Hi.
So I am looking for a Note 3, unlocked.
I just want two things out of it:
- unlocked
- able to run stock samsung rom / alternate roms (clean JB let's say)
so which model in the US will qualify?
I am currently looking at a N900V in a good price. Is this good?
THANKS!!!!

Thanks so much for that.
Regarding the N900V, it states that the bootloader is locked.
Will I be able to unlock it?
thx again!

I have the International Original N7000 Note. It is unlocked and I have used it on ATT since it came out. I'm rooted and have Rocket ROM on it
Since it was always my phone, I never worried about ATT giving me a hard time about it being Rooted.
But I am thinking of upgrading to the new Note 3 from ATT.
I'm sure ROMs will be developed for it.
What are the pitfalls with ATT if I root the phone? Other than they wouldn't support it if I bricked it.
Will they Brick it with an Update?
Will they detect it is rooted and give me a hard time?
Looks pretty sharp and I can sell my Unlocked International note for some pretty good change still. But I know I'll want to root the phone.
The AT&T boot loader is locked. It will need to be cracked before a custom ROM is possible, and the S4 hasn't been cracked since the original vulnerability was "fixed" .
You may be out of luck with AT&T.

Hmmm, so none of the ATT branded notes could be rooted?
I'll have to look into some other LTE version perhaps.

They may sell the international version, but I don't know if that's unlocked/ rooted. Keep in mind, carrier unlocked isn't the same. e as bootloader unlocked

I see on youtube about Custom ROMs being loaded on ATT Note I and II.
So I'm trying to figure out what you guys are talking about here.

Hi mate ,
Root has nothing to do with SIM unlock , to sim unlock you need a code, in the old days used to be possible to do it without the code, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683
Not possible anymore , as far as i know , there ara apps that in some model can do it , but you have to pay
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.galaxsimunlock&hl=en
It does not work in all models ...and more important firmware versions
Hi. It does not work in any way.

Hi, I am planning to buy refurbished Note 3 in a 3 days but I could not find any development for this variant. Is it same with International Note 3 (HLTE) or completely different variant. If it is so I have to cancel since I really dont like Touchwiz and want to use AOSP build on the device.
Thanks in advance.

The AT&T model is locked at the bootloader, so there will not be any AOSP ROMs for that variant. You will probably want the unlocked, international variant.

If it was unlocked (which it isn't), someone would still need to do the actual work of bringing up the device trees for the ROMs. But as the bootloader has never been unlocked, this doesn't really matter.
Recently I purchased a note 3 off ebay to use tell Im available for an upgrade. I'm not sure what software version is on it cause I haven't gotten it. Just have a few questions.
Is the only way you can root is in 4.4.2 ?
If the phone comes can't I downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.4 and them to 4.4.2.
Please understand I'm new to Samsung so not sure it all works. Coming from all htc devices like DNA and one max.
Welcvome aboard

no, you can root Lollipop as well.
there are ways to downgrade but you have to be careful...
Look out for threads in General section and work on the method specific to your model (about downgrade)
this is for N900 http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/safe-to-downgrade-ll-to-kk-sm-n900-t3016966

Do not downgrade. Why would you do that?
No it is not the same, flashing other variants roms will brick yours. Or supersu twrp etc.
V is for Verizon

Could you please link me to an guide on n900V and how to root it on lollipop. Samsung and HTC devices are way different in how to do things and I don't want to screw up. Hopefully you understand.

Verizon version is not rootable, nor does it accept custom recoveries. You better choose another variant, if that is important to you.

Because it has locked bootloader, right?
So there is no way to unlock the bootloader like with Sonys? Like asking for unlock code from Verizon?

You are correct. Samsung phones all come bootloader unlocked, unless the carriers wants them locked (as was the case with Verizon and AT&T for the Note 4).
The locked versions have almost never successfully been unlocked.
So if you can, stay away from these two variants.

Then why are people saying I can root it.... I do know the phone is coming networked unlocked. I find it crazy that if you can't unlock a verizon bootloader that there are roms that support verizon.
So what your telling me is there's no possible way to root even on stock so i can run xposed framework.?

Some firmware versions have vulnerabilities, which can be exploited to gain root/install safestrap. Some versions allow downgrading to vulnerable versions. But not all.
You should check the Verizon forums for more information http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3.

No. Verizon uses CDMA and will not allow 3rd party phones on their network. T-Mobile uses GSM and will NOT work on Verizon network. Period. You MUST use a Verizon branded device on Verizon network.

Hello.
I can't seem to find the info, has the Canadian G6 been unlocked? Also are the US roms compatible with the H873? I'm considering getting one but want to be able to run custom roms.
Thanks!
