Correct root process? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm wanting to root my wife's S5 that is currently on MI2. I just want to check if I understand the correct order for the process:
Odin NCG kernel
Make it rain
Odin NI2 kernel
SuperSu
Busybox
Safestrap

Installing Custom Roms on NC4

I currently have a verizon note 3 sm-n900v andriod 4.42 baseband nc4 kernal 3.4 build nc4 and I have tried ever way possible to install a custom rom that has the bloatware removed. I have installed towelroot, installed safestrap many different versions with no luck. I have tried using the stock rom slot and get the error unable to mount system, good thing i created a backup which was able to be put back onto slot 1 and then rebooted and reinstalled back to factory with odin. My question is...is there a walkthru on exactly on doing the custom roms for nc4. The newest version 3.75 of safestrap doesnt seem to work with nc4 well either. Could someone tell me what versions of the kernals, and safestrap i should use so that i wont trip knox or brick the unit.
Install root done
Install busybox done
what should be next
install safestrap ..? What version for nc4
install a nc2 kernal...what one
I read the nc4/nc2 baseband kernal combo rom...and it says that it need the most current version of safestrap but you cant flash the stock rom on nc4 to get to that point...any help or walkthroughs would be very koool....IM SO TIRED OF VERIZON BLOAT WARE...
another thing is there a way to go back to a different modem driver...the baseband nc4 screwd the signals

Safestrap is it. Most custom roms work better in the stock slot. Safestrap-HLTEVZW-NC2-3.75-B04.apk is the latest and maybe last version as Hashcode has gotten a gig and won't be supporting it but maybe an heir will rise.
If you just want root and debloat, you can also check this out and see if helps you :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2728533

Yah but nc2 3.75 wont run right on nc4. It doesnt let you write the system. Do you have to flash the kernal to nc2 prior to installing the 3.75. Because in the write up it says to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787627
Coming From Stock NC4 OTA
Step- 1 - Root Device with TowelRoot Here
Step- 2 - Install Busybox from play store and install busybox itself
Step- 3 - Install Hashcodes Latest Safestrap Here
Step- 4 - Boot into Safestrap Select Stock Slot
Step- 5 - Wipe Data Factory Reset The Stock Slot
Step- 6 - Flash nc4 deodex rom to the stock slot
Step- 7 - Reboot into Download mode From Safestrap
Step- 8 - Flash NC2 Kernel Package Here
Step- 9 - You will Boot into a Stock Deodex rom with Root, Busybox, Init.d, Selinux Permissive, Insecure Modules!!
my issue is that if i have nc4 baseband do i put on nc2 kernal before or after safestrap...and do you use odin to flash it or safestrap in download mode?
Thank so much for responding im reading those links as well )

Okay, we'll have to figure out what the problem might be because there are tons of people on NC4 running that version of safestrap. It's definately not that version of safestrap, let me look and see what I can find.
Just to make sure you're on B04 and not B03?

Did you flash the NC2 kernel in Odin with your phone in download mode? Most roms won't boot without it.
Edit: Is this the error you're getting? .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54089616&postcount=1502
Okay let's see if we can get you booted and try to figure out that stock slot as once you get running most roms run better in the stock slot.

It was fixed in safestrap b04 that's why I'm asking if you have that version and not b03.

That was my question
Do i have to run the nc2 kernal on the nc4 baseband...and do i flash the nc2 kernal before or after I install root busybox safestrap install rom.
I had never installed nc2...so nc2 kernal is required and nc4 kernal will not work..? Or will nc4 work if i use b04. and just to rehash you can install nc2 kernal on a nc4 baseband correct? Also if I do either of those...am i still stuck with the nc4 modem that has the horrible signal or is there a way to fix that with a different modem.
Sorry im kind of all over the place...i really appreciate your help
I have installed
Stock nc4
Root
Busybox
safestrapb04
It boots to the custom where i can choose the slots or stock rom
I have not installed nc2 kernal via download mode yet...does that need to be done before i install a rom?
Sorry i tried to clean up the post so im not jumping all around.

Flash the kernel after the rom is flashed. In safestrap after flashing rom reboot to download mode and flash the the NC2 kernel. It'll work with every rom except Jamine 2.3 I believe.
If the NC4 modem is bad for you can flash a different modem in Odin, just make sure you phone is in download mode again : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47400062&postcount=1

Ok so thats my issue...it wont let me install the Rom in either slots or stock...in the stock slot is says failed...and in slot 1 it says success but then goes to a blank screen upon reboot...I guess i will install on slot 1 and then go to download mode and install the nc2 kernal. Does it matter what modem i choose...can i choose the nc2 modem running the nc2 firmaware on a nc4 bootloader? Also if i have a stock/ota nc4 baseband/bootloader does it matter if i choose retail or odin modems

You can run whatever modem, it all depend on your location. I'm on NC2 leak with the NC4 modem as for me NC2 was terrible. Some people are on NC4 with the MJE modem. I wouldn't just jump from modem to modem. Give it at least a day of use before you decide to change. But most people are running MJE, NC2 or NC4.

If you took the NC4 ota you can only use the NC4 tar to return your phone to stock. Those who took the NC2 leak and actually downgrade all the way back to 4.3 Jellybean for return purposes.
The modems are from lowest to highest. When it comes to the modems I'd only use MJE - The last jellybean modem, NC2 - the leak modem, NC4 modem the most current.

[Q] stuck in boot loop installing updates

Ok so I did a idiotic thing... Did towel root on stock 4.4.2 G900VVRU1ANCG then before installing supersu or anything accidentally ran OTA (G900VVRU1ANE9)
Now phone keeps looping and installing updates...
It tries to boot normally then says booting recovery at top then starts installing updates again...
What to do now?

boot into download mode and reflash NCG. if that doesn't work because of the partially installed NE9 try flashing NE9 in Odin
Will I think I have it somewhat fixed... Just downloaded stock NCG and then extracted the system.img.ext4 and followed the guide from skipsoft using their toolkit to make the system.img.ext4 odin flashable.
Flashed only the NCG system.img back to phone and that worked.
Now phone is operational and all apps etc still there but I have build and kernel NCG but baseband is NE9
So now if I root on build NCG then try to OTA to NE9 how do I avoid boot loop this time? Will Supersu allow me to OTA and is there a method to keep root? ( I know how to flash the kernels and re-root --- I'd like to just keep root if possible.)

flash the full NE9 in Odin, then flash the NCG kernel, root, then flash the NE9 kernel.

lmao.. you did all that for no reason.. all the odin roms, kernels and modems are all available already..
You flashed ne9 kernel/rom so you need to flash ne9 modem/baseband..
For future reference, its easier to start on ncg root install ss.. then flash rom.zip of choice and flash the odin firmware for it.. its real easy and u can go from ncg to nk for example without worrying about an ota

[Q] coming from s4...little confused, some root questions

im on 4.4.4 NK2. from what I gather, best way to go is root from what im on now and not take the lollipop update. just want to make sure that is correct and that this is correct way....
1. Flash The NCG stock kernel via Odin
2. Reboot & Root using Towelroot
3. Install SuperSU, open the app and allow it to update binaries normally
4. Flash NK2 kernel via ODIN
after that, is the newest lollipop update worth taking? i heard there was problems.
also, i see that there is FlashFire beta....i know its basically mobile odin....is safestarp still necessary to flash roms or can i flash them via FlashFire?
thanks in advance!

Looks like you have it right. If your phone is new to you you might consider flashing the full wipe NGC tar file and starting from scratch. Good way to get rid of any junk that might be on your phone.
You can flash with flashfire and go up and down and keep root easily and without using odin. In my opinion, it's still good to have safestrap. It is the only recovery available to you. I still run 4.4.4 on my S5 though I haven't tried the very latest lollipop that came out. I'm fine running RicksRom.

[Q] G900V Do I have to downgrade from BOC4 to KK in order to root?

Got a a new Verizon GS5 and it is running BOC4 stock. I would like to root and haven't taken any OTA's. Do I have to downgrade to NCG in order to root or can I just root from BOC4 with towelroot and install SuperSU? Thanks in advance
You have to downgrade to NCG
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
The Easy Way.....
Step 1) Download the NCG KK stock rom for the SM-G900V here
Step 2) Unzip it and load the tar.md5 file into Odin via the 'AP' button.
Step 3) Put the phone into download mode and flash the stock rom.
Step 4) Place View attachment 3453830 in phone's internal memory, install, and click "make it rain". (shoutout to @geohot for galaxy s5 [and more] root achievment!!)
Step 5) Update the SuperSu Binaries and you should be good to go. From there you can install Busybox and then View attachment 3453833.

xposed install failed

I'm on the ok2 bootloader and i tried to install xposed but it ended up failing and i got an error message how can i fix it
Are you rooted? If not flash the NB1 kernel in odin and then root with the towel root app. Then flash back to the OK2 kernel.
