Hi, I experienced problems flashing GApps, saying I don't have enough space in the system partition, though I have 2,3 GBs in the data partition.
Is there any way to shrink the data partition and expand the system partition?

IDK how to resize but with all apps phone will lag... I usually choose the little package, less space and less ram...
You can flash a package and that manually install other apps, there are the link in that thread, those one that you need, i think you dont need every apps...
LOL I need them all. The phone won't lag I tested it on an emulator. It would be a pain to install them one by one and then delete the apps that they replace.

That wouldn't matter if he changed the partition size for the new ROM (and JB usually requires a much higher partition size than GB), but if not then yeah OP try that and all of samsamuel's suggestions. Also, from a quick Google search CyberMod appears to be a ROM? How exactly did you use that to backup and flash a zip? If you have MAGLDR, then you should never use 3rd party apps to do things like that.
try this, worked for me

I didn't work it's stuck at the nexus start screen. So then I wanted to get back to 16 mako faux kernel and it's still the same.. It keeps loading. Can someone help how to fix this? Please?
Thank you so much in advance...
Does maybe the Recovery Kernel Faux help? The link is dead

Try wipe cache, dalvik, and system (assuming you're using twrp) (you won't lose any apps or data), then reflash your ROM and gapps without flashing a kernel.

Yes I'm using TWRP. Do you mean in the menue 'WIPE' which says FACTORY RESET Wipes Data, Cache and Dalvik (not includiung internal storage)?
I don't lose any apps and data right?
Ok I did. But now it says I have no OS when trying to reboot. I always have used Stock Rom... where can I reflash it?

No don't do that, you will lose data.
Click on "Advanced wipe", then select only cache, dalvik cache, and system. Make sure you have a ROM zip file available in your phone's storage. Wipe those 3 things, then flash your ROM and gapps. You will not lose any apps or data. It will remove any leftover files from past kernels and you'll be back on your ROM's default kernel. I often do this when switching kernels. Not needed most of the time but I hope it helps you now.

Puh, I did the Advanced Wipe without DATA. The problem is that I don't have a ROM Zip on my phones storage. Can I somehow access to the storage to put the Stock Kernel on the phone and then install it? So confusing! I am so thankful for your help.

Wiping System essentially wipes the Android OS off your phone (but keeps your user apps and data), so once you wipe system you need to flash a ROM to be able to boot your phone. That's why I told you to have a ROM zip available.
You can use TWRP's built in file manager (Advanced -> File manager) to see if you have one on your phone. If you don't have any, you can use a root toolkit (like mskip's) to push a ROM zip from your PC to your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995688 or use an adb push command.
How can I make it connected with adb? I always type in adb devices but my device is not listed. I have it connected via USB to my computer but it won't find it. How can I make it visible? Should I turn it off or have it on in the bootloader or recovery? Sorry
It didn't work... it said something with insecure boot blah? Jesus.. I'm getting crazy. I just want to put the stock rom on my phone..

I'm sorry, I'm not skilled at ADB. I believe USB debugging needs to be enabled, which is something you enable in Android. You may need to do some Googling to figure out how to push a ROM to your phone. The command is "adb push" so try searching that.
In general I always recommend keeping a copy of a working ROM zip on your phone just in case.
The toolkit I linked you earlier has the functionality to flash the Google stock ROM. That's something you can try as well. However that may cause you to lose your apps and data.
I am very desperate. I tried so much to just push a file on my phone with toolkit or adb.. now nothing really works. Does anyone know what I can do? When I use adb and try to push it always says read-only file.. do i have to do something before? It won't push.. I just want to add the stock rom on my phone. Is there any other way?
Ok, I somehow managed to push.. but I can't find it when I want to Select Zip Install the Stock Rom.. the file was TGZ. Is there the Stock rom as ZIP too? Or why is it not there where I pushed it?
..

Hello,
I have looked quite a bit, but I can't find anything to help (perhaps I'm using the wrong search terms or something). The problem I keep running into is that, even with wiping cache, dalvik cache, and data/factory reset, gapps keeps on coming back. I've flashed the latest CM11 nightly, the latest Purity, and the latest BS Harmony, all without flashing gapps, but when it boots up, sure enough, gapps are there. Why are gapps still there, and what can I do to get rid of them?
Thank you in advance!

Yes because it has backup system yo backup gapps, if you want to get rid of gapps, go to mounts and storage on cwm and do format system, and then flash cm11 or other rom

If I'm not mistaken, some devs do add some gapps into their roms. Not all of them mind you. Also when you do a factory reset via the recovery, it doesn't wipe the system partition. Most roms will wipe it when it (rom) is flashed, so gapps from previous roms wouldn't or shouldn't be there.

So I been installing Rom's lately on my rooted lg g2 D801. I was wondering if there is a way to do a full wipe that clears the storage side as well or would that brick my phone?
Well what custom recovery are you using. For example im using twrp and under wipe you click advanced and check all options including internal storage. Why do you want to do that? Youd then have to push your rom and files via adb in fastboot mode. I wouldnt do that ,but its been done.

You might have old roms you downloaded before installing you could delete. You could also have nandroid backups taking your space you could delete. Try installing nandroid manager from app store and see if it finds backups taking up space and delete them

What I do for a full wipe (with TWRP Recovery) is wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache - Flash my rom and gapps - and then wipe internal storage

Best way is to every now and then use USB otg. Move a backup to it or when you are about to fresh install a ROM put everything on USB otg and then wipe everything including internal. Then install ROM and gapps or whatever and you will have a super fresh internal storage. All folders and misc. Stuff left behind from multiple flashes will be formatted and you will have only what you need

Hi there,
I searched a lot on the subject, but I'm still not sure if/how this would work:
Can you install a factory image or an OTA update on a F2FS formated Nexus 7 2012?
Currently I have a lollipop custom ROM and kernel, with all F2FS and TWRP running on my Nexus 7. Could I install a custom F2FS kernel on my F2FS formated Nexus 7, like Phantom, and then only flash system.img and userdata.img from a lollipop factory image? Then, could I simply flash future OTA update zips?
Thanks!
It will just format it back to ext4. I've been trying to get f2fs to wepork on mine but I can't get the damn thing to recognize and side load. So I keep having to reflash official builds and it just rewrites everything to the stock build. I flashed the whole thing as f2fs wiped the device.

Hi,
I got as far as (in short):
- Flash factory image
- Flash openrecovery TWRP
- Backup system and data (you have to make some space on system first, e.g. by moving some apps over to data)
- Format system, cache and data to F2FS in TWRP
- Restore system and data backup with "Use rm -rf instead of formatting" checked in TWRP settings
- Flash boot.img from Phantom kernel
I got this to work with LP 5.02, but for some reason with 5.1 the system restore failed so far... As for updates, I thought that, in the same way, you could just restore a system backup of a newer factory install over your actual system, but I haven't tried that yet.
Then again, this all is quite tedious. I'm not very advanced in img or ROM modification, but I'd like to know what one would have to modify in factory images or ROMS to make them F2FS compatible. For JB there are ressources out there, but I haven't found anything for LP so far... Anyone?
All I did was on 5.1 flashed a F2FS kernel then in TWRP formated cache. It was like night and day.
Simply formating cache to f2fs makes already such a difference? Interesting, will give this a try. This would be a fairly easy solution to have a fast stock experience. I might try formating data to f2fs as well (and restoring backup), but leaving system on ext4. This way you may be able to simply flash the system image from future factory images to update your system, that would be a good enough solution for me.
First try updating to 5.1.
5.1 is running and performing so much better than on 5.0.2.
Even with ext4 filesystem and stock kernel.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
I already am on 5.1. Intitially it ran pretty good indeed, but I'm starting to get occasional lags again now. Not as bad as before, but still not as smooth as with JB when it was new... Like I said earlier, I haven't managed to do the TWRP f2fs backup and restore method for some reason with 5.1, but keeping system on ext4 might do the trick, so I'll try that and see if it improves upon stock 5.1...

I'm using Franco Kernel(r82). It supports F2FS(formatted /cache and /data to F2FS) and it works flawlessly.
TWRP backups fail on stock 5.1 with f2fs/franco?
I downloaded the 5.1 factory image; installed it using the included batch file; installed franco r82 and formatted /cache and /data to f2fs. It seems to run reasonably well, but TWRP 2.8.5.1 and 2.8.6.0 both fail to make a backup, giving an unspecified error when backing up the data partition. Do you experience the same thing? Do you know of a workaround?

Still working great! Only gripe 2 - 3 second delay on waking up.

Running really good so far with Franco Kernel and Cache and Data in f2fs. Thanks guys.
I also don't get that wake delay btw. Maybe wipe cache again?
@CCarson: I made a successful backup using TWRP 2.8.6.0. Maybe backup your sdcard and then re-format data. Also, don't know if this applies to you, but if you have the 16GB model, the 5.1 factory image formated mine to 8GB, so I had to re-format data once to get it back to 16GB and only then I changed it to f2fs.
