I am a proud new owner of shiny new Galaxy S Vibrant. I was working on new wallpaper, and trying to resolve the issue of why my custom 960x800 wallpaper was not as sharp on my phone as it is on my desktop. That was yesterday, so today I thought I'd give it another go, but now for whatever reason, my phone wont' connect to my PC. I am running Windows 7 32Bit. I have seen all the issues others have had connecting to their PC. I have tried all suggestions from those other threads, and none work. But here's what really annoys me, each time I attempt to connect my phone to my PC I get various responses from my PC. Sometimes the PC says "installing drivers," but it fails to do so, other times in the upper right corner of the Kies window it will say "connecting device" but never does. Some times the mtp application screen on the phone flashes as it attempt to connect, other times it doesn't flash, but still say its attempting to connect. I was able to connect once today. But after disconnecting, it has gone back to not wanting to connect. I'm not even trying to connect to Kies anymore, the phone won't even get recognized as a mass storage device. I tried the phone on different USB Settings (ie. Ask On Connection, Samsung Kies, Mass Storage, etc...), also tried unmounting and mounting internal SD card (don't have external sd card) and still no success. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, and rebooted PC and phone. I did the dreaded formating of the internal sd card and Even rebooted my patience, but still get no love between phone and PC. I think it's juast a matter of bad bad bad Drivers, not the Kies software itself. The driver is what makes the device and PC comunicate. I think Kies itself is ok. In a world of plug in play, what a way to put a damper on a completely otherwise beautiful mobile phone experience.
ive had some problems with kies but its always when ive flashed new firmware and my only solution was to uninstall kies then reinstall.
i dont think it should be called kies cos kies open doors and let u enter while this kies shuts the door and wont let you fooking in.
regards

hi guys, just to say that i read and have been reading for almost 2 weeks now on everything i could find and seems no one has been able to fix.
Some threads go on for 4 pages and then it turns out to be the cable etc which i found fustrating as surely should of have checked cable first before posting.
Anyhow, my usb stopped working randomly, it charges fine but doesnt connect to computer what so ever, as if i never plug it in. If i do plug in a OTG cable to the phone it says usb connected and then disappears.
What i've done so far after countless hours of reading.
- Replaced USB connector with new part
- Reflashed a stock rom with mobile Odin pro
- Flashed PURE Google Rom 4.3 pre rooted with TWRP,
- installed CWM Phillz touch revocovery over TWRP
- Tried phone on 3 different computers all with kies and drivers installed, no luck.
- Tried many different cables
- Tried other samsung phones with those cables on all pc's work fine.
- Updated kernel via odin
- Tried to boot without micro SD card inserted etc.
Is there anything else that i missed? Anything else you could suggest? maybe i put the wrong rom on? possibly a PIT error?
bear in mind phones warranty is VOID untill i can get the USB working again. or even maybe because i replaced the usb connector my self if they can tell i opened the phone then also void.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the super late reply as I was doing donkey hours at work due to colleagues not turning up.
Eitherway, I tried that solution for me and that was also a no go. Mount unsuccessful for the error iirc.
Would it help to say that i used to connect my external hdd to the phone previously and used to do so with a OTG cable and when the phone didn't read my hdds because they were ntfs i used a program called stickmount pro and others, possibly could it be that those programs caused an error?
Also i have come to realize that my memory card has now been corrupted and I can't read some of the data on it while in the phone or while using an external card reader.
Could this possibly be anything to do with the PIT? As that's the only thing I think I havnt been able to do?
Hi all,
I had just got my s5 back from a screen repair by samsung two days ago and when i connected my phone to my computer (with the usb 3.0 cable the phone came with), the computer installed all the drivers and what not but my s5 wouldnt say "USB installer connected"(or something along the lines of that like it usually did). The computer wont show my phone either. This makes it virtually impossible to transfer files between my phone and computer. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and ive also tried using samsing kies but it tells me that my s5 isnt compatible (even though it should be). Ive tried using a different usb cable and the same thing happens. What should i do?

I really hope you found a solution. Ive been looking an answer for this annoying problem for 6 months!
Ive read almost 50 threads in differents forums about this problem but no solution at all.
- Tried changing charging port. Cost me a few dollars but no solution.
- Tried USB debugging on and off from developers menu.
- Did MTP+ADB option in *#*#0808#* menu.
- Turned Low Battery Dump "on" in *#*#0808#* menu.
- Tried 10 or more different original Samsung cables.
- Upgraded PC USB drivers.
None of them worked for me.
Hope you have made a progress.
