I took the plunge and bought the G900V knowing it might not work on Bell here in canada, but thankfully it did and flawlessly.
However the phone refuses to recognize any SD cards I plug in. I've tried a 4GB, 8GB, 32GB and 64GB card all of which my i9300 is able to read with no problem.
Every time I plug in the card, it doesn't mount. If I hit "Mount SD card" it says Preparing SDCard, then seconds later says it unmounted it.
nevermind... it appears while yes it is a lemon, it's verizons fault with the 4.4.4 update. SDCards work perfectly fine using 4.4.2

I pulled the SIM card out last night on my Note 3 and then put it back in. After booting up , the phone showed a "No SIM Card" error. I have tried to re-seat the card and have rebooted many times and it still does not work. My old Note 2 is being used by my son so I put his SIM card in my phone and it works just fine so obviously its a bad SIM card at this point which I confirmed by putting it in the Note 2 and it said the "No SIM Card" error. At this point I just need to go to Version and get a new SIM card. The question I have is, do I need to wipe my phone and put it back to a stock Rom or will Verizon just give me a new SIM and ignore the fact that it rooted? This issue really isn't a warranty situation so I was hoping to not have to go through all of that.

Why not use your son's Note 2 (unless it's also rooted) and get a new SIM Card? It doesn't matter which phone the sim card is put in, as long as it is associated with a Verizon phone number. Then you can switch the card back. I don't know if Verizon keeps track of "rooted" phones by customers in case you try to reset your phone to original and then claim a warranty.
Just my $0.02.
Cheers,
B.D.
I went ahead and did a Nandroid backup and then reverted it to stock and will switch back after.

I usually swap sim cards with my phones when i need to and never have a problem. One time it wouldn't read and i had to use a screen cleaning cloth to wipe it off and it worked again.

i was on 4.4.2 and took the 4.4.4 OTA last night. when it was all done, the phone would not recognize my SD card, saying either that it was a corrupted card or prompting me to insert the card. I rebooted several times, removed and reinserted the card over and over, and it would not recognize. I don't have another card to test the slot, but it seems too coincidental that my card, which was working fine on 4.4.2, is now completely unreadable and unrecognized on 4.4.4.
has anyone else run into this issue? the card is a 32 GB Transcend microSD.
**EDIT* i just popped the card into my SIII (running 4.4.2), and it reads the card just fine. i can listen to music on the phone, and it's also recognized when i connect the phone to my PC. is there an issue with microSD cards going from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4?
I had the same issue as you. Are you on the NI2 update from a couple of days ago? When I took the first 4.4.4 update a week ago (NHA) my sd card started to mount, umount and become corrupt randomly throughout the day. Once I took the OTA for the latest update, I haven't had any issues.
I updated to 4.4.4 three days ago, and the 32gb Class 10 San Disk Micro SD card performed great before and after. I went to NI2 yesterday, and again no issue with the SD card. I am un-rooted, both updates via OTA.
So I put 4.4.4 NI2 on my phone today. Noticed that the phone was not recognizing the card. Put the card in another Verizon Galaxy S5 runnning 4.4.2 NCG and it recognized the card. Put the card in a microSD card reader in my PC and it recognized it. I backed up everything formatted it on both the NCG phone and Windows, but still can't get the card to recognize on my phone running 4.4.4 NI2. I should mention here the card worked fine before the update. I was able to get another 16GB card to work in the 4.4.4 phone. It is just strange. Has anyone else experienced this weirdness? Oh, the card that is giving me problems is a Sandisk Ultra 64GB SDxc. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Same problem with same versions and 64GB Card.

Same problem with 2 Sandisk Ultra 64 GB micro SD cards. Start immediately after accepting the 4.4.4 update. I receive an error that says the card is damaged try reformatting. I have a Sandisk 32 GB that seems to be fine. I hope a fix will come soon.
This problem came up before.

Per that thread, it started with the NHA update and fixes itself when they updated to NI2.

Yes, my problem started at NHA, but I still have the issue on NI2.
I had 2 different sd card that would not / could not be recognized or formatted on a fresh factory reset NI2. I reverted back to NE9 and had no problems with either card. For what its worth.
Hello
I'm having a problem getting my G2 to recognize the SIM card. I just did a glass/digitizer/LCD/casing replacement and everything else is working no problems. I put the card in my old phone and no problems with the card. Looking into the card reader all the pins seem to be intact. You can see the marks on the SIM card chip from the pins. The device is rooted. My next step is to do a backup and reflash the factory ROM. I can't really see this being the problem though...
Any other ideas?
Just unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP and root etc. on MXP all working.
SD card is now not seen by phone and not when connected to pc by cable. Card works in pc and moto g 2014.
Sandisk Extreme 32GB
I've searched but cannot find anything.
Thanks in advance.
Just tried connecting it using an OTG + adapter and it is recognized but still not when in the SD holder in the phone????

Still no fix. Factory data reset. Reformatted SD card to exFAT. Still not seen.????
Can't see this as a hardware problem. Please, anyone...

Phone sent to repairer in Manchester (UK) who said they could fix it; had it for nearly a month. Finally said it was not repairable. Sent it back boot looping and flat battery. I managed with fastboot to restore stock ROM then rooted again. So now it is as before, working correctly but no SD card recognition. The pins in the reader look unbent.
Do I give up on this?? Is there a software fix or command I can try? Mainboard damage?
It all seemed to happen when I unlocked rooted etc.

It seems like it's hardware problem that's is why it ain't recognized.
But Better trying more you should flash new row after clearing all cache / Dalvik cache etc and check it whether it works or not??
It still you face same problem try to repair your phone again through service Centre again may be luck by chance problem sortout or if not.
Better to give it up on it.

I have the same problem after putting the sdcard tray back in the wrong direction. Sdcard doesn't work since then because some pins in the tray are damaged and won't make contact anymore. I lost warranty and can live without, but you can try to fix it under warranty. Maybe they won't even notice you unlocked the bootloader.

Is it possible that rooting the phone made the SD card reader problem or just a coincidence?

don't restore flash the whole stock firmware again. see if it works.
That is what I did. Flashed the latest stock firmware. I didn't mean restore.
