Just received Update Notification for 22.21.11 on Pure Edition? - X 2014 General

As the title suggests... I just received an update notification for 22.21.11 on the T-Mobile Pure Edition. I'm currently on 22.11.6...
Has anybody else gotten this update on the Pure? I thought this was the Verizon version?

Looks like they are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...g-lxe22-39-6-pure-edition-stock-boot-t2940437

Here's a link to the OTA.
https://mega.co.nz/#!DY8XGQpS!NvDbC9cCmYQVOiTkp7k0vXTHrSWwFDD3S9tIYgJ_K6U

I was on 22.11.6 rooted with TWRP. I just unrooted through the latest SuperSU, flashed stock Lollipop recovery from graffitixnyc's website, and the update installed without issue. So far I haven't noticed any additional settings or anything, so I presume this is primarily a bugfix release. I suppose we'll see whether battery drain or some of the more minor bugs have been addressed.

Just ran the CF-AutoRoot "fastboot boot CF-*.img" (don't have time to type the whole thing out) from the bootloader and everything worked out fine. So yup, rooted again no issues.

No, I received the update via the OTA a few hours ago. I dunno...after unrooting and flashing the stock recovery, it all just went very smoothly.

Did you flash back the stock boot of .6 ? Because chainfire's custom kernel image would inject something to modify the kernel, OTA may fail when verifying stock kernel files.

I failed when veryfing the kernel files, then i flashed the .6 stock kernel back. Now everything is ok. I think you rooted your phone with the newer CF-autoroot tool, which wouldn't modify the kernel

That seems quite likely. I only rooted it a few days ago because I wanted to restore something with TiBu but I had left it unrooted for a few weeks after upgrading to Lollipop.

Could someone clarify what this update exactly is? Is it an update from .6 Lollipop, giving it higher version number? I'm just wondering why this thread is so relatively small...

I believe it's supposed to be bug fixes. Possibly for the background apps closing and memory leak issues a lot of people have reported.

Come on folks, this stuff takes time out of people's day, and work to get things copied and uploaded; the least you can do is click a button. I know that manners are a lost legacy, but people aren't obliged to do things - they do it from the kindness of their hearts, so at least show some thankfulness - some courtesy won't take any time, and certainly won't kill you; in fact, you'll actually FEEL BETTER FOR IT

What do you mean this update is for 176.x.x...?
I was getting errors with the 4.4.4 OTA through philz recovery.
So I downgraded to 4.3 and updated OTA to 4.4.2 - 176.44.1.en.GB(187mb) and then an update of (8mb).
Now i am on 4.4.2 and got 4.4.4 OTA 210.12.10.en.GB.

This mean, that this OTA archive is for version 176.44.1. This mean that you cant jump (for example) from 14.71.8 (Android 4.3) to 210.12.10 (Android 4.4.4) because you need OTA with name\version 14.71.8. When you apply it - you will have 174.44.9 (4.4.2, first update). With next OTA with name\version 174.44.9 you will have the last update for 4.4.2 (176.44.1), and so on.

Just got another OTA update. No change log on the update screen. New kernel compiled on November 27.
I don't have root to pull the update from cache since my display has issues that I plan on getting a warranty replacement for
Still need someone to use ADB and grab the OTA for this. My wife's phone is not an option right now...

I agree. Memory management is significantly better than it was. No more Chromecast apps getting closed while running in the background. Still running it through the paced, but it looks much better.
Did any of you have TWRP installed prior to updating? If so, what did you do to get back to stock recovery? I received the update this morning, but can't install it because I have TWRP installed on my XT1063 variant.
Can someone extract and post the boot.img?

Thanks for the reply! But is there a simpler way? Maybe a way to flash it via fastboot? Because root doesn't seem to play too well with my device. Keeps getting bootlooped and i know it's supposed to bootloop with the recent versions of SuperSU but it just doesn't wanna boot up.
Assuming the modified boot image for Root on 22.11.6 will not work with the update, and also assuming the boot.img will be overwritten with the update..loosing Root..
So we will be at the mercy of someone compiling a new boot.img.?

I found that flashing SuperSU caused a bootloop as well and was about to give up. But then I did it one last time and wiped cache in TWRP after flashing it. That time it worked!
The method I linked to get stock recovery back requires root.
If you can find a download of stock recovery from some random website, you can flash stock recovery through fastboot with fastboot flash recovery nameoffile.img
Tried applying update via recovery but failed with signature verification
Any suggestions? This is Consumer Cellular version XT1064 which had retail lollipop version flashed earlier
The hosted version by Neko is 22.11.6, not 22.21.6

Thanks for the Feedback! Figures I lost it anyways (and the Recovery with it) even though I made and flashed a pre-rooted firmware from recovery as always. Whatever happened there. Gonna have to roll back to KK tonight, get Recovery up and running and then finally retry flashing the a newly created pre-rooted FW from my FTF file.
Really quite annoyed at this right now. Could have just OTA`d and the result would have been the same. Hopefully no big Security holes for some time. Not big on wasting several hours, just to get my phone running the way I want it to run.

So I ran the OTA and after it installed, all the apps that I had moved to the SD card were no longer on my homescreens, and I cannot even search for them in the Google Now launcher app. They are still in the app drawer but I have to manually scroll down and find them. I can't just type in their name?? Anyone else have this issue? I am totally stock, no root or anything.
I had something similar. With all apps on the sd card initially being unavailable. After maybe 5 minutes the phone rebooted itself and now all apps appear to have been restored to where they were prior to the update and are once more able to be used

I am currently on cm 12.1. So can I flash this update directly or do i have to go back to 5.02 and then update over OTA. thanks in advance..

You can't install stock ota over cm. You have to be on stock rom with stock recovery and it has be not rooted. After updating the ota never flash the 5.0.2 and update again it will hard brick your mobile. After that it will be useless ,because Motorola won't release the files needed to unbrixk it. So keep it in mind. Don't forget

It because your rooted and the recovery is not stock. First flash it with stock forward using adb. And then update it will work. But after update don't flash the 5.0.2 rom again
please semd me the link of twrap recovery of moto e2 4g LtE XT1521

I wonder if this root security patch affects those of us with unlocked bootloaders? (Probably not)
Also I hope the full image is released soon...

I got the same update notification and installed it. Motorola support has NO CLUE what this update is about. What is it?
I just got the notification too. I'm running a Chilean provider (Movistar) ROM, but the update just says 'en.CL'. I unlocked my bootloader a long time ago though via Motorola code IIRC, and to tell the truth I don't remember what precautions to take when receiving an OTA.

Did you lose root after updating? Did you have to 'put bloatware back in' like the sticky says?
No my phone was not rooted
Anyway if bootloader was unlocked so you also can easily downgrade your moto x with 21.7 firmware
But be carefully
Backup your data first
I don't backup any data even contacts and update it [emoji2] and i m lucky

I don't follow... How is it that your bootloader is unlocked, but you are unable to root?
You can still flash a system app and root that way, correct?
I am updating from 222.26.7.ghost_att.ATT.en.US and the zip includes several system library updates and a new modem firmware.
I have an unlocked bootloader and a rooted phone, so to install:
* Boot to recovery (TWRP) and make a backup copy of update zip (/cache/Blur_Version.222.26.7.ghost_att.ATT.en.US.zip) at /sdcard (aka /data/media/0).
* Flash system and recovery to stock firmware in bootloader
* Install the update using stock recovery
* Reflash TWRP and reinstall SuperSU and Xposed

Shabby means his phone was not rooted prior to applying the update, not he lost root or was unable to root.
I would happily take it if it means better battery life root is useless in its current state.
Just got the update notification on the XT1060.
I'm trying to learn how to root this thing, as I've never done so on an Android device. Should I hold off on updating this until after I've rooted?
My brother's wife got this update and now her phone is not connecting to their wifi network, even after several resets and different configurations.
Hopefully the old root methods will be adapted to this update.
Please chime in if you have a similar problem or a solution.

Definitely consider rooting/unlocking your bootloader as an alternative to official releases. You just have so many more options once you've made custom roms available to yourself.
Installed in on my dev edition and haven't noticed any difference.. Probably not a significant update.

Did you use this OTA on a rooted device? If so, did it impact your root?

The device is not rooted.
Does anybody have the stock zip for this update or know where they're usually located? I've been researching the method CrashXXL used to add root/Xposed/remove bloat, but then Moto dropped this update and I have to start from scratch.

@iscaela posted the instructions to get update.zip file in the first page read but for this you need rooted phone
Don't Ever update your rooted moto X to the latest firmware via OTA specially verizon xt1060
My friend update a rooted xt1060 via OTA to the latest firmware and now his phone doesn't booted anymore Stuck on fastboot with an error of system failure
Now no firmware available right also fail to downgrade waiting for new update firmware
another thing this update have only SECURITY PATCH not any changing but i think patched the root privileges

You also need an unlocked bootloader, which I don't have.
