[Q] How to stream music from Nexus 7 to PC via Bluetooth? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
The thread title says it all really:
How to stream music from a Nexus 7 to a PC via Bluetooth?
Do I just need to buy a Bluetooth dongle for my PC and pair the two together or do I need to install a specific software/driver on the PC?
Thanks in advance.

Bumparoo

Do you have the 3g version? If not then I suppose the n7 and your computer are on the same network? Its probably easier to stream to xbmc or winamp or something similar via dlna, upnp, udp or what it's called.

Thanks for the reply, mertzi.
It would be used with the WIFI version and Bluetooth would be the prefered method.

No advice from one of you gurus? :silly:

yeah i saw a video of Twonky server, looks pretty good.
Has ANYONE been able to successfully stream any content from a DHD to a PS3?
I have tried using Connected Media and TwonkyMobile Server and neither worked.
The only way I've seen DNLA work is DHD to a Windows 7 PC. I really would love it to work against the PS3 however - given that my PS3 is connected to a 40" HD LCD TV.
I am gonna try it tomorrow morning.
Can You just tell me what codec/container is best for DHD and PS3?

I've got mine working flawlessly using twonkymobile. I've never had any problems with it and it just worked the first time I tried
Yup. I can stream stuff from DHD to PS3 using TwonkyMobile (NOT TwonkyServer).
Doesn't work to my xbox 360 though. It sees the phone but can't connect to it.

Interesting. I cant figure out why its not working for me.
I had to uninstall Twonky Server and then everything went ok. Bit slow, but works ok.

[Q] Nexus 7 to TV question

HI guys,
I just wanna know, how can i connect my device to tv?
Is there wired connection? what about wireless connection?
What are the things i need?
For example, my tv is Samsung LED Series 5?
What are the things i can do after connecting:
- can i access my device as a storage device?
- can i play a movie to my device and have it displayed in my tv?
Thanks in advance
With the app Mediahouse (pro) you can stream movies from your tablet to you tv (netwerk).
you can choose to stream content to your tablet of from your tablet to your tv (if i'm correct)
New or old n7? This is easily found anywhere online. Old n7 can't mirror it's screen to the TV except with a mod for miracast (this mod is new). This mod doesn't work on 4.3 yet and requires supported hardware on the TV too.
What does work is dnla or upnp, which sends local media to the TV - movies, music, photos that are stored locally not streamed. Many apps support this and lots of hardware does too.
New n7, you can use slim port cable to mirror the screen

I have the old one, there is no something like adapter, converter, cable that can connect the device to the tv? i cant seem to find any on mr. google, and yeah i saw that the new nexus 7 is capable of that, thanks
Chromecast may solve your problem if you can get your hands on one.

This is awesome news! When you using Play Music All Access do the LED lights work like they used to?
Does it show up in the Chromecast app? Can you stream Netflix to it? Can you stream to it from your Chrome browser? Or is it just the old streaming functionality that's been in the Google apps since the Q was released? It's possible Google pushed app updates to the Q, but I'm not holding my breath just yet until I see more proof.

this would make sense, but it did play audio and video. the thing that does make me think this might be the case is that it only worked on my nexus 10, which is my only device running 4.3. i didnt work in chrome or on my s4 running CM 10.1
i didnt notice the LED and it didnt appear in the chromecast app

Bluetooth devices show up google play music all access with the same cast button as the chromecast. I've tested this with a Jawbone Jambox and my Ford Sync stereo. *IF* the nexus Q was showing up, I would guess it wasn't showing up as a bluetooth device, it was never designed to stream that content via bluetooth but to access the cloud like chromecast over wifi. Do you have a screenshot of google play music that you can share with us?
Has someone tried this in their Q yet?

My Q shows up as an available device under the bluetooth on my s3 but when i try to pair it, it says its unavailable to communicate with it. my Q does work with YouTube still. any ideas?
Passkey
My Nexus 7 attempts to pair via Bluetooth, but asks to verify the device is displaying a unique passkey. I don't have a display connected to the Q.

N7 miracast to TV but TV haven't speaker..

Just buy a new Nexus 7 yesterday with Netgear PTV3000, and want to enjoy movie and games in wireless..
But stupid thing happened..my TV doesn't have internal speakers, I used to connect my PS3 to AMP via fiber to get 5.1 sound.
How can I separate the audio by original 3.5mm or bluetooth? Now I cannot hear anything when connected to Netgear PTV3000...:crying:
Anyone could help? Thanks!!

Wow sounds like you need a video converter box that will give you audio seperate from video. You can't use bluetooth speakers. I tried that to get better audio. The only other thing you could try is a speaker plugged into the headphone jack.

Yeah i wanted better sound so I tried using a bluetooth speaker but it didn't work.
Oh btw you have no audio outputs in your tv? Not sure what soneone would be thinking to make a tv with no speakers and hdmi as well.
I have this problem too. I need to play my sound through Bluetooth speakers but Miracast will not allow me to do so. Interestingly, my Sony Xperia Z was an exception. It allowed me to play into Miracast and Bluetooth speakers at the same time, so I am convinced that it is a software implementation issue. Unfortunately, the Sony Z will disconnect me from wifi internet whenever Miracast is working.

SORRY, I spoke too soon... Sony Xperia Z (Android 4.3) does NOT allow the Bluetooth speakers to work together with Miracast either, although it DID work before. Whatever it is, in all summary, Miracast does NOT work with Bluetooth speakers! (or 3.5mm audio headset)
The sound is being sent to the tv as it is supposed to be. You need to pull the audio from there.

I"m just now learning about miracast, could those of you who use it explain it a little?
If I understand it correctly, even if your tv doesn't have any built in ability I can buy a dongle and make it work?
Also, this will allow me to play videos from my tablet SD card to the tv, not just stream vids like chromecast?
Again, Allcast + Chromecast (or Roku, console, or smart TV). Stream whatever you want to tv,

I thought Chromecast only let you stream Netflix and YouTube or other online movies. So you're saying the allcast app will work with Chromecast and allow me to watch movies saved on SD card?
Looks like I'm going to try the all cast/ chrome cast route next. I tried a slimport dongle from amazon, saw my screen for a second. Next tried a netgear miracast ptv3000, could only connect for a couple seconds and then lost the connection. Why is something that should be so simple so flipping difficult?

Some miracasts work with some tvs , same with slimport. Kinda a crap shoot . wish I didn't have to get them online and wait for mail to see if they work. Lol. Not many stores have them. Best buy has one sad little google display with n7 2013 n5 and chromecast.. . that's it. Ha
The chromecast/allcast app combo is working perfectly. Setting up the chromecast was easy, way easier than the netgear setup. My n7 connected right away and using the allcast app is very easy. I've been watching video for a solid hour now with no stutters or interruptions. For a total of $40 it's definitely worth it, thank you for the suggestion.

1. I am using a monitor, not a TV. So thereis no "Audio Out".
2. I want to use Miscast, not Chrome cast. NOT interested in Chrome cast. Thank you for your understanding.

Flashable Build Prop to enable Screen Mirroring ??

Wondering if someone has it to flash on my 6P so that I can Screen Mirror to my Samsung TV's with out needing Chrome Cast .. Thanks
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
You will need to tell us the type of samsung tv it is and what casting it uses natively. As in does it have a app built in that is for casting/mirroring
Without that information we can't really help you to be honest.
Isn't casting native on the nexus ? Settings , display, cast ?
If you want to enable miracast mirroring just add this line to your build.prop
persist.debug.wfd.enable=1

It's a Samsung 5500 series smart TV. And the option on the TV is called Screen Mirroring it worked great with my M9 HTC Connect but with this 6P on my network it doesn't show the TV in Cast..
On the Samsung remote I click Source and the on the TV I scroll over to Screen Mirroring.

Yes I found this out while googling but still if I add the edit I still need to purchase a device to Cast. I'm wanting to Cast directly to the TV to play website videos to it without having to buy cables or another device.

Doing the build.prop edit will most likely work for you. Miracast is more of a streaming protocol that most tvs (most samsung tvs) that have screen casting/mirroring built in, use. Your HTC had it by default but the n6p technically does not. But can be easily enabled via the aforementioned build.prop edit.
OK I did the Build.prop edit and now when I open Cast I now have Enable wireless Network which I checked it but still doesn't see the TV ..grrr
I even downloaded AllShare app by clockwork mod and it doesn't see the TV either...
But the kicker is that my wife's Note 3 has AllShare / Mirroring built into it and it doesn't see the TV either on the network..
Surely I don't need internet on the network for it to work ?
It's a att uverse router maybe I orta ditch it and hook up my Belkin gaming router n C if it's the att wireless router causing the issue...
