Overlay buttons not working on nexus 4 since lollipop - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, Wondering if anyone else has this issue and what to do...
Buttons like the compose new email pencil in gmail or the open dial pad in the dialler app don't do anything when I press since installing lollipop (i've had the 2nd update and tried a factory reset but no luck).
It is like the button doesn't exist - for example in the dialler it will open the contact behind the button instead or in gmail it will open an email.
When I rotate the screen in gmail to landscape the button is responsive again. I don't think it's hardware because it was exactly after lollipop was installed.
any ideas?
Thanks

Use Hardware key to Show Notification Message

Is there a way to map a hardware button to display the Notification popup (New Mail, Voice Mail, Reminder) while in another application? I know you can go back to the Today screen and use the left Smart Button, but I would prefer to do it without leaving that screen.
I currently use SmartsKey and AEButton to remay my buttons all over the place, but from what I can tell neither of them can do this.
Any thoughts?

Buttons BUG when connecting to MSN

Is anybody aware of a bug in the buttons?
When I open my MSN and close it afterwards, my calendar and contacts (button 1-2) don't work anymore.
Only resetting helps.
Any ideas?
I think I've found the problem
when I use the Leng keyboard plugin (for international input) the extra buttons are disabled. When I switch back to the old keyboard and back again, it is solved.
I didn't have this problem before. there must be s.th. changed

Dial and home button inactive

Hi everyone! As the title says, for some strange reason this morning my 'Home' button won't work from any application, the button however does make the screen light up and the buttons light up, but does not take you back to the home screen... also, when at the home screen, the dial button would usually bring the contacts or the dialer page up, but this is not working either, however, if I go into the contacts shortcut on the home screen and select a contact and press the dial button there, it will call them...
so basically, my main issue is the Home button not working!
Its not rooted *yet* and is therefore running a standard rom, it does have a fair few apps installed tho, but I have used the advanced task manager to close everything... I'm v' new to all this Android stuff as up until a few months ago, I was a Windows Mobile person with my previous SPV's and HTC's so any help would be greatly appriciated!
Thanks, Adam.

Back Button will not exit contacts after JL2 upgrade...

I have also installed LauncherPro Plus, Does anyone else have thisz problem? If so, has anyone found a solution to fix it? Hitting back in contacts does not go back to home screen, it sticks in the contacts until I use the home button to go back.
and sometimes instead of going back it activates the "screenshot" mode instead right? i find that soo effing annoying!
Try long-pressing the Contacts icon on the LP dock and changing it to the Contacts application.

Keyboard not typing / rotation sticking since KK upgrade

My wife has an unrooted Verizon Note 3. Since the KK upgrade, she's had problems with the keyboard and rotation. For the keyboard, sometimes when she tries to reply to a message, the keyboard won't type. She has to exit out of the app, long-press home to clear all open apps, and open the messaging app back up, sometimes several times. For the rotation, she'll sometimes be holding it completely portrait, but it will rotate landscape. Has anyone had any similar issues since the KK upgrade?

I've had issues were the keyboard will stay up when I close an app just after using the keyboard. For example, I'll hit the Home button after typing out a text message in Hangouts to my wife, the home screen launcher will come up but the keyboard will still be up. The only way to get it down is to hit the return key. Happens every now and then but not enough to be annoying enough for me to try to fix it. lol. But I don't remember this happening before 4.4. I use Google Keyboard.
