[Q] Need KK BL - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want the kitkat bootloader to flash a custom rom which requires KK BL. The propblem is that right now i have Carbon Rom on my Razr M and carbon rom requires JB BL. So i downgraded my phone to JB and flashed Carbon Rom. Now i want to flash another ROM which requires KK BL. So guys I need to know how do i get the KK BL? I have to Flash stock SBF of Kitkat through RSD? if so then which XML should i use? As I am on a custom rom i doubt that the stock XML will brick or something like that i just want the KK BL.. anyone who will be willing to help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Notice: My Phone is on JB BL and a custom rom (carbon) is flashed in it right now.

AFAIK, you do have to go through the whole RSD process. Use the official XML. Custom XMLs are for downgrading. Do not worry about bricking - all partitions will be wiped.

Thank you for your reply sir but if you could help me more that would be really appreciated... Can you please paste or copy the XML here which i can use to flash through RSD? i heard that if we dont remove Getvar lines and i guess OEM lines we can get bricked? im really concious about bricking because i cant afford to brick my only phone. if you could give me the XML for flashing offficial KK on a custom rom that would be really appreciated. and also im going to flash the unofficial CM 12 on my Razr M

The only real risk is downgrading firmware not upgrading. All you need to do is flash the stock firmware (with the stock xml) with RSDlite.

Just don't take the OTA, it has bricked few peoples' RAZR M phones already. That's all. And on the safe side, I always omit tz.mbn and gpt.bin as they could wreck the phone if not done carefully.

The latest firmware is posted in the General section, should be pretty easy to find.

thank you so much people for giving your opinions I am gonna flash the stock Sbf through RSD with the stock XML but i will remove tz.mbn and gpt.bin they are the deal breakers i guess. I'll flash it tomorrow morning. I'll post the results ASAP.

SOLVED
okay guys my problem is solved. sorry for late post as i had some personal issues. okay so i did what i said earlier and flashed KITKAT OFFICIAL SBF on my Custom Rom flashed Droid Razr M. The process went flawless so if anyone wants to flash the stock kitkat rom on a custom rom of JB BL they can use the almost stock XML file i just removed some lines.. if anyone wants to cut to the chase and if anyone doesnt wants to edit the XML by their selves and they are afraid of getting bricked or something like me so i am attaching the XML file i used. if anyone is in the situation like me feel free to use this XML. YOU WONT GET BRICKED if you are upgrading your BL. :good:

[Q] Google Edition ROM

I would like to install Google Edition stock rom on my S4 i9505, it is locked to O2-UK, would it be possible to do so without being factory unlocked.
Thanks
No
First of all, you cannot simply install a GE ROM on a regular i9505, because the bootloader and the partitions are different. Also, ODIN will always recognize your phone as an i9505, so you cannot install GE ROMs this way.
What you can do is flash CWM and use a Custom ROM which is based on the GE ROM. But this is not exactly the same as a stock GE ROM. It comes close, though, and usually is 'better' anyways due to 3way reboot, root etc.

What does this mean? Is your bootloader locked? In this case you can only install ROMs via ODIN AFAIK, unless someone already has hacked the bootloader so that you can install CWM.
Edit: If your bootloader is locked you can only install stock ROMs of course, or some stock-based ROMs which don't touch the bootloader or contain an official bootloader update.

This is what I meant sorry. Flash a new ROM based on the GE. I have never flashed before so wouldn't know where to start.
I mean carrier locked to O2-UK, it is completely stock so I am guessing the bootloader is still locked.

Start reading the forums before you start flashing. These are basic questions. Read, learn and prevent your phone from becoming a paperweight.
I can tell you all the steps you need to take, but then you still don't know what you are doing.

Razr M Rooting and Updating issues

So I have Razr M and for some reason has been unable to update. I tried the verizon store and the guy working there tried many different things but nothing worked.
So now I am looking root and throw Cyanogen mod 11 on my phone. Only thing is I am still on Android 4.1.2 and System Version 98.15.66.XT907 since I cannot update for whatever reason.
So could anyone please point me to where I can find info on how to root this version?
Thanks for the help.

You could use RSD Lite to flash the official firmware.
Use Towel Root or Motochopper(Jelly Bean Only) to root.
If you want to flash a custom ROM, you'll need to unlock your bootloader. I believe the version you are on (.66) is unlockable, so is the latest version (KitKat). If this is what you want, the information is HERE but beware that unlocking your bootloader will void your warranty.

can you please tell me how to use RSDLite to flash the offical firmware on the phone? Will RSDLite require root?
Thanks.
It does not require root... There are several guides/videos online about how to use rsd just Google it... If you have any issues with the flash let us know...

[Q] Softbrick? [solved]

Hi,
I just got a new phones so I decided it'd be cool to root my old RAZR M. I got the root and unlocked bootloader, and then I went in to try and install a custom rom. It ended failing and it gets stuck on the "WARNING BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED" screen. I'm able to go into fastboot and recovery.
I did some looking around, and I found that you can use RSD to get stock ROMs back. I tried downloading the 4.4.2 ROM from here, but it for some reason ends up going down to 0b/s and then says network error, so I tried the 4.1.2. It downloaded, and i went in using RSD to flash it, but it says that gpt_main0.bin failed and it stops. Since I did that, whenever I go into recovery it just freezes and I can't do anything.
Anyone have any idea what I can do to either get the 4.1.2 one working and root that or get the 4.4.2 one downloaded and try that?
Thanks
EDIT: Got 4.4.2 loaded back and did research and got CM11 loaded. Thanks anyways!
Please tell us what stock version you're on and what recovery and ROM you installed. It sounds like you've combined a JB BL ROM with a KK BL phone or vice versa.

I'm on 4.4.2 stock, the recovery I have is TWRP. I tried to install CarbonRom. I guess i should have done more research for ROMs.
Also, I've been able to keep a download of stock 4.4.2 rom going and it's ~85% done so I'm hoping it's able to finish this time.
EDIT: Got 4.4.2 downloaded and installed using RSD. Going to get it all rooted again. Does CyanogenMod 11 work with version 183.46.10.XT907.Verizon.en.us?
Thanks

Yes it does, however CM11 for KK BL (moto_msm8960) still has these nasty WiFi and GPS bugs. If you want a bug-free CM11, you'll have to follow the guide in General section to downgrade to JB (98.30.1) and then flash CM11 for JB BL (moto_msm8960_jbbl). Don't worry, if you've unlocked your BL, then nothing would relock it, not even downgrading.

How to update Bootloader

Hey,
I'm on AOSP for some time now.
I was just wondering if one can update bootloader only or does he have to update the whole firmware. Lets say I'm on 4.3 JB and would like bootloader 4.4,can i just simply flash bootloader only?
Do i have to use Odin or can i use cmd flash procedure as for nexus?
I'm asking because lollipop needs a updated 4.4 bootloader as far as i know..
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, if you manage to get a bootloader only file.
But do keep in mind, that currently 4.4 bootloader works only with 4.4 ROMs (and those custom CM12 ROMs that are made to work with it). You will not be able to revert to 4.3.
Thank you for response.

[HELP] G900V-CID11 Toshiba-locked bootloader, looking for 6.0.1 ROM working

Hi all, we are all surrounded here from ROM releases, versions of phones, a moltitude of options. I can't really figure out how to find a rom which can be installed on my phone, by the time I'm waiting for an unclock for CID11.
I've now a BT1 rom sim-locked and SD-not working and I can't use my phone at all. I'm stuck here.
I've rooted it already, waiting for a proper solution.
You may kindly indicate me the steps I've to follow to install the right rom, if I've to use safestrap or chainfire.flash_0.50.apk, and if I've to flash with Odin the bootloader and with which file.
Thank you so much, please add any consideration that you can consider important!

Nah man, im just picking on you. I dont believe there are any custom mm roms for locked bootloaders so far, ressurection remix works with a lp bootloader and its 6.0.1 though. Maybe check that one out. You may have to set your apns manually. I have no real way of knowing if it works on locked bl, i flased with twrp. But if you feel like taking a risk that badly for it, i would try flashfire on pb1 bl and baseband. Good luck!

I'm thinking about trying ressurection remix and i'm wondering if making a backup in lp safestrap would help in the event something goes wrong? or if does happen would I just have to flash the original pb1 rom and re-root and set everything back up again?

As far as I know you should always be able to flash back to at least pb1 and root. Also I myself would try flash fire instead of safestrap because I was never successful with safestrap, only flash fire. And I know the frustration of having a locked bl, as the unlock method has only been out a few months now. Good luck and I hope it works for you!
Well that didn't seem to work. Thank god for backups.

Yes thank God for backups, sorry it didn't work. Did u flash it with flash fire and move wipe to happen before flashing ROM? If you hold the wipe action and move it above the flash it will wipe before flashing, just don't wipe your internal storage that the ROM is on

I flashed 6.0.1 following the thread, thank you.
Sim is unlocked but Verizon keeps bothering me about, anyway it's not a problem.
The problem is that SD doesn't work, I formatted it FAT32 and it's working on PC/other phone, it was working with previous rom.
Have it ever happened to you that after flashing CID11 with BP1 u lost the SD card recognition?
Thank you!
