hello there,
got both of these phones and obviously dont need two,
so im thinking about selling one,
i do prefer the keyboard on the g1 but dont really like the display compared to the g2
had fastrom on the g1 and villian on the hero
which one should i keep?
Suggestions
which is more futureproof?
Imho neither is really futureproof, if you see the hardware in the recent android phones.
That said I love the keyboard on my G1 and there's no way in heck I'd trade up for a phone without one.
I've never used an LG phone before. I've always had a Samsung. And it hasn't exactly disappointed me so far.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone "recommend" any LG phone. I'm only buying this one because of it's uber specs and it's ultra low price (I can't afford a phone of this stature otherwise). Also maybe because I need a new phone. I'm currently using the Galaxy 3 (not s3).
If I buy this phone I'm going to have to get it from the US through a relative or a friend. Which basically means no warranty. And it's LG. And its battery is non removable.
What are your views on this?
Also, can someone convince me to buy this phone?
LG makes great hardware, but ruins it with their software support. Moot point here, as Google brings the updates. It's a win-win
This phone looks to have a solid build. Reminds me of the Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch, pure metal black finish.
Sounds like you don't have any experience with LG handsets. They make good hardware according to most reviews I've seen.
Just because you've never heard anything about LG handsets doesn't mean they are crap. You should go to the store and check some out for yourself.

A Korean buddy of mine told me that in Korea, Samsung is like Ford while LG is like Lexus

Why does no one give LG a chance. Everybody said they would never buy another Samsung phone. Look how that turned out. This will be a solidly built device (LG) with solidly done software(Google). It should be a no brainer from those standpoints.

The early indications are really good, hopefully it doesn't have any bugs that only come out after launch.
In China, LG is fine.
I can't believe you liked Samsung's quality. From their crappy phone days they've never made a solid looking phone. The only thing that prevented me from getting a Nexus earlier is that they were made by Samsung. I'll throw in my money and gamble with it.

Bugs will not be LG's fault
I'd only be worried about it if it weren't a nexus device. Every LG phone that's had problems has always been OS related from what I've seen and heard.
to be honest I am never going to buy samsung cause of ther crappy build body. I used note, S3, S2 and all of them had a crappy plastic body. Samsung doing it wrong look it your S2, S3 or Notes especially the body part, I am happy that google pick LG but I most expected Motorola

Bugs is the wrong word, I mean hardware faults, bad batches etc.
All devices will have some of those as well. Lg hw does not have a bad rep but every mass produced device has issues. The 7 had more than I can remember for a device in recent memory though.
The glass on the back will most likely by the thing everyone will complain about. Because it will break.
For example I think it was either Anand or Brian's iPhone 5 that actually had the screen separated from the device. He pushed it back in and it clipped in place. Later it came off again.
I have a reason to be skeptical about another lg phone. As a previous owner of an lg g2x, I was not happy with it. And yes the lg g2x was a Google phone with pure android and it sucked, lg support for it was horrible.

Stock android /= nexus. LG was the one making the updates, and it had to get them through T-Mobile to boot. Your point is moot

Indeed, and as far as i know it wasn't even stock android, atleast the european version weren't.
LG = Decent hardware, wank software support.
Since Google are dealing with the software, this should be pretty good.
in my country, this phone will have 0 resale price.. why?
coz its from lg..
and arabs are dumb enough to pay 1300$ for an iphone 5 they dun even know how to use..
on the bright side, my first lg jus got sold for this phone.. software sucked with locked bootloader..
but build quality was AMAZING
even better than my evo3d
LG makes good quality hardware, but the software isnt great and the ui lg uses is like using touchwiz 3.
But as software is handled by google, im willing to buy this one!
Not another one of these stupid threads

I have a LG G2 with AT&T that I love. I also have the Sony Smartwatch 2 which is good but doesnt really compare against the Samsung Gear (for my needs).
I would love to keep the LG G2 (I switched from a S4 and compared to the LG G2, the screen on the LG G2 is much better, my opinion)
I did a search and noticed that this question was asked before but it has been a while.
I know the Gear has been working almost flawlessly with the HTC One. I am wondering if anyone has tried it with the LG G2 lately with any luck?
The last thing I want to do is switch back to the S4 just for the Gear.
Thanks

I just want Google to come out with a Nexus watch so it can work with any Android smartphone. I don't know if Samsung in the 2nd generation of the Galaxy Gear will open it up to all Android devices or keep it to themselves to make it exclusive so that you have to buy a Samsung smartphone.
They'll keep it exclusive, because that is what apple would do.

I concur. Why limit your potential clients. It's not like there is anything advanced going on there. I'm sure the software and programming is hacked to hell first, to make it work, and second, to keep it exclusive though. Might make it very difficult to make it universally open. We'll have to see what happens, though I won't be picking it up. I hate Samsung hardware.
I'm sure LG will jump on the boat. Apple, Samsung, Sony, and Motorola all have watches in the pipe or being released soon, so it's just a matter of time.

I have the Sony SW2 and paired with my LG G2. The watch is... well.. Ok. I really hope LG release something with their Flex screen technology and one that is more functional than the SW2. :good:

Funny you mention the flex screen. This is why I have almost no doubt a watch will be released. Rather than have a slab for a screen, they can create a watch that curves with the wrist. In addition, the ultra low power requirements of OLED screens will lead to outstanding battery life.
I would definately prefer a Nexus watch or LG watch (assuming they are better than the Gear). I have the Sony SmartWatch 2, and its very very weak comparing to the Gear.
It may not be that easy making a smartwatch. Look at Sony, they are a Monster company that has been making some pretty smart watches for at least 50 years. I would have thought they would have the best smartwatch. But its Samsung who currently hold the crown.
Back to the topic, Anyone tried getting the Gear to work with the LG G2. We seriously dont get that much support here for the G2 vs HTC One and S4 etc.
With a tear in my eye I announce that I went out and bought a Samsung Gear and Samsung S4. I have retired my G2 and will sell it on craigslist (along with the Sony SmartWatch 2). Going from S4 to G2 to S4 really makes you appreciate the G2. Hopefully someone figures out a way to get the Gear to work with the G2 in the next month or so. Oh G2... you will be missed.
Hi guys,
first of all i have to say i love xda and its developers! Every smartphone i owned has got a custom rom on it.
So you've probably heard this question a billion times. i can get a lg g2 for 350 euro (+ a metalic skin for 10 euro). the problem is that in 2 weeks the lg g3 will come out and it will cost 550 euro (awesome flipcover for free!). so while 550 euro is quite overbudget to me, i keep wondering if the 200 euro is worth it considering the larger screen, free flipcover, awesome design and the much needed micro sd slot and of course the gorgeous ui! i'm not planning on putting a custom rom on my lg g2 right right so it bugs me a bit knowing lg wont put the new ui on it. So what is the best value for money considering i will probably stick to the g3 a bit longer?
sorry for my bad English, i'am Belgian
Thanks a lot guys and keep up the good work
its tough, depends on your needs. There is a good thread in general section called will you ditch your lg g2 when g3 comes. There are some comments that will help you make a choice.

g2 is better value cause it still has good specs. However g3 is new, latest. Lot going for it.
Oneplus one is also nice if you can get an invite hahah

Before someone deleted this thread I'll have to say that always go for the newer phone unless you already had a G2 than the upgrade might not be much and display and battery life are questionable watch Erica griffins video.

could not agree more, let's hope the phone actually makes it to global availability because it is still damn good value for money
How is Lg with updates? I was planning to buy a L g g2 but somethings are stopping me for that. I hate plastic and I don't like the idea of purchasing with a bad build quality phone, and the biggest one. I have never owned a Lg phone, is there any chance for an update to Andorid L, and the new interface in Lg g3.
Thank you
If you have doubts, then you should buy something else.
