Moved from Samsung to LG - Question on Beaming Service - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Current state: VZW LG V20 VS995, 7.0, unrooted
So, I've used Samsung smartphones for years and one of my must-haves is an IR blaster. I moved from a Note 4 to the LG V20, and all is good, except for one thing.
I've used Beep n Go for digital storage of loyalty and membership cards. As you may know, that app uses a beaming service where information from the bar code is beamed to the handheld or bed scanner to transmit the information.
For POS scanners where they're using imaging technology, Stocard works fine. But my gym apparently is using the older laser scanner (red line moving across the bar code), so none of the apps will work.
I was able to get Beep n Go onto the V20, but the Mobeam beaming service app that beams the card info can't be installed. Since the V20 has the hardware (IR blaster and proximity sensor), I thought that this would work, but apparently not. I tried sideloading the apk for Mobeam, but the install fails because there's already a beaming service installed.
I'd rather not root (I use the V20 to access work email, and non-rooted devices are authenticated), but I guess I could root, do my business, then unroot if that's possible.
Has anyone else ever run into this?
Thanks!!

Doesnt magisk hide the root making the authentication pass as true? I mean, i rooted my lg v20 h918 and im currently using a custom rom with magisk and im able to use android pay (which requires authentication) thanks to magisk.

Anyone gotten tap and pay to work on CM 11?

im on CM11 bootloader unlocked, gsm unlocked razr M on T-mobile with the latest 3/13/14 update of the wallet app.
CM 11 kitkat 4.4.2 has HCE and tap and pay NFC should be working without a problem, yet I have never gotten it to work and have tried it at multiple locations.
Is there something im missing?
EDIT: PROBLEM AND SOLUTION
okay after EXTENSIVE research, i have finally found our problem. so basically our phones have the capability for TnP to work. The only issue is drivers and support.
As of now TnP only works with Broadcom NFC chipsets and nothing else, so even if your phone has NFC, TnP will not work unless it is a Broadcom controller chipset. Our razr phones have NXP NFC chipsets which as of right now are not supported by the google wallet app (google's fault) so Host Card Emulation (HCE) support in kitkat is missing from AOSP roms
this has absolutely nothing to do with the secure element anymore at all in 4.4.2. Google went the HCE specifically so the likes of verizon couldn't block the TnP function.
TL;DR
We will get it, it is only a matter of time. either direct from wallet app support for our NXP chipset or from our wonderful dev community. Currently the code for NXP's NFC chips is empty for the host card emulation to work.
some active work being done if you can help the movement (sorry I can't post links yet)

Yeah, there's something missing on the M and HD that won't allow TnP to work. I can't remember what exactly it is, but there was a pretty good discussion about it in the HD forum.
What you're thinking of is a "secure element". This was a thing built into older phones to enable stuff like NFC payments. Our phone does not have one built in to it.
Tmobile phones (and probably the others) that support ISIS don't use one built into the phone, but have a secure element built into the sim card (you need a new sim, along with methods of accessing it which CM probably doesn't have).
Kit Kat has a software-only version of the "secure element" and should not require anything built into the phone or the sim card. In theory you just have to convince google wallet to use the software one. That said, there's still probably some work to do to convince google wallet to do its thing. I think it still only enables tap to pay for some phones. What OP is asking for should be possible.

[Q] Is it possible to use the S5 as a SIP phone over wire (non-wifi,non-mobile)?

I'm strongly opposed to wi-fi and mobile radiation.
However I bought this S5 for taking photos primarily (16MP cam and all) and to test my websites on real smartphones.
So my ISDN phone is about the break and I thought "hey I bought this expensive piece of crap which can't do reverse tethering without rooting it, why not use it as a SIP phone instead of this phone that is about to break and save some money?"
Well I have found that with some Galaxy Pro tabs you're able to buy a USB<->RJ45 adapter, plug it in and use it as a SIP phone client, video calls and all.
Apparently you can't do this with the S5. At least not officially.
Right now my options are: sell it or trip knox and install a custom system. I'm trying to sell it right now but in case it won't get sold I'm stuck with it. (I have found no app that does reverse tethering properly, I have to set it up manually every time and even then some apps won't recognize a connection since neither 3G or wifi is enabled)
So my question is, do any of the current images floating around support a USB<->RJ45 adapter and does reverse tethering work out of the box on one of these images and do they also have a configurable SIP client?

SIP Softphone not working

I have to admit I am a bit out of element here (with Samsung devices), but I am kind of at a loss on where to go for help with this so I thought I would throw this out there...
I have a customer that uses a proprietary app that includes an industry standard SIP softphone client, we have hundreds of these deployed and working fine, with the exception of bone stock Verizon branded Samsung Galaxy S7 (and Edge) devices but only when on WiFi networks, on mobile data it works fine.
EDIT: We discovered the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is exhibiting the same behavior as well.
The client software (Mitel MiCollab for Mobile) installs and works normally when on mobile data, but the SIP softphone cannot register to the SIP server on any WiFi network. Take the exact same app and settings to any other device we have tried and it works fine. It is as if when connected to WiFi, something built into the device is blocking the ports used by the SIP phone, we have actually taken one and factory defaulted it, setup email and the client software without installing anything else and it still fails, so it isn't an app that is added by the user that is causing a problem. Other Samsung devices like the S6 and J7 devices work fine, so it is something specific to the S7 & Note 5 series.
Anyone have any ideas here? I have limited access to the device, just figured enthusiasts like XDA users might have some insight into the device.

three verizon nougat questions

I am currently on 935U, Marshmallow 6.01 PL4 (phone is a verizon Edge s7), unrooted.
1) I have read that the samsung dialer is no longer on Nougat , nor is the Samsung caller id?
Can someone verify if this is true? From reading further, I am not sure if it is the aesthetics that have changed or the actual dialer. My favorite feature of the edge 7 is the suspected spam id and block that comes up as a call comes in and also, sthe small window that comes up at the top of the phone to answer a call when you are in another app. Can anyone who has taken verizon nougat tell me if these features are no longer available?
2) I have read that tethering is not available on nougat without tweaking. Is this the same as mobile hotspot? I currently use mobile hotspot for my tablet when I am traveling and wifi signal is poor. I connect to the mobile hotspot using bluetooth. Can someone verify whether or not this option is available on Verizon Nougat without tweaking?
3) Lastly, my phone has lagged up greatly lately, I am considering flashing back to verizon software and taking nougat. If I am unhappy, will I be able to go back to 935 Marshmallow (currently on PL4) or is reverting back to Marshmallow not a possibility.
thanks in advance!
I'm not sure if it's the dialer either, bit give hiya a trt. It's by whitepaper and blocks spam really well, plus you can submit numbers as well for blocking.

This has never been available on Verizon firmware. Not even on 6.0. Verizon ripped the feature out to force you to buy "Verizon Caller ID" instead.

"Mobile Hotspot" and "tethering" are the exact same thing. Most people who say "tethering" are referring to PDANet or whatever, because they're on grandfathered UDPs and refuse to switch to new plans. I have Wifi, Bluetooth and USB available as options for sharing my phone's LTE connection to a computer or tablet - I can even plug my phone into my router and have my router use it as the modem for my entire home network.

Generally, "lagging" is due to rogue apps and/or a corrupt cache. I would look at any apps that have suspicious permissions (why would a flashlight app need to access your contacts, for example) and dump them, and clear the cache.
As of right now, I'm running Verizon's 7.0 side by side with U 6.0.1 on two different Edges. 7.0 is beautiful and fast, but Verizon changes too much and removes too many features. If you only have one device, I would stick with the U FW and wait till next month for the U 7.0 update. My two cents.
@raduque Really appreciate the detailed answer!

US996 Wi-Fi calling

Yes I have read many articles including this one before posting.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/lg-v20-us996-updates-vs-carrier-models-t3635327
As a prior user of the excellent unlocked only XT1575 Moto X Pure, I was expecting my used US996 to have no issues with Verizon.
Besides the fact you cannot even activate the phone directly without having an activated Verizon SIM already, the phone works excellently apart from Wi-Fi calling being conspicuously absent.
After using the Quick Shortcut app to access the various Wi-Fi calling areas in the deeper part of phone functions, as well as the "WiFi Calling provisioning" (in the hidden info menu that just turned itself back off)
I have grown frustrated enough to look up a deprecated Magisk module that it's originator claimed does not work but some others have supposedly had success with - voenabler.
This finally leads me to calling Verizon & getting to actual tech support where the dude educates me on the manufacturer having to provision from the factory software the specific carrier approved/compatible functions including Wi-Fi calling.
This leads me to the point that if LG has any power whatsoever in this matter, can we petition them for the mythical Android 9 update to include VO Wi-Fi calling with Verizon & carrier compatibility so we can activate this phone normally?
Pie is not that impressive an update on it's own; if some basic functionality could be added back, it would be a boon to everyone that is still holding on to their V20's for as long as possible.
Probably aiming too high & if so, can I just flash the VS995 Verizon V20 firmware with my bootloader unloacked to retain root functionality?
Read a couple threads about successful flashing as the hardware is identical but no mention of unlocked bootloaders/OTA updates or Magisk root.
Cheers
If you were to figure out how to get this working, I'd be interested.
