Hello,
I'm new to Android Wear. My LG G watch is coming in the mail next week and I'm starting to set up a development environment for Wear. I've programmed for Android in the past and I wanted to know if it's possible to have the watch connect with a non-phone device and interface with it.
Example, I want to control a device with an HC-05 (basically, it's a bluetooth serial COM protocol) directly from my watch without using my phone. Is it possible? Where can I find more information about this? I've built a working android (not wear) app that does this, but again, I'm new to Wear and I'm confused about how it communicates via bluetooth.
I paired my g watch easily with a Bluetooth shield on an arduino. Now I can open my garage door with my watch with out without a phone.

hmm i wonder if its possible to pair it with an iphone and send notifications through the iphone using an app on the watch
Negative....no active support. The BT shield is only pairable because it's strictly an SPP protocol....

I got my XDA II (Chinese Version) and try to use TV Remote 5.5. However, I tried using the built-in profile (Panasonic TV), no response. I tried to learn from the remote, but it couldn't learn and 'Time Out".
Is there any setting needed to be set to use the IR remote function?
sohand
I dont think the IRda on the XDA-II is of the same class as those IRs used by the likes of TVs etc.... sorry, means good Ir data rates but your remote control software will not work.
someone feel free to correct me
XDA II and TV Remote 5.5
Thanks.
Then, how can I use my XDA II as remote control for my tv and dvd?
sohand
I've sent an E-Mail to the TV Remote Controller author regarding about this issue. But no response at all. I've been using it for my XDA for a long time.
i gotten it to work
but the solution was to get as close to the device
as 30cm
which kinda makes the name remote a joke
here are some links if using it as a remote is very very important

and which software did you use?
XDA II and TV remote 5.5
Rudegar,
You are lucky. I installed the TV remote, but could not send remote signal or learn from a remote control....
Any idea on the setting in the device.
FYI, I can transmit data through the IR...

well i havent don it with xda2 only xda1 so i cant say for sure if there are not issues other then range with xda2
First: sorry for my english...
The problem is, that the tv remote program cannot connect to the ir port.
but i cannot find why... it might be another program...
i figure that out, when i took an camera to view the ir beam...
when i send an message via ir, i saw the ir beam, but when i send
signals via a tv remote program, i saw nothing...
i thing, some registry hack can solve this problem...
i hope soon....
Hi, I was wondering if there is, has been, or an app in development for android to use the phone as a wireless gaming receiver? Like use the phone as a receiver to connect it with a wireless Xbox 360 controller to play games on the PC. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is what you are asking for, but I use this program: http://www.frankiesoft.com.ar/
Thanks for the find! I might use that app because I just want to use a substitute for my joystick to play Flight Simulator X because I can't find it. What I'm looking for is an app that can function as this: http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-U...es/XboxWirelessGamingReceiverforWindows.aspx/

So basically what you want to do is to connect your xbox 360 controller to your pc through your android powered phone? if so, i'm sorry to tell you that this is not possible, yet.
Can you just get a wired controller and plug it in? I know that costs more money, but it would work...
Hi all
The thread title says it all really:
How to stream music from a Nexus 7 to a PC via Bluetooth?
Do I just need to buy a Bluetooth dongle for my PC and pair the two together or do I need to install a specific software/driver on the PC?
Thanks in advance.
Bumparoo
Do you have the 3g version? If not then I suppose the n7 and your computer are on the same network? Its probably easier to stream to xbmc or winamp or something similar via dlna, upnp, udp or what it's called.

Thanks for the reply, mertzi.
It would be used with the WIFI version and Bluetooth would be the prefered method.
No advice from one of you gurus? :silly:
So I have my car set up as a Wifi hotspot thanks to my work-provided cellphone.
I'd like to use my personal Nexus 7, Wifi tethered to my work cellphone, to make phone calls.
Can anyone provide any suggestions? I've tried using GrooveIP, and it will play incoming call audio through my car's speakers, but it appears to only use the Nexus's internal mic rather than the car's mic.
Thanks for any tips!
What exactly are you trying to connect to, the car or your mobile phone's hotspot? Is it your car or phone that has mobile hot spot? and if so, does it support infrastructure or adhoc wireless tethering? Need more information before I can try to find a work around for you.
In most cases, if you have a Wifi hotspot you should be able to connect just as you would to your home network. Sometimes adhoc wifi networks aren't support by certain devices, such as the first gen Kindle Fire tablet.
Edit: Reread your post, it's impossible. The car's Bluetooth won't recognize the Nexus 7 as a phone, it sees it as it is, a tablet. It would be like trying to connect a Bluetooth capable keyboard to your car, the car doesn't understand why it needs a keyboard, so it doesn't tether. There may be a work-around to this issue, but I know little about Bluetooth tethering. That work-around may require root access on your Nexus 7.

There are certain profiles a car's Bluetooth receiver will work with. For hands free calling, it is HFP. Since your Nexus 7 is not a mobile phone, it will not have this profile for the car to communicate with. However, the tablet can be connected to stream BT audio, hence why you can get the audio through the car's speakers but not have the mic working.

Sorry - I want it to connect to the car. But, as Asus_USA says, that might not be possible with a tablet...
Guys, just want to know if the 'Wireless Display' is a good feature for most us. Will you push your phone screen to the TV?
(Assume you already have a Miracast dongle)

I guess your LG TV will work with phone which has LG logo on it.
I won't use it, not because I don't like it but because I don't have a need for it.
I don't think I'll use it. Maybe to try it, but not more.

I have tried to share my son's video in the family TV, so his grandfather can watch more clearly, he is a aged man, bad sight.
Yes
Yes I would use miracast.
I'm currently using Airplay protocols to stream some content via my Nexus4 to a Raspberry Pi running XBMC - with display on my TV. This works quite well using PushTo and iMedia apps. But not all media sources can be pushed - it depends on primary app that accesses the media.
I also use a satellite box too that runs Enigma2 (based off Linux) and then use DreamDroid in conjuction with semperVidLinks to push content (mainly Youtube with this route) to the TV.
One thing is it's all changing very fast and I guess more content will be available for streaming as developers pile in.
