Hey guys. I have a problem with my SGY. Windows does not detect it, tried different cables, but no luck. Running Windows 8.1.
I have also tried it with a different PC, with Win XP, it works. I also ran Live Ubuntu, it also detects it, so it's a problem in Windows.
Tried reinstalling Kies, USB drivers, but it doesn't help, no yellow triangles in Device Manager.
Odin does detect the phone while it is in Download Mode, it is in COM3.
Does anyone know what to do here?

Follow my instructions for how to get windows 8.1 to recognise your phone - links in my signature
Basically
Install Samsung USB drivers from my firmware thread
Remember in Windows 8.1 you have to run the setup in compatibility mode - right click the setup file - click properties - select compatibility tab - select run this programme in compatibility mode for - select windows xp sp3 - apply
Run the setup - it will now run & install
Plug your phone into the rear USB port (any if on laptop)
Now plug in any other USB device that you have already installed eg a USB mouse dongle
Windows 8.1 will now detect your phone

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade the firmware to the latest one but USB option doesn't appear.
- I put it in bootloader mode properly pushing cam button and connecting the cable, then 0. USB appears in the 3 coloured screen.
- I disabled USB conection in Windows Mobile Device Center. I use windows Vista.
Any suggestion?
Thanks

If you know someone with WinXP, you're better off putting the files you're working with on a USB stick and using their machine for a little while. I tried on Vista 64bit and tried to make it work in a Virtual Machine with XP running and got stuck at the MTTY/TeraTermPro part.
I was working on someone's WinXP pc recently and when done, I popped in my USB key with all the cellphone tools I was using and completed the process using the PC. I had to load ActiveSync, but that uninstalls really easily.
Good luck!
I wonder how these tools would work in Windows 7 using the XP mode compatibility addon...
how about win7 plz ,
whatever i do , no USB port at mtty
Ive just installed Windows 7 on my PC and its great! However, my Magic doesn't seem to work with it...I just get that 'USB device not recognised' message"!
Does anybody else get this?

i got the same problem. however there is a workaround. you could google for a zip file containing the driver files (not an installer) and install them using "Device managers". that will connect the Magic, and you can adb with it. And no, even with that HTC Sync does not work.
Install the drivers and it will be recognize. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and no probs connecting to MT3G.
I have a 64 bit Win7 and i installed vista x64 driver and it works fine
Just found these drivers for Windows 7. Installing them now so will let you know if they work!!

I had to go to Printers and devices or whatever it's called, then right click on Android phone, choose properties (with admin access) and driver. Then update driver for the phone itself (currently it probably say Dream or something) and always choose to browse to the file manually. Then click to get a list of compatible drivers, and then click "HAVE DISK" (this is the only way I got it to work) and browse to the driver files for Windows 7 in
C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x64
and it should work.
I don't seem to have 'Andrioid' in my Devices & Printers. Not really sure why but i'll have a little play around with a few settings and see.
I have confirmed this to fix my "unrecognized" usb device driver issues in the past.
1. Uninstall whatever you can related to previous failed driver installs for the USB device.
2. Shut down the PC
3. UNPLUG THE POWERCORD
4. Unplug your USB device, if not allready unplugged
5. Plug the power cord back in
6. Boot the machine and log back into windows.
7. Let it fully load then reboot again.
This will attempt to give you new IRQ's and DMA's for the usb port.
Now try your driver installation.
i`ve had the same problem
my solution...
settings -> SD card & phone storage -> unmount sd card
remove SD Card and insert the card again...
after that , everything works fine...

This technique has definately fixed the 'unrecognised' problem! Still can't open up my phone as a removable drive in My Computer though, but its a good start! HTC Sync also still can't recognise it. Thanks for help I'm sure this'll help a lot of people with Windows 7.
Install USBDeview (google it) and find any listed driver (with the phone disconnected) related to the words Android, HTC, Dream (you get the picture) and uninstall if you need to remove USB-drivers for the phone. Then you can plug it back in "fresh" and use new drivers.
I am running Win 7 x64 ultimate. I have a AT&T S3. I have tried every port on my laptop. I have updated Kies. I have tried the drivers from here http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I747MBBATT. I can't get the 'Samsung Mobile MTP device' to install correctly. Can anyone help?

If you installed the drivers and restarted your computer, just open Odin and plug phone in while on (NOT DOWNLOAD MODE/ JUST HAVE ODIN OPEN) let computer recognize your phone(Install drivers) then shut down Odin and you should be ready to go
Thanks for the reply. However, this did not work. I should be able to connect to a PC to transfer files but I can't. I have now tried this on two other PC's (another Win 7 ultimate and a Win XP SP3). Watching device manager, it seems like the driver is ok for a minute (i.e. not yellow exclamation mark) and then it pops up. On the XP machine, I just tried to let Windows find the driver (i.e. I didn't dowload it from Samsung) every 30 seconds or so Windows just keeps popping up with the 'found new hardware' message. I am getting error 'code 10' saying the driver can't start. In a virtual machine, I tried another Win XP SP3 in which I did install the Samsung drivers and I got an error saying that the device wasn't found in the INF file. There are alot of subdirectories inside the Samsung USB driver folder, does anyone know which driver should be installed for this? I want to manually try to install it.

I had the same problem as you. Guess what fixed it? Using a different usb port on the same machine. Weird, I know, but it worked for me though I have no idea why that would make a difference
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Been there done that it didn't work. I did a factory reset and it worked on this XP pc I am using at work. I'll try it on Win 7 when I get home. I didn't let google download all my apps this time to try to keep the phone clean. Before I had Launcher Pro (didn't use it though) and ADWLauncher Ex (I did use this one) both of which are home screen launchers. I don't know if something with ADWLauncher messed something up with the USB debug or what. This XP machine was behaving like USB debug wasn't checked when it was. About every 60 seconds it would detect the MTP device but I never could actually browse the phone.
I had the same problem. I switched cables and uninstallEd/ reinstalled the drivers. One of those fixed it for me

I have a Nexus 7 that used to be able to be seen (and trnasfer files) on my Win 7 64-bit Ultimate pc. It is not visible in Explorer now- think it happened after upgrade to 4.2.2
I have tried various ways and means from this site and others but still unsuccessful. My pc kept wanting to install MTP USB drivers everytime I plug the N7 into it even when I have it set as PTP; and the drivers always failed.
I downloaded the Universal naked Drivers and tried to install it as well but problem is that my device only show up as MTP USB (under portable devices) instead of as N7; and under that the drivers is always the failed MTP USB drivers. I cannot browse to install Universal Drivers here cos the pc will not accept it.
Really running out of my wits. Any advises please?
Thanks.
I had initial problems connecting to my pc after installing all the drivers from a toolkit. After searching, I followed a tip and installed pdanet on my phone and pdanet for android on my pc. Now I connect exactly like my phone or other storage with full access to the user storage on the n7 from the pc. Win 7 pro 64bit.
I recently wanted to install windows 10 on my Tablet Samsung Activ Tab 3 - XE300TZC-K01PT through the windows update but in the process I had an error in the windows 8.1 installation process that damaged the boot partition.
I contacted Samsung Portugal to request the recovery disk and until today I am waiting for an answer ...
I decided to search and after a few days I managed to get everything worked.
here is the installation process that worked for me!
1 º We need some things.
1- Micro USB OTG (I made my usb otg)
2- Usb hub
3- Keyboard
4- Mouse
5- usb to ethernet (I used D-Link DUB-1312)
6- USB Pen 16Gb
2º We need to download a specific image of windows 10 (February 2016 Windows 10 HOME / PRO) (heidoc(DOT)net) find (Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool)
3º Make the USB pen boot with rufus(DOT)ie
After the creation of the bootavel pen is completed we need to download and put this on the pen drive :
HD Graphics Driver - downloadcenter(DOT)intel(DOT)com/download/25027/Intel-Iris-Iris-Pro-and-HD-Graphics-Beta-Driver-for-Windows-10
SW Update - [samsung(DOT)com FIND XE300TZC-K01PT ]
Drivers for your network card to USB
On the Samsung Activate tab 3 let's bios (press Power and Volume -) and we need to turn off the secure boot and disable fast boot. do save
We turn off the tablet and we go by the micro usb cable (OTG) + USB HUB + mouse + keyboard + pen of windows 10
We started the power the Samsung activ 3 tab and loaded it several times in the volume - to enter the boot manager
Then we should see our pen drive we created earlier
at this time it is just like a windows 10 installation as on a normal computer.
After installing the PC there are no drivers for the internet card and for this we installed the external network card drivers for USB which mine is the D-Link DUB-1312
We installed the graphics driver - HD Graphics Driver
We installed the Samsung-SW Update drivers and look for our XE300TZC model and downloaded all drivers (1.70Gb)
(DO NOT INSTALL the graphics driver contained in this package)
In the end it is only to do the windows update and install the microsoft office.
Any idea where to get the drivers serperate? I try Windows 8.1 but I have no touch/wifi etc

Hello,
I need just Wireless / Bluetooth device's driver (or just model number's name). SW Update's working or not is depending on the wireless driver. If wireless device doesn't work, so SW Update doesn't work, unfortunatelly. Could you help us on this matter, please? Thanks.
I just downloaded the SW Update on a different PC where I can choose the XE300 and download its drivers, nothing works on windows 10, but at least I have something. You can DM me if you do not succeed to download yourself

Hello, Thanks for your help.
I installed SW Update on another PC as you said. I found the drivers from the model's number. I tried to extract them to the desktop. Wireless LAN Driver is 5,92 MB. But, unfortunatelly it's not extracted to the desktop.
SW UPDATE says "İt's successfully extracted" but it doesn''t extract unfortunatelly.
And also unfortunatelly SW UPDATE doesn't show the Wireless Card's manufacturer's name. But the version number is 3.2.2.3662. If I know the manufacturer's name, I will try to find it on internet. But unfortunatelly it's not shown on SW UPDATE.
I've installed a clean version of windows 10 on my samsung xe300tzc but cant get the touchscreen, wifi, sound and bluetooth to work with many problems showing in device manager. I used the threads in the previous comments but they appear to be dead or of not use. Please can anyone advise where can I get these drivers.
