[Q] "No SIM Card" - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I pulled the SIM card out last night on my Note 3 and then put it back in. After booting up , the phone showed a "No SIM Card" error. I have tried to re-seat the card and have rebooted many times and it still does not work. My old Note 2 is being used by my son so I put his SIM card in my phone and it works just fine so obviously its a bad SIM card at this point which I confirmed by putting it in the Note 2 and it said the "No SIM Card" error. At this point I just need to go to Version and get a new SIM card. The question I have is, do I need to wipe my phone and put it back to a stock Rom or will Verizon just give me a new SIM and ignore the fact that it rooted? This issue really isn't a warranty situation so I was hoping to not have to go through all of that.

Why not use your son's Note 2 (unless it's also rooted) and get a new SIM Card? It doesn't matter which phone the sim card is put in, as long as it is associated with a Verizon phone number. Then you can switch the card back. I don't know if Verizon keeps track of "rooted" phones by customers in case you try to reset your phone to original and then claim a warranty.
Just my $0.02.
Cheers,
B.D.

I went ahead and did a Nandroid backup and then reverted it to stock and will switch back after.

I usually swap sim cards with my phones when i need to and never have a problem. One time it wouldn't read and i had to use a screen cleaning cloth to wipe it off and it worked again.

[Q] A501: Internal 3G modem dead?

Hi all,
I have an Iconia A501 which was sent me from the customer service in exchange of another one with bad pixels. Yesterday, for the first time, I put my simcard in the slot, then I got the usual message "Simcard inserted or removed, the tablet will restart". Then it restarts itself, but I still get "Insert a SIM Card", just like it wasn't there. So, basically, the tablet can recognize when I insert or remove the sim card but then it's not used. I'm in Italy and, AFAIK, it shouldn't be SIM locked since the old tablet was working fine. I also tried with other sim cards, of various carriers, but nothing works. So, the question is: is the internal 3G modem dead? What can I do to investigate the issue? I tried with two roms, Taboonay 2.2 and Harkon 1.0, which both should support the internal modem.
Thanks for any clue.

Check your build.prop file, and make sure it has a # in front of ro.carrier=wifi-only.Should be at the end of the file.
Or, you can just check to see that you have the wireless 3g menus in the settings.
Make sure the sim is oriented correctly in the slot. there is a very tiny image to show how (unfortunatly it took me 10 minutes to figgure this out)
Don't insert it with the tab on. Might explain the reboot. Never tried it, just a guess. Might even cook the sim, one never knows.
Go back to recovery, do your 3 mandatory wipes, and try Harkon rom. It's a 501 specific.
I get the message every once in awhile but usually a reboot fixes it.
You may just need to reverse your steps, remove with tab on. Shut down. Reboot. Shut down and insert sim, then boot it up.

With the old tablet I didn't need to shut it down before inserting the sim... so i can't se why it should be needed now everything rom related doesn't help too, I even de-rooted, even list CWM, and yet it doesn't work.

If you read the instruction manual it actually says to insert the sim/ sd card while the Tab is OFF - DON'T INSERT WHILE POWER IS ON...
Now I know its fun to try things out, however, when it comes to things of this nature I tend to follow the instructions...
Why not give it a try and see if it works. Look at it this way, it couldn't hurt...
Ok... I turned off the Tablet then inserted the sim and turned it on again. Guess what? Nothing changes The sim is still not recognized. I called the tech support and the tablet is going away for repair/substitution tomorrow

I got to say, your panic is not going to help. First I want you to take a deep breath, and relax. Now, in order for us to help you. We need to have more information. More specifically, the following: Do you have roo. boot loader unlocked? What carrier are you using? What ROM and kernel you're using? Is your sim good? Are you using a micro sim? What radioband you're using? Is your sim card adapter slot damaged? Is your imei bad? Now you need to put this in a detailed explanation with what you have done with your device up until the point in where your phone stopped working.
stock room, one week old device, no root or nothing similar, the phone doesn't show imei number just blank window (*#06#)

If it's stock and all you did was do an OTA upgrade to 4.2.2 have you tried talking to your carrier? Being only a week old I would use their assistance to your advantage especially if you did not unlock/root the device. (not sure how you came across the sim card, if it was sold with the phone like it was with mine at T-Mobile, or if you just got the phone and then used a sim from the carrier).
but t mobile will send nexus to repair's for a month so do not want to be w/o my phone for so long.I'd like to solve it home...

[Q] I9505 Won't Read Sim Card

hi,
My Galaxy S4 I9505 won't read my sim card anymore. I just bought it today afternoon and it was working for a while, then I received a pop up message saying that the phone does not contain a simcard and the phone then rebooted. Since then the phone will not read my simcard and I keep getting the 'Insert Sim Card' message. I tried a variety of sim cards just to make sure it wasn't my simcard that was an issue and non of the sim cards can be recognised by the phone. Is there a way I can fix this?

Try to do a factory reset. If the problem still persists, then it could be the hardware.

[Q] Galaxy S4 SIM Card Removed/ Invalid SIM

I have my Galaxy S4 for a while now, and through out its history I have messed with it a lot.
I think it first happend when I updated my ROM to the newest Omega version, and every once in a while I was getting a Sim Card remobed error, and only restart now option - after each restart it worked normally until the next time.
Straight after I switched phone company and got a new sim, I started getting Invalid Sim card error after the forced restart, but not every time. To get it to work I had to restart the phone many times until it decided to work.
At first I thought the problem was with the Firmware, and tried to return to stock - but it didn't work.
Than I thought, maybe it is a hardware issue, replacing the sim slot didn't help.
The last option is replacing the SIM but it makes no sense because it works on otger phones, and the problem started with my previous SIM card.

Sim card not detected

Hey, I've had my Moto X Pure (XT1575) for a bit over a year now, and it's been great up until I updated it to 7.0 a week ago. It has been saying "No SIM card" and I have been unable to do much with it. Rebooting the phone will fix the issue and cell service will work for for about 5 minutes, then it disconnects again. Taking the sim card out and putting it back in will also fix it for about 5 minutes. I have cleaned the sim card and port, but that has not helped. I have also tried factory resetting the phone but the issue is still there, even during setup. The phone is running stock android with a locked bootloader. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Replace the SIM card...
Check if another SIM card is working fine with the phone or not. If yes, then you need to follow what acejavelin has suggested above.
