As the title says i have done extensive research into the paperwork provided with my z2 and even emailed sony's service support and have gotten back a positive response/email which i will show to them if they ever refuse to cover my device under warrenty
I will attach a screenshot of the email theyve sent ,as long as the flaps are closed properly and the device is within and does not exceed ip rating limits they are legally required to replace or repair your z2
Id like your guys opinions and expiriences ,have they ever denied you replacement/repair under warrenty due to water damage ?
By the way i live in ireland , so the tech support and general suport from sony tends to be pretty god here
Their international warrenty does not cover water damage, Region spesific or who you purchased it from may be different

Do you have your's Z2 from a network or unlocked version? Cause I'm in Ireland and I got Z2 on Vodafone Bill Pay, so it would be nice if the water damage warrenty applied to me.

Actually got mine from meteor bill pay but it should apply to you aswell I think as it was the Sony service center I contacted so you should be covered aswell no matter the network
I actually tested my handset out in some water yesterday, left if for about a minute submerged in the sink with all the flaps closed and it's completely fine

Really simple question or is it...? (Pleace read post 4, for more information)
QUESTION:
Is warrenty void if you remove the shatter proof display protector?
I see in Sony forum some new answers, that sony may have changed their politics in this area, but is that true or not?
If warrenty is still void removing the protector, is it then for the whole handset, or perhaps only for the eg. display related faults?
It shuldnt matter anyway if the protector was removed, if you later on have eg. a faulty gsm module or something like that, not related to the protector it self in any way...
I believe it's best to call to your authorized repair service and ask them.. I'm from Slovenia and my bro is working with phones (not sony) and about a year ago when he asked they said it does void the warranty if you remove the protector. It might be changed by now, but I didn't bother asking as I have tempered glass protection over it so it can't be scratched..
Anyway, some people say that repair service in their country confirmed it does not void some said it does... just find out who's responsible for the repair in your country and call them
O think thats crazy that sony change their policy because people rrmoved protector after buying and what now? Or what now if you have replaced by glass protector?
From the first xperia smartphones, Sony have claimed warrenty void if the protector was removed, but now ?
I am not so shure anymore...
However, if you are unhappy with the appearance of the scratch, we would advise that all of our handsets do have an anti-shatter proof film on their displays, this is likely to be where the scratch is on your handset. This is removable and does not affect your warranty if you take this off. However, this may affect the durability of the handset's display.
*
I hope that this helps.

This say pretty clear that you can go ahead and remove the anti-shatter protector...
But is he right, or do that perhaps only apply to UK customers ??

Also i have seen this statement:
I can not see any reason as to why you would be rejected from repair because of*removing the shatterproof film from your Sony Xperia Z1 Compact*but you are more than welcome to use this email as evidence if you wish to do so if you are infact rejected.
There was some confusion surrounding this until last month when we all at the contact centre received an email stating that it will NOT void warranty removing the film however if the customer wishes to have it put back on it is not a warranty repair and they will be charged for it.
We hope this clears things up for you.

Hello people,
If you are thinking about getting any OnePlus product, especially the new OnePlus one or two, please read this before you jump the gun and spend your hard earned cash.I will share my ownership experience with you so that you don't do the same mistake of buying OnePlus as I did.I am attaching the email that I sent to them after my phone gone bad
“Hello OnePlus,
My name is Rajesh Bhuin, a proud owner of Oneplus One 64 GB until one day when the speakers of my
phone stopped working all of a sudden. I searched through your forum and most people told me that it was probably a faulty speaker which is quite common for OnePlus one. So I took my phone to Service Center which is a good 300 Km away from where I live. Upon inspecting my phone, the service guy told me that the fault is with the motherboard and not with the speakers. And the probable reason is due to water damage as the water indicator sticker had become red. So my warranty is now void and it will cost around Rs. 19000 to change the motherboard. I assured him that I have NOT exposed my phone to water by any means.
So after further throughout inspection he told me that there were absolutely no other traces of water inside the phone and the sticker
had changed its color probably because of vapor condensation insidethe phone. He also suggested me to write to you about the issue as itwas not any way my fault.
So I request you to please look in this matter so that my phone can beserviced and I can get the remaining warranty back. You can confirmthe matter from the service guy,I have provided his email id with his permission. Also please let me know if you need any further details.
RegardsRajesh Bhuin

After two days a Oneplus representative the called me. I explained him the situation. I also told him I am willing to pay the sum if they could only change the affected part. He told me that they will look into the matter and will get back to me.The very next day he called me again and told me that they couldn't do anything as the sticker turned red even if the phone was never exposed to any liquid. Also the phone can not be repaired without changing the motherboard!
Well now you know that is how they treat their customers. They say there are always compromises when buying a cheap product.I guess for one plus this is the compromise "NO WARRANTY SERVICE " even though it is not exactly cheap. On paper their product might look good but this is the built quality you get. A flagship grade phone which gets damaged for no reason!. And even if it gets damaged you can not just repair it, you have to buy a new phone. This can happen to you too!Think about it before you buy it.
Thanks for reading.
i just buy its
Dude, this probably will surprise you,but this sh*t happens to "famous" iPhone and Samsung and LG and any other expensive and superb brand too,one to the million but surely happens. You just had a bad luck with the device thats all, i`m using this awesome phone more than a year and its perfect and many others like me too i`m sure about it.
I don't see why you're complaining about OnePlus in particular. It's standard protocol for a warranty to be voided when the liquid detection stickers have been tripped, and this is true for all manufacturers/suppliers. How on earth is a manufacturer supposed to distinguish between someone who honestly hasn't had any water damage, and someone who has had water damage but is claiming to not have had any. They can't. You're expecting them to make an exception for you? Why? You're no more special than any other customer. Sure, you might have be gotten unlucky with this, but you can't expect special treatment just because you say the phone has no water damage, and you can't blame OnePlus for something that is an industry wide standard.
If those liquid markers changed color. You had your phone in a heavily humid area and or talking on the phone in the rain, kept the phone in a steamed up shower, etc. I know all manufacturers have limitations on proper environments and bad environments from temp, humidity, etc.
Pretty sure any phone manufacturer would void your warranty under these circumstances, that's why they have water indicator. How else are they supposed to judge whether you got your phone wet and caused the damage yourself?

This is so fake.
I had to change my phone and had problems to. They took 1 month to reply, but solved my issue in 1 week. Sent the phone and next week the new phone was back.
My girlfriend, had a small accident with the phone, paid for the repair which is a flat fee, and also was 1 week.
Oneplus doesn't have a repair center. You went there on your own, this things are solved via ticket, and they send you a new phone, while the other goes on repair.

600km road trip to get your phone assessed at a repair center? Lol...
Hey guys im new here and i wanted to share my experience with all of you about repair centre(in Germany)
so my z3 has a factory defect (yellowish scrren on the underside of the display , where the navigation buttons are)
and a dent near the earphone jack because i dropped the phone on the earphone jack while exercising (my fault)
After describing my defects on the report i signed and send the repair order on the 3 of august (online) , but send my phone in on the 10. of august. i send the phone and the charger with a box sony send to me.
at first no sign beside (Device received) (11.08)on the Mysupport page
and no email notification about my repair status at all (you need to work on this sony)
but then Saturday (14.08) i got an email that states my device is on its way back to me
I was't home that day so i just received my device today (DHL's fault , sony already send the device on Friday)
after checking the display , it got fixed under warranty they also check the charger ,and to my surprise the dent on the aerphone jack also gone (they also replace the Alunimium frame), and the earphone jack feels new. They even gave me a new back and front screen protector.
i am hoping the repair status would be more informative.
but hey ,I am now a happy customer ,and prepared to sing a praise for your wonderful service, thank you very much sony
phone bootloader is locked , and i flashed kitkat firmware before sending it in (unroot)
It looks like You're just lucky or you got a good service centre in your country's xperia care is the good one. Because in some countries, their service centre is a joke.
I ordered my xperia l's back cover there and didn't get it until now (from 3 weeks ago) but they promised it will not take long times

Indeed - well, in the UK it is a company called SBE Ltd.
I've had a similar experience to you recently. My phone got very hot just sitting on the side discolouring the screen on one side and unsticking the screen ruining the waterproofing. I sent mine in and heard nothing for about 6 working days then suddenly got an email saying my repair had been delayed and the next day another email saying it was on its way to me. They seem to have replaced my screen and the magnetic charging port at the very least :good:

yea i think sony need some kind of positive review. beacuse when you google xperia service centre usually bad review comes up :crying:
The phone worked underwater as it had done many times before.
(I know I know water resistant not proof)
Although this time one hour after being removed from the water and dried the phone bricked.
It's been a day or so now and still no sign of life. Is the phone a goner or is it possible to repair it?
(I've seen some people selling water repair on ebay is that a thing which works?)
Thank you
get someone to register it with their bank and claim insurance

wow sucks, but in order to get the IP rating back and fully tested from that u should send it in to a samsung service center. repair is one thing, but u want the phone to be able to witstand liquid like before so the ip protection must be tested after repair.

So a repair is possible then? I don't mind so much if this time around it is not fully protected as I wouldn't take it in water again.
i dropped my beloved s8 . the front glass has smashed it is rooted and now i am going to have to try and get it fixed with the insurance which covers accidental damage. has anyone successfully got a phone fixed by vodafone uk after root? i know rooting voids warranty but this is not warranty it is after sales insurance and screen damage has nothing to do with root.
any advice?
there is no mention of root in the terms and conditions for my insurance so i think i should be ok https://www.vodafone.co.uk/terms-an...itions/vodafone-accidental-damage/index.htm#1
the only part that refers to modification in any way is this
If your mobile device has been modified in any way we will only
replace the mobile device, we do not cover the modifications that
have been made.
Modifications are anything that changes the way your mobile device
looks or operates from the original specifications. This includes things
like adding gems, precious metals or making software changes such as
unlocking your mobile device from a network
so sounds like i may be in luck. fingers crossed. i will visit the vodafone shop tomorrow and see how things go.

They can huff and puff at first but UK is still EU member so they need to comply with EU directive. And I told you that from my own experience. Well not really a warranty issue. But last year I returned an Galaxy S7 to Carphone Warehouse under their "14 days change your mind policy". That S7 still had Omega rom installed. Didn't bothered to return to stock.
Your phone has a Hardware issue, so you shouldn't worry about being rooted.
Rooting doesn't void warranty in the us either, despite what the carriers say.
They can huff and puff all they want, but it's illegal in the us to refuse to honor a warranty repair caused by something unrelated to customization of a device. Turns out all they have to do is say they won't honor it and most people won't even try.
I'm pretty sure rooting can't smash your screen, so you're in the clear ?
phone was returned to vodafone today. they say i should have it back in one week and gave me a ****ty vodafone smart ultra 7 to use as a courtesy phone......going back to a terrible carrier branded android phone really has made me see just how lovely the s8 is......i want my baby back :'(
I am very happy to say they fixed my phone with no complaint about it being rooted. they repaced the front glass, the back glass, the lcd and the side casing. its now as good as new and i am very happy to have my s8 back!
