just noticed sometimes when closing multiple apps a bit of stutter in animations but nothing major here.
If you are not interested in Note 3 which anyway you will have to wait for, go for the s4. This is my opinion.
I remember when s3 came out with ICS on, was so so laggy and buggy and everything..after updates > jellybean was perfectly smooth.
So i'm sure s4 will get just better and better with every update.
If size isn't an issue, then wait for note 3, it will be a supreme device I feel so.

I have s4 its good in every aspect except the heating problem
If u play any game which requires a good level of ram than it gets heated up like an oven
U cant even put it on your ear after playing games
Rest all is good

Well, it means this heating issue is having by majority of people, which means it is genuine issue and its not just playing games, i guess its by doing anything extensive, like chatting hard or surfing etc? So i should try to relax and may be wait how stock S4 pans out? as strangely i am doing with iPhone too, only smaller screen has advantage and disadvantage, at times i feel, both phones do OK, so better stick to iPhone and think about other things in life

My dear, size is not that much of an issue, being a man here, but S4 had to be supreme of them all device as well if you remember, but cartoonish touchwiz is an issue, specially now as touchwiz often connected to lags. Plus with Note my concern is, Gosh we came out of Stylus Era, putting stylus again in phone, causing it to gain weight and size, you can't take notes on screen better then on actual paper i feel.
Yet i hope Sammy may not let you down again here with your expectation with Note 3, as you are saying, next time they will do a better Job!
My own little hope is Stock Android, but again Nexus 4 may be still have over heating less battery issues!

Personally i didn't notice any overheating. Its same as s3 after 1h playing, just the s3 gets warm on bottom and s4 on top. I have nothing like some said here that phone got so hot that couldn't be touched

So basically you are saying, Buy it and wait/hopes for updates to fix the problems, like stay on chances, little heating is not that of an issue, but something beyond that is not a pleasant feeling, but as people saying, its uncomfortable at times.
You are breaking news here i guess, that today smearing issue will be rest in peace, though i heard they are solving pink tint issue.
Moral of the story, which is sad, that, some users are having problems more than others, so i am not sure i will fall in which category, as usual!

Its not about hopes, because it will happen and updates will iron out all the issues, they always did it properly for their flagships. It was confirmed that smearing is gone on the newest update, so i guess the rest of the problems will be ironed out soon enough. Its true some has more problems than others, but this happens on all phones, not only samsung ones.
Will see what else is fixed in the new update. Looks like some camera improvements are done also.

I don't paint any rosy picture here, i was very upset last year with the s3 and all the SDS problems and all the rest, but samsung ,,fixed'' it with an update and things got better. It was confirmed by other users that flashed the new ROM that the smearing is gone. I'm not sure about the pink tint as this sound more a hardware problem on AMOLED screens, but if they will fix this somehow...even better. I have very very little pink tint at the bottom on the screen ( barely noticeable ) and this doesn't bother me. About the overheating, i guess i'm one of those which doesn;t have this issue, so for me at the moment everything is ok and i'm happy with my phone, even if this wasn't a planned upgrade, was because one of my s3's was stolen and i got the insurance out of it.

I don't where are you from and what s4 they sell in your country. 9500 or 9505?
I'm talking here about the 9505.
You can keep an eye on this thread >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252855&page=17
Soon users that will flash the new ROM will keep it updated if anything else is fixed, so you can decide.

I've had my note 4 for around 48 hours now and I'm shocked and appalled with the performance. It lags so much in almost anything you do from Web browsing to scrolling feeds in apps. I've never been this dissatisfied with the performance of an android device since the HTC Hero.
Why are more people not complaining about this? Are any of the custom roms out there fixing this? My device is N901F.
You must have a defective phone. Mine does not lag at all.

All Samsung devices are very laggy when in stock condition. That's Touchwiz for you.
I've owned the s3, s4, s5 and the note 4, and i can say without a doubt that this is the least laggy samsung phone I've ever used. and in all honestly, it tops the charts with the LG g2 as the least laggy phone I've ever had, period. idk what you're doing, but my phone flies 247.

Maybe because you're obviously a die hard Samsung fan is why you think this phone "flies 247". I can assure you compared to other current flagships it's a pig.
My only decision right now is to try some other roms or just sell it. Will never buy another Samsung again though. SwiftKey is even struggling to keep up while I type this.....

Have you tried a factory reset? The retail Note 4 is not rooted yet so you won't be able to flash a different ROM.
I have only one suggestion, Nova Launcher and use all the " Faster than Light" stettings
I've had my N4 for 4 days now, came from a BB device. I am very impressed with the speed and how fluid everything has been working. I've installed new mail, calendar apps, been web surfing and playing with Themer and haven't experienced any lag at all. Start with reset and go from there.
There's a little lag, but not as much as older Samsung phones, much less than the G3. Maybe yours is defective. I agree with other people, being a jackass and calling people fan boys won't help you.
As for Swifykey, it's been nothing but a laggy bundle of hell for a long time for me no matter what phone I use. The Samsung keyboard owns it.
lets face it I have vzw n4 and it sometimes does lag.
Cache clear/wipe helps.

LMFAO. furthest from a die hard samsung fan, buddy. rather than just speak out your ass, do research first. if you go through my post history you'll find I've criticized the s4 on so many occasions of it being a slow, laggy, over heating pos. I had it for like 3 months before I put it aside and used my HTC dna as my main phone again.
I had the s5 for 7 hours, hated it, and returned it.
then I had an LG g2 for over a full year, which is the longest I've had an android phone.
if i were ever a fan boy, it would have been an htc fanboy back when I had the dinc, rezound and dna. I had an s3, which was a great phone at the time, and then once ics hit it, it became unusable and laggy.
look through my post history and find tons of posts complaining about samsung lag and how I hated touchwiz.
the note 4 is finally a good product from Samsung, and that's coming from someone who couldn't stand their lag since like 2012.

Clearly a defective device, unless you're trolling around. My device only lags when using the messaging app to text or the pattern to unlock. Even then, it doesn't lag anywhere close to as much as any other phone (stock) I've ever owned (including HTC devices and iPhone's). Bring it back and tell them that your device is defective, and demand an exchange. That's what I did for my first 2 Black Note 4's that had issues.

I came from the HTC One M8. That phone was lightning fast, and very smooth. When I first got the N4, I felt the same as you and today still wonder wtf Samsung is doing with their code that makes their devices run so poorly compared to other top tier android phones. While I still notice lag and stutter on occasion, the device generally seems to have improved over my 4 weeks of using it. I use Nova launcher, Google keyboard, disabled unlock effect, disabled a bunch of apps and options I don't need or use and it generally feels faster and more smooth. I should mention that I don't think I've simply gotten use to the lag. I played with my M8 a bit before I sold it a week ago and the performance difference didn't seem as drastic. The only place I still notice poor or slow performance is in the messaging app, however since I turned off priority contacts, it seems to be more responsive.

Cool story Bro.
Problem with most people is they buy a device and they blindly defend it. I am completely non bias. I can afford to be. I'll just buy another device. If you're on the fence about buying a note 4 and reading this.... Don't. Not until further updates are released anyway.
I'll make a video to prove you muppets wrong. This **** lags. Fact. And no. This device is not faulty. Always very easy to pull the faulty card when someone challenges your precious device you've waited 2 years to upgrade to. Pathetic paupers.

No doubt the note lags. I've had evey high end phone this year and the note is one of the slowest. Faster than the S5. That's about it. None the less is probably my favorite phone this year. It has everything in one package. Awesome battery life, phenomenal screen and camera, excellent looks and build quality. After using the G3 , M8, and the turbo I do miss the speed, but all the other stuff makes it up for me.
Anyone who thinks the note doesn't lag is either delusional or hasn't used a non-Samsung device.
I have an m8 also. It's lightning compared to this **** and it's almost a year older? And with far less raw power. It's not acceptable. Well done for speaking up against the fan boys.
Please keep the conversation cordial. The name calling as minor as you all think it may be is disrespectful and not tolerated on XDA.

There have been several cases where users report lag and returned their phone as a defective device. Those users reported the 2nd phone as being lag free.
After the first update i experience no lag except for an occational messaging lag.
Maybe the reason you dont hear 98% of the people complain is because they dont have a problem. You're not the only one willing to open their mouth about such issue. These people are trying help you but you're insisting that your phone is some how the golden device that speaks for the rest. Things happen during manufacturing process, defective devices happen. We're a community come be respectful, contribute, enjoy your phone. The community doesnt work for anyone, so attacking it isn't going to do you any ounce of good. I hope you find the fix to YOUR problem. If that means switching phones so be it. For the rest of us we are happy with our phones and are experiencing minimal lag.
Why don't you try disabling some apps, Switching launchers and keyboards?

no real complaints here with mine. I also came from the note 7 as well. The n7 definitely had a more premium feel but this phone isn't all that bad. Good lord, it's just a phone. It does what it is intended to do, and does it very well. Don't like it, plenty of competition out there. Try flashing the G935U firmware if you haven't. It seems to run a lot better for most people since it's stripped of all the carrier bloatware. You can then manually flash the modem file from the latest T-mobile firmware to have 256qam enabled.

It does NOT do what it is intended. Unfortunately I was sucker into this downgrade and I can not get another phone. Don't put words into my mouth, I never said there was a lack of options. I am merely posting this thread to anyone looking for the downsides of owning this phone. On stock, its laggy and hot. On a custom rom, it is even more laggy, hot, and if you plan on playing games on the Gear VR, expect about 10 minutes of play before it over heats. I'll take a video of it so you guys can see. There is also severe graphical tearing in Gear VR, while not constant, they happen more often than they should -_-

Part of the reason why I went with the S7 E. I got pampered by my Note 5 and it's discontinuation really threw me off.
I got another S7 E on top of my closet sealed that Tmobile gave me. Not sure if to turn it around and sell it or wait to see if Sammy comes out with any special promotion on a trade in.

I'm not rooted. My understanding is that the only root solutions on the Snapdragon edition require you to use an engineering kernel with poor performance. I'm happy just using Adaway with the stock Samsung browser and I can just live without the rest of the root 'benefits'.

Here's the thing nobody is looking for the downsides of owning this phone. You're looking for people to confirm your opinion and nothing more. Let me be clear, the problems you are having with your phone as you've described are limited to your device. Perhaps you got a bum device. It happens, I did replace mine under warranty for a hardware fault in the AOD and edge clock displays. Perhaps you loaded up your phone with so much garbage that it simply chokes on everything you have running in the background. I don't know and will not claim to know. The root lag and heat are well known issues due to the engineering bootloader. This is explained in the rooting threads here. You went ahead and rooted it knowing this, don't be surprised that you are experiencing issues that are clearly stated will happen if you root.
I have the gear VR as well and the few times I played games on it I had no heat issues or screen tearing issues. None. My phone is stock and exhibits no noticeable lag or heat. I can get 4-5 hours of screen time easily with room to spare. Now, I rarely play games, screen time is work related, but I have never experienced excessive heat when playing high-end games either. Of course I don't use facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat, and whatever other garbage you kids do nowadays.
So my point stands. Don't like this device, get another one. Get one that is easily rootable, get one with stock Android, or whatever you want. But understand that the problems you are having are either the fault of your specific device or your fault. If it's the former, a new device will help. If it's the latter, you should address the underlying issues before screaming about how bad this phone is. But there is no systematic problem in the GS7 line.
Whoa so much tension here. I've had 2 S7 edges and both exhibited some lag here or there. The biggest problem I had with the phone is the inconsistency in its performance and smoothness. With that said, I'm hoping Samsung will do a better job with optimizing Nougat.
this is insane. OP is throwing a fit about his phone being hot and laggy when he has it ROOTED. jesus christ man. this phone isn't laggy or hot, you're just using the wrong kernel for your phone. eng kernel isnt made for performance. it's made for engineering. unroot your phone and/or flash U firmware and stop being an ignorant crybaby.
ON QC S7/E, ROOTING CAUSES LAG AND OVERHEAT ISSUES. THERE IS NO FIX.
this phone isn't meant to be rooted. which means it's perfect for people like OP. because you obviously can't follow instructions or advice from all the root guides and threads on here. you just ignore all warnings and then make a thread to whine about your malfunctioning phone when it starts doing the things you were warned it would do.

You must be a sad little man or kid) to try and belittle someone else's opinion that does not agree with you loving the device. Sadly I was looking at the downside of owning this phone but I didn;t look deep enough. Why would you Pros and not the Cons. You buy a brand new Ford and it breaks on your before you even reached 50k mile but had you looked into the cons of that make a model you would know NOT TO FREAKING BUY IT. I wish I had someone post a negative review of the phone itself so I could of avoided buying it, twice.
As for your solution, as if giving up said phone for way less than what one bought it for it is not much of an option unless I want to take a loss. As far as you not having heat issues, I always have it and have seen others have similar issues. So you rarely play games yet you can sit there and tell me with absolute certainty that the phone does not over heat... right very reassuring. Remind yourself never to review phones. I do use facebook, but not that app, just the web browser. And I assure you, I am no kid, your attempt to insult falls very.... very short, much like your intelligence. As far as the phone not having a systematic problem, I can go on a dozens threads here on this site alone and even review sites and even youtube videos that say the very exact opposite of you. And again, this belittling thing your doing, either you have WAY too much time on your hands and are constantly looking for an opportunity to try and appear higher than others by belittling or you... are just a sad man or kid. Case in point, don't like my thread, don't comment. And I would advise against trying to belittle anyone else, whether done here or in your actual life.
My opinion, don't like my thread, don't post in it.

You miss the part that I had this issue even when I had it stocked. Should I direct you to the many threads, reviews sites, and youtube, not to mention the other posters who said the same thing? Either contribute or don't post in my thread as I mentioned before. You may fine nothing wrong with this device, rooted or not, I have had this phone constantly overheat, while stocked, and while rooted. Get over it your shock of me throwing a fit on a 800 dollar phone.

Agreed
I got another S7 E on top of my closet sealed that Tmobile gave me. Not sure if to turn it around and sell it or wait to see if Sammy comes out with any special promotion on a trade in.[/QUOTE]
Trade it in on what? Black Friday is on the horizon so what ever deals there are will be made then.

There was no belittling on my part in anything I said, unlike your post. If you found it, you must have looked for it very hard and are overly sensitive when someone disagrees with you. Like I said, I have no issues with heat, battery, gear vr, or anything else. Whether I play games or otherwise. I suggested that your phone is bad or something you're doing is causing it. Sorry you don't like my suggestions, but it is what it is. Like is said, move on to a different device and hopefully you'll be happy with your choice. I know at least 3 other people with the gs7e that have none of your issues, as well as plenty of Internet reviews that state the same.
Lag fixed on the Nougat beta. Also has a few features I used to root for that are baked in now. Only thing missing is V4A and system wide add blocking.
