I've tried to send a file from the LG G2 to the Galaxy S4, however it doesn't. There is no such wifi direct option in the share menu, only the SmartShare Beam and it doesn't find the other device.
Sending between two S4 works perfectly though. Is each manufacturer implementing a different version of wifi direct or is LG's fault?

Does the tmobile version of the G2 have NFC? I cannot seem to get it to read any tag or connect to any NFC devices. The NFC is turned on in the settings. Has anyone used NFC successfully on the tmobile version?
Yes I have.
I have used it to send/receive pictures (G2/S4). I have also used it a few times at a vending machine getting a coke for 30 coke reward points through ISIS.
Works fine here bud.
Sent from my LG-D801
I'm not using a TMobile G2, but iirc there are different NFC standards and therefore different NFC tags - make sure you are using the correct tags!
With my D802 I have no problem at all to use NFC - created the tags with Trigger > works great!
LG G2 NFC transfer becomes bluetooth after kitkat update HELP
everything started after updating my phone to kitkat 4.2.2
every time i send a file it will automatically turn on the paired phone's bluetooth and send the file via bluetooth, sending takes long because it is sent via bluetooth instead of NFC
never had this issue before the update, had the same issue transferring files on 2 phones, one GalaxyNote3 and another LG G2.
please help
NFC is only used to negotiate (pair) between two devices -- it's always been that way, as NFC is very low-bandwidth. Actual transfers are accomplished via BT/WiFi. See:
en[dot]wikipedia[dot]org/wiki/Near_field_communication#Bluetooth_and_Wi-Fi_connections
en[dot]wikipedia[dot]org/wiki/Android_Beam
If it wasn't done this way, given the size of many files, you'd need to keep the devices held together for the duration of the actual transfer. BT/WiFi eliminates that need.
but why did this just happen now just after the update? it was perfectly fine before the update
Files have never been transferred over the NFC link -- there's simply not enough bandwidth to do so. Perhaps older ROM versions didn't activate the BT icon, or maybe they used WiFi direct instead.

flash 4.2.2 back or install superbeam
Hi guys,
I am new here. Initially I had my vs980(verizon) LG G2 on official android 4.4(kitkat) and used a t mobile sim(but I never used to get 4g internet. I used to get HSPA(3g)internet but I had to reboot each time to use it,2g internet worked fine) and I could call and send messages.
My problem
And then something weird happened. I couldnt get any connectivity at all. It says that I have connected to a 4g network, but when I try to call the connectivity dissappears. I can recieve messages, but message sending fails. I cant recieve or send calls.
Solutions I tried
1. Tried my friends T mobile SIM on mine. Same issue ( But my SIM works normally on his phone)
2. Installed official 39a lollipop from verizon. Same issue
3. Installed T-mobile ROM lollipop which I found on xda here . Same issue persists, but I can at least use wifi calling now.
Any idea on what the issue might be? Or any solution?
Do I need to try flashing a different modem or something?
Or could this be a hardware issue? since it failed across different roms(official/unofficial)
If its a hardware issue, any idea what parts should be replaced?
Current state: VZW LG V20 VS995, 7.0, unrooted
So, I've used Samsung smartphones for years and one of my must-haves is an IR blaster. I moved from a Note 4 to the LG V20, and all is good, except for one thing.
I've used Beep n Go for digital storage of loyalty and membership cards. As you may know, that app uses a beaming service where information from the bar code is beamed to the handheld or bed scanner to transmit the information.
For POS scanners where they're using imaging technology, Stocard works fine. But my gym apparently is using the older laser scanner (red line moving across the bar code), so none of the apps will work.
I was able to get Beep n Go onto the V20, but the Mobeam beaming service app that beams the card info can't be installed. Since the V20 has the hardware (IR blaster and proximity sensor), I thought that this would work, but apparently not. I tried sideloading the apk for Mobeam, but the install fails because there's already a beaming service installed.
I'd rather not root (I use the V20 to access work email, and non-rooted devices are authenticated), but I guess I could root, do my business, then unroot if that's possible.
Has anyone else ever run into this?
Thanks!!

Doesnt magisk hide the root making the authentication pass as true? I mean, i rooted my lg v20 h918 and im currently using a custom rom with magisk and im able to use android pay (which requires authentication) thanks to magisk.
I have to admit I am a bit out of element here (with Samsung devices), but I am kind of at a loss on where to go for help with this so I thought I would throw this out there...
I have a customer that uses a proprietary app that includes an industry standard SIP softphone client, we have hundreds of these deployed and working fine, with the exception of bone stock Verizon branded Samsung Galaxy S7 (and Edge) devices but only when on WiFi networks, on mobile data it works fine.
EDIT: We discovered the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is exhibiting the same behavior as well.
The client software (Mitel MiCollab for Mobile) installs and works normally when on mobile data, but the SIP softphone cannot register to the SIP server on any WiFi network. Take the exact same app and settings to any other device we have tried and it works fine. It is as if when connected to WiFi, something built into the device is blocking the ports used by the SIP phone, we have actually taken one and factory defaulted it, setup email and the client software without installing anything else and it still fails, so it isn't an app that is added by the user that is causing a problem. Other Samsung devices like the S6 and J7 devices work fine, so it is something specific to the S7 & Note 5 series.
Anyone have any ideas here? I have limited access to the device, just figured enthusiasts like XDA users might have some insight into the device.
