Anyone got it working? if so, how? Music just sounds dull without finely tuned viper settings

No and it will probably not work until they upgraded it for 5.0x.
Or some one creates a custom kernel that run permisive mode.
When Samsung release the source for the kernel.
Enforceing mode kernels just dont work with Viper4Android on 5.0x.
Same issue on some of the later cm12 Roms.
But they do have some custom kernels.

Viper isn't supported yet, that goes for any of the Note 3 Lollipop roms as they are based on the same source. We're going have to wait until there's a fix or a custom kernel is introduced.
i got it working but only with AOSP ROMs.

When I switched to CM 12.1 my first thought was also about flashing Boeffla kernel.
But I decided to try native CM kernel for a few days and surprisingly I was not disappointed
Nice, fast kernel, battery friendly.
So there is no need for me to flash Boeffla on CM 12.1
Boeffla kernel is not compatible with CM and he won't make a Kernel for CM until there is an official CM rom

Thanks for the info! can you tell me will AK kernel work in cm12.1?
Hi Chetan, just wondering which version of CM you are using, and how you find it (in particular photo quality). I'm very tempted to flash it myself, but have just started using Boeffla Kernel with OOS, so wish to give that a bit of a go...

No problem bro! Can you tell me which Custom rom and Kernel you using in your OP2?? :silly:
Since development of AK has ceased, don't expect the last version of AK to work with "never" builds of CM12.1 though.

Why do you think you need to tweak it?
It works great out of the box
I just edited system/etc/thermal-engine.conf to reduce thermal throttling in Real Racing 3

[Discussion] ViPER4Android treble

Hi,
I own Honor 7X and unfortunately their not ViPER4Android working on emui 8 due to lib64.
My hopes and dreams are Treble with ViPER4Android working.
I try AOSP and can't make ViPER4Android working, every time he ask to install driver again and again.
Same with RR and LineageOS.
Use ViPER4Android apk, ViPER4Android zip on TWRP or viper4arise or magisk module.... Same ****.
Someone have successfully install and working ViPER4Android on Treble Rom?
Pls, thx
I don't think that will ever be implemented in a treble based ROMs.. the whole point of treble is to have one generic system image for multiple devices, and non hardware specific changes won't most likely be included. Example the essential pH-1 has the camera mod that clips on the phone, well that isn't supported and isn't going to be..now devices with softkeys and navbars will have a commit to include this support. You may want to just try some other equalizers on the play store
Did you try installing V4A through magisk?
I did and it's working great [emoji16]

Installing with TWRP wont work cuz of missing libs on AOSP. Install Magisk and the Viper4Android module , this will add the necessary additions and modifications. It´s the only way

The point is , Viper was meant to install on custom roms not stock aosp rom. This is stock android not a custom rom base on aosp.

Then your previous suggestion is totally invalid, can we not derail this thread any further?
I use the magisk module on Lineage 15.1 treble on my mido, working great. You need to uninstall AudioFx though since it's the default equalizer.

I work with ViPER4Android since Galaxy S2, I always managed to make ViPER4Android work.
But with treble I can't. ViPER4Android always ask me to install driver again ans again.
I try on LineageOS, AOSP, RR. No matter I use apk from xda labs or flash zip in Twrp, etc...
If someone can explain what he/she did to make Viper work.
Really appriciated

This issue is about EMUI 8 kernel. When you flash Treble GSIs you don't touch the phone's kernel and EMUI 8 kernel doesn't allow any sound mods to work correctly

There is a custom kernel released now for my device (Honor 8 Lite) on Oreo, but will flashing the kernel enable Viper to work? Looking forward to your response!

Yeah, that's what I thought too... but if I'm running a custom ROM (Resurrection Remix), it isn't EMUI based, so shouldn't Viper work?

Yeah I'm getting that too. Maybe I'll try flashing custom kernel and seeing if that works. I heard that it doesn't work even with custom kernel because the vendor partition still contains files from EMUI that prevent Viper from working, but I don't know much about the topic...

The rejection of V4A drivers is often caused by Selinux. I have to set it to Permissive every time I install V4A drivers ( after you reboot, just set back to Enforcing and V4A will still work ).
I don't have a Huawei device but just wanted to mention it in case you guys haven't tried that.

Stock ROM Advantage if any

Is there any advantage using stock ROM even now?
Regarding stability? Or Network fluctuation OR everything sorted out in Custom already?
Is there anything to lose in custom or only i'll gain witching to custom ROM?

Safetynet and Google play certification is something you will never have without trick(not even sure about that) on custom ROM
Rest is a matter of opinion
Post with "I'm on a custom rom and I pass safetynet" incoming !?
Yes but not without magisk or some kind of dirty hiding method which breaks from time to time
---------- Post added at 06:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:21 PM ----------
Also if you don't care about safetynet and co
Stock rom is the simplest to modify with Xposed and substratum
No hassle, stability and monthly updates?
I've also got VoLTE & VoWiFi on stock, don't know if custom roms support this...

Already doing that.
Disabling Busybox & xposed allows passing safetynet for that matter.
Right now only thing i lack in stock is Screen Recording with internal audio. Hoping custom ROM like LOS, RR has workaround.

No Hassle?? I have to dirty flash Stock ROM every update anyway.
Monthly updates are provided by custom ROM.
VoLTE is working in most Custom ROM.
Don't know VoWifi. Never used that.

I've only tried Resurrection Remix, but I noticed that the audio (for music playback, through both the speaker and the headphones) is much better on the stock ROM.
Note that I did not attempt to flash ViPER4Android or anything like that. If anyone has, I'd be interested in a comparison.

Coz stock ROM has Dirac i guess. In Custom ROM have to use ported Dirac. Next time you wanna try RR, consider that.

ported dirac? a link please?
The only thing that makes me want to use stock ROM is its Bluetooth headphones behavior. Namely, when I connect my Bluetooth headphones while using a custom ROM, notifications and ringer get redirected to my Bluetooth headphones.
I guess this is what people who use Bluetooth speakers want (so that their phone speaker wouldn't ring unsynchronized with Bluetooth audio), but this means that if I take off my Bluetooth headphones and forget to turn them off, I will miss all my calls and notifications.
For me, this is a huge problem. It's sad that no one else is bothered by this and that there are absolutely no ways to change this.

I did consider it. At the time, the only information I could find was this thread, this thread, and this one. But this morning, I found this DIRAC port. The post says that the software add-on won't work with Oreo, but the hardware add-on might.
Next time I flash I'll try it, but if anyone else has actually tried this already on the Mi A1 with a custom ROM, I'd be interested in hearing about their experience.
Nobody's talking about how awful the speaker sounds in custom rom compared to stock? The fact that the sound is tinny, shallow and lacking any sort of bass
The second thing is microphone. It's atrocious compared to stock
And also, battery life on stock is absolutely better than custom roms. Custom roms are great but not in terms of stability.

SoT is subjective but overall, my most SoT was on stock roms (I once reached 11 hrs of SoT but that was very light usage, youtube, telegram, instagram, etc...) I would get 1-3 hrs less battery on custom roms
