I actually reckon we shouldn't get a date.. Issues may pop up that may delay release.. Remember the feeling of frustration when Punit Soni announced that Dev editions would be released in days and it didn't happen for weeks?

Funny you mention that:
"We are moving directly to 4.4. I dont like to discuss timing. It just puts a lot of stress on the team, and there is always a chance we find something which delays us a bit.
Rest assured, we are on it. You have seen the speed with which we are moving as a Google company, that shall continue."

I'm just looking forward to all the awesome things we have in store; just got my MotoX yesterday and got it activated today; less than 12 hours with an activated and working phone, and I love everything it does already. Getting 4.4 is just icing on the cake for me.
Don't get me wrong.. I'm equally impatient lol... But then again, the Moto X runs amazingly on 4.2.2 already

The bootloader does not have to be relocked! just make sure that you flash back to stock format including your recovery. And you'll be able to take any and all updates. After you update to Kit Kat you should be able to flash superuser zip in CWM or TWRP. To gain Root.

OK that makes sense, I can always restore back to stock then.
I'm keeping my hopes high and my expectations low. I still remember the Atrix after all. New Motorola or not, even if they plan to ship out 4.4 quickly, there is still the carrier issue. I'll believe it when the soak invites go out.

I kept telling all you guys that Motorola was skipping 4.3 and going directly for kit Kat now its come to fruition. You're welcome
Hi,
I have my moto x with the last OTA, i kept root with a tuto that's here.
I want to flash the stock firmware with rsd, my question is if it will take it as downgrade.
I want to wait for KitKat un-rooted.
Thanks
From all the leaked screenshots we can see, android 5.0 looks exactly like the kitkat LG UI. We are not getting the pure, stock lollipop(like white drawer etc). So, if we are going to loose unlocked bootloader, do we really need it?
Nobody is forcing you to upgrade. If you don't like the theme LG is using then stick with what you're using now.

If I understand you right there is two questions in what you wrote:
1. is LG keeping their signature UI design in the upcoming upgrade Android 5.0?
Answer: yes because this is always how it has been and will continue to be, valid not only for LG. Exception of course Play editions for some makes. Pure Google/AOSP UI look without LG launcher/apps will always be via custom roms.
2. Will I loose my Bumb/unlocked bootloader if I take the official upgrade?
Answer: not sure that will work either, but ya one could loose ability to bump bootloader after flashing official update. As soon as the upgrade is official some stock rooted roms will pop up ready to be flashed. There is even a leaked android 5.0 around now

There's more, MUCH more, to 5.0 than just the UI. To be honest, the visual changes are actually secondary to the system changes as far as I am concerned. I'm far more interested in the power management updates, camera enhancements, etc... Material design is basically window dressing.

Why did you think LG s going to release a AOSP looking L ?
Most of what you see in stock is just the Lollipop Now Launcher, which is limited and to my eyes ugly as sin. All that white is just horrible.
Most of the rest in the G3 is similar to the same as stock. Either way ill be using Nova, so its fine.
They will be changing it a bit

[DEV][REF]How to add root support to LL boot.img
As long as you dont install the new bootloader, you can keep TWRP.
They figured out that the new boot.img could be bumped and flashed in the old bootloader.

Also, although @autoprime has confirmed the release of Android L for the D855 does not implement anti-rollback, this does not mean that other variants will not implement something to keep us from going back to previous software versions, then you may be stuck with Android L but no root or TWRP permanently

So For now we can but with other new Ver. of L-5.0 we don't know
To keep things clean on the CM13 thread, this thread is for discussing Android 7.0 Nougat for the Moto G (2015)
Here is a list of the available 7.0 ROMs for our phone
AOSP: [ROM][7.0][osprey] The Android Open Source Project
CM14: [ROM][MSIM][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 14 For Moto G 2015 [BETA] ---> Flash this if you have a dual-sim device
Screenshots provided by Alberto97
Thanks to @Alberto97 for getting Nougat up and running.
Thank you!
You think that is possible to receive official 7.0?
I don't think Lenovomoto would push through an official Android 7.0, reason being:
- Vulkan is not supported on the 410 SoC
- My partner stock Moto G 2015 still at 6.0 and not 6.0.1 (Asia Pacific model, not Indian version which has 6.0.1)...edited..
Otherwise we'll have to wait for the CM14 and I hope everyone contributes to our very own devs who put their hard work into providing this ROM to our device in our community. I know I sure am...

I think that we will get official Nougat for the following reasons
- Vulkan is not mandatory for 7.0, and Vulkan is used alongside Open GL-ES anyway so that shouldn't be a worry
- The Moto G3 is only a year old and has only really received one major software upgrade (5.1.1 --> 6.0/6.0.1). In comparison, the Moto G2 has gone from Kitkat to Lollipop to Marshmallow and I can't see Lenovorola giving Nougat to the Moto G2
Update or no update, we WILL have some form of stable AOSP/CM flavour of 7.0 in the near future anyway
Can't wait guys!! This may be one of the few times I donate!!

If anyone else wants to say this, you have three options:
1. Thank one of those posts to show you agree
2. Just wait and realise we all already know you want a nougat
3. Realise that you're not making sense. If you can't wait, that means you are unable to wait, but you are currently waiting, so you're doing the impossible. So really you can wait, you just don't want to wait, and I'm being too analytical.

Seriously?
Mo Versi tweated a little more than a week ago that it was set to "go to labs." That could mean anything.
Questions like this don't get much traction on XDA. Best to avoid questions starting with "when....".
Well I was curious also so I'm glad he did ask the question. Not everyone uses Twitter so thanks for the answer. Seriously.
Nice laid back group here.
HTC promised first quarter. Just like they did with nougat. Last year the nougat update hit March 30th. The very last day of the first quarter. I really expect Verizon to drop Oreo on the 10 in the next couple days. March 30th is close. We shall see.
I did a full conversion of my verizon phone over to us_unlocked and flashed oreo. I was rather unhappy with oreo on the device. Its complicated to get back to nougat if you want to OTA properly. i wrote a guide and have all the tools together if you think it will be of use.

When Oreo finally comes out for the Verizon HTC 10, it won't support Treble, so it will basically be a kludged Oreo anyway, because: (1) HTC will end-of-life the device; and (2) HTC may less-than-gracefully exit the North American cell phone market once it releases its next flagship, gradually backing out as each device e-o-l's (is that a verb transitive?) So the last real ROM will be the current Nougat ROM.
It'll be up to developers to support the device with security updates, etc. at that point.
As for me, as long as my fingerprint scanner holds out and I don't see a better device, I'll stick to my 10.

LMAO. Thanks for the laugh! See https://source.android.com/devices/architecture/treble.
Treble is a platform for updates where the device has "A" and "B" partitions, such that an update can be done to the "A" partition while the "B" partition is booted. It's an easier upgrade path....and it won't be coming to the 10.

The current TWRP release will allow you to flash ROMs and install Magisk and things like that. I get that it's annoying it won't decrypt anything yet, but you can easily work around that still.

The official TWRP Device listings (history) would lean in the direction of an official version coming (all past OP devices have official support):
https://twrp.me/Devices/OnePlus/
When it's available,it won't be a secret,everyone will know soon enough.
Not to seem superior, but, your question is akin to asking for an ETA. No one would ask the question of if without an expectation of when.
While XDA rules don't explicitly state asking what/when is prohibited, asking if or when doesn't speed up the process & it tends to piss off some of those who work on various projects.
If the devs wanted to give a progress update,it'd been posted already.
If you looked around,it's obvious several people are working on it,
