[Q] broken N4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

phone got wiped, os and all. can only get into team win recovery (no android with !). in recovery file manager there is NOTHING on the phone. can not get phone to be recognized by computer. used sdk to install drivers still nothing. can not activate usb debugging as there is no os. reboot in recovery gives warning no os on phone. there is nothing to restore, all folders in install tab are completely empty. is there anyway to save my phone? there is nothing on it...just enough for safe mode and recovery.

You need to get the computer to recognize your device. When booted into recovery and the device connected to your pc go to device manager and see what the issue is.

got drivers installed sees the device as "android bootloader interface...a link to what to do from this point would work or step by step instruction on how to get os on phone would be great.

You've got two options
1. Flash the factory image.with fastboot. You'll then have to re-install twrp amrd root
2. Push a rom onto your device using adb in recovery. Then flash that in twrp

Simplest way is to download the factory image. Google nexus factory image. It's a .tgz file. Extract it using 7-zip. There's a flash-all.bat file in there. Boot into the bootloader and with your device connected to the pc just double click the flash-all.bat. It will wipe your device so if you can, backup first.

[Problem] Nexus 7 Softbrick

So, i've got the Nexus 7 32g Version, unlocked and rooted. So today i tried to install a new rom to my Gnex.
But stupidly i forgot to push the rom files to the nexus, and uninstaled the current ROM.
When I boot to TWRP i'm not able to mount the "sdcard", and so i can't push files into the nexus.
But the main problem is that I've got a new PC, without the drivers, i can't go into Fastboot, and i can't install the drivers, since I can't go to the USB Debugging Options.
What can I Do?
Thanks

Load the drivers from the internet and set up adb from the internet drivers. Then set your nexus in fast boot mode and plug it in. That should download the fast boot driver. Worst case tarp has a side load mode. Side load your ROM and then after it automatically flashes you'll prolly have to wipe and flash again so it'll flash properly. Then boot up your ROM. You may have to add gaapps and boot back to recovery and flash but you'll be good to go after that

Superwipe script wiped everything. HELP

Ok. I used a super wipe script. Now my device has nothing but the boot loader and twrp is still installed. I was on the new ota 4.2.2. I also have 4.18 boot loader. I have no os and all of my backups are gone so I can't restore anything. How can I install this from a computer and push it to my device? I really need help. I'm not brand new. But I've never been in this situation. Thanks to anyone who can help make my device operable again.

If TWRP is installed and you can boot in TWRP, try to mount the usb and copy the backup to the device. I'm not sure, but you could use adb push in the recovery, too
Otherwise just boot into bootloader, flash the stock rom, boot, root, copy the backup on the sdcard, flash TWRP, restore it

I thought you had a backup on your PC, if not you will loose all your data
Do it like the guy above said, or just download the stock image (for your device) from here, extract everything and just run the flash-all.bat (if you are on windows). This will flash the stock rom so you should be able to boot your device again

It seems like for me downloading the stock image and running the flash all bat would be the best solution for my level of experience. I just don't know what you mean by running the flash all bat. Do I need sdk or something to do that? I need the most simple solution possible with my level of experience. But thanks a million.

No need to install anything! Just download the package for your device and extract it. Now open the archive and there is a file called flash-all.bat.
Now you hold power and volume down on your nexus 7 to get into fasboot mode (the bootloader). If you are there, plug the nexus via usb in your pc.
Now just double click the flash-all.bat and it will flash the stock rom
If this won't work, because windows can't detect the device, download the Nexus 7 Toolkit, install it and open it. There's an option to install the drivers

See the link I posted earlier, there you can find the 4.2.2 image for the nexus 7 wifi only (grouper/nakasi)
I'm on phone right now so I can't post the link, just search for nexus 7 toolkit on Google, or see the general/development section. It should be pinned there

Nexus 4 No OS Installed TWRP

Guys I need your help.
I have Nexus 4 16GB pre owned. Bought it with Cyanogenmod 10.2 installed already and rooted. Then CM11 nightlies came and I installed it OTA but it seems that it has a lot of bugs so I rolled back to CM10. When I rolled back and rebooted, it does not come up (Google and Cyanogenmod logo only). I rebooted it to bootload mode, then recovery (TWRP) and accidentally wiped out everything including ROM/OS. I don't have that much knowledge in restoring my phone. I tried connecting it to PC (WinXP) and it does not recognize the device. Tried everything posted in different forums on how to connect my device to PC but to no avail. Cannot do USB debugging thing 'cause I can only utilize device's recovery mode (TWRP). I'm thinking now on having this device repaired by cellphone repair shop just to install OS.Anyone can help? Other forums look like too technical for me. Noob here, really.
Hi I've just had a quick look, try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
It mentions about installing drivers and says the USB Debugging ones are not required.

Boot up holding vol down so you are at the android part.
Then attached your phone to your PC and use adb push to push a custom rom or download your source image from google.
Grab the google factory image here https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-krt16s-factory-2006f418.tgz

adb push /donwload folder/name of the zip /sdcard/Download

Bricked Nexus 7

Hey guys,
a few hours ago I tried flashing the new Ldroid Rom onto my Nexus 7. After flashing the rom my tablet took ages to boot up and after the bootup it said i had to enter a password to encrypt the data (i never set encryption). after entering a random password android reported that the password was right but the data corrupt and i'd have to do a factory reset. after entering twrp i realized that the device couldn't mount anything except system. i wiped/formated everything except system and tried booting into android. this time i was stuck at the google logo. after entering recovery mode again now twrp couldn't mount system and sdcard. so i formated both and now i'm here with an absolutely empty nexus 7. i tried to use adb sideload to flash a new rom but my pc doesn't recognize the device and neither does fastboot. i tried reinstalling adb and fastboot drivers, i used universal drivers, i used drivers from toolkits, i did many many pc and tablet restarts, i reinstalled android sdk several times, i used different adb/fastboot locations, i even tried using a different pc trying the same steps. no change, only thing i get is that the tablet gets recognized by the device manager as an adb/fastboot device, nothing more.
Does anyone of you know a possible sollution for my issue?
Thanks in advance
P.S.: i've been researching the internet for this issue for the past hours and couldn't find any sollutions, so please don't say stuff like "use search function"
P.P.S.: My other devices get recognized without any issues with the same cable.
I would suggest using wugs awesome software you need to make sure all partitions are wiped and repaired to which ever format you are trying to use ext4 or f2fs and through wugs you can flash new ROM through fastboot wigs has save my ass a few times one should not try to do tedious tasks after a long night of drinking hope this helps let me know if ya need more

Flashed wrong stock recovery

Bonehead move I know. Now I need some help to fix. I flashed a stock 5.0 ROM and everything was working fine. Got the 5.0.1 prompt so I flashed a stock recovery (4.4.4 hence my problem). Of course the update wouldn't flash. Now to complicate things all of a sudden my PC won't detect my Nexus 4. It detects my wife's Nexus 4 fine so I'm thinking not a cable or driver problem. Ive tried multiple cables and reinstalled drivers with no luck. So now I need to root and or install custom recovery without a PC. Any ideas?

It doesn't show anything. Its as if it isn't connected at all. I've tried from the bootloader and recovery screens and also rebooted both phone and pc. Still shows nothing in device manager. Phone shows charging but no mtp notification or anything that it is connected. As soon as I plug our other nexus 4 in the pc recognizes it immediately.

To root your device use towelroot from your device. Although I don't know what you're going to do with root. Also, can you get the device detected by your pc when you're booted into recovery or the device?

Towelroot wouldn't work. Says device isn't supported. Maybe it will get updated to work on lollipop. If I could obtain root I can flash custom recovery and start with a fresh install. Just have to find a way to do it with an app
