Hello,
Has anyone figured out how to get Swype to work on the Samsung Series 7 Slate running Windows 8? I've tried everything I can think of to make it work and still can't get it to.
All it does is let you swype one word and then freezes up. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Nexttonomy
try this
http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/fp/ins_dl.php
its not "swype" but its the same concept under a different name.
confirmed swype style typing on samsung series 7 running win 8 x64
moved to general - not development
I was looking for this myself and believe this might have worked for 3rd party manufacturers
http://orcaservice.samsungmobile.com/ITEM/Software/BASW-13533A/BASW-13533A19.ZIP
I have continued looking and believe I have seen a newer version link that is working however this install does not complete and states that it was meant for a different manufacturer - i.e. for me Iconia w500
The new version is located http://orcaservice.samsungmobile.com/ITEM/Software/BASW-13533A/BASW-13533A23.ZIP
(install option "JUST ME" needs to be used to progress further in installation)
but fails to install fully giving me (error - can any one make this compatible with non samsung windows tablets) or has someone have the older compatible version?

Swype for Windows (tabletpc, not phone)
I have the same tablet, Acer W500 and like the Swype for Windows too!.
When the dialog box appear, you can copy the files before the installer delete them.
1. The application is in \Program files\Swype\
2. The application data is in \ProgramData\Swype\
I try copy the files, let the installer delete them and copy at hand again to the same locations.
In \ProgramData\Swype, you found an executable (I don't remember the name) who uninstall itself and fill the folder with some new files.
When you run the "Swype.exe" file from \Program Files\Swype\, the application close with error.
For the record, I have Windows 8.
I believe is missing some registration part, or in the post-install process before the dialog box... or maybe is the resolution (remember, our tablet have only 1280x800).
Do you try to edit the installer with Orca?. I try but not find the error dialog part for delete only this...
Best regards and please excuse my english!,

Swype working (well... not very good, but...)
Good news!.
Or not, the problem in the Acer W500 is the same of nexttonomy, Swype freeze after the first finger use (with the mouse work fine, but who like use Swype with the mouse?).
For get the swype keyboard working in a Acer W500 tablet you can follow this simple directions. Not work good, I think because Windows 8, but if anyone have Win7 can check...
1. Run the installer and when the error dialog appear, not accept anything.
2. Copy the files from \Program files\Swype\ to a safe place (for example c:\swype)
3. Copy the files from \ProgramData\Swype\ to the same place (in this example, c:\swype)
4. Accept the error dialog, you don't need to save anymore.
5. Go to c:\swype and run the file "ExtractResource.exe"
I'm not sure if this is really needed, check yourself:
6. Rename the files begining with "display0_" to the same name without this keyword (for example display0_SwypeIconLock.png to SwypeIconLock.png). If you have Python installed, this script do the work for you:
Code:
import os; shutil
for f in os.listdir('.'):
if f.startswith('display0_'):
shutil.copy(f, f.replace('display0_', ''))
7. Run the Swype.exe file!.
If I click over a key with the mouse, work, but If I do that with the finger, not (maybe is because the Win8 finger support).
When I get some time like to check run in administrator mode, or Win7 compatibility, and play with the settings.
If anyone find how to run better, please share the info!.
Please not ask for the files, because I think is illegal, if the instructions are not clear, please tell me and I try to explain better.
Best regards!,
Sebastian

thanks for your information I have been away and only just read your messages that you posted - I think unfortunately at the moment it is not good enough for a usable keyboard - but at least some progression was made
Thanks you, your original post made me investigate
Yes, in Windows 8 not work at all like what say nexttonomy, almost now in the W500 work like the original Samsung Slate!.
I believe if you have Windows 7 in the Acer W500, work fine!.
Maybe is the new "finger mode" (not know the right name) in Windows 8, in Windows 7 your finger movements and clicks work exactly like the mouse, but in Win 8 draw the movements and show a big circle when you click...
The Win8 on-screen keyboards are much better than the Win7 keyboards, but the Swype in my phone is really fast, we will have to wait for a new version!!!
Best regards,
Sebastian

has anyone gotten this working fully?
I`d love to have Swype on my tablet!
I was using Touchpal but I had to uninstall it [it breaks and you have to reinstall ] but I don't have the set-up file anymore and the touchpal site is gone . :[
I just started using the Windows 8 onscreen keyboard from the Accessibilty options and it has word completion as well as prediction but isn't a swipe interface. The space bar is also buggy and doesn't always work .
You can make the keyboard start on startup. I pinned the icon to my taskbar for easy access . You can show and minimize it by clicking on the icon.
It also sadly doesn't resize open windows so it gets in the way of stuff .
It is a lot better then the main Windows 8 keyboard
oh, you can easily resize it! :]
Sorry for the ancient necro, but I think this is the only relevant thread around here. I'm trying to get this running on an Acer R7-572 with Windows 8.1. Sadly, the earlier A19 revision with broader compatibility doesn't seem to exist online anywhere anymore, so I'm trying the file-copying trick with the A23 revision. I can save the files fine, but Swype.exe doesn't do anything when I try to run it. The computer thinks for a second then nothing happens. ExtractResource.exe doesn't do anything either. I've tried different compatibility modes for the installer and for Swype.exe but nothing works. I'd really like Swype on my Acer. I've tried TouchPal before but I don't like it, it was never working right.

Does anyone know how to make the messagebox close more easier than tapping on "ok" button?

I think this is the finger-friendly feature.
I have a xda atom, and tried many pdaviet's ROMs and all pdaviet's ROMs (which I tried) have that feature. But they usually put so much apps into ROM which I don't like. Because pdaviet people don't make ROM upon request and they are not helpful, so I have to cook a ROM myself. I have successfully cooked WM6.1 ROMs, my currently is OS20924 (xip and sys from Elfin forum) but it does not have that feature. whenever a message box like that appear, I have no choice other than tapping "on" ok button to close it. As you see, we usually use thumb instead of stylus pen, and that make me feel annoying when trying to tap on the small ok button.
I do search a lot , over here and over the internet, msdn... Also I try to find that "setting" (whether it is or not) in the registry of my cooked ROM and pdaviet's ROM. I have tried many leads like coredll.dll, GWEs, MessageBox... But still no clue on this one. Now I think I am stuck.
Maybe I don't name it the right way or use the right keywords.
So, I post here and ask for some helps.
I attach my demo application that just pop an messagebox like the picture above.
The area outside the box is transparent, and part of the same "window". That box is part of a new screen, and is set to be dismissed only by tapping the specified area.
on the kaiser there is an "ok" hard button i just use it so i don't have to worry about hitting the tiny button
another option would be finding the "app" that creates the message and writing a new one with the same name, then replacing the item in the windows folder...... this would be more than just a registry edit, as the command is written in the .exe

Yes. What I mean is tapping inside that alert/message windows, but not title bar.

It's not just happen with some apps, but all apps that pop up message with only ok button. It is just a simple API function which coredll.dll support - MessageBox(). And it seem I can't write a new coredll.dll to replace the coredll.dll from MS. I wanna know why my cooked ROMs do not "treat" messagebox like that (even with new xip and sys), but pdaviet's ROMs do. And I wanna know whether it is an add-on feature or just a reg setting.
I guess I have to ask pdaviet people directly.
anw, I am a programmer though, I know what it is. I just can't describe it more clearly because English is not my native language.

I know what you were saying, but you'd have to find where it's coded to give the action. Also, the center button works for it too.
Alternatively, use FTouchFlo (or better still, FTouchSL) to assign gesture to close the message.
For FTouchSL, you can assign this task to a corner, say bottom left/right to close application by a long press (duration can be adjusted too).
I have just replace all dlls, exes of my current ROM (20924) with exes and dlls from pdaviet's Rom (same sys version - 20924). And there, that "feature" is there! So, there must be some file(s) in pdaviet's ROM that support this "feature".
What I did is:
-dump pdaviet OS20924, and because they remove all dsm and rgu, so all files are in dump folder, and it simply can't be packed or make packages out of it.
-RUN "build ROM.cmd" make it pause right after run buildOS.
-Use some directory compare program (I use WinMerge - it is open source) to compare 2 dump folder :first dump folder by buildOS and the other dump folder of pdaviet's ROM.
-Copy all identical files/folder (but different in file size or content) from pdaviet dump to my dump folder. Leave the different as it is.
-Continue the build ROM process.
-Flash the image that may contain errors to my Atom to test if there is that feature.
After some error messages which cause by different hive keys, it boot like normal. And I try msgbox.exe that I have attach at 1st post. Wow, now that message can be closed by tapping on the message windows like I want.
The next thing is merge two Reg hives as one, and remove some reg keys that my ROM does not need.
Then replace all the file in my SYS folder with in pdaviet dump folder.
There are a lot works to do.
And finally, I find a way to put that feature into my ROM
Thanks everybody.
so are you saying this could be done as a rom patch, or would you have to have the feature built into your rom (completley new rom flash)

Right now, I still have to investigate more to figure out which file (module) has that feature to make a rom patch, and still I have no clue what it is. So I think I should make a completely new ROM flash, it easier though.
ps: I though they use the word "image" such as hard drive image, CD image (.iso, .nrg, .img, .bin ...) and here it is .nb0
this is actually a good idea for a feature. i'd certainly use it.
this is a good step more towards "real" customization of the windows ui instead of programs that try and run over it to replace it, looking forward to seeing progress
Hello,
I just wanted to announce a little app I wrote in response to a request over here.
In a nutshell it just goes through your device, checks against a list of software in a config file, and lets you check off the ones you'd like to uninstall. Then it removes those apps from your file system and the registry.
This is my first windows mobile app. It's fairly simple, but if anyone finds any bugs, please let me know.
Right now there is only a config file for the HTC Tilt 2. If anyone would like to write a config file for other devices (Rhodium or not), I've included documentation on how to do so, and I'd be happy to help.
You can grab the Tilt 2 version of Crud Scraper here.

So essentially this is an uninstaller that gets rid of everything left by an app?

Can you post the cab right here? I have an aggressive firewall that I don't control that prohibits your linked site as 'Free Pages' ..sheesh!
That sounds good and i will test it on the Rhodium 100 aka Touch Pro 2. Will report later.
Love the icon
I ran it after having removed 90% of what it scrapes, and it worked like a charm. Thanks, great utility!

I didn't even realize the files could be hosted here as a normal user. I've just edited the main post of this thread to include the file you'll need.
Bear in mind that it's not a cab though. It's a zip file containing an exe and a config file for the Tilt 2. Just save those to the same folder on your device, run the exe, and the rest is self explanatory.

Did you ever get the chance to test this on the US TP2?
I have a CDMA phone (Verizon Rhodium 500)and would love to give it a shot.
Tried it on my Tilt2 unfortunately, I didn't have the option to remove the programs I installed the app to remove. Looks like it needs somemore development to be able to select everything on the phone. I can't comment on how good it works because I didn't remove anything. I do appreciate the effort though.

What app(s) specifically are you referring to?
The only apps it removes are the ones defined on the wiki entry defining the crapware here.
If I know what apps you'd like removed, then I can add those apps to the XML file that defines the list of apps to check for.

HELP!!!
Ok, I'm at my wits end. I've downloaded the zip, extracted the files & copied them to the phone (was drag & drop ok?). I can't get the program to launch. I just get windows offering to run out to the web to find a fix.
How do you execute it? I don't see it listed on the phone itself so I thought I should do it via the laptop on the .exe that was on the phone.
Does it matter what OS is on my laptop?
AWESOME!
Just want to say that pyromosh is awesome. Walked me thought what I needed to do.
For those that don't have Framework 3.5 - you need to install that on your PC then dig down in that folder to get the 3.5 cab file to move to your phone and install.
After that, it works like a charm.
On happy Texan gal here.
great program, pyromash....
i was directed to this thread because I'm trying to delete the actual .exe files from the Windows folder (plus some other stuff like the bloat mp3's)... i tried with File Explorer & Total Commander... these delete attempts all failed...
is there a way to do this??

This is a complete tool-kit to get android on the HP Touchpad.
The pack is designed for easy installation of Cyanogenmod 9 (ICS 4.0.4) or Cyanogenmod 10 (JB 4.1.2).
What does the pack do?
•Step by step guided installation wizard, fully configures the users PC.
•Installs Novacom (32bit or 64bit)
•Copies the following files to the "Palm, Inc" folder, ACMEInstaller3, ACMEUninstaller, uImage.ClockworkMod
•Runs the ACMEInstaller3 install command to install android
•Works with CM9 or CM10 (most likely CM7 too, although this is untested)
•Runs on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8
•Advanced section for experienced users to only access what they need
•Runs the ACMEUninstaller to remove android (advanced section)
•Does NOT require java to be installed on your PC
Download (be sure to untick "Use our download manager and get recommended downloads"):
http://d-h.st/bNH
Notes
•*IMPORTANT* If you run CM10 then as soon as possible go into settings > Storage > three dots in top right > USB Computer connection, and tick "Media Device (MTP)"
•Will not work if run from a directory containing spaces in the name, Windows 7 "C:\Users\[user name]\Downloads\" will work, Windows XP "C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\My Documents\" will fail. Windows XP users I advice you extract the "touchpad-xcd.zip" folder to your C:\ drive and not my documents.
•Files will fail to copy if not run as administrator on Windows Vista, 7/8
•Tested extensively on Windows XP, Vista, 7 & 8 by users of various abilities with 100% success.
Changelog
•Version 1 - 22/12/2012 - Initial pack released for limited testing
•Version 2 - 20/2/2013 - Updated pack, moboot 037 replaced by 038, batch file tweaked based on user suggestions, rolled out to wider audience.
•Version 3.1 - 21/02/2013 - Batch file updated to improve use and readability, password removed. 'uImage.ClockworkMod' is now only copied when doing an advanced memboot install, and not by default.
How do I use it? (Full guide to follow shortly)
•Download and extract the "touchpad-xcd.zip" zip file, using the password "xcdtouch" (without quotes).
•Connect your touchpad to your PC the same as normal to transfer files.
•Copy the included cminstall folder to the main directory of your touchpad.
•Decide if you want CM9 or 10, get one or the other NOT both.
•If you want CM9 then download the newest files from the following links
◦CM9 Android (official nightly)
◦CM9 Google Apps
•If you want CM10 then download the newest files from the following links
◦CM10 Android (jcsullins preview)
◦CM10 Google Apps
•Copy the android and google apps you just downloaded into the cminstall folder on the touchpad
•Rename the two files so the file names start with “update-“ (no quotes), so your cminstall folder looks similar to the following screenshot.
•
•Run the “run-me.bat” file (Windows Vista, 7 & 8, right click and run as Admin)
•Select standard user and follow the step by step guide in the batch file

Best and easiest method yet kudos. I was able to use this after bricking my touchpad trying to install SickleROM Alpha due to an improper ACME installer. Used webos doctor to get webos back and then used your batch file and everything was back to the way it was before the failed install so easy that even the most timid among us could do successfully.

Is it possible to install a rom which is based on CM9 (e.g., Fat'n Creamy) using this?

Does the camera and flash player work with this mod?
What steps do you take to keep up with the nightly updates for CM9?

I would imagine you would just need to name it update-CM9FatnCreamy_Feb2813.zip
Also the same would go for CWM. update-CWM6.zip
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
All this does it makes it easier to install android.
App support comes down to the rom you install.
Flash will work natively on CM9, it will work on CM10 with a bit of messing, camera depends on if the rom supports it again.
IT should install any rom as long as it start's with 'update-' as mentioned above.
To update either use CWM as normal, or just copy the new rom (and gapps) into the cm9 folder and run my script again.
Installer works perfectly fine. Although it's not as automated as I thought it would be.
Well I could make the steps run themselves, but I like to let people know what's going on.
I haven't tried this one but Easy Installer has less work to it and does the same thing.

Don't you a least think you should try before comparing/criticising it against something else!!!
It looks extremely good and professional to me.
Going to give this a try on my other touchpad but instead of using CM9 or 10 I'm going with Fat n Creamy.

The Windows Phone 8 Emulator is installed as a part of the Windows Phone 8 SDK. You can follow some steps below to begin hacking the emulator.
Things to do:
everything....
InteropUnlock
BCD Editing
Well, first thing is first. Getting the WP8 SDK to install.
PREREQUISITES:
A SLAT capable CPU and BIOS. Some OEMs have only enabled the virtualization feature, but missed the SLAT feature.
Your computer needs to support hardware DEP (No execute bit for AMD).
An OS that supports Hyper-V: Server 2008, 2008R2, 2010, 2012, 2012R2, or Windows 8 Pro.
Note: AFAIK, the only officially supported OS for this is Win8Pro-x64
Access to a user account that has Administrator rights.
Steps for "Getting Ready!"
Set the date to 10/5/13 - one day before expiration (thanks to mister2d.)
Install the SDK normally. (Note: the complete SDK should be installable on any 64bit OS that has the OS version at 6.1 or newer, just follow the tutorial in my signature.)
Install the Visual Studio Update 4.
Install the Windows Phone Emulator - Update 3
Now, most of you can launch the emulator by opening the Windows Phone Deployment Tool (or Windows Phone Power Tools) and deploy to the resolution of choice and to either RTM or GDR3.
I seemed to hit a bug where XDE (the emulator shell) can't create a Virtual Machine properly. It seems to be surrounding the disk being attached improperly.
So.... You can skip the entire part above if you have the Flash.vhd and the desired resolution vhd.
Using the WP8 emulator only using Hyper-V Manager
Open Hyper-V Manager
Click on New, then Virtual Machine
Name the VM what ever you like.
Set RAM at 512 or 1024. 2048 me be a little finicky.
Leave Networking on Not Connected unless you have fully configured Hyper-V.
Select "Attach a virtual hard disk later"
Click Finish.
Right click on the VM you have just created and go to settings.
Click on DVD Drive and press remove.
Click on Hard Drive and paste the location of the desired resolution vhd.

Microsoft accounts
dialer (I can't seem to get any of the dialer codes to work yet.)
camera (kinda...just displays a colored box running around the edges.)
Steps to InteropUnlock:
Attach the vhd
type diskmgmt.msc at the start screen. click attach vhd. paste the location of the vhd and press ok.
e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Phone\v8.0GDR3\Emulation\Images\Flash.480x800.vhd
right click on blue disk shown and click on detach vhd once done with working on it.
type regedit.exe at the start screen.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click File, Load Hive.
Go to the main partition (the one that has all the links to the other drives...)
and go down to Windows\System32\config (it will ask for permission to enter...)
Hmm....Seems to be interopunlocked already...
More soon!

Just saying this in case you didn't know this: You can mount the VHD file as a hardware and explore/edit emulator system files.
That's exactly what's in the op, but I'm not sure what persists and there's a few others too, but I ran out of time to mess with it. Just highlight the text and you'll see that the directions are there.
Essentially this should be able to operate like a real device, but it needs a few tweaks. Also its funny to see in settings for it to say i386 under the SoC.

Convert VHD into vmdisk, then you can run the emulator in VMWare directly with CPU without SALT or VT and can also without win8
Saw this over on the winbeta site. Didn't really check it out but may be useful in backing up any work done on the emulators. As I said I didn't take much time checking it out but may be worth a look. http://go.altaro.com/?LP=WinBeta-30...tm_medium=banner-300x250&utm_campaign=winbeta
What would be really nice is to make it so you can connect your MS account from the emulator.

Yeah it might just need an easy tweak, but then again I simply don't know.
Skin WP-Emulator
Skin WP-Emulator from MS Dev Center.
Maybe someone needs

Does anyone here have made the update to windows 11 on a windows yogabook ?
I've try this and with help of MediaCreationTool.bat i was able to overpass the processor compatibility.
It donwload the update, run all the install but at the end of this process i Come with an error and the update process colse to delete all this work, coming with just a windows 10 after all.
When the update finish i have 2 type of error
attempted write to readonly memory
Or
Error in safe_os with an error on Boot operator
Don't know why i have this error and how to fix it.
I try on a fresh install with my old files and already try to à New clean install, but all this try i already have an error....
Does anybody here have this error and can clear it to made the update or run the windows 11 update without problems on a yogabook ?
Nope, I was not facing any issues with the Install. (sorry, don't ask for a guide as there already are hundreds of it. Google it)
Furthermore, I am already testing WSA and it's surprisingly working fluid. You obviously get the 4GB warning but once WSA is fully loaded it's "bingo". (check OneDrive & Adobe Draw running side by side). I had 5 Apps running at the same time but the process usage in the Taskmanager was not freaking out (if you compare it to Bluestacks etc) !
And yes, pen works perfectly in the Android Apps...

Thanks for your answer, my problem is not how to made the w11 update, cause i already install it on another pc, but why i have this error, i already try three time to install it and already have the Same error (First time i try to give my files and i have this error, thinking this can be the problem i made the Same process but with a clean install, same result and last time i totally reinstall my yogabook with a clean install and try to launch w11 update on it (with MediaCreationTool.bat each time) and i have the Same result)
Each time the donwload process go to the end and the install work fine (i have no reboot du ring all the update) but when i came to the final (and First) boot of w11 i have this error on a Black screen (old blue screen of windows) and the pc uninstall the update and come back to w10.....
No idea where and why you struggle... to test the WSA I just downloaded the latest Insider Beta... The Device Manager detected everything, absolutely everything except the Multimode Halo Keyboard obviously...
Insider Beta ISO
Download Windows Insider Preview ISO

Just try with the insider Iso, but i always have the Same error....
Can't complete the installation....
The error is in the message... you are trying to install Win11 on a MBR Partition. Win11 needs an UEFI GPT Partition... Google for it on how to convert it. Microsoft has even an own tool for it https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/mbr-to-gpt

I made the bios update find on lenovo support site whitch is specified to be BIOS/UEFI
When i check thé TPM compatibility on the pc the statut is OK and version is 2.0....
When i' m on bios i can't enable secure boot statut...
I have no idea. It worked perfectly from scratch on my Yogabook. I assume you updated the Bios from here

Did you try to start in safe mode and run "mdsched.exe" ? (Usually pressing F8 right after the lenovo bios logo appears, but you will probably need and external usb keyboard for this)
@jamespmi
Thanks for your time and your help.
For the BIOS update Yes it directly come from the lenovo site (the only update aviable so i can't make mistake).
I just try to make a full run of mdsched.exe in safe mode (really hard to keep a usb keyboard cause my 2 wireless keyboard wasn't reconnised in safe mode) and no error after the check...
I really don't understand what can block the W11 update on my yogabook.
Also try to install with desableing all non essentiel app and service at startup..... No more result.....
The only option i do not try is to make the update in safe mode (don't know if it's possible...)
Hey,
typing this from my W11 yoga book... i used the reg tweak as described in this article and just started upgrading by opening the ISO in W10 https://pureinfotech.com/install-windows-11-unsupported-pc/
Needed to install some drivers again, but overall it works okay. Just disable all animations. Because our old tablet just can't handle those any more.
is there any benefit in using vw11 instead of w10 in performance terms? I would go for w11 but only performance driven as WSL is running fine ;-)

It really depends on the flavour of windows 11 you install. But I would say yo
