Multi User Problem - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive got the latest firmware and its rooted. Im having problems with the 2nd user account. Apps that work fine on the default user force close on the 2nd account. Most apps work fine but a few wont even startup at all.
This app for example works fine on the 1st account but wont work on the 2nd.

Has anyone seen this before? Its pretty annoying. I think it was happening even before I rooted so I dont think thats the problem.

Use voodoo ota root manager and temporarily unroot. Chain fire has said all along that supersu does not support multiuser yet.

It has nothing to do with root. I disabled root and I still have the same problem.

[Fixed] Apps don't recognize root

I've been having this problem for a couple of weeks now and can't figure it out. Certain apps don't recognize that my phone is rooted... Shootme, Titanium backup and wireless tether are the 3 specifically. They are all granted permissions but don't recognize root. It only seems to happen when I'm using an AOSP ROM, never had any trouble with Sense ROMs.
I've even unrooted my phone to take it to Sprint and still a no go after rooting again... Little frustrating.
Edit: disregard this post. After at least a week of uninstalling an re installing, it would start working almost immediately after posting a thread... Go figure. Not real sure what the issue was but it's working now.
If this happens again I'd try reinstalling superuser to see if that helps the problem too.
All the apps were still granted super user permissions... just didn't recognize the root. I did try installing super user anyway and that wasn't the issue.

Yet another OTA question

I can't complete the ota update to gingerbread because I temprooted with visionary+ and used titanium to uninstall some pre-loaded apps. So, I figured if I reinstalled those apps the update should work, right?
I reinstalled the apps I got rid of except web2go. I found the web2goshortcut.apk and tried to reinstall it but it needs the odex as well. I've searched google for the odex and I can't find it anywhere.
My questions are, will what I'm doing even work and if so does anyone have the web2goshortcut.odex I could snag?
I know I could just factory reset but I'd like to avoid that if I can.
Thanks in advance.
Don't think it has anything to do with the apps you uninstalled. Might have something to do with being temp rooted. Have you tried to uninstall visionary, reboot, and then run update?

Sorry about putting this in the wrong forum.
My phone isn't currently temprooted, I only did that when uninstalling the apps and then I unrooted.
The reason the ota is failing is because I'm getting a status 7 when it tries to update web2go because the app isn't there.
You'll have to put back stock Froyo to get past the error due to removed app and apply the OTA update.
However, if you had used temproot to disable apps only instead of removing them, the OTA updated would've succeeded AND the disabled apps would remain disabled, the setting is retained. So oddly, there's no advantage to removal vs disable except a small space savings, but a real disadvantage to full removal.

In retrospect I realize that removing the apps was a bad idea.
So it sounds like you guys are saying reinstalling the apps I removed won't work? If so I'll probably just root my phone instead of getting it back to stock.
Shouldn't matter whether you reinstall missing apps generating errors or the entire OEM ROM. I'd just do whichever is easier. Well, if you replace apps the OTA update will leave all settings, apps etc. as is so there's that to consider.
Thing is for the OTA update to 'think' you have stock Froyo. How you do that is up to you.
From HTC G2 with xda premium.
Wouldn't you have to install those apps back to the system folder? If you delete them, then install from the market, you are turning system apps into user apps... right guys?
He could use the update from the store sd cards, but that would lose all data. Double check that, sorry but I forgot how to fix stock problems a long time ago.

Warning new supersu update lock the tablet

I just upgraded supersu from google play. After a reboot, the tablet locks after about 20 seconds or so. After that it is impossible to access anything. The tablet then reboot. The only pudate I did was supersu
It took me few tries to be able to access the settings and remove the update before the tablet locks.
Now it seems to work again without problem.
Don't update until the problem is solved
Mod if this should be placed in another forum feel free to move it

Well the only thing I did was removing the update to supersu.

Be worth reading Google Play comments before drawing any conclusions .

FWIW, I had the same issue, too. I'll also keep looking into it.
Also getting that request for "dumpstate", too.

I have looked further into the problem, it seems that the new supersu may not play well with some apps that request root access. I had avast anti theft software which required root. I uninstalled it reapplied supersu update and it is working. Also avast keep on giving me error even after the downgrade of supersu.
Like you I had the request for dumstate.
Finally I have avast on my galaxy nexus and the new supersu and no problem at all.
So as of now on the tablet I cannot have both (avast and new supersu) together

A friend of mine having the same issue with N7000.
How did you manage to uninstall update before getting stucked.
Same Issue here. Stucked after reboot after SU Binary update.
Managed to run "top" in adb shell which shows me that /system/xbin/su runs to many times......
no problem here on 5 devices

Restart the tablet as soon as you are on the lock screen tap status bar , tap settings, tap applications scroll to supersu and uninstall upday tap ok. You have to do it as fast as possible before 5he tablet locks... I had to do it a dozen times before succeeding
Good luck

This happened to me as well...had to race to SuperSU/settings and changed Default Access from Prompt to Grant and it stopped locking up...couple of reboots then and reset access on your apps after it completely reboots and settles down.....
I had this issue yesterday after installing ROM Android Revolution HD. I thought it was a problem with rom and returned to stock. But on stock I updated it and have no problems.
There's a new update with some bug fixes out. I don't know if it fixes your problem since I did not have it.

Chase Bank App

So after updating to NC2 Kitkat all apps are functioning as one would expect, save for one: the Chase Bank app. I repeatedly try to log in and it accepts my credentials, forwards me to a confirm identification by using an authorization code screen. From there I click email/text/call to get an authorization code which comes promptly.
The problem is when I enter it in, it accepts it then spits an error station that my accepted login credentials are incorrect (they're not) and I'm rerouted back to the login screen to repeat the cycle in futility.
Now what's odd is if I go to the mobile site using ANY browser on my phone (stock browser, chrome, Firefox, opera, tried em all) it will do the SAME thing. However, the moment I click "use desktop mode" and try to log in using the full site, it works perfectly, no hiccups whatsoever.
So, this means something on my phone is blocking the use of the mobilized versions of Chase's site. My first thought was my ad blocker. I disabled that completely and uninstalled it, rebooted, and still no dice.
Any ideas? Had anyone else had this same experience? I'm running stock, rooted, de-odexed Kitkat NC2 for reference. No tweaks aside from Wanam via Xposed framework.
Another thought was maybe it's checking my root status as ISIS Mobile Wallet does. Thus I downloaded a root cloak (aptly called rootcloak in Xposed download section) for just such apps. Alas, this too is not the problem.

Im on nc4 non rooted device and the app works flawlessly. Not sure if this helps you just adding my .02 A lot of the lil bugs I encountered were gone after a full reset. maybe u should try it.

I'm using NC4 rooted and Chase is working fine for me. I never had to verify though because I restored the app from titanium backup. It may be obvious but did you try clearing the app data? Maybe you have a backup to restore from when it was working?
Edit: Rereading your post, I also successfully used Chase on NC2. Also, you can use Titanium Backup to restore an app and data from a nandroid backup if you didn't backup through titanium.

[Q] Issues with Nook app on Nexus devices lately

Recently I decided to go ahead and update my Nook 10 to Lollipop using the Nexus Root Toolkit (since I was running CyanogenMod). Since I've done this, I cannot get the Nook app to install, and it says in the play store it is not compatible with my device. Ok I thought, maybe they don't support lollipop yet, no big deal, so I reinstalled CM11. Still get told it's not compatible. Reinstalled 4.4.4 from the factory image, and still getting the "not compatible" message.
I've searched for this, and apparently I'm the only one with the issue. Anyone have any ideas or know anything about this? For what it's worth, it also says it's not compatible with my Nexus 7, which is bone stock and running the nook app just fine for my wife.
I ran into the same thing. Workaround was to export a Titanium backup from the N7 and import that into the N10. Interestingly, I just checked the Play store and it now shows as compatible on both systems.
Yes, I did the same thing too, just thought it was very odd. Thanks fire the reply.
