Did anyone else notice the camera stretching your face ? Try taking a selfie and put your face on the bottom or top. Notice the crazy stretch? I usually take my selfie pictures with top of my head cut off. But this camera is morphing my head into an alien head. Is there anyway to fix this? My Iphone never did anything like this..
I found some examples on another forum. This was not taken on note 4 but its the same issue.

Did you try taking the picture with ur face at the bottom end and top end? It works fine if your face is in the middle
I belive every camera will introduce lens distortion when trying to take picture in extreme angle (especially with wide-angle lens). I think it is completely normal.

I have the same issue. Do you have a tempered glass screen protector on, that covers the front camera? If so, that's your problem, replace it with one with a cutout. I've ordered a new one, hopefully it'll arrive soon, the world needs my selfies!

That's not really normal - that just shows that Samsung forgot compensating the wider view angles of the camera via adapting the software properly.

There is no software what will compensate user laziness. Turn wrist a little and picture will be perfect. Can't blame samsung for everything.

Some (most) distortions can not be automatically compensated. There are to many variables to use software for automatic fix. There are simple solutions. Keep your face in the middle of screen and take correct picture or use photoshop or other specialized software to correct distortion before you post it on Facebook or Instagram or get face transplant to one which look good even distorted and stop complaining and enjoy your BEAUTIFUL Note 4

Hello all gnote member
I bought my new N7000 on last week
and after shooting some pictures and recording some videos
I noticed that the screen has more "noise"
In recording video 1080HD, I just stay in default ( and not recording any video , only stay in application)
I see so much "noise" on screen although not zoom and recording
So i posted this thread to find someone help me explain this problem, the first I think that the problem in LCD screen but after changed the new LCD screen in Samsung customer service, it still have " noise" when zoom or recording video
please tell me when use camera app, the " noise" will appear while you just stay in default and not tap recording button or not? ( will appear when zoom in 720HD and not appear when not zoom )
Thank
p/s: in the case: light in the room
Sorry I come from VietNam so my English is not good, hope you can understand for my inconvenience
who can help me?
someone please help me
Since your phone is new, make sure you remove the transparent sticker from the Camera! Just saying..
Some roms have it some dont in my opinion which do you have? And have you tried another camera app?
Also check and test your settings and if the foto looks different on another screen
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
You can go back to show it and ask for a diferent one because this one they may not be able to fix. Only if you are not able to swap, I would start experimenting with other roms

Then I guess, if you have it on both roms, with different apps, and lens is clean/ not scratched, go back to store and say you want replacement unit. Because they didntbfix it last time demand compensation. You wont get it but stay polite., Dependant on store service they will give replacement.
Have tried changing settings? If you explain that you have walked all avenues, and which they were they should also be more leniant.
Best case when buying stuff, test it instore you can returnswap emediately. Its a shame its needed....

Are you sure that what you are observing has to do with the camera and is not simply the well known blocking effect of the samoled screen of the note? There is a well known issue with the note screen, search for "rendering blacks", "phasing", etc. in this forum. Simple test: is the problem still there when watching the camera shots / vids not on the note but on an external monitor?

but after my phone had replaced with a brand new LCD Screen in Samsung Customer Service, the noise still not change so may be problem must in camera

Well I am glad someone opened up this thread. I am using stock camera and i always end up getting some blurriness either in the foreground or background. I have had mixed results with the camera, it is definatly a sub par camera than plus one and plus 2 but really the level is at moto g or redmi 2s level. I was expecting better. I am not sure if its the hw problem or optimization issue with oxygen stock cam Here are some sample shots
I think it is not hardware related that some pics get worse. I believe there is more coding work needed by oneplus so that Image processing get more accurate. If you try different camera apps , you will see kind of different Image quality. So i think good camera programming on Rom side is the Main goal.

I'm not satisfied with camera performance though. I have used iPhone 5s before and comparing HDR pics taken with O+X with 5s, O+X is not good. Its like HDR stays OFF no matter what. First I thought its OxygenOS. Now I'm running CM12.1 AND it's still the case.

No nothing found like Stabilization mode.
Gesendet von meinem ONE E1003 mit Tapatalk
In my opinion the OPX makes quite good photos and videos.
But nothing special.
As long there is enough light, the results are very pleasing.
But in low light the camera is just bad. Extremely on video.
HDR and clear mode is pretty much useless. What a shame.
HDR on the Nexus 5 is far more superior.
But in relative terms, for the price the camera is quite good.

I can change the ISO. When you change the ISO to 100 and you use the flash the ISO is going at 200 but if you don't use flash it takes the photo at 100-120 ISO.

From my opinion you can change iso ,whitebalance and so on but we don't have full manual control because API2 isn't included. So there is only a little difference between the different foto apps. We need to get full API2 support to really change some things.

I just got this phone yesterday. I switched from the iPhone 6. I'm really loving this phone so far and missed Andriod. My only gripe is the camera. I feel like quality was a lot better on my iPhone. Not sure if I need to adjust my camera settings, if it's my eyes or a defective camera. I noticed in some pics thereshould a lot of noise on the edges and front camera make my face look blurry. I have the Sony sensor which I heard was good.

There's no film on the lens but the NR (noise reduction) algorithms seem more aggressive in the s7 than in previous samsung phones. This makes pictures look muddy and loses detail in low light shots. Most mobile phones will produce similar images because of the physics of the small sensor. It's nothing to worry about, try it out in the daytime and you will be pleasantly surprised!

Which modes did you use? Kept everything auto? I tried to reproduce your environment to shoot, very shi#$ lights.. but as you can see, they're quiet good... I had to turn off the flash.
And related to the blurry selfies:
I have the same issue but I know why. In my case it's the tempered glass on the screen. The angle of the front facing camera is really wide so the glass gets pictured (on the bottom) witch results in a partial blurry selfie. I'll save you from seeing my face. Look at my wall instead [emoji6]

I use the auto mode as well. I never used flash in my pics. Your first pic looks similar to mine but more in focus. Maybe my cam didn't focus all the way. My back camera is fine. I took some test shot outside and I think it was just the lighting. The front cam got better too. Not as blurry but I notice when the the front camera recognizes a face it puts some type of filter on. Guess I can clear the cache again and see if that works

Hello there ,
I recently replaced my Z2 back cover and I also decided to clean my back camera lens but ended up realising that is a cheap plastic that will never be 100% clear and photos quality were much higher without it .
I couldn't leave the phone without camera lens because it will fill with dust in short time and camera's internal lens can get damaged too .
So I decided to buy a iPhone 6 Plus camera lens because I've read on internet is made from sapphire that is very scratch resistant , and placed it instead original lens . Of course iPhone's lens are a bit smaller but they can fit very easy . All you have to do is pop out the original lens from the internal part of back cover and I recommend to not heat the lens because this way the double-adhesive band will peel of the lens and stay on cover .Then place the iPhone 6 Plus lens and center it .
Original Sony Z2 lens (crap) : http://imgur.com/Cp8xcSy
iPhone 6 Plus lens (sapphire) : http://imgur.com/3XkkDpx
Sorry I didn't photo same object before and after , I didn't think I will share my mod .
Now photos are definately much clearer than before .

you need lens from iPhone 6 PLUS , because normal 6 is too small
Advice : try to find lens from broken/dead iphones , because if you buy new lens they are mostly chinesse replica and I doubt they are sapphire .

I just got mine from B&H today. And here is what I can tell from famous Leica lens. I never saw such kind of dust since Treo. Sign, Huawei even don't have a clean room...

Just get a return and a new one. I've seen this on all smartphones. While not very common it does happen.
Just curious, is it actually visible in photos? Either way, I'd still exchange.

They're actually Sony sensors but yeah unacceptable. Ask for a new unit.

I've tried looking, but haven't found out what IMX model sensors the phone is using. Do you happen to know, since you claim they are Sony?

I don't know if Leica makes mobile sensors... they might just have done the optics and image processing. At this point nobody seems to know.
Whatever they did, the camera is pretty horrible. I like the phone, but I'll be the first to admit the camera is the worst I've seen in any phone I've owned in the past three or four years. No sharpness, no detail.

Might have to do with the lighting in my house too. I don't take many pictures so I really don't care all that much.

Either you have faulty unit in your hands or then your batcave needs to have couple light bulbs replaced?
Personally I rate Mate 9 camera second in my list.
I've had S7 Edge and iPhone 7Plus and Mate 9 goes middle of those.

For information - most commonly when "famous" camera and optics brands borrow their names to phone and point-and-shoot makes, its just that - branding. They don't make the sensor and they don't make the lenses. They might have had a slight hand in the design process, i.e. the engineering side of it like drawing up the optical formula. It's not a quality stamp like an actual German made item.
Of course, that does not mean the camera is bad and the unit(s) in the Mate 9s seems pretty decent for this kind of device and definitely competitive. As a image maker by trade however, its obvious to me that it cannot compare to anything with a larger sensor quality wise. It's still a useful tool with creative potential.
