[Q] Issues with Nook app on Nexus devices lately - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently I decided to go ahead and update my Nook 10 to Lollipop using the Nexus Root Toolkit (since I was running CyanogenMod). Since I've done this, I cannot get the Nook app to install, and it says in the play store it is not compatible with my device. Ok I thought, maybe they don't support lollipop yet, no big deal, so I reinstalled CM11. Still get told it's not compatible. Reinstalled 4.4.4 from the factory image, and still getting the "not compatible" message.
I've searched for this, and apparently I'm the only one with the issue. Anyone have any ideas or know anything about this? For what it's worth, it also says it's not compatible with my Nexus 7, which is bone stock and running the nook app just fine for my wife.

I ran into the same thing. Workaround was to export a Titanium backup from the N7 and import that into the N10. Interestingly, I just checked the Play store and it now shows as compatible on both systems.

Yes, I did the same thing too, just thought it was very odd. Thanks fire the reply.

[Q] What's best way to get back to stock

Added root and unlocked my 16GB Nexus 7. Since 4.1.2 upgrade been having problems on rooted 16GB Nexus 7. Do not have same problems on my stock 8GB Nexus 7.
1. On every reboot screen shows "Android updating"
2. After allowing initial 4.1.2 update all features of update seemed to be working.
3. Many programs, however, stopped working
4. Since update available space is under reported in Settings storage readout
5. Filled sd card with data up to 508MB available
6. Force stopped Google Play store and Google Play Services and cleared cache.
7.. Rebooted and have all the same problems
My 8GB Nexus 7 which was not rooted and remained stock and has same programs works perfect and has none of these problems
Conclusion: Unless anyone can suggest solution to my problems with rooted 16GB Nexus 7, request link for best way to get my 16GB Nexus 7 back to stock.
Very sorry I rooted and unlocked. Never will do that again. And I spent a fortune on now useless apps I bought specifically for my rooted 16GB Nexus 7
There's a tool kit somewhere on XDA for our Nexus 7. It runs in CMD in the form of an .EXE. there's an option to download, extract and install stock ROM. Should only take 20 mins tops depending upon your connection xP

Thanks. I found the link to Factory Images "nakasi" for Nexus 7 for 4.1.2 at the Google site. Although I want to return it to stock, I also do want the latest An droid update to 4.1.2. Should I use the version of wug toolkit which I used to root my Nexus 7, or should I use the latest and greatest version?

[Q] CM10 fails after update

Hi,
First time posting here. I've been searching around but I can't seem to find anyone with this issue. Which means I'm likely making a rookie mistake.
I've been running CM7 for a while now w/o issue. Decided to look into the state of ICS and found out JB is where it's at. So I decided to give it a whirl based on some successful posts about it, even at an early stage. I used a 8GB SD and on my latest attempt, I loaded cm-10-20121204-NIGHTLY-encore and gapps-jb-20121011-signed onto EMMC. Afterwards, it booted up fine, got connected to the wifi and looked great. Somewhere along the way, something happens that causes Android to popup a dialog saying it's updating. After that's done, soon after I get a popup that "Unfortunately, Gmail has stopped working." When I open a browser, it immediately closes. If I try the Play store, it pops up, "Network error - retry". So it's like a part of the android comm "stack" gets busted on that update. Weird thing is that if I run the Google search app, it returns results from the web, so some connectivity is still there. But when I click a link, the browser pops up for an instant then closes again. I tried clearing caches, doing resets, reflashing gapps, etc. Nothing seems to work. Is there a log I can activate to maybe get more details?
I've probably tried out 5 installs now, using various recently nightly's up until 1204 w/similar results. I just can't figure out what triggers the update. I even tried w/o installing gapps. In that case, I sent myself a link to the Amazon android app, using the email setup. It installed and I could get apps downloaded and running w/o issue. But eventually after a reboot, android updated and I was right back at the gmail failed mesg, even though I hadn't installed gapps. On another try, I had installed and when I reformatted the SD card, it updated after the reboot and same result.
So, I guess I just don't have a clue at this point as to why this update runs, nor do I know what it changes to break the device. After going rounds w/it for about a week or so, I gave up and reloaded my old 7 image. I'm willing to try again if anyone has a clue what I can do.
Thanks

Did you do a factory reset with recovery before you booted into CM10? It sounds like you have some old apps like Gmail staying on there. Coming from CM7 you really need to wipe first.

Thanks for the reply.
CM7 was installed to SD only. CM10 was installed direct to the EMMC.

What was installed on emmc before? Did you wipe that? You might want to use my format 567 zip on my tips thread linked in my signature.

Multi User Problem

Ive got the latest firmware and its rooted. Im having problems with the 2nd user account. Apps that work fine on the default user force close on the 2nd account. Most apps work fine but a few wont even startup at all.
This app for example works fine on the 1st account but wont work on the 2nd.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5kaXN0aWxsZWRtZWRpYS50aGVqb3VybmFsIl0.
Has anyone seen this before? Its pretty annoying. I think it was happening even before I rooted so I dont think thats the problem.
Use voodoo ota root manager and temporarily unroot. Chain fire has said all along that supersu does not support multiuser yet.

It has nothing to do with root. I disabled root and I still have the same problem.

[Q] Play services problem

Wondering if anyone can give me some advice here. I have been running the last version of PSX rom that was released late last year. Yesterday my phone kept trying to repeatedly download google play tv and movies app with no success and I kept getting pop ups about google newstand not working. Then everytime I opened gmail with would say unfortunatley gmail has stopped working.
So I tried reflashing gapps. No luck
I restored a backup I had from january. same problem
I wiped and flashed jelly bean carbon rom and gapps. Same problem
I also wiped and tried a fresh install of psx and gapps. Lost root and gmail wont work but play store does work.
Not sure what I can do here. Any suggestions?
Well in case anyone else runs into this problem. I made it usable for me by freezing Google new stand with titanium backup and deleting gmail and replacing with the stock email app.

[Q] Need help on nexus 7

Hiya there, on the 15 th of January 2015 my nexus 7 (2012 wifi only) had a software update to the new 5.0.2. I decided to install it and at the end of the installation, it said 'error'. I decided to wait to see what would happen next and it started up my nexus 7. When i tried going on the device, I kept recieving the message 'Google keyboard has stopped' i was getting really frustrated and to solve the problem I factory reset my nexus 7. When I set up my nexus 7, i was never given the option to add my gmail account. I went on Settings>Accounts>add account and there was still no option to add a gmail account This made my problem worse as now i can't access the play store. When i went on the Gmail app it says 'this app wont run without google play services I even tried to download the apk but there was still no solution. Does anyone have a solution?
