transfer my memory (hardware) across - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i hope someone will be able to help me here...=(
I had this red light of death for awhile now and i couldn't turn on my phone at all, i've tried all possible methods that i could find online, such as pressing power + volumn down, unplugging the usb cable, cracking open the case and unplug the battery cable, replacing with a battery i bought from ebay, replacing my friend's nexus 4 battery, none of these have worked.
but i really want to turn on my phone and get my photos and stuff out! so i bought a screen cracked nexus 4, and i tore that apart, tried using its battery, and it's daughter board (the part that holds the usb port) on my nexus, but it didn't work. i hope the problem doesn't reside on the main motherboard, because otherwise im not sure if i could get my stuff out. is there any other possible way where i can make use of the screen cracked nexus 4, and turn on my nexus? perhaps use any parts or anything?
any help would be much appreciated! thanks!!

if mainboard of 1st nexus is dead, but has good emmc chip (where your stuff is stored), then possible you can swap emmc from dead n4 to cracked n4 mainboard, but that's not easy job and you need right equipment for bga chips soldering to do that ...

youtube -> emmc chip replacement
but if you're asking for tutorial, please don't try that yourself - 99% you will have 2 dead n4 ...

anyone seen charger ports for sale

hi
my son has wrecked my charger port and it will not charge my nexus
i would rma it but I've flashed a custom rom
any advice is grateful
google?
tried just came up with problems nothing about selling them.
if i remember correctly the easiest way would be to replace the entire micro usb board in your 7... assuming there's not too many retailers for nexus 7 tablet parts you would be better off buying a broken one off of ebay and swapping out.. OR depending on the severity of how bad it's broken strip apart one of your old devices you'll probably never use anymore & make friends with a soldering gun / iron

i was hoping it would be a quick swap over like my sgs2
its a separate pcb connected to the main board via a ribbon cable.
I've not looked into swapping it just need to see it i can source the part first.
might have to un solder the part and like you say take it off a old phone or something. problem is im not the best at soldering ha

Nexus 4 Solid Red Light, Not Working, Dead (Bad Chip?)

Bad week this is. First my old Galaxy S3's USB port fails when I give it to my dad (no data, otherwise charges), now my brother's 2 year old Nexus 4 dies.
I did all the troubleshooting and found the fixes involving the battery contacts and removal, the emergency reset procedures using the hardware keys, and the battery itself. No fix.
Battery is good, tests 3.75V, and won't charge anymore after leaving on different chargers. Disassembled whole phone and cleaned and checked all parts
Phone has been overheating for a while now as I was told, my brother is very lazy and never did anything about it, he told me his back screen even cracked from intense heat(Hard to Believe)
Now that it's dead, I noticed that the battery was cold, but the phone was well hot when on charger. After testing I found the Power Management chip to be heating up way to much and only 1.8V
going to battery at charge pins. Part is by Qualcomm, PM8921 and is used on other phones like my Galaxy S3. Seems this is the defective component causing all this. Look at left chip in picture.
Problem is desoldering and soldering is a job Santa's little helpers or a bot. This is damn near impossible to do by a human, especially by me. Found chips on ebay and alibaba which range from
$2 ea. bulk to about $8 individually. Wonder what now... anyone else think it may be something else? Throw away? Find professional to solder in?

Here's a question

So long story short phone had been run over on gravel parking lot. Plugged it in saw red notification dot thought good will buy new digitizer front screen and housing because motherboard looked OK after inspecting
Get every thing put in. Plug in red light flash as charging screen turns on. Yay phone is already super hot for just being plugged in 5 min. Any way boot phone...... Its stuck at Google think OK soft brick reflash..... Did this 10 times now no luck still at Google tried booting into recovery stuck at Google logo. Only thing I can do is get into bootloader.
Did something actually come loose on board but not the section of the bootloader.
You let me know interested in hearing
Any way bought new mother board and battery just in case
Sounds like the board might of been damaged. Sounds like the memory could be damaged.
Might have to buy another device
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Yeah thats why i bought a new motherboard from a site and a battery

Replace internal Charger Port Cable?

This phone did, intermittently, work. But it also behaved as though there was a short somewhere in the system. Now it will not power on, and I am making a leap of logic and assuming that's because it cannot charge the battery. (I've tried every single suggestion here re powering it back on, so let's move past that option.)
I note that on ebay and elsewhere there are internal charger port cables (3rd party unfortunately) that are inexpensive (as low as four or five dollars, or eight dollars for one with a small tools set). Has anyone ever used one of those third party internal charger port replacements and had success?
Thanks in advance.
Okay, I have gone ahead and ordered one of the internal USB ribbon assemblies for my OnePlus 2. But I haven't seen anyone else discuss having actually done a change-out of this part. Isn't there any hardy soul armed with spudger and screw driver who's attempted this?

If you don't mind me asking, did the phone work at all right before the replacement? Mine is a dead as a doornail, which is why I wonder. The fix does look to be easy (I watched some videos and even removed the old one, so the new install is all ready to go).

Well, we shall see if that solves my completely non-functioning phone issues or not. Perhaps this thing is just dead. My ebay seller is behind schedule as far as delivery goes, but again I will post here whatever the outcome once I do replace the usb port and ribbon.
I did promise to post a video of my install. I do not know if this worked yet (charging a newer battery; if that doesn't work I'll go back to the old battery and try again). But here is the video, which I ended up sorta having fun doing.

Well, I'm marking this down as a fail. The install was easy, but the phone remains dead, dead, dead. Not a whiff of life to it. The short, if it is a short as I suspect, may be in either the motherboard or daughterboard. So, not being one easily driven off by failure, I bought a working but very bent up OP2 off ebay for 70 bucks. The idea being to take its innards out and put them into the frame (and the I think working screen) of the one I have. I'll look either brilliant or the fool (I play the second one better). I will, as usual, report back.
So... said I'd follow up on the $70 ebay phone buy (the phone very bent up but somehow still working). I did get it, tested it (it did work but screen was under obvious pressure due to bend), then removed the motherboard, usb ribbon cable, and daughterboard from it and moved them into the non-working phone I was given by a friend. And it worked!! I now have a OnePlus 2 phone which is updating the rom at this moment. I'll probably root it and put a custom rom on later, but for now I just wanna see what the phone is like with the standard setup. Anyway.... it was fun to take a phone apart (2 phones, actually) and succeed at the end.

Motherboard cpu socket

I had a gigabyte h61 motherboard which got damaged when I was playing rage 2..
While playing my PC started stucking in frames for no reason and then suddenly a bsod came.. After that my PC booted into recovery coz C drive was converted to RAW format ... However I repaired C drive with chkdsk , booted windows and everything was working fine, and then turned PC off..
After some time I again booted my PC but this time, PC turned on ,fans ran but suddenly turned off and again itself turned on and off... This cycle continued and I manually turned off PC , removed motherboard and checked the CPU...
While inserting CPU ,it fell from my hand to the CPU socket in motherboard and a huge amount of pins were bent..
I took it to repair center and they said it will cost me as buying a new motherboard due to CPU soc broken
I bought a new motherboard but not satisfied with it coz the secure boot option is missing..
I want to repair old motherboard so I need to get a new CPU soc..
Plz anyone tell where to buy h61 lga1155 CPU socket for cheap online in India..
EDIT:: Some pins are bent, some pins missing
Bent pins can be repaired but can missing pins be??
Unless you or someone has a lot of experience using a hot air station, I wouldn't try this. Those multilayered pcbs are easy to damage and many times impossible to repair if damaged.
Gigabyte might attempt to repair it.

The original cost is varing from $1-4 but shipping charge is $70..
Much expensive
You may end up having to replace the mobo anyway. Internal traces may have been damaged... or will be.
