Since I updated to Lollipop, my phone keeps underlining everything I type. I have uninstalled all dictionary related things on my phone and I've disabled the spell checker on the keyboard app. Does anyone know what I have to do to get rid of those red underlines?
Did you disable it?? I just upgraded to lollipop (g900h) and noticed this. It's really annoying because I use my phone in english but I write in spanish mostly, so I guess my phone thinks I'm misspelling words. It's not keyboard related, as it happens with any keyboard, seems like an OS feature but can't find the option to disable it.

If you are using the stock Samsung keyboard turn off predictive text.
No, I'm using swype. Still, no matter what keyboard I use, the red underline appears whenever you write a word that is not in the phone main language. In my case, my phone is in English but I write a lot in spanish. So spanish words get underlined. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for suggestion popup if you tap one of these underlined words.... So it's difficult if you want to quickly swype another misspelled word you typed earlier
This seems to be "spell checker" feature that has been in Android for a while. Normally, I turn it off in "Language and Input" menu, but it's not there anymore. I think this ROM (or the settings.apk) just doesn't let you turn it off.

I would also like to solve this problem on my Galaxy Note 4 (Bell Mobility, Canada) that was recently upgraded to Lollipop 5.0.1. I have the exact same red-underline with any of the 3rd party keyboards that I use and I have searched high and low for a way to disable it but with no success.
Is it a Samsung setting?
I have an S5 and an M7, both updated to lollipop. The M7 doesn't do the red-underline. Is it a Samsung setting somewhere?
Thanks.

It's definitely a Samsung thing... but I sure can't seem to find a setting anywhere to disable it...
Hi!
I have the very same problem as I speak with my friends in 4 different languages. After a lot of search I found the solution to completely disable the red underlining: selecting "Alphabet" (QUERTY) as your keyboard language, as I describe below:
1 Download the "Google Keyboard" app from the google Play
2 Go to keyboard settings - in lollypop it is under Settings > My device > Language and Input
3 Enter into "Google Keyboard" to show the google keyboard settings, and then go into "Languages"
4 Disable "Use system language" and ONLY enable "Alphabet (QUERTY)" from the list of languages (you will probably find it between Afrikaans and Arabic)
5 Go back again to Settings > My device > Language and Input, enter "Default" and select "Alphabet (QWERTY)" as default
Voilà!
Hey it works, but you would be forced to use Google keyboard which I don't like very much. I prefer Swype. But you know, choosing a language in Google keyboard and typing in that language won't trigger red underlines, so maybe it's a keyboard thing that interacts with lollipop api. If Google keyboard can set the device typing language then others can too, they just need to add the feature, it's a guess only though. I'm going to write to Swype about this.
Oh btw just noticed. There's a software update for my device (G900H), the first one after installing lollipop, around 300mb let's see what it is. Hopefully they add the option to disable system spelling checker.
UPDATE
Ok, the new update does not affect spell checker.
Had the same. Had google keyboard installed en when i used samsung keyboard i had the red lines. I uninstalled google keyboard and they where gone.
I used this method (I can't claim credit!):
Those red lines under text are very annoyng. So here is the tutorial to disable them.
Credit goes to @underlines
- turn on developer options
- turn on usb debugging
- on your PC downlolad and install minimal adb and fastboot ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 )
- connect your device via usb to your PC, wait 2 minutes until adb drivers have been installed
- run the installed adb link in your start menu, a cmd window opens op
- enter: adb shell
- enter: settings put secure spell_checker_enabled 0
- close cmd, disconnect phone, spell checking is disabled

Hello,
Has anyone figured out how to get Swype to work on the Samsung Series 7 Slate running Windows 8? I've tried everything I can think of to make it work and still can't get it to.
All it does is let you swype one word and then freezes up. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Nexttonomy
try this
http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/fp/ins_dl.php
its not "swype" but its the same concept under a different name.
confirmed swype style typing on samsung series 7 running win 8 x64
moved to general - not development
I was looking for this myself and believe this might have worked for 3rd party manufacturers
http://orcaservice.samsungmobile.com/ITEM/Software/BASW-13533A/BASW-13533A19.ZIP
I have continued looking and believe I have seen a newer version link that is working however this install does not complete and states that it was meant for a different manufacturer - i.e. for me Iconia w500
The new version is located http://orcaservice.samsungmobile.com/ITEM/Software/BASW-13533A/BASW-13533A23.ZIP
(install option "JUST ME" needs to be used to progress further in installation)
but fails to install fully giving me (error - can any one make this compatible with non samsung windows tablets) or has someone have the older compatible version?

Swype for Windows (tabletpc, not phone)
I have the same tablet, Acer W500 and like the Swype for Windows too!.
When the dialog box appear, you can copy the files before the installer delete them.
1. The application is in \Program files\Swype\
2. The application data is in \ProgramData\Swype\
I try copy the files, let the installer delete them and copy at hand again to the same locations.
In \ProgramData\Swype, you found an executable (I don't remember the name) who uninstall itself and fill the folder with some new files.
When you run the "Swype.exe" file from \Program Files\Swype\, the application close with error.
For the record, I have Windows 8.
I believe is missing some registration part, or in the post-install process before the dialog box... or maybe is the resolution (remember, our tablet have only 1280x800).
Do you try to edit the installer with Orca?. I try but not find the error dialog part for delete only this...
Best regards and please excuse my english!,
Sebastian
Swype working (well... not very good, but...)
Good news!.
Or not, the problem in the Acer W500 is the same of nexttonomy, Swype freeze after the first finger use (with the mouse work fine, but who like use Swype with the mouse?).
For get the swype keyboard working in a Acer W500 tablet you can follow this simple directions. Not work good, I think because Windows 8, but if anyone have Win7 can check...
1. Run the installer and when the error dialog appear, not accept anything.
2. Copy the files from \Program files\Swype\ to a safe place (for example c:\swype)
3. Copy the files from \ProgramData\Swype\ to the same place (in this example, c:\swype)
4. Accept the error dialog, you don't need to save anymore.
5. Go to c:\swype and run the file "ExtractResource.exe"
I'm not sure if this is really needed, check yourself:
6. Rename the files begining with "display0_" to the same name without this keyword (for example display0_SwypeIconLock.png to SwypeIconLock.png). If you have Python installed, this script do the work for you:
Code:
import os; shutil
for f in os.listdir('.'):
if f.startswith('display0_'):
shutil.copy(f, f.replace('display0_', ''))
7. Run the Swype.exe file!.
If I click over a key with the mouse, work, but If I do that with the finger, not (maybe is because the Win8 finger support).
When I get some time like to check run in administrator mode, or Win7 compatibility, and play with the settings.
If anyone find how to run better, please share the info!.
Please not ask for the files, because I think is illegal, if the instructions are not clear, please tell me and I try to explain better.
Best regards!,
Sebastian

thanks for your information I have been away and only just read your messages that you posted - I think unfortunately at the moment it is not good enough for a usable keyboard - but at least some progression was made
Thanks you, your original post made me investigate
Yes, in Windows 8 not work at all like what say nexttonomy, almost now in the W500 work like the original Samsung Slate!.
I believe if you have Windows 7 in the Acer W500, work fine!.
Maybe is the new "finger mode" (not know the right name) in Windows 8, in Windows 7 your finger movements and clicks work exactly like the mouse, but in Win 8 draw the movements and show a big circle when you click...
The Win8 on-screen keyboards are much better than the Win7 keyboards, but the Swype in my phone is really fast, we will have to wait for a new version!!!
Best regards,
Sebastian

has anyone gotten this working fully?
I`d love to have Swype on my tablet!
I was using Touchpal but I had to uninstall it [it breaks and you have to reinstall ] but I don't have the set-up file anymore and the touchpal site is gone . :[
I just started using the Windows 8 onscreen keyboard from the Accessibilty options and it has word completion as well as prediction but isn't a swipe interface. The space bar is also buggy and doesn't always work .
You can make the keyboard start on startup. I pinned the icon to my taskbar for easy access . You can show and minimize it by clicking on the icon.
It also sadly doesn't resize open windows so it gets in the way of stuff .
It is a lot better then the main Windows 8 keyboard
oh, you can easily resize it! :]
Sorry for the ancient necro, but I think this is the only relevant thread around here. I'm trying to get this running on an Acer R7-572 with Windows 8.1. Sadly, the earlier A19 revision with broader compatibility doesn't seem to exist online anywhere anymore, so I'm trying the file-copying trick with the A23 revision. I can save the files fine, but Swype.exe doesn't do anything when I try to run it. The computer thinks for a second then nothing happens. ExtractResource.exe doesn't do anything either. I've tried different compatibility modes for the installer and for Swype.exe but nothing works. I'd really like Swype on my Acer. I've tried TouchPal before but I don't like it, it was never working right.
Hi, I recently updated my Charm to CM7 and I thought I should share with you guys.
1. First of all your device should be rooted with SuperOneClick or any other method (if you don't know how to do it search on google)
2. Download Flipout System Recovery from the market.
3. Download CM7 ROM here.
https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B_9PVhD7VHclc29JcWRFeWVWZFU&export=download
4. Download Google Apps here
https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B_9PVhD7VHclMHdnUHFNdDBPV3M&export=download
5. Put both the CM7 ROM and the Google Apps on the root of the sdcard.
6. Open FlipOut Recovery and select Install Recovery System. Grant it superuser permission. After that select Recovery Boot
7. Wipe data, cache and open Advanced and wipe Dalvik cache
8. Select "install zip from sdcard" - "choose zip from sdcard" - select the CM7 ROM and go to - yes - and wait until finish installation, then use the same procedure to install the Google Apps.
9. Repeat step ''7'' again
10. Reboot and enjoy CM7.
I didn't have any problem(s) doing it so I hope it goes smoothly for you
Note: If it ain't broken don't fix it

Sorry to bother you
hello friend, I want to install this 2.3.6 gb my MB502 charm, but in steps, the market can not find any "Flipout System Recovery"
I have understood that this recovery is only for "motorola flipout", there is a section in the forum where they mentioned "FlipOut Recovery (CWM based v2.5.1.2)" does not mention charm, motorola charm MB502 is "[PORT] [CWM v5.0.2.6] Boostrapped Recovery for Charm and Flipside "or am I wrong?
incase you haven't noticed, Flipout and Charm share certain qualities because they're both Motorola phones besides why do you think this forum is under Flipout and Charm General.
just install the app and follow the instructions above, you should have no problems.
and i'll be very gratefull if you could help me with my research(check above). Please!
here is the app. enjoy
do you have the default background ? i set a background ,and it dont set back to default
make the number of homescreen 1 and set the desktop configuration for ''4 corners'' under the homescreen in the pereference from the background.
you can use this for the wallpaper (attachment)
guys help me out(above)
Hello friend .. even I do not install it cm7 it wanted that I was helping myself with folder (system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default) of t-mobile my this cel liberated and I use it with the telephony tigo colombia ... I am grateful for his response to him
What works and what doesn't work?
edit: I went ahead and flashed and so far so good but i noticed that it's only 2g. Anyway to switch it to 3g or is this a bug?
I've worked some things just do not work properly,
1. In the text message box, when you have text messaging on it, when you hit menu button gives FC.
2. No LED notifications work on haptic buttons, so it is impossible to know if you have received a missed call or text message.
NOTE: As a note I recommend making a backup of "system / etc / motorola / bp_nvm_default" because if not for your country will lose the signal.
Seem like it picks up 3g but doesnt reflect on the status bar also the status bar doesnt update so everything just overlaps. only way to get rid of the overlapping is to hold power button and hit reboot and the status bar will refresh and did notice the messaging app closes when one hits menu.
ok .. thank you for his contributions .. and q pasaria if I replace the folder etc original for etc cm7? Or only the file of sign?
I created this forum because I had no serious problems on my device, am sorry that it had different effects on our device.
My only problem is the 3g, keyboard doesn't show on screen and am sure there is a problem with the orientation.
For the network problems make sure you backup the network folder before the update.
If you have any problem with the network let me know cause I have a baseband switcher app which am working on, you could try it if you want:thumbup:

My friend raymondadutwum, almost perfect:
- The USB connection isn't working properly. I set the USB connection for Memory Card Access but I don't see it on the PC (W7 Ultimate). The battery is charging when I connect on the PC and I don't show to me any error connecting my MB502 on the PC;
- Do you know how to disable the Backtrack?
For now, everything else is working very well =D
Thanks a lot by your directions. Cheers from Brasil
Edu
Well I figured out that 3g works but you have to change your network preferences to gsm/wcdma (wcdma preferred) also I wouldn't mind trying that baseband switcher app. The only thing that really bugs me is that the notification bar doesn't refresh so as soon as I get a notification it'll just overlap on top of whatever was there and eventually just looks like a mess. anyone know of any settings I can enable/disable as a work around?
*Update
Please, forget about the USB connection. My mistake. Now I found the 2nd option on the notification bar to enable the use of the USB storage LOL
So, I just wanted to know how to:
1 - disable the backtrack
2 - modify the look of that bar at right (resize the icons)
Other questions:
3 - What about the Boo ROM - Boo-CM-7-20130930-RC4 v0.7.3? Who tested? Would be nice to know about the results.
4 - Who is actually working to port the CM7 for Charm MB502?
Long life to MB502 (at least while I don't have money for a new smartphone LOL)
Edu
Some bugs (an update)
- The backtrack: how to disable?;
- To insert numbers on the numeric fields (ex. clock) it's necessary to use the ALT button;
- The mail and camera buttons of the keyboard are not working;
- Display rotation is not working.
I'll bring more information while using the smartphone.

It seems my wifi no longer works with WPA2 networks. It works fine with the stock ROM. WPA1 works fine from a hotspot, but its not very secure. Anyone experience the same thing?
Otherwise, its pretty good!

You did not input the code correctly.
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space, recent;home;back, space”
You did not add the "put".

Splitting the command line works. :good:
can confirm it worked, after using that orientation on Samsung phone for years the stock android orientation is hard to get use to
It's really work on my PH-1 Pie, Thank you!
1. Follow the instruction to install ADB Installer v1.4.3 on Windows. (Download)
2. Plug your device into your computer. (Make sure enable the usb debugging mode in Developer Options before plug in)
3. On the computer, open up a terminal/command prompt and type adb shell.
4. dialog should show on your device, asking you to allow usb debugging. Check “always allow”, and choose “OK”.
5. Type> settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space,recent;home;back,space" (Enter)
6. All done.

What happens if you enable swipe-up-from-home gesture? Does the the reversed setting stick like it does on some custom rom's, with back button on the right and flat Pie home button and no recents button?

Thanks, that was literally one of the main reasons I was I wasn't happy with stock rom. I'll probably try to go back to stock in January to try this out.

Hi, thought this might be useful to users who are new to Android, or to other users who just got a phone with a new Android
This guide not only applies to S8/S8+ but to other phones that are higher than Android 6.0+
With this method you can remove apps that are by default unremovable If you try to manual removing them in the settings, aka. the bloatware that nobody needs.
For example, you can't remove Bixby Voice because it is part of the System, but with this method you can easily remove it. (I don't know if it completely removes it, but it won't be running in the background anymore)

So what do we do?
First we need to find out the package name of this app, you can do this by downloading System app removal, that has an option to view package names, aswell as the size of an app
We just found out the package name of this app, now we need to fire up ADB
You can download ADB from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
If you installed adb systemwide, you can just bring up cmd, and enter adb
Note, that adb requires enabling USB debugging, otherwise it won't work!
in cmd type adb devices and press enter
You should see a message in your phone, just tap ok
Your PC now should see the phone
It should show random numbers and letters, next to device If you did it right
Note: You may need to type again adb devices If your PC didn't recognized it at first
For the next step we'll finally remove the said app
Type adb shell then press enter
You will see something like this, and now comes the removing part
If you wish to remove an app, you need to enter this:
PHP:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 <package name>
And now I will remove Bixby Voice
Note: I already removed it, and it gives me this message, but I'll show you what happens
If you remove an app that is still installed on your phone
And that's it! These apps no longer exists on the phone
For proof I will show you that System app removal can't find the apps anymore:
Hope you find this useful
Note: Some system apps will reinstall themselves such as Bixby, there's no known method ATM on how to completely disable them
Hello. By this method it's not removed but hide for the user 0 (you). If you factory reset your phone, the app will appear again [emoji6]

Well that sucks, atleast it isn't running in the background
There is a similar guide on how to do this here.
Does this work with Oreo? I thought I read somewhere that the pm uninstall command was disabled in Oreo for the S8/+? Please correct me if I am wrong.

You can also do it with any of the package disablers. I did it with Adhell 3.
if you use the adb method is there a way to reinstall short of a factory reset? obviously there is no apk (or is there?).
I trashed all the bixby packages which is great, except that breaks bxactions which isn't so great lol (then again bxactions may be broken by Sammy next update anyway)

If you do a factory reset, they should be re-enabled
Thanks @Kizoky I was looking for a solution for this precisely, and obviously all mods in stock ROMs are deleted when doing a hard reset, like wallpaper, font, ringtone, all back to stock......
Caaaan't you guys just use this thing? I see it's removed from Play Store, replaced with an ad-riddled one, but surely it's Googleable.
Thanks for posting this - along with adhell3 there is no need to root anymore!
Still works, just tested it on a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.
Thanks for sharing!
