hi,
My Galaxy S4 I9505 won't read my sim card anymore. I just bought it today afternoon and it was working for a while, then I received a pop up message saying that the phone does not contain a simcard and the phone then rebooted. Since then the phone will not read my simcard and I keep getting the 'Insert Sim Card' message. I tried a variety of sim cards just to make sure it wasn't my simcard that was an issue and non of the sim cards can be recognised by the phone. Is there a way I can fix this?

Try to do a factory reset. If the problem still persists, then it could be the hardware.

Can be a hardware problem since none of the sim cards seem to be working on your phone.
Contact your service provider if the phone is still under warranty.
Had the same problem myself. I'm waiting for my warranty replacement to arrive, hoping it's an upgrade to the 1.2.
On my ZTE blade, When i put a sim card into the phone i get the message 'No Sim Detected'
So it does not know that a sim card has been inserted
The IMEI is clean and it has not been blocked
the sim is making perfect contact with the contacts
I have tried re-installing my Cyanogen Rom but no luck?
What could cause this and how can it be fixed,
Thankyou
Tried it on another ROM?
Tried a different SIM Card?
I pulled the SIM card out last night on my Note 3 and then put it back in. After booting up , the phone showed a "No SIM Card" error. I have tried to re-seat the card and have rebooted many times and it still does not work. My old Note 2 is being used by my son so I put his SIM card in my phone and it works just fine so obviously its a bad SIM card at this point which I confirmed by putting it in the Note 2 and it said the "No SIM Card" error. At this point I just need to go to Version and get a new SIM card. The question I have is, do I need to wipe my phone and put it back to a stock Rom or will Verizon just give me a new SIM and ignore the fact that it rooted? This issue really isn't a warranty situation so I was hoping to not have to go through all of that.

Why not use your son's Note 2 (unless it's also rooted) and get a new SIM Card? It doesn't matter which phone the sim card is put in, as long as it is associated with a Verizon phone number. Then you can switch the card back. I don't know if Verizon keeps track of "rooted" phones by customers in case you try to reset your phone to original and then claim a warranty.
Just my $0.02.
Cheers,
B.D.
I went ahead and did a Nandroid backup and then reverted it to stock and will switch back after.

I usually swap sim cards with my phones when i need to and never have a problem. One time it wouldn't read and i had to use a screen cleaning cloth to wipe it off and it worked again.

Hi,
I got a very strange problem.
When I put my sim inside my Galaxy s4 I get "No sim - please Insert sim" error.
When I put my sim in other devices - Everything works fine.
When I put other sim cards inside my Galaxy S4 - everything works fine.
My sim and my galaxy simply do not get along.
I tried to replace my sim - Didn't help.
I tried to flash my rom and modem - Didn't help.
What can i do?
Anyone has an idea how I can debug it?
Try hackarchive's solution

This worked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698621
I have my Galaxy S4 for a while now, and through out its history I have messed with it a lot.
I think it first happend when I updated my ROM to the newest Omega version, and every once in a while I was getting a Sim Card remobed error, and only restart now option - after each restart it worked normally until the next time.
Straight after I switched phone company and got a new sim, I started getting Invalid Sim card error after the forced restart, but not every time. To get it to work I had to restart the phone many times until it decided to work.
At first I thought the problem was with the Firmware, and tried to return to stock - but it didn't work.
Than I thought, maybe it is a hardware issue, replacing the sim slot didn't help.
The last option is replacing the SIM but it makes no sense because it works on otger phones, and the problem started with my previous SIM card.
