Hello to all of you guys, i have a question - can the sailfish OS be installed on Xperia z1 compact ?
If doesnt yet a port for this cell , i will request for port .
Thank to all devs in advanced.
There was attempt but there is problem with GPU and AFAIK currently nobody doing it
https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris/gpu
the new unified kernels Sony pushed out recently for AOSP developers should make these sort of problems less of an issue, and make ports to Z1/Z1C / Z2 / Z3 / Z3C more possible. Z3 and particularly Z3C (as the only premium compact in Western markets) are doing very well, so there may be some interest here.
Sailfish OS SII Plus (nfc)
I was really interesting in this OS, i saw a lot of videos, read a lot of things...would be great if i coul try it on my s2 plus. If someone is interest in the developement is a great thing...otherwise i'll buy a jolla phone...so far T.T

Hi guys, I just saw SailFish has made it easier to port the OS to Android devices. Description http://www.jollausers.com/2014/07/sailfish-os-hardware-adaptation-dev-kit-release-1-0/
Anybody up to the challenge [emoji15]
Finally, been waiting for this. Hope the Z1C is compatible enough for daily usage.

As far as I can understand the announcement, they have made the porting work easier but still somebody has to do it [emoji6]
So hold your horses until some willing and capable enthusiast decides to put the effort (I am looking at you oshmoun and Omar [emoji15])

I might consider porting it, but there are many things in my to do list first, so will try after few days when I get free time (if no one has ported it then yet)

this would be great, having the of android and silfish os for xperia z1c.
Ah man!
Wish I had some space to spare on my laptop to do this
only 3-4 GB left :crying:
maybe the interest in sail fish os will increase when a stable version of sailfish launcher is out and people can test a little bit the "feel" of sailfish.
As the purpose of this thread in rather a discussion and not development I have moved it into General Section

That's sad, I don't have the knowledge to try it. Would be a dream to have the possibility to run sailfish on a z1c (and other devices).
What I saw and read about sailfish os seems to be very promising.
Damn would be so awesome to run sailfish on a z1c!!!
The best part of Sailfish on Z1c would be, doing away with onscreen navigation. I feel so @#$% not to have entire 4.3 inch screen at my disposal.
For Android there is a launcher, which is gesture based and does not need on-screen buttons. I am not sure about its name, but you will find it here on xda. I think it's called LMT...

There is a launcher for android from jolla (the company making sailfish os), called sailfish launcher. It's still an alpha, but the beta should be out in a few days (or maybe weeks).

Any News?
Hej Folks,
I was wondering wether there are any news considering the porting of Sailfish OS to our beloved Z1 Compact. Is there any possibility to do so at all? Or is it just because of the work going along with porting it? I'm a total noob and no idea how to port, but just asking.....
I'm also interesting in having SailfishOS on my Z1 compact. I can help test, if anyone is prepared to port it.
Cheers
Waiting for it, Omar said that maybe he could try to port, but... It seems that there is no interest
Enviado desde mi Z1 Compact
Omar is busy updating all his ROMs to Lollipop and making them run without bugs. I don't think he has time for this now
Hey,
are there any news on Sailfish OS für Z1c yet? I've read something about a new bootloader thing for xperia devices making it easier to install custom ROMs on those devices. I'd love to have a Sailfish OS-based phone, but am not willing to spend money for outdated specs at Jolla Phone and while my Z1c is still very much capable of most tasks.
Can't post links yet, but the news about the new bootloader stuff is i.e. on xperiablog . net
Hi everyone,
This is almost certainly a waste of time and effort, but I started a Petition at Change.org with the aim of getting Sony to offer an "alternative" ROM for their Z lineup.
This is the link:
https://www.change.org/p/sony-mobil...ence-and-fast-updates-for-the-xperia-z-lineup
What this is about? I really like the hardware on the new Sony devices, but I'm spoiled by my Nexus/Google Play Edition devices when it comes to Software and Update policies. Since the Nexus 6 is out of the question and there are currently no interesting GPE devices on the market, I thought this is better than not trying at all.
Basically, my idea is, that Sony could offer their users a choice: Go with the regular, Skinned ROM and be happy with it, or download the "alternative" factory images, that convert the device into a Nexus-Like Stock-Android device. That way, there is no need to market and sell two different versions of a device, and users can choose what they prefer. This would also be a "benchmark" for Sony, to see how many people are actually interested in Stock-Android-ROMs.
HTC does this, albeit unofficially, by offering GPE versions of their flagship devices that are exactly identical in hardware. It is possible to simply flash a Sense-Laden m7 or m8 and convert it into a fully working and compatible GPE version. Samsung makes it a bit more difficult by messing around with the GPE hardware in some way that makes a custom Kernel neccessary and prevents a full conversion. It took the devs quite some effort to fix the resulting Random Reboots on the S4...
So, if you like the idea, and want to attempt to generate some attention, I'd be grateful if you'd sign the petition and invite your friends to do the same. If not, then thanks for reading this and have a nice afterlife...
Love your enthusiasm but... No manufacturer offers alternative roms to flash - GPe is only ever an alternative device ~ and I presume you have never "converted" an M8 over to GPe (not for feint of heart, partition changes required prior to flashing any zip, much the same as Xperia Z Ultra GPe).
I think you'll find we are already spoilt more by Sony than any other manufacturer when it comes to offering AOSP and the various git offerings made available to us..

Hi there,
I am aware that nobody does this yet... But maybe it is an idea for the future. About the HTC GPE... You are right, but I'm currently using a "coverted" Galaxy S4, which is also not trivial, but entirely manageable... I'm already wondering what new quirks Samsung will invent to make flashing GPE Lollipop harder on the TW Galaxy S4 i9505... ?
Isn't CM working with Sony Devices or something ?
However, i think it's fine the way it is The Rom currently is appealing to the eye and pacey
I think we should first focus on trying to get root on lb and go from there.

no CM isnt working with them..Sony hired a maintainer/coder that was part of CM for Sony devices. he worked on other projects as well. Thank Jerplea. he is the community member that Sony hired nd he is helping offer source to help build aosp for Sony devices. Sony does a good job offering help to the dev community by giving tips, guides and source on ther developer website

Hi all,
Well what I can see is that there are no custom roms developed for the Xperia Z5 , they are very very few
by the way, I would like to give very special thanks to :
@auras76 : for his amazing "RomAur" ROM
@celderic : for the great "SlimStock" ROM ( I'm using it right now )
@AndroPlus : for the hardwork he done to make good kernels for the Z5
And for sure @zacharias.maladroit, @CTXz, @_LLJY and all the the Xperia Z5 and Sony devices developers who works in improving and optimizing our devices to get the best of them .
Back to the topic, I'm saying that because you can't get the full of your phone after rooting if you don't have many ROMs choices :crying: .
Most flagship devices of these days like the Nexus 6P and the Galaxy S6 have a very good development and you can choose between a wide variety of custom roms and mods .
I remember that every devices line had some famous roms, like the 'Android Revolution HD' for samsung's
and the 'ViperOne' for HTC's, besides AOSP ROMs like Resurrection Remix and slim rom or the popular cyanogenmod ROMS
The Z5 is my first root experience with a sony device , and it has been a bit weird and different than other devices .
I remember even for my old my old galaxy and LG handsets I had the choice to try so many ROMS and have fun with them
You think that the Z5 is stilll a new device ? Oh c'mon It was released in 2015
Maybe the Xperia Z5 is not enough popular ? Or it is maybe difficult to port ROMs for this device
I am not an expert developer so I can't say much about that
What about creating a team for development purposes ?
I think they already introduced that in the general sony devices section
[Announcement]Building a team, which WILL twist Sony Development
Or maybe you have better ideas, let us know what you think , cheers
I think the reason why there has not been much development is because the Z5 isn't easy to develop for and the AOSP kernel source and drivers (especially the camera ones) still need to be worked on by Sony, I guess we have to wait.

Hi there,
about two weeks ago, when Paranoid Android 6 was anounced, many news articles wrote about it's going to be available first for some Nexus devices, OnePlus devices and some Sony devices.
There are entries for Xperia Z3, Z3 compact, Z3 Tab Compact, Z2 and Z2 Tab on the official AOSPA download page, but none of them is filled with downloads.
When will builds be available for Xperia devices?
Greetings
There were builds, but not stable, vendor not working, camera not working, microsd not working, reboots, its like a alpha build; last I heard on Google+ Radio is fixed on all shinano, and they are currently fixing the camera. (18-JUN-2016 posted)
Hi,
As innocent as it may be, asking for ETA's can put unneeded pressure on developers, who very often do this as a hobby. Nobody wants strict timetables for a hobby.
Thanks for understanding, thread closed.
Hey,
I'd like to issue a request for Ubuntu Touch availability on Xperia Z2. I have a D6503 variant, and have been using it since '14.
Ubuntu Touch is already available (officially) on Xperia Z1 (which has a stark similarity to Z2 if you look it up). If anyone likes to check out the Z1 version:
{https}://wiki{dot}ubuntu{dot}com/Touch/Devices/minato
Also, for anyone who is interested in development:
{https}://developer{dot}ubuntu{dot}com/en/phone/devices/porting-new-device/
I'm a new user. And cannot post external links. Please replace { } signs to use the links. Sorry for that.
Thanks in advance.
I dont think this is possible for our phone, because this is very high level development and need many time.
The Z2 is an old device. You've had yours approximately 3 years.
Most people have moved on to newer devices so I doubt very much you'll have any luck with a Dev taking this on.
Also ubuntu touch is dead
If it wasn't dead, it would also be hella difficult to develop, we're basically stuck with bugged cm11 and 12.1 and no kernel for 13, so it's no good. See SailfishOS port.
