Do you guys think LG will do it? - G3 General

Do you guys (and gals) think that LG will release the laser auto focus apk so that ROM developers can include the feature into all the roms they want? Or do you think LG will hoard the laser auto focus feature and not allow anyone else to enjoy the bliss that is Lazer Auto!?
Im asking in terms of the future. Will they? Has LG ever released apks of features to allow others to enjoy them? (im inexperienced in this realm so sorry if my language is off)

Laser focus work. The problem in aosp camera is that a big part of the quality depends on the lg framework and drivers, which are closed source and they're not going to release.

Lg g3 camera drivers request

As we all know, some of us are delighted with the performance that CyanogenMOD ROMs (and CM based) have. But most of us, we don't use them in a daily basis due to this issue.
THE OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF THE CAMERA AND SOUND IN OUR LG G3.
It's a shame, because lots of us love the AOSP ROMs experience. Since a long time, I've wanted to get in touch with LG so they can bring us a solution to our problem.
After talking with an LG agent, he told me they aren't planning to release the LG G3 drivers soon. But he also told me we can write them a petition so they can think about it and maybe, change their mind about this issue. The number of petitions they'll recieve is very important in order to succeed.
Here I leave you a link in order where you can make the petition. https:// m.lg.com/us/support/message-customer-support
And here a template to send it:
"Hi, as you dont give the LG G3 users the option of having an official version of an AOSP ROM and we have to appeal to non official ROMs like CyanogenMOD, I demand you to release the camera drivers so the developers can offer us a nice camera experience with their roms added to the performance they have already achieved.
LG should give their customers the possibility to decide if they want an AOSP rom, like Google demand or if they want the LG modified android with the lose of performance it carries.
Greetings"

They can't.
These drivers are property of Sony/etc/etc/etc. They've got no rights to release them, so LG will never do it.
Plus, it's not drivers. Raw camera quality is the same as on stock -> the only problem is low-light noise reduction algorithms, which are not in drivers but in camera app. They are quite powerful, able to fix even the darkest pictures -> and so, they are quite costy and are kept secret. No one will ever release them to public...
I have already sent email /request to them 2 months ago but nothing happened...I just sent again the message you have posted. I am optimistic and maybe there is 1% possibility they ll release. It doesnt cost anything for everyone to try.
Theres the answer i received from LG
"In response to your concern, unfortunately, LG can't release the camera driver as we only troubleshoot the phone and offer warranty service if it has a problem.
I do apologize to disappoint you ansd I hope you understand.
Should you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us again via Email, Live Chat, or Phone by calling 800-243-0000.
Thank you for choosing LG and have a wonderful day! "
So in conclusion, we have to wait for a developer to do the trick .

It won't be long brother. It's only been a few months since release. But luckily we have some talented devs already working away. It can only get better
Just how stable are any of the Roms? Is the camera issues the only problem? My wife has Sprint so I'm looking to but her this phone, but I'm also looking at Honor 5X since I can switch her to AT&T and since I have 5X and most ROMs are 100% working. Honor 6X has no real support since its not Snapdragon and Meditek so that leaves me with this phone. Is this likely to get good ROMs and dev support?
I am also on sprint with the G5Plus. The only issue I saw was the camera issue. I was using Lineage and AOKP, both are great and very stable.
one thing that is also not working is the SprintDM which is used to update PRL and such. this can likely be added manually, although I havent tried.
Wait for Lineage OS official tag

Is there any chance for us, to have Pixel 2 camera features on the Nexus 6p?

We have a great device with great hardware and was wondering if we could get those features in the future?
I don't think google will give it to us with a Camera update, but with some mod or custom APKs? I mean like the Camera NX project.
Will we ever be able to have some of the new features? Live photos or even portrait mode?
(I'm not a software guru, pls be kind, if I asked huge nonsense)
I'm sure someone will find a way to port them to our device eventually.
Pixel already got some Camera love from Google! We need this on the 6P as well! <3 Anyone?

Face unlock for op5?

so after searching the new face unlock feature on the OnePlus 5t it seems that is using the front camera and since there is no hardware change in the camera from op5 to op5t which (along with same cpu, ram, gpu) should theoretically mean the op5 and even the 3t could have this feature implemented in software
do anybody know if this is possible or is there some hardware part in the 5t that allows it to have the feature?
technically it will be possible
but i doubt oneplus will make it possible
this is some part of marketing, the new device needs to have something which is improved from the old one
If OnePlus don't do it, some XDA dev will.

i'd like to see it implemented in the xXx no limits rom ! does anyone have a contact with the dev ?
It's on op5's closed beta, so I think it'll also be there on open beta and stable ?

Will the Moto G7 support 3rd party ROMs?

I am currently useing an Asus Zenfone 4 ZE554KL and it's the worst phone I ever owned. Updates from Asus is horrible and their Android skin is terrible. There is no community support for this device for 3rd party ROMs
I am looking at this phone as it has a headphone jack and a minimal notch. As it seems with every Android manufacturer besides Google, updates will be just as slow and that's unacceptable to me.
I am looking at this phone in hopes that it will support 3rd party ROMs such as Lineage OS or Pixel experience. I want to take my own control over updates.
Will this phone support 3rd party ROMs?
I don't do ROM development, but I believe some developers will because it should have good sales.
What about a treble compatible gsi?
What are you looking to get ported?
Preferably, anything that is as close to stock and direct from Google.

We already have that with Stock lol. We got released Pie with a new clean look. I might look into an AOSP variant if that is what you are interested in, but that would be barebones.
While I appreciate that the G7 has stock Android, I see Motorola is still as slow as everyone else when updating there line as phones. If the community does it faster than Motorola to update to Android Q, then I will feel that this should be my next phone.
I am considering buying a moto 7 too. It is slated to get the Q update but nothing beyond.
I'm more interested in using custom ROMs such as lineageos which is google free. That brings up the question of whether the Moto 7 can be rooted (and unroofed). Does anyone know?
