Is there a way to set up my phone to disconnect from wi-fi when the signal is weak instead of non-existent? When I get out in my yard my phone still picks up the wi-fi signal from my router but the connection is so weak that I get data connection errors. I'd like to set a minimum -db so that unless there is a strong connection it'll switch to 3g.
set your router
You can try to add an AP so that you can get strengthened siginal at you yard...
Hi,
I have a strange issue with my sgh-i337m. I am currently in India. The issue is with wifi. Here is the issue.
1. I can see all the AP's like other mobiles. I can connect to them and access internet only when the signal strength is full.
If the signal strength comes to fair, the wifi is still connected but i cannot access the internet. If i switch wifi off and then on, i can see the wifi AP with 2bars out of 4, but not able to connect. It shows Saved Secured.
Please help
My WiFi connection does not reach to my whole house, so we had an extender installed with Bright House. The problem is, my phone will switch to one of the connections either randomly, or when I am out of range, so if I walk to one side of the house where the router doesn't reach, it will switch over to the extender, which by the way, is still the same network, so it does it automatically. The problem with this is if I go back to my computer, which is next to the router, it will stay on the extender's connection, so I will have two bars, and when I refresh it is full, because it recognizes I am right next to the router. It's not a deal breaker or anything, and the problem isn't specific to this phone, but it's a big inconvenience.
Hello to all! Mine is a XT1581. When connected to 5Ghz wifi, the device gets access to Internet for only seconds to miniutes, then automatically disconnects wifi, and after a while, it re-connects and drops wifi again, hence the loop.
A tricky part is that, if I manually lower the 5Ghz link speed on my router, say limited to 130Mbps or 173Mbps, the phone connects to wifi and works fine. Once the link speed is up to 300Mbps or even 866Mbps on a AC router, the problem can be easily reproduced.
any help? thanks in advance!
I'm trying to figure out a wifi roaming issue I've noticed that the OnePlus 5 seems to have some issue when roaming from AP with an SSID to another AP with the same SSID.
What happens is I see the roam occur (the wifi icon goes from low signal to full signal and with wifi analyzer it shows it's migrated to the new AP) but then the phone seems to get stuck and is unable to send / recieve data.
A quick tap on / off of airplane mode immediately resolves this issue but I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this and has figured out which settings on their router the phone doesn't seem to like?
I have other devices on the network and they don't seem to have this roaming issue so it does seem like it's isolated to this phone.
The issue seems to occur most often when roaming from the DDWRT Netgear WNDR4300 (Atheros platform) to the TPLink c20i (AC router on a Realtek platform)
Same problem here. Asus router and asus extender.
Yes, me too. I have a Virgin router downstairs and TP link extender upstairs. When I go upstairs I have to touch off the wifi on my phone for a second and it will then connect.
A bit annoying but generally speaking I am very happy with the phone.
