Do you mean import your contacts to your device?
Hi,
Yes. When I go into the call function, there is no Google account for me to chose for importing and syncing my contact.
It seems to me,you must install all Google service package because It doesnt work in china(network).so they uninstall all Google service package.
First: you must download the package.
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1o6JoIT0
then you rename it in English.
Second: put them on your SD card.
Third: power off your phone, and then enter Recovery Mode(volume up+home+power key)
Fourth: select the ZIP file that you renamed It.
OK,PLZ waiting for install them!
Hope that will help you

Not what I did.
I did the CF-Auto root through ODIN,
then I did the recovery through ODIN (mine is the N9108v)
then flashed the GAPPS 4.4.* through that recovery.

Any suggestions on where I should begin?

how can i solve this prob ? is by root ? or by installing international firmware ? thanks
by posting in Q&A section ... the play store should be a part of the firmware by Samsung unless someone banned that.

ROOTING method worked well for me, i followed the instructions of Cofface however I recall there was a trick:
You flash the new recovery .tar in ODIN and when it displays PASSED, remove the battery otherwise it will reboot and erase the modification.
Then you start up your S4 and enter the recovery mode (Volume up + Home key + Power key). It will be CWM and you can select ROOT YOUR PHONE.
Voila!
Regarding Google Play (no Google stuff are in the China stock ROM!!), after I rooted the phone I installed Root Explorer, downloaded the Google apk packages and pushed them into /system/app/ using Root Explorer. That's it, after reboot it will ask for your Gmail account and Play Store will work.
instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=31236432
Only concern for me: in Contacts, I'm not able to see the Google account so that all my Gmail contacts are synced in. Still looking for a solution to fix this.
Note: i didn't have to flash another ROM, I kept the one that comes with China Unicom (I9500ZCUAMDF)

Try this:
Root ,
and
copy <<data/app/com.android.vending-1.apk>> to <<system/app>> and rename to "Vending.apk",then restart your device.
Are you sure you got a legit s4? I know there are already clones in existence.

Nope. The paranoid junta that runs the place are deathly afraid of ideas, and by extension, truth. They missed the lesson about sticks and stones breaking bones, but words never hurting I guess. I'm curious if the Play Store, and all goog services are firewalled after you get it installed?
Can you explain to me how to root and send google apk packages?

Most people are reporting that LiDroid is successful, I can confirm that it works well. I have occasionally encountered errors when installing apps from Play but they are not common or consistent. Note that when installing LiDroid the user may choose English for the language, but beware that the later Customer Service Customization menu selects the data network, thus if you live in China you should choose CHIN and not ENG at this menu. This second menu has no effect on the phones default language.

You don't have to use the Baidu downloader, just press the GREY button BOTH times. =D
As far as how to flash, it's just like any other ROM. FYI, Shohat said he is working on making his version support the 6V so keep an eye out.

It is still working.
The first dialogue box, with a space to enter text, is for the password, though if you enter it once you won't have to subsequent times you visit the page.
If you're not in China, Baidu loads super slow. If it's too slow to download the 1GB file then you'll just have to wait for Shohat's rom next week. Should be better anyways. =D

Your question makes me think you might want to read a bit on what ROM is (don't worry, I don't reallly know either, but we can always learn more), but ultimately yes, this ROM contains some of the Google services not included in the China Unicom version.
Please be careful and understand that this a temporary fix, this ROM is a bit buggy. Keep an eye out for other XDA roms that will work for 9006V models. You will certainly want to flash something new later.
Nice job of putting it all together in one shot. Still haven't quite done it on my phone, but will be doing it soon. Maybe I'll wait for a ROM until the one you mention by Shohat comes along. Really would like if we could get some english developer love too. I know there are things available in chinese, those alone should have like 90% of the work done for those wanting to do a version for english.

I used this post:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7340315-1-1.html
BUT:
I think that the only thing that really helped me was having the drivers, which I got through the long way, by installing 豌豆荚 on my computer and it automatically installed drivers. Windows couldn't find them. I've seen the drivers on that forum listed above, so if you don't want to install that app (it is kinda annoying, but helps sideload APKs).
One other thing to note:
I also got really thrown off by one part of the above instructions, to enter CWM after you flash it with Odin you need to press Vol+ + Home + Power, not volume down.

Ok.... for english speakers....
Once you are in CWM recovery after yanking the battery last second and loading recovery on the next boot cycle (or you have to do it all again)... You will be presented with options... crazy options... select the first one, then select the second option (it says some english about install-recovery.sh). This will disable the recovery script that keeps writing samsung's recovery over your fresh CWM. Then I chose the 2nd option again after that, thinking it meant something about rooting the phone. Not sure, but the phone rebooted and everything was fine. CWM still intact.
After that, I installed supersu as linked on the chinese website shown previously. you can see english for ZIP and from there see ext.storage or internal, just point to were you downloaded it and click through to install.
I downloaded a copy of gapps for 4.4.2 and did the same thing as I did for supersu and BAM.... now I have google play and it's working.... Finally the phone i was wanting it to be, at least until a fully english rom becomes available.

I must be missing something here. I finally downloaded this file from the second link, which is called 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip'.
I ran Odin v.3.09 to flash this ROM (just like any other ROM), and obviously it doesn't recognise this file, as it's a zip file. So I extracted it to a folder. However, all I get is a lot of folders such as 'data', 'META-INF', 'system', 'tmp', 'tools' and two files 'check_data_app' and 'romconfig.xml'.
Odin also doesn't recognise this, as it's looking for .tar or .md5 or .smd or .gz or .tgz file extensions.
I've tried renaming the original zip file to .tar.md5 but this doesn't work either.
Could you please explain further, or even step-by-step exactly how you are supposed to flash this ROM? What software do I actually need to flash it?

ROMs are .zip and installed via Recovery. You can use ODIN to put recovery on your phone. Clockwork Recovery Mod (CWM), TWRP are both recoveries.
Once recovery is on your phone you can enter it using the volume+ / power / home keys.
If you're still unclear on this process just look at any of the roms in the dev sections, they all include a short how to for installing a rom from recovery.
Thanks ddxv, and sorry for being stupid - all my previous phones I simply flashed from within Windows using ODIN.
So step-by-step guide should be as below?
1. Download Clockwork Recovery Mod (CWM)
2. Download ODIN 3.09
3. Download 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip' from your second link
4. Copy 'Samsung_S5_G9006V.zip' to a MicroSD card and place into phone.
5. Reboot phone into Download Mode
6. Start ODIN
7. Click on 'AP' (was 'PDA') and find CWM recovery file
8. click Start
9. Once finished, the 'Pass' message will be displayed.
10. Reboot into recovery mode
11. Choose Wipe Data/factory rest
12. Select install zip from SD card
13. Flash phone
14. Reboot

My VyprVPNs connect but there isn't really any data sent afterwards. My StrongVPN account works occasionally. Neither are as good as on the computer. Make sure you're using PPTP, StrongVPN recommends unchecking the encryption as it's 'buggy' or something.
Also, Liantong/China Unicom in Beijing seems to constantly change connections, which naturally disconnects the VPN.

Yeah, the original rom this is based on was an older / original version of Shohat's rom.
There are now dozens of roms on the chinese sites, no doubt a fairshare are from xda, but probably less buggy than the one you chose

Can someone advise which firmware version this works with? I can't get it to work, it continues to brick. For what it's worth, I have rooted with Chainfire on OK6, but I have not been able to replace the boot loader with any of the TWRP or PHILZ recovery. And I still cannot get Google Play Services working properly - it has been sporadic, and sometimes the new play store will work, though other apps that rely on play services won't work at all (like Google Photos or even HBO Go).
I'm about to try updating to PB1 and doing Chainfire again...

Thanks - I think this is the last version that works with TWRP. I ended up having to un-tar the K6 firmware recovery re-tar and flash that by itself, then had to do a full wipe and flash the K6 back again. That at least has me to the original starting point, and I can use CF-Auto-Root to root and then try to install GAPPS. I had edited many of the CSC files and further deleted apps and files from the system and subfolders, which got me very close to running seamlessly, and then this... Luckily I backed up those edited files to use again.
I may try working with J9 so that I can use TWRP though - are there significant differences from J9 to K6?

Thanks - I think this is the last version that works with TWRP. I ended up having to un-tar the K6 firmware recovery re-tar and flash that by itself, then had to do a full wipe and flash the K6 back again. That at least has me to the original starting point, and I can use CF-Auto-Root to root and then try to install GAPPS. Thanks - I downloaded the firmware file, can you tell me which Philz version you're using? The one I've found is the arter97-recovery-g928fcig-11.0-philz_touch_6.59.0.tar.md5 version. I also have g9280_root_5.1.1.tar file, arter97-kernel-g928fcig-3.6, 6.0 and 11.0 versions, and boot.img and recovery.img files of unknown origin (perhaps from the JuanC/mega file package?). I *think* that boot.img is the kernel file referenced in post #15 and the recovery.img file is the philz bootloader referenced. I have so many Gapps zips at this point I'm not sure which came with JuanC's package. I've also seen folks drop the three Google files into priv-apps, change the permissions, wipe dalvik and reboot. But so far I haven't been able to get any to run Google services without problems (usually the recurring "Google play services has stopped" failures).
Hey guys, im JuanC who actually posted the steps at #15 to root the G9280.
After a lot of people asked the same, please note that those steps only work for me with the OJ9 software, ive tried with OK6 and APB1 but none of those seem to work properly. Im still looking for the root file for the newest sofwares but sadly i coulnt find any by now. Ive got that root file from a chinese page, it is hard cause needed to translate every single post, so im doing the same almost once at week with any result.
Once i get a new one, i will let you all know it.

Android 6.0.1
Were you able to get this working with Android 6.0.1?
I installed the 6.0.1 firmware, then rooted with Odin. Then I installed TWRP, loaded the GAPP files from your post #15 onto the phone and then installed it via TWRP.
This worked for a view minutes, then Google Play service starts crashing.
Did you have any luck?

真的不行就把kernel换了

Very same thing here, Vodafone brand P9 Lite, flashed with latest 161 no brand official firmware, and no way to access Google account, the page where I should insert username and password simply goes away just after a while; same thing for any possible "point of access": play store, maps, mail, new G Account, ...
Then, I also tried to restore factory defaults, reflash same firmware, flash Vodafone firmware (operation refused by the phone)... any idea? I also tried to install the latest Play services apk from apkmirror, no way.
did you guys find a solution to your problem? i think i'm on the same boat ;/ (stuck on initial setup)
Try to open up wifi, mine was like that to but when connected to wifi it will load directly to home screen
Found a solution
I found the problem, Android System webview is missing from the rom. I went to a huawei center and they menaged to skip the setup. Google apps still didn't work until I manually installed the apk from apkmirror (arm + x86 package)

To get tips, make a long tap on the input field
To download the firmware, you first need to find it, then you need to click the "view" button and click on the link below.
After installation, you can get the root and delete the Chinese applications by script, for this you need to click the ". . ."

SuperSU not support nougat(7.0).
You must now enter the recovery mode (volume + and power), connect the phone to the computer by usb, a disk will appear, copy the firmware and flash the phone.
On android 7+ you can not use supersu

Is there another app like this to use because I want to use a file explorer like es file and give root permitions.
Is there a chance to unlock bootloader?
Can I use a custom recovery like twrp
